They aren't gonna do any damage at all, unfortunately. The missiles need a 4 to hit, but they have a native -3 to damage. So the highest roll there (6), reduced by the target number (4), does 2 damage, which is then adjusted by -3... meaning it does -1 damage. And this is before dealing with armor.

Not a single projectile harms Marvin. Not even the rocket that hits it dead in its freaky cluster-eye hurts the kaiju.

No damage!

Tacit Ronin turns away from Rippa's corpse, and breaks into a run! The jaeger's legs work, reactor venting steam into the air as Tacit closes in.

Marvin notices, smoke curling from its carapace as it turns. The kaiju's abdomen rises again as it slowly draws another breath...

You need better Tonks. Better everything, in fact.

Well, if Marvin has 3 armor everywhere then our AKBs literally cannot touch him without rolling a Nat 10, so...

This is a learning experience! before Marvin, we thought the AKBs and Tanks would be able to deal with Low Cat Kaijus, or at least soften them up. Now we know they can't do shit besides distract them and are in desperate need of upgrades.

time to get that Research division up and running, followed by upgrading the Tanks and finally, the Helos.

I get it, we're sucking. I'm aware of what the numbers mean, even if I play jovial and occasionally run low on sleep and miss a detail or two. Can you get off my back and let me make light about the damn situation...?

Seriously though, I'm not trying to be negative and I'm sorry if that's how it was coming across. I was hoping more to help explain combat mechanics somewhat in my examples for the people playing who don't know why everything keeps bouncing off like spitballs.

The weapons roar, rocket after rocket slamming into Marvin. The tanks land several heavy hits, smashing into Marvin's thorax. The kaiju's inhalation cuts off as a pair of rockets smashes into its eyes, blowing chunks out of the clusters!

Marvin takes 2 Strikes! Marvin has been temporarily blinded!

Tacit closes even more, passing the still-moving tanks!

The kaiju hisses, and fires off a spike towards the noise!

The spike ricochets off Tacit's thigh, exploding in midair several hundred meters away.

Marvin is within Charging range. You'd require a 5+ to reach him, and gain +2 to any melee action (Attack, Grapple, Slam, etc...)

Part of me wants to raise Tacit's stats until he can do a decent impression of Devil May Cry's Stinger move on a charge.



Except without the fancy lightshow, at least until we get some jet thrusters as a mobility augment.
 
Saying helis shoot means absolutely nothing because the only Helicopter we have is out of ammo and retreating, it's the Anti-Kaiju Brigades that are still in weapons range.

Also if we move the Tanks closer again they get within 10 units and their accuracy penalty goes away.
