Not to blow wind off your sails, but eiter that combination device is simple and sturdy, or you'd be bettr just getting more heavies.

Rememeber, the King Tiger could knock out every tank (or almost every tank? I don't recall) in WWII, but it had so many flaws it wasn't even funny. Simple and tough takes you a long way, even if it isn't the most glamourous option.

We're in a setting where pure iron hull armor is better than chobham composite and the square-cube law has been repealed. Appeals to Logic will avail you nought.

It'd still be an insane investment for little actual return. Sorry, but combining mecha are simply too expensive, both in resources and especially in actions, when we can get essentially the same results by building a Jaeger and a couple Superheavies.

Unfortunately, we'll have to leave the Voltron expy and the Not-a-Megazord for whenever someone runs a more comedic or Super Robot Shenanigans focused Vs. The World quest.

We can still do maser cannons, though, right?

Eh, I'm okay wih masers.

Also, you can let your SoD level be a bit higher in a robot setting, yeah, butlogic can still be a thing here, this is closer to a Real Robot setting than it is to a SR one.

Also note, I grew up wih Voltron as an initiation to the mecha genre, and I loved watching GGG. I just don't think this is the place to go that way.

I understand. It was just an idea. I mean, we researched magic, right?

I've toyed with the idea of running a more Super Robot Vs. The World style quest a few times. It'd have Finishing Attacks, exotic powers sources like Courage or Magic, Hotblooded pilots and possibly a more structured Research system because I feel that while the "You can research everything! Sorta" approach is nice and allows a lot of freedom for us, but it could use a way to tell the players whether something is viable, or if our technology level allows what we want to be built.

Sort of a simple research tree where you use research actions to unlock things like "Directed Energy Weaponry (Tier 1)" and "Exotic Power-plants" which would then allow you to research how to build the Lightning Shotgun and cheaper Nuclear Vortex Reactors and also unlock "DEW Tier 2", "Ultracompact Reactors" and "REALLY Exotic Power-plants".
So now that you have the Tier 2 DEW... Let's call it "Theory", you can build a Better Lightning Shotgun with a very low research DC, or a basic Laser or Maser cannon, but that one needs to be hooked up to the Jaeger's reactor to fire at full power. Then the "Ultracompact Reactor" comes in and allows you to build it without that drawback or let you supercharge it by using both the gun's reactor and the Jaeger's together.

Of course, "REALLY Exotic Power-plants" lets you build Supercell reactors or the other weird stuff like using Magical Energies to power your Super Jaeger.

It would complicate things, yeah, but it gives the players more direction in what they can or can't feasibly research at the moment, hint at what sort of crazy things they can get in the future and it would allow the same amount of freedom we have right now, because the QM just needs to judge what sort of rough requirements the player's idea would have and then it could be added to the Research list. And you'd still be able to research weapons and armor you don't have the requirements for, it'd just be more difficult and the research into the item would still count towards obtaining the "Theory" requirements.

Of course, I wouldn't be able to run a quest like that because, for starters, I'd need to figure out a new system to do justice to the sort of crazy shenanigans Super Robot Shows have, either by expanding this one or by making one from scratch. Then there's the fact I'm a lazy bum who can't write regularly to save my own life.

I'll admit, bringing up the idea of a more outrageous version of a 'Vs The World Quest' immediately makes me wonder about ideas of making it happen. Though I suspect I probably won't do anything with it myself between two three other quest ideas that I haven't gotten off the ground and other real life stuff I should be taking care of.

1d10 for another Longspear shot,
2x1d10+3 for burst firing,
And hit locations as needed.

I'll just say that Voltron is another one of those ridiculously expensive/hard to research/not very convenient items. It's a lot easier for you to actually research plain old Mobile Suits and use them as super powerful conventional units (admittedly, that would be pretty cool).

Need an exploded die for that crit on Jagdhund. You just used up the whole megazine.

We're out of magazines for that rifle now, aren't we?

EDIT: I could be completely wrong on that, I was certain I recalled using the last of them during the last fight and then not building any more, apparently the character sheet says otherwise.

What the fuck. Double crit already?

You automatically refill your stash each downtime. Jagdhund has 4 left, 3 in your city's inventory.

Tacit Ronin stomps forwards, its increased bulk sending tremors through the ground with each step!

"Now! Fire again!"

The Heimdal's electromagnets discharge again, but the flechette-- underpowered, as the reactor hadn't fully recharged the cannon-- hits a spot of turbulence, and dives under one of the kaiju's arms, impacting the ground a few hundred meters past.

Jagdhund, however, does not miss. The jaeger opens up, firing burst after burst into the kaiju's leg until the last of the magazine dries up.

Out of Ammo!
Argent takes 5 Strikes! +3 Ongoing! Argent is losing Stamina! Left Thigh Armour Broken! -3 Agility! Destruction Wound! Argent is Prone!

To say that the tactic is effective is a slight understatement.

Argent's leg is shattered, blown to bloody blue-brown chunks as HE shell after HE shell tears through it! The carapace and bones shatter, before the connective tissue rips at last! The kaiju crashes to the ground, its lower half corroding to a vile black as its blood leaks onto the ground.

Argent takes 1 Strike from Ongoing! Argent is losing Stamina!

But the kaiju still isn't dead. Not yet. Argent's spines erect once more, flickers of light traversing its body!

Another wave of electricity strikes out, homing in on the nearest target: Tacit Ronin! Ashley and Noah's eyes widen, knowing they can't do anything about it--

Tacit places its other foot on the ground, just as the bolt strikes. With an easy pathway, the discharge flows harmlessly into the ground.

No damage!

Argent plz.

Distances:
- Argent is 30 (28/27) from the wall (Heimdal/Tanks), 25/19 from Jagdhund/Tacit.

[X] Tacit and Jagdhung close in to finish off the Kaiju at top non-charge speed.
-[X] Tacit take point, Jagdhund follow a unit behind.

I'm tempted to take this guy alive, possibly see if we can't get a bonus from having two Kaiju prisoners and seeing what happens if we try studying them in tandem.

Ok, misunderstanding on my part, then.
