Surprisingly, Regent stops its chase, coming to a halt and retracting its gun. The armoured jaeger seems to slump a little beneath its plated suit, a low thrum escaping its Supercell.

Charles? How should we proceed now?
...
Charles?
...do you think we can win this fight?
I... Regent Abyss' land speed is insufficient to keep pace with Tacit Ronin. The autocannons appear unable to land, and likely could not penetrate its armour. Additionally, RADAR has picked up numerous aircraft inbound from the city.
And our allies?
Only Elysium Praetor and Jackal Indigo are returning their IFFs. No conventional assets are registering.
So, in summary, we're unable to dictate the terms of our melee engagements, incapable of inflicting harm outside of those engagements, and completely outnumbered on both fronts, right?
Correct.
So, do you think we can win?
...no. We are outmatched, and... the mission appears to have failed.
Hit it right on the head there. Sure, we dealt a little damage to them-- but even with our insiders we still fought them on their terms, rather than our own. Damn that Bishop-- the kaiju never managed to win against the Protectorate's defenses, so why would we?
Charles?
I... nevermind, I'm just bitter. Purge the CAST-Off and get the Raketan online; we're falling back.
Roger that.
[---]
Regent seems to inhale, the maroon plating that cloaks it ruffling and fluttering up as if they were feathers or scales, rather than incredibly thick slabs of armour. Then, without warning, it hunches over--
Crack!
CAST-Off Armour Purge System engaged as Metamorph! Regent Abyss sheds its supplemental armour!
Like a humanoid grenade, the coat of armour explodes away from Regent, scattering across the ground for decametres around! A cloud of dust rolls out from the jaeger's position, the orange-gold light of the Supercell burning in the middle like a flame. Mechanisms whir and clank, gears twisting and hydraulic rams expanding as the Blue Stars' machine reconfigures itself, and stands back up. As the dust cloud dissipates, the new form of Regent Abyss makes itself clear.
Though slimmer and lankier than it used to be, Regent still cuts a very imposing figure*. It hasn't given up all of its heavy armour, either-- while it might be reduced from the massive slabs of before, the supportive segments underneath remain in place, covering its shoulders, wrists, ankles, and waist, with the rest sheathed in black and grey. The rotary autocannons sit exposed on either forearm, the vent on its sternum churns with a wormhole's fire, and on the back of its calves and sections of its skirting, thruster bells and a pair of dull white cylinders have extended, the plates unfolded to expose the inner workings.
Regent gives its shoulders a slow roll, extending the dorsal thrusters common on all Mark III jaegers-- and sliding up its shoulder blades enough for the quartet of grey, wing-like fins to unfold, straightening and splaying out to their full length. They give a little flap, as if testing the air.
For a moment, Regent looks at the retreating Tacit Ronin, before tilting its conpod back and up to the sky.

Raketan LFS online. Maneuvering fins fully extended. Ready for takeoff.
Launch.
[---]
The thrusters spark, and ignite, superheated propellant erupting from their nozzles as Regent pushes off. No longer burdened by the extra layers of armour, the jaeger's self-contained flight systems is able to overcome gravity, even if it's through simple brute force, and the dark machine rises up into the sky, slowly but steadily gaining altitude.
Everett:
- Tacit Ronin is 28 units from the perimeter, 27 from Regent Abyss.
- Banshees are moving to North. 2 rounds until arrival.
- Meganeuras are moving to North. 4 rounds until arrival.
Blue Stars:
- West and South Groups defeated & captured!
- Regent Abyss is 55 units north of the city, 27 from Tacit Ronin, and has taken off, moving to the base Altitude C.
...Yeah, honestly? Regent kinda lost once you got out of that engagement. You could just stay on the edges of cannon range, or just avoid it entirely, and when your secondary sensors came back online you'd probably annihilate it in two or three rounds unless it got lucky again. Not to mention, all the Blue Stars' conventionals are either dead, surrendering, or imprisoned, Everett's own forces are steadily bearing down, and its only remaining allies are off in Neo-Seattle.
On the plus side, at least you get to see Regent's core gimmicks in action.
And a further congratulations to @BungieONI for getting it dead on; Regent was pretty much a jaeger-fied homage/expy of Vatshu, at least in appearance.
*Oh, and one final note: the picture's not exactly what Regent's 'true form' looks like-- even ignoring the thrusters, fuel tanks, and fin-wings, Regent's autocannons would still be out on the underside of its forearms, and its chest would be modified to accommodate a Supercell vent. Of course, this is because it's a picture of Vatshu, the Black Knight, who Regent is based on, and not Regent itself, so...

Sooooo. I checked the thing. We have the SFT's still unused.
Okay so @Fyrstorm this is utterly insane, but I gotta know. If we turned Tacit right around, and sprinted beneath Regent, could we then jump straight up with a combat leap at it and use Ramming Speed! to boost Tacit up high enough at the risk of suffering fall damage?

Bishop could just as easily be a name as a title. "Damn that (person's name)" is a thing people say, and it's not like it'd be unusual for someone to have Bishop as their name.
I thought you'd used up your SFTs, but I might be wrong.
In any case, you could definitely try, but you do have a limit to how high you can jump and doing so while blind is gonna be really risky.
Actually, wait. You're not in sprinting distance of Regent, unless you roll a natural 5 on your SFT thrust, but that'd still give Regent another turn to act before you could jump.

You know, just to throw in all possibilities.

What I meant was that Tacit turns round and chases after Regent now at full sprint for this turn in an attempt to get closer. Then on the next turn Tacit Combat Leaps at Regent using the SFT Ramming Speed to get up to Altitude Level 01 very temporarily.

(also the fact that's its called "sound" amuses the shit out of me)

"...fair point, we'd rather not have to regenerate from friendly fire. Still, could you at least occupy that autonomous one's attention? We may be skilled, but this sable-plated fool is strong to the point of absurdity, and we don't want to stay outnumbered!"
So, with you guys talking about trading stuff with KRAUN for reactors and frames and stuff (note: reactors are more likely than frames, but a reactor will take a fair chunk of a frame's price out), and of course the idea of salvaging the Blue Stars' jaegers/ryoushi, I do kinda have to ask if there's a specific jaeger you'd be wanting to make next. I expect it'd be a Mark II or III, based on a few things (reactor level convenience, the fact that the Blue Stars units are Mark II-III, and the relative flexibility/independence that Mark II allows compared to Mark I), but beyond that I don't know. Any thoughts or plans?
[] Phenom: Disable the Barrier Plate, then Free Attack and Choke Out.
I don't want to preserve Jackal. I want to break him. But since Breaks are not efficient right now, I'll make do with free attacks and choking a bitch. A Free Attack for Phenom is essentially 1d10+10 damage to a random hit location, so we can actually deal a Destruction Wound on a 9, assuming we hit somewhere with AV 4. We could also do a free attack and Submission Hold, for the 1d5+4 temporary strikes.
Oh, I want to break Jackal too. Doing a Called Shot can shift our damage somewhere more vital, which may be worth more that a 10% chance of a Destruction Wound.

More and more, I'm wondering why this guy is with the Blue Stars. His interactions with his partner paint him in a fairly positive light. If had to make a guess, based on what we know, I'd say he's probably a former Ranger who, for whatever reason, has become jaded about humanity's chances of survival. That's just my guess, though.

...You know, the worst part is that I see no reason not to go for this. The alternative, shooting at him, is unlikely to actually work. And, as Regent pointed out, it's not like they have anything else for us to fight. It's unlikely to work, but it's, at the very least, going to freak the hell out of Regent's pilots, which should be good for a laugh.
Actually, given the low odds of success, it might be best to not let them know we can Jump Good, lest it come up later. They might already know, admittedly, but still. That said, aside from the name, this plan is fine.
