"What the hell is going on?" You ask as the Rose launches from the Ra Cailum alongside Amuro's Gustav Karl.

"Apparently a mobile suit that is engaged with Zeon's quad wing mobile suit transformed into a Gundam type." The comm officer relays to you.

You share a worried glance with Lucia as you and Amuro are joined by Kamille, Judau, Fa, Roux, and Wufei in their respective machines.

As you get closer to the fracas, you see a mobile suit identified as the Unicorn Gundam draw a beam saber and slash off one of the Kshatriya's wing binders before kicking it in the face. The two mobile suits clash for a bit before the Kshatriya suddenly withdraws, covering its own retreat with a spray of beam rounds from the megaparticle cannons in its chest. The reason becomes clear after looking around: there's a Geara Zulu in the distance with two people in normal suits cupped in its hands rapidly exiting the combat theatre, and one of them is gesturing at the Kshatriya.

With the Kshatriya's withdrawal, the Unicorn Gundam seems to lose interest in it before turning toward your group. Instead of opening a comm channel as you expect, it seems to just...float there. You feel a bit unnerved.

"Something's not right." Lucia mutters.

Lucia uses SCAN!

You turn back and are reminded for the first time in months that Lucia's eyes are cybernetic, as they glow a bright red. A menu pops up, and a scanning functionality that you didn't know the Rose had kicks into action.

"No, no no no no no! Tell Amuro and his team to get back, now!" Lucia says frantically.

Before you can ask why, the Unicorn Gundam rockets toward your group, more specifically, toward Amuro, Kamille, Judau, Fa, and Roux.

"Amuro, incoming!" You warn.

Amuro and his group barely manage to scatter before the Unicorn can get a clear swipe at any of them. It turns to pursue Roux in her Strike Zeta.

"What the hell did you see?" You ask Lucia.

"No time to tell this twice, put me on all freqs!" Lucia says urgently. You do so.

"Everyone, the Unicorn's pilot isn't currently in control of the machine! It's in some kind of autonomous mode that causes it to exclusively target newtypes!" Lucia explains.

"How do we get it out of that mode?" Otto Midas, commander of the Nahel Argama asks.

"Given how much strain this mode puts on the pilot, it has to be on some kind of timer. Maybe 5 minutes to prevent any permanent damage?" Lucia responds.

"Great, so how do we keep it from killing us until then?!" Judau gripes as he shifts the ZZ Gundam to waverider mode to dodge a swipe from the Unicorn's beam saber.

"Wait, I might have an idea!" Kamille pipes up. "Lucia, intelligence suggests the Unicorn is a psychomachine, right?"

"Yeah, according to the scan I did, there's psychoframe integrated throughout the whole body." Lucia reports.

"Perfect! Judau, I'm going to need your help for this, we need our Gundam's biosensors to pull this off. Everyone else, keep the Unicorn off of us!" Kamille says.

"Easier said than done when you're also a newtype!" Roux says as she chucks a piece of debris at the Unicorn to momentarily drive it off.

"Wufei, Allelujah, with me! We'll try to keep the Unicorn away from the newtypes in the group!" You ready the Dark Lance.

"Roger that." Wufei says as he draws the Shenlong's beam trident.

Diversionary attack on the Unicorn Gundam
Rose, Kyrios, and Shenlong try to occupy the Unicorn (Autonomous Destroy Mode)
vs
Mobility DC 18 = 10 Mobility + 10 (NT-D mode) - 2 (non-newtype combatants)
Mira uses FOCUS
Roll 1d10 + 8 Ability + 2 (FOCUS)
Roll 2
2 + 8 + 2 = 12
Roll 1d10 + 6 Ability + 3 (8 Will) + 3 (Super Soldier)
Roll 4
4 + 6 + 3 + 3 = 16
Roll 1d10 + 6 Ability
Roll 7
7 + 6 = 13
Unicorn retaliates against the Shenlong
vs
Armor DC 12 = 6 Ability + 3 Armor + 2 (Gundanium Armor) + 1 (6 Will)
Roll 1d10 + 10 (NT-D mode) - 2 (non-newtype opponent)
Roll 1
1 + 10 - 2 = 9

Result: No one is able to hit the Unicorn, but it wastes time in attacking the Shenlong Gundam to no effect

You fire the Dark Lance as fast as you can metaphorically pull the trigger, the Unicorn almost lazily evading the shots as a streak of red and white. Before it can charge the Rose, the Gundam Kyrios blindsides it with a GN beam saber. The Unicorn is barely able to avoid having its right arm severed before it jets backward, firing its head mounted vulcan cannons at the Kryios, the bullets pinging off of its GN field.

You hear Wufei bellow a battle cry over the squad freq and turn to see the Shenlong charge at the Unicorn Gundam with its beam trident. Wufei stabs and swipes at the psychomachine to no effect as the Unicorn seems to dance around the Colony Gundam's blows. After a few more missed stabs, Wufei accidentally overextends with an overhead swipe, which allows the Unicorn an opportunity to jet backward before charging at the Shenlong with its beam saber. With no time to try and dodge, Wufei is forced to take the blow on the Shenlong's shield, which holds remarkably well. Thank goodness for Gundanium alloy, you suppose.

"Kamille, Judau, how's your plan with the biosensors coming along? We can't keep this up much longer!" You report urgently.

"Almost done, give us a few more seconds to hash out the last details and we'll be able to do it once you give us the signal!" Kamille reports.

Before you can sigh in relief, the sensor technician of the Nahel Argama reports something.

"Four heat sources approaching the battlefield at high speed! They look like mobile suits. Wait, this can't be right...the lead mobile suit is three times faster than the others!" The technician says in a barely suppressed panic.

Even though you're not a newtype, you can feel Amuro freeze up for an instant as his Gustav Karl turns to face the incoming mobile suits.

"Well well, let's see what the Federation's latest mobile suit can do!" You hear someone who sounds remarkably like Char Aznable taunt over an open frequency.

"Char? No, not Char, but someone who was made to be him?" Amuro says in confusion.

The Unicorn breaks off from its engagement with the Shenlong and jets toward something in the surrounding debris. Before you can make a decision, a red mobile suit with a resemblance to the Sazabi is upon Amuro.

Full Frontal vs Amuro Ray
Full Frontal attacks with beam rifle

Roll 1d10 + 12 Ability + 1 (6 Will) + 1 (Support Module) + 5 (Newtype 5)
Roll 5
5 + 12 + 1 + 1 + 5 = 24

Result: Amuro takes no damage, and destroys the Sinanju's beam rifle along with dealing moderate damage to it in the process

You hear Amuro grunt as he pushes his Gustav Karl to the absolute limit to avoid the beam round that this new mobile suit fires at him. The shot misses just barely, and even then you see the Gustav Karl's left shoulder plate start to glow from the heat.

"Commander, here, use this predictive algorithm Kamille came up with!" Fa says as she sends data over to Amuro.

Amuro spins around as he tracks the Sazabi look-alike, and just as it pauses to line up another shot, Amuro fires. His beam round sails forward and hits the enemy mobile suit's beam rifle right on the muzzle, forcing the opposing pilot to toss it away before it explodes. Even then, such close proximity to the detonation badly scuffs some of the armor plating on its right side, and it's also forced to jettison an external thruster before it cooks off.

"Impressive, White Devil. I see that your skills have not dulled in the slightest." The opposing pilot comments.

Anything else he has to say is cut off as the Sazabi look-alike is forced to evade a massive beam round. You turn toward the source and see that the Unicorn has broken into a cargo container that was jettisoned into space, and is now brandishing an unusual looking beam rifle-currently ejecting an E-pac-and what appears to be a spare clip for it in its free hand.

The Unicorn fires again, and a newly arrived Geara Zulu interposes itself between the red mobile suit and the enormous beam, going up in flames.

"Oh ho! Well, it seems I'll have my work cut out for me this time." The pilot of the not-Sazabi notes in a taunting tone on an open frequency.

"Ah crap, any ideas guys?" You ask your teammates.

Tactical update

The Unicorn is in some kind of anti-newtype mode-it will prioritize attacking newtype pilots
The newly arrived Sleeves mobile suit has been identified as the Sinanju, personal machine of Full Frontal, leader of the Sleeves and nicknamed 'The Second coming of Char'
The Unicorn is prioritizing the Sinanju
The Unicorn has managed to find what intelligence suggest is a beam magnum, an exceptionally powerful beam weapon comparable to the Wing Gundam's Buster Rifle-It has 8 shots left
Estimated time remaining for NT-D: 4:00

Current Objective: Recover the Unicorn Gundam and drive off Full Frontal
Failure: Full Frontal captures the Unicorn Gundam

VOTE BY PLAN

Kamille thinks he and Judau can use the Zeta and ZZ's biosensors to force the Unicorn Gundam to exit its anti-newtype mode.
When do you use it?

[ ] ASAP
-Shut it down now and remove a dangerous wildcard from the field
-You will have to fight Full Frontal with what little else you have

[ ] After driving off Full Frontal
-You have no guarantee that the Unicorn will not switch targets during combat with Full Frontal
-Risk of the above happening can be minimized by keeping newtype pilots away from the engagement zone with the Sinanju

How do you drive off Full Frontal?

[ ] The old Soviet Method
-Mob the Sinanju with everything you have
-Will result in casualties among Londo Bell Forces

[ ] Thorn Prick
-Duel the Sinanju with the Rose and use its most powerful attacks on it

[ ] Write-in

A/N: The 'interesting' round I promised. Please vote, discuss, and critique!

Hm. I don't think we can 1v1 Full Frontal unless he rolls horribly, but zerg-rushing him is going to get costly very quick. If we turn off the Unicorn, we can have Amuro duel him, since he's got a slight edge in numbers, but on the other hand, biding our time and pinning him down for a Beam Magnum shot might be safer for everyone.

Actually, Alleljuah hasn't used Trans-Am yet, and the x3 multiplier it provides should make him competitive against Full Frontal (the lowest Alleljuah can roll while he's under Trans-Am is 1 + 6 (Alleljuah's Ability Score) + 3 (Will at 8) = 10 * 3 = 30; 33 if his Will is at 9; and depending on how the Support Module interacts with Trans-Am, that's at least a +1, if not a +3 if it does get affected by the multiplier). We can also resort to double scanning Frontal in order to weaken him...
Scan-Reveal narrative weaknesses of a powerful enemy, if weakness is already revealed, -1 to all rolls that enemy makes and their defense DC for the current round of combat
All-in-all, we're doing quite good currently and we do have options as to how we want to approach things. Now, to decide what to do.

WUFEI YOU BEAUTIFUL BASTARD!

...FULL FRONTAL, YOU ASSHOLE!

Urgh...hm. Argh, this is a mess, isn't it? Could be worse, I guess. Amuro, at least, did some good damage there, and we're dealing with what appears to be a Unicorn-only event rather than getting ambushed by another series.

Sure, we're between Char's Biggest Fan and a War Crime that would have Gihren Zabi sad that he didn't think of it, but it could be worse!

...I just realized that this would be the perfect time for the Council to drop in. The Unicorn would be a good prize, we are lacking most of our backup, and the Unicorn itself is a huge risk for most of our forces.

Now, let's plot a bit. We're in a really bad way in our usable forces. Full Frontal outmatches most of our individual members, Unicorn is ready to commit War crimes on most of our individual members, and we can't really commit most members against Frontal, because Unicorn thirsts for the blood of most of our units and might ignore whatever they're fighting in favor of a sudden target switch at the sight of it's favorite meal.

In good news, Unicorn is currently after the Charsplayer with a BFG and we have a Win Button against Unicorn. Bad news to our good news, Sayla's Sitcom Setup would likely win that battle and the Win Button may not work...but also might leave Unicorn open to being kidnapped by the Chartaku if it does.

I think...our best bet...would be to send Mira, Allelujah, and Wufei against Frontal while our Newtypes and generic forces hang back to deal with Sleeves backup, and maybe assist Industrial 7. Between three Non-Newtype Aces and Unicorn, I think we've got a good shot at routing Frontal. Alternatively, we can pull a Phantom Menace hat trick and shut down the droid Unicorn, then Duel of the Fates this Red Comet wannabe with Amuro, Mira and Allelujah...with any aces who we can discern would stand up well against him. Again, anyone not directly involved gets generalized Supporting role.

Either way, let's Scan his ass like we're on Namek.

Not putting it to Plan yet, though.

We are not going to have to deal with Council forces this mission, since we didn't get any of the following message at any point during this event...
The Blühende Rose is detecting heavy dimensional distortions.
The Rose is picking up intermittent Dimensional Distortions of the type that usually herald Council Forces...

Trying to theorycraft a plan for how to force Frontal to retreat... opinions are welcome.

--[] Have the aces be on the lookout for the Kshatriya, in case it tries to ambush an ally unit.
-[] (More to be determined, once we decide if we want to shut the NT-D Unicorn now or after we deal with Frontal)

EDIT: No usage of Scan included since we only have the Rose and the Throne as units that can scan and the Rose already used its Scan on the Unicorn, so one Scan on Frontal isn't really all that useful. Also, the Rose can't really do anything against Frontal, because 8 Ability vs 12 Ability and 8 Mobility means that even if we roll a ten, it will still be impossible to hit him (and our 8 Ability, 4 Mobility and +2 bonus from Lucia isn't enough to overcome Frontal's 12 Ability and 4 levels of Cyber-Newtype, meaning that he will always hit the Rose), so we shouldn't send it against the Sinanju. The only units that can reliably fight off Frontal are Kyrios in Trans-Am and Amuro's Gustav Karl.

So there are only two other Sleeves MS we have to deal with right now, since the Unicorn ganked one of 'em for us.

Marida seems to have retreated for now... and while it's not impossible for her to swoop in like Randy Orton outta nowhere after everyone else is exhausted, given the sheer volume and quality of units she'd still have to contend with, I'm inclined to think it isn't likely that she will.

With that in mind. I'm inclined to think that if we go ahead and have the Biosensor Gundams neutralize the Unicorn immediately, while Amuro Roux should probably be more than enough to clean up the pair of Zeon mooks. During which our generics, Kamille, and Judau can secure the Unicorn, while everyone else who doesn't have another job moves to assist in dealing with Full Frontal.

I'm not comfortable enough in our assets to think we can send anyone to deal with the Colony until after the current threats are dealt with.

...and, come to think of it. Just like the Kyrios hasn't used TRANS-AM yet, Nena should also still be able to deploy her Stealth Field too, right?

Admittedly, the possibility of one of Frontal's other goons being his ace pilot bodyguard (Angelo or whatever?) could throw a wrench in that calculus -- but I kind of think if he were part of the problem then it would have come up in the update?

Yeah about what I expected. RX-0 units are universally terrifying. It is a very good thing Banagher is a Newtype - the only Oldtype to ever use the NT-D system canonically died within the five minutes from the sheer strain of what Unicorn was doing.

....... Aaaaaand it got it's hands on the Beam Magnum. JOY.

Okay, so. The Beast of Possibility has slipped the leash, but is currently targeting Full Frontal. That's the good news. Bad news, the Federation really were stupid enough to not give it IFF. I wish I knew who the fuck thought that would in any way be a good idea, if only so Mira could strangle that idiot for doing something that moronic. Identifying the Zeta and ZZ is not exactly hard here! At least it seems to suffer a debuff when confronted by Oldtypes - makes sense, since it's supposed to be escorted by Jestas to keep other pilots away from the massacre. They wouldn't need to program it to fight normal pilots.

Yeah, TRANS-AM is probably our best bet here. Lord Almighty do I wish Setsuna were here... I actually wish Hallelujah showed up, because as psychotic as he is he would definitely be better able to deal with Mr. Red Comet II. As for Unicorn, as dangerous as it is we should let it stay active for now - we cannot allow Laplace's Box to fall into the hands of Neo Zeon. Have Judau and Kamille ready however, and tell them to activate the plan the instant Banagher is in danger, Unicorn turns hostile or Full Frontal is retreating. Then we can see about dealing with the Federation's little superweapon.

There's no write-in for the Biosensor plan. It's either we shut the Unicorn's NT-D mode down now or we shut it down after Frontal ceases to be a threat.

Making versions of the proposed plan for each choice from the Biosensor plan... opinions on the plans are still welcome.

I love every single one of your Full Frontal nicknames.

I have a dozen of them. As intimidating and somewhat disturbing they made Quattro's Echo Fighter, being the logical end-point of what they started with the Ple/Puru (which they made so much worse oh my god), I have always found how they executed his character concept a bit silly. He's literally just Char but Crazier with Fabulous Hair.

I might take him seriously, but I will never stop making jabs at this daytime soap opera setup. Sayla's wondering when the fuck she became an Aunt, and is having to contemplate her brother's sex life.

EDIT: Just saw the plans and...I'm leaning towards Disable. I think having Unicorn active is just too risky for a very pitched battle, it heavily constricts what most of our Aces can do, and there's always the risk of it getting distracted from trying to chew on Chardilocks even if they're far away.

I just think we have too many Newtypes to risk it. Keeping Unicorn up limits us a lot.

Made a few more modifications to the variant that has us use the Biosensor plan to disable Unicorn immediately. Opinions on the plans are still welcome.

EDIT: Decided to have the ZZ help with the Unicorn's escort instead of the Zeta. Also added some more conditionals to the plan and decided to focus on Amuro with regards to the aid offered by the Support Module, since he needs it more than Kyrios in Trans-Am.

I think we want to disable the Unicorn now, since even in NT-D mode, it's not all that capable of fighting Frontal (NT-D is a +10 against Newtypes, but in this case it seems like it overrode whatever ability score Banagher has, to indicate that he's not really in control; on that note, once Banagher masters NT-D, it will likely not override his ability score for NT-D's bonus, instead he'll straight up add that +10 when fighting Newtypes; Unicorn has 10 Mobility; it needs to roll a 10 to actually hit Frontal, and even then it won't deal much damage, since a 10 brings it on par with Frontal's 12 Ability and the 8 Mobility of Sinanju; Frontal needs a 4 or higher to hit the Unicorn, since he rolls with a +16 on attack rolls from his ability and the 4 levels of Cyber Newtype). Both Amuro and Kamille are more capable of fighting Frontal (to put into perspective, Frontal as of now needs a 7 or higher to hit Amuro (12 Ability + 5 Mobility of Gustav Karl + 1 from Will 6 + 5 from Newtype level 5), whereas Amuro currently needs a 2 or higher to hit Frontal (12 Ability + 1 from Will 6 + 5 from Newtype level 5), both are subject to change after Will updates; provided that Kamille has reached the Will threshold for Biosensor, aka 8, then his rolls would look something like this: Frontal needs a 9 or higher to hit Kamille (8 Ability + 8 Mobility from Zeta + 3 from Will 8 + 4 from Newtype level 4 + 2 from Biosensor), while Kamille needs a 3 or higher to hit (8 Ability + 3 from Will 8 + 4 from Newtype level 4 + 2 from Biosensor).

Decided to have the ZZ help with the Unicorn's escort instead of the Zeta. Also added some more conditionals to the plan (mostly checking if the Biosensor plan is successful before I send Kamille and Judau to do other things) and decided to focus on Amuro with regards to the aid offered by the Support Module, since he needs it more than Kyrios in Trans-Am. If you disagree with any of the changes made for Delivering a Beatdown at Three Times the Usual Speed, Disabled Unicorn, then please let me know.

Oh thank God Above! I wasn't sure Amuro was going to survive that one... The Karl isn't exactly bad, but it's a dinosaur of an MS that really isn't cut out for dueling something like a Sinanju. Still, at least Unicorn hasn't -

The Karl is a better or equivalent suit to everything on the field that is not a ace custom suit like our stuff or based of the Nu Gundam in some way like the Sinanju is or the Unicorn is. The Karl is tougher then the current Jegans and as maneuverable as them while also being able to withstand more damage then a Rezel and only losing speed to the transformable MS.
I have always been sure it was cost and the down sizing of Mobilesuits overall that meant it was made in limited numbers.

[X] Delivering a Beatdown at Three Times the Usual Speed, Disabled Unicorn

Yeah, Gustav Karls are as good as mooks get in UC until the miniaturization revolution of the 0110s forward. Even then, it's gonna outperform a Heavygun or the like in everything but maneuverability. It's still not up to snuff with a psychoframe custom unit like the Sinanju, though.
