[X] Delivering a Beatdown at Three Times the Usual Speed, Disabled Unicorn

I do feel the urge to note that with our current copilot bonus our Defences are DC20. Sure the Rose might not have the same toughness as one of the Mazingers or Getter Robo, but we have the same mobility as some of the mobile suits and can take some actual hits.

In Theory, we could have Amuro, Allelujah, and the Rose Girls dogpile Full Frontal here and he'd be in for some serious hurt. Just so long as we can get the Unicorn out of the way first.

Thinking about discussion I do have a question. The Phase shift of the Seed units helps them out a lot when it comes to the physical weapons but I can't really believe it does not have a upper limit and how durable are those units with out it because we have a bunch of the Gundam timelines mashed together in this story and I was wondering about strengths and weaknesses for the different groups of units? Also just how does a Aries flight suit match up with one of the Ginns for example?

September UE 0083
Space around Industrial 7

"SIEG ZEON!" You hear a Geara Zulu pilot screech over an open frequency as he charges a Londo Bell ReZEL.

The ReZEL and an accompanying D Type Jegan simply shoot it with beam rounds, unimpressed at the Sleeve pilot's bravado.

"Kamille, Judau, do your thing with the biosensors now!" You urge the two of them.

"Got it. Judau, with me! We're going to need some cover for this!" Kamille says.

Roux and a few of the D Type Jegans oblige, laying down suppressive fire against the Geara Zulus.

The Zeta and ZZ Gundams drift closer to the Unicorn, which shifts its aim toward the ZZ.

"Come on!" Judau yells.

The Zeta and ZZ start to glow with what you assume is psychofield energy, which shoots forward toward the Unicorn. The effect is instantaneous, with the Unicorn losing its red glow, panels folding back into the machine, and the V-fin turning back into a singular horn.

Kamille shifts the Zeta Gundam to waverider mode.

"Judau, you and Mira take the Unicorn to the Nahel Argama, I'm going to help Amuro!" He says.

"You got it!" Judau gives a thumbs up with the ZZ.

As you fall in behind the Unicorn Gundam, the ZZ grabs it by the arm and starts tugging it toward the Nahel Argama. The Throne Drei takes up a position behind you and unleashes the GN Stealth Field, enveloping the immediate surroundings in a pink and white haze of GN particles.

You are Amuro Ray, and you are having flashbacks to the battle of Axis as you try to prevent the Sazabi from chopping your Gustav Karl in half with its beam tomahawk. In the distance, you see the haze of the GN Stealth Field manifest.

"NO!" Full Frontal yells in the first display of emotion from him this entire battle.

"You have other things to worry about right now!" You retort.

"Fall!" You yell as you fire your Gustav Karl's grenade launchers at the Sinanju

As you expect, the Sinanju cuts thrust to avoid the grenades, although it's forced to block one with its shield. You fire your beam rifle, forcing the Sinanju to keep a defensive posture as you close the distance. The Sinanju takes a blind swipe at you, which you manage to evade before tossing aside your beam rifle and drawing a beam saber. You slash down, aiming to bisect the Sinanju, but Full Frontal is able to evade at the last moment, and you only manage to take off its right arm as a consolation prize.

"I commend your skill, White Devil, but I see you are pushing your machine to its utter limits. Even with one arm, I will eventually triumph against you." Full Frontal taunts.

"Good thing he's not by himself then!" Allelujah says maniacally.

Roll 1d10 + 6 Ability + 4 (9 Will) + 3 (Super Soldier)
Roll 7
7 + 6 + 4 + 3 = 20 * 3 (Trans-Am) = 60

Result: The Sinanju loses its other arm and a leg, and is forced to retreat

"TRANS-AM!" Allelujah (?) yells.

The Kyrios glows red and seems to disappear in a flash of crimson afterimages.

The Sinanju looks about frantically before raising its shield to block a salvo of beam rounds from the Kyrios' beam SMG.

"HAHAHAHAHA! You talk the talk, but can you walk the walk, you knock-off Char?" Allelujah (?) taunts as the Kyrios swoops around for another pass.

The Sinanju draws a beam saber in its remaining hand as it fires its vulcan guns in an attempt to suppress the Kyrios. The rounds merely shatter against its GN field as it closes in. The Kyrios ignites a GN beam saber and begins relentlessly hacking at the Sinanju, with Full Frontal barely able to keep it at bay. After a few seconds, the flurry of blows proves too much for Full Frontal's alternation of parrying and blocking with the shield, and Allelujah manages to hack off the Sinanju's other arm.

Full Frontal immediately realizes that he's in a very bad situation, and in a move reminiscent of your first encounter with Char, spins about and roundhouse kicks the Kyrios in an attempt to give himself some breathing room. While it does force the Kyrios back, Allelujah is able to recover far more quickly than Full Frontal anticipates, and he is able to dismember the Sinanju's left leg as Full Frontal starts to withdraw. Before Allelujah can finish off the wounded Sazabi look-alike, a barrage of beam rounds from a custom purple Geara Zulu and a companion force him back.

"How dare you...HOW DARE YOU HUMILIATE THE COMMANDER LIKE THIS!" The pilot of the custom Geara Zulu shouts in fury over an open channel.

Allelujah merely laughs maniacally before using the Kyrios to give the Sleeve mobile suits the finger.

You are Full Frontal, and this did not go remotely how you wanted it to.

"Commander! Commander, are you okay?" Angelo Sauper says frantically as some of the Geara Zulus stay behind to cover your retreat.

"I am fine. I severely underestimated the capabilities of the Solar Vanguard and Celestial Being. I will not make that mistake again." You say sagely.

"But the key to Laplace's Box!" Angelo laments.

"We will have other opportunities. We must simply bide our time. A shame, all that effort, and Mr. Gilboa Sant died for no gain." You reflect.

Aboard the Nahel Argama
Medical Bay

As it turns out, getting the Unicorn Gundam aboard the Nahel Argama was the easy part. Getting it open, on the other hand, took the better part of two hours, even with the help of an engineer from the Vist Foundation that had been rescued from Industrial 7 and practically press-ganged into helping out by ECOAS. When the cockpit of the Unicorn Gundam had finally been popped open, it revealed a young man around the same age as the civilians one of the ReZEL pilots had rescued, and apparently a friend of them at that. He was unconscious, with blood on his face that wasn't his.

He's still not awake yet, which has given Judau time to reconnect with Hasan, the Nahel Argama's chief medical officer, who's had the position since it was just the Argama during the Gryps Conflict, while Banagher's friends stay by his side.

"Hasan! You're still serving aboard this old tub, huh? How's life been treating you?" Judau says jovially as he and Hasan clap each other on the shoulders in a man-hug.

"Pretty well, all things considered. How's Kamille doing? I heard he's gotten back to piloting the Zeta Gundam." Hasan says with a hint of concern.

"Pretty good actually. No sign of that thing happening again." Judau says. Hasan gives a small sigh of relief.

"Well, small mercies I guess. And how have you been, Mira? The last time I saw you was right before that last tussle with Haman Karn." He asks.

You give a small sigh.

"Could be better, could be worse. I've found people I want to protect," You wrap an arm affectionately around Lucia, "and I've also found out a few things I didn't know about my past. It's been...something."

"Well, at least you've managed to keep it together." Hasan says.

Before you can respond, you notice Banagher beginning to stir.

You are Banagher Links, and you are currently stuck between dream and reminiscence.

Tikva...just look after the family for me.

Our clients are into this sort of thing. Don't worry, your body can take it.

My wish...has finally come true...Anna.

You awake with a start, and are momentarily blinded by harsh lights. When your vision clears, you see you're in some kind of medical bay. Immediately around your bed are Takuya, Micott, and Audrey, who is clutching your Haro. Behind them, you see a mustachioed man wearing a doctor's gown, a tall woman with silver hair and green eyes, a young woman with pink/red eyes and green hair, and a young man with messy black hair.

"Ah, you're awake." The silver-haired woman says as she floats toward your bed.

"Where am I?" You ask through your oxygen mask.

"You're aboard the Londo Bell ship the Nahel Argama. I'm Doctor Hasan." Doctor Hasan says as he puts a finger to your wrist.

Suddenly, the events of the past day rush through your memory, along with the sensations and feelings you experienced while piloting the Unicorn. You are rapidly overwhelmed by emotion.

"U...uwahhh..." You feel tears well up in your eyes.

"Banagher?" Micott says in concern.

"I...I killed a man. His name was Gilboa Sant...he had a family..." You trail off and lie back down, and you start crying in earnest.

As you blink away your tears, you see the silver-haired woman share a look of concern with the black-haired man and the green-haired woman.

The door to the medical bay opens, and you see a young woman in an officer's uniform enter. Upon seeing you, she grabs a phone off the wall and hits a few keys.

"Bridge, this is Mihiro. The boy's regained consciousness-"

Before Mihiro can continue, the door to the medical bay opens again, and a pair of burly men in ECOAS uniforms enter.

"Commander Daguza?" Mihiro says in surprise.

"We'd like to ask the boy some questions. The rest of you, leave now." The man you assume is Commander Daguza says.

The silver-haired woman and Micott protest for different reasons, and you let the ensuing argument wash over you as you close your eyes.

Gilboa...I'm sorry. You think to yourself.

A/N: And here it is. Due to you effectively skipping the Palau arc, I decided to put in Gilboa's tragic death and give Banagher the same trauma via psychoframe bs. I hope I did it justice. Please discuss and critique!

...well. That's a development. At least we don't have to worry -- for the moment -- about the Sleeves having much if any influence over Banagher.

Well wouldn't be a gundam series without someone getting trauma or ptsd.

I mean from all the UC protags probably the most stable in mind are Judau, Seabook and Tobia and even then they get tired of all the shit the UC throws around.

But oh well suck on a dick Frontal you should know that any machine Amuro is in becomes dangerous as fuck even older Suits.

Then again this encounter will probably give Amuro the idea to dust off the old Nu of finish the Hi Nu, because of Frontal.

Also reminder that we also need to keep eye on the Laplace box, apart from the of charter for the UC I remember there also being a big ass colony láser.

We kicked the crap out of Char's cosplay groupie which is good but damm the kid is traumatized because we could not stop Merida messing up the colony. Plus we can't send certain units with the Nahel Argama because of the NT-D system which is a problem.

@theguynamedwafer Boss sorry to ask again but thinking about discussion I do have a question. I have to think something like the Aunksha transform able MS is better then both of them for example.

Given that Phase Shift Armor is never demonstrated or stated to have an upper limit so long as you have enough power, I'm going to say that as long you have enough power, any unit equipped with Phase Shift Armor will be able to shrug off basically any mundane physical/kinetic attack. I will however, draw the line at trying to stop a Colony Drop with it. As for strengths and weaknesses, I'll say this much: UC units are generally consistent, having good power output with Minovksy reactors and good beam weapons, at the cost of needing exotic tech likes psychoframe to really be high performance. 00 units perform well on their own, but due to how new the tech is, some of the logistics issues are still being puzzled out, and pushing them to the limit for high performance leads to reduced effectiveness in the short term afterwards. Seed units run on batteries, and as a result have less longevity, but that also means they're not reliant on having a supply chain of Helium-3. Wing units that aren't the Gundams are generally cheaper to manufacture, and can do wonderful things in the hands of skilled pilots at the cost of being...mediocre otherwise.

Also, for your specific question about the Aries, the GINN, and the Anksha, I'll say that an Aries outperforms a GINN, assuming that the GINN has a Guul flight platform. When compared to the DINN, on the other hand, they're about equal. The Anksha, provided the pilot is skilled enough, is superior to both the Aries and the DINN.

Given that Phase Shift Armor is never demonstrated or stated to have an upper limit so long as you have enough power, I'm going to say that as long you have enough power, any unit equipped with Phase Shift Armor will be able to shrug off basically any mundane physical/kinetic attack. Apologies, but so long as we're on the topic, I'd like to elaborate on Phase Shift Armor minutiae.

Let's not forget that PSA isn't just a No-sell without cost. Yes, so long as you have the power for it, you could even push the upper limits of what it can stop to things like beam weaponry, as seen with the Genesis Cannon. But that's just it: as long as you have the power for it. Running the PSA eats into your battery's uptime, and taking hits stresses the armor, and consumes more power to maintain integrity. The upper limit becomes a matter of Battery Capacity and Runtime.

That's why Neutron Jammer Cancelers are such a game changer, they allow a fusion reactor-equipped machine to keep PSA up indefinitely, ignore the passive power draw, and as well as reducing the calculation for PSA's upper limit of damage-block purely to Reactor-output capped by Material Stress Capacity. not that anyone has that yet

The Genesis Cannon and what Mu did with the Strike to take that positron cannon shot did stop those shots but the suits were also destroyed as a result. Still saying that physical attacks from regular suits won't do much but drain power and that you would need the power to overwhelm the Phase Shift suits ability to power the Phase Shift or have a exotic component to your attack is fine by me.

Got it, so the Wing units trade power for being cheaper to make and the Seed units have a logistics advantage over a bunch of the other units at the cost of battle time and power for weapons. Something to remember when picking the support for our named characters

I'm surprised Frontal didn't pop a spirit command against the Trans-Amed Kyrios, considering how much of an advantage Kyrios had over him in Trans-Am. Nevertheless, luck was on our side and things went well in the end, even with the somewhat bumpy start. The Sleeves should have a harder time tracking down the Nahel Argama now that they failed to capture the Unicorn and place a tracker on it in the time they had it captive in Palau.

Ah, to be sure we're on the same page, I meant to remind people that the Genesis cannon itself was protected by PSA, and was stated to be resilient enough to withstand such weapons, hence why the need to detonate the Justice and all that. You could say that it had a reactor output and throughput (engine power and top speed, to make a car comparison) to pull that off. Mu's stunt (or what happened with the Strike and the Aegis, as another example with the same suit) is indeed an example of what happens when the strain of the attack exceeds what PSA can protect against.

The Karl is a better or equivalent suit to everything on the field that is not a ace custom suit like our stuff or based of the Nu Gundam in some way like the Sinanju is or the Unicorn is. The Karl is tougher then the current Jegans and as maneuverable as them while also being able to withstand more damage then a Rezel and only losing speed to the transformable MS.
I have always been sure it was cost and the down sizing of Mobilesuits overall that meant it was made in limited numbers.

[X] Delivering a Beatdown at Three Times the Usual Speed, Disabled Unicorn
Yeah, Gustav Karls are as good as mooks get in UC until the miniaturization revolution of the 0110s forward. Even then, it's gonna outperform a Heavygun or the like in everything but maneuverability. It's still not up to snuff with a psychoframe custom unit like the Sinanju, though.
That... .is basically the opposite of the impression I've always gotten from Karls. I always just saw them as lumbering behemoths - powerhouses sure, but it always looked like other MS would dance around it up close. It's one of the reasons why I would've voted for an MP Nu if I'd found the quest back then, another being that the MP Nu is just really da
Banagher Links is traumatized
....... Ah. A perhaps foreseeable outcome, but not a happy one, Unfortunately, Unicorn won't function for anyone but him.

To a degree they probably are slower Earthside then a Jegan because of the increased weight of the suit but Mobilesuits are at their best in space most of the time. Yes the MP would be a better suit in most respects but the questers wanted to see what a Karl could do and it's not doing bad so far.

The Gustav Karl is the mass-produced endgame of the UC 0090s trend of mobile suit design, namely "make it gigantic and then slap more thrusters on it to compensate". It's got a bigger target profile, but its actual maneuverability was on par with a Jegan even under gravity because they just kept slapping more verniers on it.

Then at some point the Federation realized they had been scaling up material use and power needs in parallel for an entire mobile suit generation just to keep up with each other and they could get the same performance out of a machine half the size, and thus, the Heavygun and Formula series were born.

I stan the short, weird kings that are the Crossbone Vanguard and Zanscare mooks, personally, but I've seen very few bad guy MS from any Gundam that I don't like.

To be fair, how often do villains use them in SRW in the first place? I've seen battleships naturally dodge more often.

My favorite is the G Gundam Devil/Dark Army, if only because they're the best damn cosplayers in mecha history, mixed with the Beam Gun Club.

So, giving the Lunar Rebellion Revelation full throttle to the public, which will likely be followed by Laplace's Box within the year...

We're destroying the Federation, aren't we?

They just aren't going to exist within a couple years if we do that. Between Bloody Valentine, Jovian Reveal, Laplace's Box, etc etc...

The question is, do we want to pull the trigger on that now? I think it'll put us in a better light with Tsukomo and other, less genocidal factions if they're paying attention...

Considering how the Lunar rebels wanted to have all the Zentradi that joined up with the Humans killed I don't think that will get them a ton of sympathy from any one but parts of Blue Cosmos as their are probably people who have Zentradi blood on earth and in our cast because of the Gaint Cross over this is.

Komilia Jenius is holding the line on Mars last I remember reading, so given that she's primarily fighting Jovian drones, that's nice and ironic, actually.

Question who is Komilia in realation to Max and Mira Jenius because I know that the Jenius were still fighting together when their oldest Kid went in to the Military but that they split at some point before their youngest kid joined the band with the Variable Fighter with the boom box on it?

Komilia is the eldest of the eight Jenius sisters, with Mylene, the youngest, being the bassist for Fire Bomber you're alluding to. In the original continuity, they were born in 2011 and 2031 respectively, with Max and Milia separating over their conflicting political roles some time between '31 and '45. (I don't know if it's ever specified, but I can't imagine they didn't get back together after the events of Macross 7).

In the TV continuity of Macross, Komilia's personally responsible for resolving a major mop-up operation against Zentradi militants by Max and Milia basically saying "look at this cute baby and tell me you want to keep fighting." They did not want to keep fighting.

What do you mean by the original timeline being different from the last arc of the first Macross series because I thought the TV series was the original Timeline and then you had everything be either a alternant telling of it or splitting of after the series was over.

The way Macross works is that you have the original TV series - Super Dimension Fortress Macross - and the movie, Do You Remember Love, which tells the same story with significant divergences, and then you have all the sequels which pick and choose willy-nilly which one of those things is canon for any given plot element. It's best just to not worry about it, since most of the sequels follow a direct line of continuity with each other, at least.

(Then they also did the same thing again with the TV and movie versions of Macross Frontier, but that's not relevant to this thread. Yet.)

There's also Macross 2, which was made without the consent or input of the original creative team, but nothing considers that one canon.
