Super Robot Quest G

What does the thread think of starting an action next turn to look into the beginnings of a unified theory between C-Crystals, Empathic Boosters, and ESP? Because they all work off of the same principle (more or less stated by the Regent, where the Institute base was rich in "sapient energy" despite the automaton previously having been in populated areas), even if in practice it is a bit like diesel and gasoline engines where the use of them is different (incompatible fuels due to different modes of operation) but they both run off of the same principle.

I don't know if the first phase will have any useful results, but in the end it would save on slots/cost to Super Robots as three systems are slimmed down into one or two. Plus whatever original creations are spun out of it.

SCIENCE!

Also, just a quick admin note: from now on, all future turns will be broken up a bit. I.e., all will conduct the Defense Force portion of the vote first, then we'll do the engineering, and then the Science! portion. Should also help to prevent vote plan bloat like what happened before. Let me know what you all think.

Now, I wanted to get the narrative portion done this week but that's not in the cards due to my schedule. I will get it out next week for sure. I appreciate your patience!

SCIENCE!
Mental Merger (Sam): 1, 1, 1
Sam: Good news first, test subjects - you're not going to turn into vegetables. The awkward news is that Perseus just might be a growing sentience, and we have absolutely no idea why or to what extent. Conduct more testing, we're done here.

ESP Materials Augmentation (Katarina): 6, 3, 3
Katarina: Good news, everybody! You can kind of sort of maybe make things more flammable!
Ivanna: *twitches ever so slightly at the blatant breaking of the laws of physics*

Kaiju - Study Olympic-class Remains (Sam): 2, 4, 6
Sam: I have a lot to unpack here. Short of it is that the leg opens up all kinds of new internal mechanisms, and the thunder lung (yes I'm calling it that, and you can't stop me) does pretty much what you expect, but purpose built for it. The brain...bit of a bust, but I'm seeing things in there that I don't like.
Science Interlude will explain prior to next turn.

Kaiju - Study Crocalisk-class (Ivanna): 3, 4, 2
Ivanna: The scales are almost hollow, but the actual 'carrier' mechanism is not much use to us. It does provide some fascinating ideas on how to construct additional bays or weapons ports. The fire glands...they operate almost on the same principles as the...*sigh* 'thunder lung.' That alone is giving myself and Dr. Carlson some ideas...
Science Interlude will explain prior to next turn.

Kaiju - Study Pterawing-class (Ivanna): 6, 1, 6
Ivanna: The wings are thin leather, but of a frankly marvelous strength and consistency. I'm unsure if we can replicate the exact flight performance of the Pterawings, but if we combined this with Anti-Gravity Solutions and a propulsion system of some kind...
Science Interlude will explain prior to next turn.

Improved Dispersion Field Projection (Zulu): 5, 1, 1
Zulu: Dispersion Field, temperamental, inconsistent. Strengthened fields unable to last for long. Potential solution: disposable charges. Pending review.

Experimentation: C-Crystal Super Robot Integration (Max): 5, 4, 5
Experimentation: C-Crystal Usage Requirements (Max): 6, 6, 5
Beowulf Interlude to follow

QM Interjection: The characters have all organically decided that Faedium fills in a block niche that they were sorely lacking. Who knew?

Energy Blaster w/Faedium and Production (Zulu & Mary): 6, 6, 3
Mary: So considering the redundant overlap we found ourselves in, I decided to pool efforts with Zulu. Currently human sciences are not doing the job because of some initial inherent incompatibilities particularly due to the focusing crystals. We've begun stress testing different variations of faedium structures to see what works and we've gotten some good results!
Zulu: Addendum: receiving very persistent interest in project from Legion. Please advise.

Faedium Crystal Battery (Mary): 4, 3, 2
Mary: Fair's fair with Wilde and Henry, I cribbed their data from the Faedium...'block' engine. These work on a smaller similar scale to that but only combat data is going to tell me if we're on the right track. Should be a good supplement to primary generators.

Decommissioned Rocket Engines (Katarina): 3, 3, 5
Katarina: We, um, had a bit of a misfire, but thankfully Beowulf was on hand to bring it back under control...is it a bad time to mention it gave us some good ideas on how to best use them?
Beowulf Interlude to follow

... The first roll is.. not bad as we can't fail actions anymore, but disappointing nonetheless.

So, did the Beowulf acquire a conscience of his own due to the C-crystal? Or is the Regent taking the old timer for a ride?

I'm more than a little worried about what's going on with that brain. Is it trying to take over our K-Class? Is it spying on us? Is it trying to turn our research staff into its brainwashed slaves? Is it doing all of those at the same time?!

Anyway, as to that bit with the Faedium blasters... did we accidentally make a better gun than the Kausen have? Would be interesting if we've pulled out a second technology that they Really Want, despite being (in their eyes) an incredibly primitive culture.

Probably not any of those? Like Sam actually has ethics, he's found stuff he doesn't like when they were clearing out the old research labs in the University. We're also the best equipped to notice and block brainwashing. So he's probably noticed some stuff about the Brain Structure, perhaps the Kaiju have a Psychic Element.

If we wanted a Sniper unit.... We could take th Centurion model and upscale its cannon there by making it the blaster Super Robot

Yeah, I know that it's probably not gonna be "and then Sam was a kaiju." I was just being overdramatic for my own amusement, mostly.

Consider a bullet that forcefully uploads SuperAI into Kaiji and takes it over from whatever Sheol did with the animal.

Or instead of making a gun for a Super Robot, why don't we make a gun which can transform into a Super Robot?

Having been bit by the reread bug, I have been reminded that we have a twin rotor heavy lift helicopter frame ready for turning into a Configuration pack. I have mentioned that the Perseus would be a good fit for an aquatic combatant and this would serve as a mea s for mobility there but... What if we gave it to Ichiro instead?

As a heavy lift craft it would be capable of limited flight but as a Centurion dodging isn't what it is made for so we can accept that. Ichiro is a SAI and so can multitask to operate it as a Support unit when not directly hooked into it. Likely as a more utility focused platform as he already has firepower.

After all, Beowolf has the Foxhound already, Perseus has applied for the mass pass, and the Thunder... Bolt? Satsuma's mech is already a flier.

What like Megatron (Animated)? I'm thinking of having the rotor-blades integrated with what we learned from the Petrawings that also become swords. Have the new bot become Ichiro's alt-body as the Schneider to his tank body's Panzer

Guys do remember that during it's first refit prior to the Battle at the Harbor against the Dragonfly, Beowulf's eyes flashed temporarily while Callaghan was talking with Wild i think. So we have had hints that there is more going on with that than realized. It's only now with Perseus that we are beginning to realize that there is more going on than we thought at first.

It's only natural for a machine to have feelings and thoughts.

After all, consider the following: What is a machine, but human thoughts made real?

I'm kinda curious if a dispersion field can be used as a form of lifting body under the right conditions. There's obviously some kind of kinetic interaction with the emitter, and that can probably be futzed with using enough SCIENCE! It'd be going for minimizing kinetic dispersion rather than maximizing it like for shields, but a physical shield would have some neat uses even without the kinetic dispersion that makes it good as a defensive measure. Some of the biggest problems with hydrofoils are what to do with them when not using them and moving them around to handle that, and adjusting them to handle different speeds. With what's basically a kinetic forcefield, a lot of those problems start looking like programming problems rather than engineering and material science ones. And you'd also probably be able to use them for a shield when not using them for speed. Hitting that 100-Knot Navy goal finally would be neat.

It'd actually be even more useful with large planes, with them potentially gaining the ability to do things like drastically increase their effective lift area on takeoff, or possibly act as ground-effect vehicles on the runway and convert pretty much anything into something that can do a short takeoff, or acting as a drogue chute so they can do short landings without needing advanced notice and preparations. Heck, make it big enough and you'd have a bowl-shaped watercraft for however long the engine power (and probably some Faedium power storage) held out. Having a skid plate larger than your plane that doesn't leave debris to kick back up into you or cost an absurd amount of weight-budget has got to be useful for surviving crashes somehow.
