Okay, let's see what we got.

I wasn't expecting that, I will need to rethink a few plans. That's a small large surprise.
You'll discover it in the next chapter, but if you're really curious you can look in the spoiler box.
You're sure?
Really sure?
There's no coming back once you know.
I changed my mind you can wait like everyone else. :)

So what do you think? Not that impressive at first glance but it's an at-will summoning of a creature that can casually kill a normal human being.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Feeling more than a little down I decided to swing by my house, hopefully, I could spend time with mom, maybe lunch together.

As it turned out I arrived just in time, she was just starting to cook.

Her welcoming hug felt really good after that morning and I luxuriated in it. We cooked together, and I impressed her with my recently acquired Chef knowledge. While eating, I regaled her with the story of the Wards Tournament, and she appeared impressed by the prowess of the young heroes but also by my partner's courage.

Afterward, I also use the opportunity to show off my new partners with my most recent power, Illusionary Summoning. The ability to call on their images was really useful to show people what they look like, and I could change their size to accommodate more or less room. And the tactical application was also huge.

Mom fell in love with my Pegasi and I promised her that if the occasion presents itself she could meet it for real.

Feeling much better I returned to the HQ a little before two in the afternoon. Despite it being a Sunday I still have a number of things to do.

First, before I forget, again, I summoned Buoy's item, Mystic Water. A simple necklace holding a teardrop-shaped glass container, with sparkling water inside. I'm sure that my pokemon would appreciate the power boost.

I also sent a notification to the national protectorate about it, in case there was some hydrokinetic hero that could find it useful.

While I was on my computer I also sent a message to the PR department asking for a meeting. I need to talk to them about my various themes and while I was at it I asked if I could give Vista her self-defense baton.

Just before I could get up from my desk I received a new email, it was a report from Armsmaster about the tinkertech gun attachment we found this morning.

It turns out that Clank was right, it indeed applies a forcefield to the bullet transforming them into AP rounds. But it didn't stop there, first, the attachment could be fitted on a huge number of guns, shotguns, carabine, riffles, etc… However, it was the second thing that was the most worrying, when the forcefield dissipated it didn't do so quietly but explosively. From the few tests that were conducted on target dummies, the explosion was really small but should it happen while the bullet was in the body the damage could still be tremendous.

These gun attachments appear designed as anti-brute measures. Still, Colin did give one moderately good news. Without maintenance by a competent Tinker, they would fail after less than two hundred shots, depending on the weapons. That still leaves a lot of room for massive damage, but mostly in the short term.

Seeing that I couldn't do anything about that at the moment, I returned to what I had planned, namely serious testing of Solar power. I commandeered the highest resistance testing room and got ready to start. With no technician present today, Clank would serve as my assistant.

I whispered. "Ready Solar?"

[ANTICIPATION]

The most urgent thing to try, even if I already used the power a little, was seeing its effect on my clothes and on my partners in contact directly with me. As expected both transformed with me and became part of my mass, returning to normal afterward. Of course, they couldn't use their power in that state, putting them in a sort of suspended animation.

This only applied to the physical one, for my Djinn it didn't change anything and Flare even said that he enjoyed it.

After that I move on to the main event, transforming. I started by switching my whole body to plasma and then increasing my mass to the maximum. This increases my height by around half as much. That done I started playing with my shape, using my perfect knowledge of anatomy to experiment, in particular, based on my partners.

One by one I took the shape of White, Thorne, Weaver, Swift, and others. The act of transforming itself was natural in a way that was hard to define. I just needed to picture the result with as much detail as I could and the transformation followed smoothly. Transforming wasn't instant but it was still quite fast, enough to be combat viable.

Moving once transformed took a little practice, particularly if it involved more limbs than my normal four. But it doesn't take too long, certainly a secondary effect of my Trainer and Veterinary power, with all the knowledge on how animals could move. The multiple Minds helped too. I still need to remember that I only took the shape of those creatures but not necessarily their unique property. Taking a spider shape did not allow me to climb on walls. Well, unless I transformed my legs into stakes but I didn't want to destroy the wall.

Sadly the room was too small for me to practice flying, I would do that another time.

The next thing to do was combine shapes. I must admit that I got a little carried away. Even Clank was unsettled by the tentacle's abomination with eye and pincer combo at end of each one. I wouldn't go that far in public.

I did not settle on a specific combination of parts, the greatest boon of Solar power was certainly its adaptability. But I noted a number of very useful elements. Additional eyes and ears were the first things. As a bonus, they all benefit from my enhanced senses so I didn't need many, just a few to cover blind spots.

Next, you can't really go wrong with a few additional limbs but not too many otherwise they tangle each other. Four legs and six arms or tentacles was the best compromise I could find. A sort of centauroid shape with two arms on the flank and two tentacles at the rear.

Adding wings was possible but difficult without making sacrifices in other body parts, a body optimized for flying needs an important wingspan relative to the body size and an aerodynamic profile.

Of course, a number of my partners could fly despite breaking several laws of physics most notably Red and Pegase. But in their case, it was because of innate magical power.

The last thing to test was the control I had on the temperature of my plasma. Notably the speed of the change and the area that would be heated.

It was Clank that pointed out an interesting tidbit right at the start of the test. The heat from my plasma skin wasn't transmitted to my immediate environment beyond a few centimeters. I asked Solar and he said that he was recycling the energy emitted.

Thinking about it, I judge it to be a good thing. I could reach my highest temperature without endangering my allies and only truly touching someone or something could damage it. Wooden structures wouldn't catch on fire just because I was near. I sent a silent thanks to Solar for that.

[SATISFACTION]

Returning to our test, we start with speed. Going from minimum to maximum heat took roughly five minutes and half that in the other direction. It was good to know that I couldn't go all out right from the start but also that I would get "stronger" the longer the combat lasted, up to a point anyway.

The second part of your test was seeing if I could have different temperatures on different parts of my body. And the response was yes and no. I could vary the temperature at different points but the less distance between two points the less difference I could have. If I have my fingertips at 1500°C my palm couldn't go below 1400° and my wrist, not below 1200°, and so on.

This too was mostly a good thing, I could keep my feet at a reasonable temperature so as to not melt the ground under me but still have my hand really hot to deal damage.

It took a little longer than I anticipated but we were finished with our test. I sent a question to my Shard. "Are you happy with those results Solar?

[CONTENTEMENT][DATA]

He appeared to appreciate it and was busy compiling the information gained.

On my way back to my office I felt a new presence settle in my soul. It felt different than usual, less mobile, so I asked my Minds to look into it.

So I hesitate to use the word weird because we already gained strangers in the past and I'm sure we'll get even more bizarre things in the future. But still, this one is weird./ Yep, it's a magic staff that counts as a normal summonable partner, once per day limit and everything./ However it can be used to summon a giant vampire frog. As often as we like.

I was pondering that revelation when I heard a confused voice coming from my wrist, from Spy.

"What's that thing? A slug? But I can hear my own voice coming from it?"

I wasn't expecting that, someone managed to hijack Spy?

Spy is the black den mushi mushi so i guess it could be Taylor. Also power because well lots of good powers plus some powers get us creatures (like we did with the staff). Also our new form + our multi processing power is quite versatile since we can control the multiple limbs.

Edit- hmm 4 more powers have been added since i last made a copy

What? Is that somebody else in the room talking and Spy picked up on the radio?
[X] Power

Hmm, Taylor is a good guess. That or dragon.
Did Taylor come by for a visit? Dragon? ...No Idon't think Dragon would be able to 8nteract with it?

Vampire frog sounds interesting how big is it? Can you use Swarm on it?

Because AP guns scary.

The frog itself comes up roughly to the waist of an average human. Much too big for Swarm. And in any case, powers that can only be applied at the time of the summoning do not work with the frog because you summon the staff. And then you use the staff to summon the Frog.

AP explosive rounds.

Swarm is also specifically mentioned as not being usable on the Summoning Items, so you couldn't use Swarm on a small summoning item to pass out 99 copies either.
-Summoning items count as creatures for the purpose of your powers, except Swarm.

Does it count against our summoning limit?
What is it's weapon form? A deadly party favor? The blowout kind that unravels as you blow air thru it?

[X] Power

Huh, wasn't expecting a staff but very useful all the same. Having it means he'll never be without a summon again, and it's weak enough to bring with him on patrols, not to mention it looks scary enough to be shot first.

The best thing about the Staff is even if the creature "dies" we can immediately re-summon it with the staff meaning we got ourselves a decent front-liner/fodder summon.

Edit: The frog could also be useful with our Designated Target power also since we don't have to worry about it being down for long.

Edit2: Also looking at it that thing is fast imagine it with Speed Boost or Haste.

The frog seems to be invincible so outside being a scary combatant, it can also act as a tank and/or a distraction.

Yes.

Just to clarify, for a question of game balance, no creatures summoned by items from Terraria will be invincible in the quest. I consider that to be purely a mechanical effect in the game. And because in that case, they would be much costlier.
