MOST.
BRUTAL.
REGIME.
IMAGINABLE!
They may not have more than around ~150 million people between them, but they are just that fucking horrific to live upon. You wanna know what their medical infrastructure is like? A dude that knows you need to boil bandages and clean wounds to keep infections out. And he has neither bandages nor clean water nor something to boil it.
Also, I think it should be noted that in the past this was roughly the same amount of infrastructure costs it would take to integrate 1 planet, yet here we are integrating 4 planets at once with incredibly shitty conditions. This is a sign of just how big we've gotten, and how soon enough we should be able to integrate more worlds at less infrastructure cost.
Shot for shot we can make a better ship, But the sword is getting a LOT of bonus points from equipment bonuses that apply to corner cases/every day use.
It's also important to keep in mind they have 3 Detriments from how they are, and they have short range weaponry b/c of it and our Crux's are faster than them.

Sagittarius-Class Artillery Frigate Mk 2 - 12DP
-Length - 1,700m
-Width - 400m
-Acceleration - 6 Gravities
-Armor - Single Hull
-Shields - Three Emitters
-Weapons - 3x Light Prow Lance - 9DP
-Equipment - Pure Lenses, Superior Gravimetric Engines - 3DP

I feel like this could be a decent Mk 2, though Sniper is probably a better name for it than Artillery. Might be better to swap a Prow Lance for better shields and more Equipment though, we'll see what happens.

Bear in mind it's also got three different Detriments.

I'd prefer a light or medium lance turret instead of a third prow. 2 prow lances are good enough for a frigate, and I'd like a turret so it can shoot at hostiles that aren't directly in front of it.

Not really a great choice there Karnax, because Prow Lances get that extreme damage output by having a very slow firing rate.

Void Shields excel at Just Saying Now to individual, very powerful attacks. They functionally work by going "I must receive X number of attacks in Y window before any further attacks get resolved, all below that threshold are negated".

So having three very powerful, individual attacks, means it's useless against anything heavier than a destroyer because it doesn't have the Rate of Fire to overcome more than maybe one or two Void Shield ranks before they refresh.

Two light Lances for high rate of fire, set them up as turrets, then a light prow lance to launch the killing blow. Combine this with a high mobility, high agility hull and we've got a winner that can kite targets while still being able to pivot around to bring the main gun to bear.

I've been presuming it'd work best as part of a fleet, with other ships able to wear down the shields so this one can then snipe them.

You'd have a point if they were intended to be used by themselves, but these are frigates, if they're fighting all on their own either something has gone wrong or you didn't have enough ships to begin with. Think of them as support ships that stay off as far away as possible and snipe at targets that have already been weakened, and if any hostile a get close that's when it's time for them to fall back, and shields are better for skirmishing than armor

Quick aside but have we ever gotten Medical to V? I don't think I ever saw it but maybe if we did then we could probably get some trait to help with the cost of absorbing planets...or something

We haven't gotten Medical to V yet. Last I checked, getting it to V would allow us to do medical research or something like that (I.e. figure out how to get Bonehead Ogryns, Ogryns that are slightly smarter than the average Ogryn with the IQ of a 4 year old).

The funny thing of the Imperium is that it can even be worse. Just see the Age of Apostasy (one of the few things that the Imperium is disgusted, and ashamed).

There are even worse cultures than the Imperium in fiction. Like the Draka (would easily fall to Slaanesh), The Tsalals from Green Antartica (I don´t care what people say, they aren´t human, and are in reality a Chaos Society), or the fucking Coalition of Xeelee sequence (The imperium would hate them, and Chaos would see them as too stupid).

No. They work on the line of "Inflict X Damage before Y Time allows the generators to re-establish the field and depleted/overheated energy/machinery."
40k Fandom Wiki said:
Void Shields have a maximum tolerance and can be overloaded by sustained weapons fire or massive collisions, forcing the generators to shut down temporarily to vent the excess kinetic or directed energy, leaving the ship's unprotected hull open to attack.

Huh, okay then. That might actually make a triple prow lance viable, though maybe something of an engineering crisis

Integrating imperial planets does seem like it would strain anybody's resources.

Will we get a research option to make it cheaper? Or is the best way to prepare to integrate just to pump medical/civilian industry?

Side question - will we ever get big enough that an action spent upgrading industry will count for two ranks? Or is it stuck at one?

Definitely seems like a civilian industry milestone upgrade.

Though naturally, with how many worlds we're going to be integrating in the future, the Faith and civilian government would have plenty of experience in integrating new worlds, seeing what works and what doesn't, etc.

412.M42 - They Were Here
There shall be graves for the Forgotten, those whose bodies and stories are never told and recovered. Those whose struggles are invisible to the eyes of the caring, and the eyes of the cruel. The parents who grieve for a life that never was, the siblings who weep for those who never returned, the friends lighting a candle upon an altar for a name never again heard spoken for the one they miss.

There shall be monuments for the Martyrs, those who fought beyond fighting, whose duty extended beyond death, and who burned themselves to serve a greater good. They shall not have their names burned out within the memories of their peers with time but burned into the rock and metals that shall cast themselves into their likeness and their deeds. There shall be bells for their souls departed and hymns sung to revere their faith and dedication.

There shall be rites for those whose bodies will never return. There will be tears shed for all who die. There will be mourning, for in grief can the dead be laid to rest.

There shall be ghosts of their passings evermore.

For they were here.

How will you remember the Forgotten? How will you honor the Martyrs?
(6-Hour Moratorium)

-[] Name

(What will the places you will lay your honored dead, those who died in combat and service to the Star Child? Be it with their bodies or without.)
-[] Location/s
(Will it be one central location or multiple?)
-[] Appearance
(How do these location/s look like from the outside?)
-[] Inner Workings
(How do they look from the inside?)
-[] The Forgotten
(How will those who cannot be given a grave be remembered?)
-[] The Martyrs
(How will you pay homage to your Martyrs?)
-[] (Other)
(Something you wish to add.)

[Y] With Gentle Wings Embrace'
-[] Angylariums
-[] Each system will have one of its own, circling around the system's star. Should a system have two or more, the Angylarium will instead either circle the primary star or be stationed within its center of gravity.
-[] The Angylariums take the appearance of a winged humanoid whose legs have been embalmed and who does not possess arms. Instead, two massive wings extend from the station and circle around itself as if to embrace those who come to visit. Example1. Example2.
-[] The Angylarium's inner appearance harkens to ancient mausoleums, with steps taken to dampen the noises of visitors at every moment. Candles can be lit in shrines throughout the station, and small churches offer places for solace and for mourners to pray within.
-[] At the entrance of each Angylarium, there will be massive monoliths that visitors must pass to enter, and each one's surface is adorned by handprints painted onto their surface by the very same. Prayers of protection and gratitude are etched onto their surfaces, and the monoliths are removed only once they have been filled. Once that happens, these monoliths replace one of the blank feathers of the Angylarium's wings and, thanks to radiation-resistant paint, will be able to show the painted marks of life for generations.
-[] The graves for the Martyrs are humble affairs, for though they gave more than could be asked for, their souls are not here and judge those giving homage and tribute to their deeds. A name and a mask, one fashioned after their face, hang over a tablet underneath an urn filled with the ashes of their body. These tablets contain their life and the prayers of all who visited and wished to enter them into their memory. Blessed incense slowly burns within each shrine dedicated to fifty-five Martyrs.
-[] The faithful are encouraged to aid in the cleaning and upkeep of an Angylarium. Additionally, a regular shuttle system exists to transport pilgrims and visitors every week to and from an Angylarium.
