[] Plan: Psyker Heresy Intensifies
-[] [Psykana] Sing a Song (Protection I, The Home I, Unity I, Song II)
-[] Send our fastest ships to raid enemy infrastructure, with a focus on mining efforts.
-[] [Chapter] Ships For The Fleet (1/3)

We've got two advantages over them, the Space Maroons and our Choir, so let's use them. Thoughts on the song and keywords? Could also send in our entire fleet for a hit-and-run.

if we *have* to raid for supplies...fighting on an agri world would probably allow us to not only save any slaves that the imperials are using, but also steal their crops and supplies...

Question @HeroCooky , what's the better choice from the perspective of just bashing through fixed defenses. Another Libra-S, a squadron of Lupus, or a Squadron of Aries-S? Or would having another pair of Troopships be better for us?

We'll only have room for 1 more ship under Andromeda Leadership once we get the second one, so building a Libra-S will be our best bet for additional offensive firepower.

I would go with something like:

[] Plan Prepping for a counterstrike
-[] [General] Develop The Federations'...
--[] Military Industry IV
-[] [Military] [Construct] A Warp Ship x2
--[] Libra-Secundus Class Light Carrier
--[] Andromeda Class Command Ship

Then, either the enemy attacks us this turn and we can counterstrike after we see the main fleet off, or we launch the offensive ourselves with full coverage from the Navigator Song, leaving the Battlecolonies behind as a rear guard in Itani. Or we bring them with us if Neon manages to kill 2 of the ships in Task Fleet Beta.

I'd say we build an Andromeda or a Libra and build military industry to get it to 5. And then next turn we build another Andromeda plus Libra or more frigates and do Void Industry 8

Genuine question, but is there a point to building military industry right now? We're fighting mostly in space and if we dominate the orbitals then they're fucked either way, regardless of how strong their infantry is.

I believe it relates to logistics and supply lines, being able to send parts to repair our ships. Void means we can build all the parts needed to fix our fleet of any dmg, but military is how fast and how many parts we can send to the front lines to our navy

We're fighting in space on the defensive, but when we go on the offensive we're going to have to take Neon's planets from them. And to do that, we'll need to land SAGs and Knights, all of which will benefit from a more robust military logistical infrastructure.

And I'll be clear, I'm going to be advocating hard for launching an attack on Neon next turn, regardless of whether they break their mobile forces against our defenses or not this turn. They are building up more industry faster than we are, and if we want to turn that momentum around, we have to start taking star systems from them. So I want to take Brotar, and start pushing down one of the branches and clearing Neon out, tearing away their logistical backing and at the same time strengthening our own base.

I think I'm going to vote for @BigBadBob7070 's plan:

[] Plan Readying for combat.
-[] Construct A Warp Ship - [Andromeda-Class]
-[] Construct A Warp Ship - [Libra-Secundus]
-[] Military IV

Sets us up for finishing the Lamenters' ships next turn and getting Mil V and another ship(s).

The ability to supply your Units engaged in active conflict, ensure they are operating at 100% strength, their ability to perform offensive and defensive operations, utilization of rare weapons/equipment as long as supply lines exist, faster conquering/harder defenses of planets, and the means to, effectively, wage wars of any kind without straining your ability to open more fronts.

To avoid making mistakes through faulty assumptions...
Does this include Voidships in "units", or is this just for the things fighting on a planet?

Otoh, we should leave some ships in Itani in case Neon wants to attack our backline. So we could build more Frigates or Destroyers and leave the extra ones as a homeguard.

[] Plan: Ships, Military and More Planets!
-[] [Military] [Construct] A Warp Ship - [4x Aries-Secundus-Class Corvette]
-[] [General] Develop The Federations'...
--[] Military Industry IV
-[] [General] Colonize (Silista X)

Edit: Oh, just saw QM's post.

[] Plan: Fine, have some ships.
-[] [Military] [Construct] A Warp Ship - [4x Aries-Secundus-Class Corvette]
-[] [Military] [Construct] A Warp Ship - [4x Aries-Secundus-Class Corvette]
-[] [Military] [Construct] A Warp Ship - [4x Aries-Secundus-Class Corvette]

I would like to apologize for posting that comment. As said, it was disingenuous and not reflective of what you had been shown. I am sorry.
Think we can spend a research action to attempt to have stealth ships, copy the neon ships?
They used Silent Running to get close, meaning they cut power and shut off anything not needed to keep the air flowing and the ship capable of seeing.
again, we were just shown that they suffered no damage, no casulties, retreated in good order, DESPITE BEING TOLD that our defenses were mad because we had light cruisers for defensive measures...

Aries-Secundus for sheer firepower, Libra-Secundus if you favor attacking multiple times a turn (raiding).

On a planet for the most part, but serves as a way to supply overall offensive campaigns in enemy territory, so you don't just stop getting food, munitions, medicine, etc. for your Navy.

checked with cooky:
Yes there is.
While mostly for on planet battle it also helps supplying Navy, too.

do we though? Like, it's morally not great, but we do have the option of doing to them what they wanted to do to us: to raid and nuke their worlds from orbit and retreat, especially strategically important targets like the mining worlds they're short on.

then let's throw chocolate at them (and our tasty MREs)

@HeroCooky if we build some ships, would our andromeda take them to the front lines or will that take an action?

Firstly, I don't think that the state we have constructed would be able to get away with nuking human civilian populations from orbit just because it is more convenient than taking those planets-that's Imperium shit, and we've been doing a hell of a lot to distance ourselves from the Imperium.

Secondly, we have to expand if we want to survive. We need to increase the scale of our actions, and the only way to do that is by growing our territory and economy. Going through Neon is the only option we have for that, because in the other direction are Actual Imperials who have 4 times our navy's power guarding against what they expect will be a minor WAAAAGH while also fighting a presumably fairly significant Chaos Incursion somewhere on the other side of their territory. Nuking those planets into slag just means we'll have to invest even more into redevelopment once we secure the system, as opposed to just bringing everything up to our standard.

Yeah? That is kinda the reason you went Icono in the first place? To be the better option? You can just kill all the people on those planets, but 90% would join you without hesitation if you chucked a half-eaten chocolate bar at them.
Look, I've already agreed that it's not a very moral option, I'm well aware of that part, but taking and holding a strategically crucial planet is a very different proposition from nuking it into oblivion difficulty-wise, especially when faced with what seems like a significantly superior force, plus it's not like we have the transport capacity to evacuate those 90% of the population either I don't think.
I guess we could invade it and make the Neons spend the money on the nukes when they come in to take it back, that would be fiscally responsible.

Ethical and moral obligations are not optional.

Edit: I confused this thread with the 40k Xeno quest, but my point still stands.

Any ship you build will be in Itani at the end of the Turn.

They are not going to nuke their own machinery. They spent too much money on getting the planets you know of up and running. And that same population (of any one planet) can be crammed into any 20-ship Choir-Guided fleet you have and sent back within a year, they are not yet at the multi-million levels.

To do any of that we need to win the war first though. If we can build enough ships to manage to do that then that's great, but the other side of the coin of us building more is making the enemy build fewer ships, and a mining world is presumably among the least populated targets there is among Imperial planets relative to their strategic importance. None of this is about convenience, but about strategically undermining the enemy's productive capacities, in order to be able to actually win the war, especially since we're only a side-show to the actual war they are prosecuting against so-far unnamed heretics.

And that same population (of any one planet) can be crammed into any 20-ship Choir-Guided fleet you have and sent back within a year, they are not yet at the multi-million levels.
That certainly puts the odds in a very different light. If we can actually effect a Grand Theft Mining Planet operation then by all means, don't bust out the atomics.
