Oh yeah @HeroCooky , question real quick.

Crusader Fleet Doctrine means that our DP for the first weapon type is halved, does that mean we could equip 2 DP Light Weapons and have them count as 1 DP for the purposes of the Grand Cruiser "Can equip an absolute shitload of guns as long as they're not costing more than 1 DP each?"

It's fine if they can't though, equipping like, 16 Light Macrocannons is still a fine solution to anything getting too close to our Fleet Tender.

I mean, the Black Cat Battleship has, like, 24 Light Macro-Cannon and 16 Light Lance Turrets. So...go nuts?

Should we make our first Grand Cruiser a support ship for the Archeotech expeditions? Stick a couple of large troop bays, a bunch of supporting shrines, large repair bay, and some weapons for defense? We'll want to design and build one soon to get the penalties pushed down, and making the ship a support ship for the long range expeditions would be ideal.
I think they will also need a way to produce food.

👍 we will one day find out what the Thule are horny! Also do we have battleship yet because if not then damn

VI 16 sadly.

That being said, Grand Cruisers are already largely Lostech as far as the Old Imperium is concerned, so we've surpassed all but the very best Forge Worlds already!

Good to know.

Can you give me an idea of what the cost of what the Fleet Supply Boost Equipment might cost, or would the Large Repair Bay cover it?

Added them to the list. Medium-to-Monumental Manufacturies.

Thank you!

Here's the final draft then.

[Grand Cruiser] Aquarius-primus Fleet Tender
-[] Length
- 7.800 Meters (-5 DP)
-[] Width - 2.000 Meters (-4 DP)
-[] Acceleration - 2.4 Gravities (-3 DP)
-[] Armor - Thick Fortress Armor (-4 DP)
-[] Shields - Two Aegides (-3 DP)
-[] Weapons - 6x Light Macrocannon Turrets (-3 DP)
-[] Equipment - Sanctum of the Steam/Hymns of the Machines/Large Repair Bay/Large On-Board Manufactory (-41 DP)

The First true Super-Capital Ship designed by the Glimmering Federation, the Aquarius-primus fills a much needed niche in its battlegroups as a mobile fleet-support unit, able to perform field maintenance and material fabrication with resources produced in the field. While heavily armored and shielded, with considerable mass backing each such structure, the Aquarius design is lightly armed, only having a mere six light macrocannon turrets along its hull, more a deterrent to the occasional lucky raider than a genuine military asset.

Still, it provides tremendous capacity to supplement a mobile force, in a similar vein to the Andromeda-class, indeed, each Aquarius is also equipped with a Hymnnal Link to add just a few more ships to any force they serve alongside. It's hoped that a second tranche down the line as the Federation gains experience with such colossal voidship design will add additional functionality, once the major stumbling blocks have been worked through.

Should we standarize another 1DP equipment?

Armored Lifepods wouldn't hurt, but we've still got Things To Do to prepare for going absolutely Crazy with the All-X. Which will also help us with the upcoming partnerships we're lining up because it means that we're setting our minimum Inf floor to X.

But yeah, notably, the Aquarius is a match in speed for even Chaos Grand Cruisers, which are shit from the height of the Imperium's technological and infrastructural might. It's meant to sit along with the Andromeda gang and come in afterwards to handle field repairs and resupply, while giving the Andromeda Gang a handful of flyswatters.

They're also not a burden to any fleet attached to them as they bring a Hymns of the Machine in with them. I'm hoping going all in with the Structural stuff too helps us develop our experience with Grand Cruisers enough that the second draft will have more DP freed up, but for a Large Manufactory And a Large Repair Bay, I think I had to go with Maximum Mass.

Superior Gravimetric is damn near ubiquitous and always useful for our doctrine, yeah, so that would be a good Standardization for 2 DP

Hmm. Plan draft. Feedback?

[] Plan: Battleships Ho!
-[] [Free] Consecrate In Sacred Sand (Chad Swamp - Gigachad)
-[] [Free] [Psykana] Put any free Choirs beyond 50 onto A Hiss of the Steam Valves, prioritize sanctification of the titan, the new Knights & the Lamenters Battle-Barge to make them Chaos Resistant.
-[] [General] Develop The Federations'...
--[] Void Industry XIV (0/1)
--[] Medical Services VII (0/1)
--[] Medical Services VIII (0/1) (Mechadendrite action)
-[] [Military] Construct A God-Engine (Let's see what 1 action gets us)

The last flex action could also be tech, but I'd prefer to make a titan to ensure our Black Ash duels go well. Really I just want to get to all-X so we can unify with the Shipwright's Grove.

Next turn is something like get Medical X & Void XV, with the third action spent on either Void XVI for battleships or turning on The Grand Design so if we choose Bounty of Labor we get all the good tech. Or we could delay a single turn so that we can get the last necron gun tech & unlock the next swathe of Necron tech with A Bounty of Labour.

Regardless, the above turn sets us up well with all of them.

I think guns are as heavy as they can get at this point outside of Special Weapons honestly, the only thing we're really lacking from the core meta before this was Fleet Support stuff, and we have that now.

Light Cruisers are being constructed continuously at a rate of ~10 per decade, with ~15 Destroyers or Frigates in the same timeframe. Their shipwrights are currently hard at work trying to reproduce two ship types (one to imitate, one to defeat) similar to the Bloody Midnight-Class Light Cruiser of the Lamenters Space Marine Chapter after their impressive (to us) and terrifying (to them) showing in the Croaf Liberation Crusade. It is hard to overstate the terror a boarding and ramming ship can elicit when it seems to be capable of outright shattering the spines of Light Cruisers of similar weight, outright seemingly "eating" their unfortunate targets and ripping them apart, with the singular Grand Cruiser, the 'Providence of Our Eminence,' of the Croaf Hegemony falling to a pack of Bloody Midnights inflicting heavy ramming-damage before disgorging over three-hundred Lamenters into its guts, over-running it within twenty-seven minutes and forty-three seconds. Their Master of Ships, Il-Aluth, called the showing "sub-par" and ordered harsh refresher training for all Companies.
I would like to bring this to attention, since I haven't seen anyone commented that Lamenters terrified the BAA with their Bloody Midnight ships, especially with how they rammed the crap out of the Croaf's Grand Cruiser and then boarded and overran it in under half an hour (which the Master of Ships called a "sub-par" performance)

There's also that fairly impressive construction rate.

XIV is safe, XV is UH OH.

Unless we have CI XVI.

Huh, I wonder if we got any legs up on our Grand Cruiser design studies by having an example of one to study?
