Star Wars An Officer and a Traitor (NO SV, you are an Imperial Officer and Traitor)

+10 due to the omakes incoming.

Also, everyone... I love the energy, though one thing: We are not going to be getting the stuff.

For now.

WHY AREN'T WE FUNDING THIS!? Anyway yeah star craft gear would be a major help
Because in actuality they not be very good as its ultimately a machine that doesnt actually understand what it wants to be.

Tanks work because they are heavily armored direct artillery pieces capable of moving at fast speeds so as provide the means for a breakthrough. This means you dont want anything that isnt needed for the job on them because this limits their speed. The stabilizer legs are not needed for the job of a tank, so when in tank mode it is carrying around a bunch of heavy machinery. So you know, theres goes some speed. Also, they cant be placed under the armor if you want the armor to work, so you have to place them on the outside. Which means they are probably going to be broken often by enemy fire as it charges around the frontline or even the enemy backline being an absolute menance.

Artillery meanwhile work (at least with SW tech levels) because they provide long range accurate heavy firepower. This is best done by not having in positions they can risk having to deal with enemy forces. This tends to mean however that artillery is a good counter-artillery option...which means you need to be at least able to survive shrapnel. You also will need to move to support the front line constantly. This means the ability to move rapidly.

Its here where we see the big issue of the siege tank: it wants to both be able to romp around the front line while also being an artillery piece that likes to sit behind the front line. These rolls are asking for things that are at direct odds with each other. This means that the tank has to carry around heavy machinery to stabilize it in artillery mode...but when the artillery is being artillery, its basically wasting one of your tanks in the back line. The siege tank is very much a case of Works in Video Game Land only.

If we want to use the chassis of the siege tank, we are better off stripping it of everything to do with artillery. That way we get a decent tank. As for artillery? Look, we just commision Loratus Manufacturing to design the "Mobile Proton Torpedo Launcher Model 2a".

For those wondering, the MPTL-2a is what happens when someone rightly decides that the clone army's artillery:
1: Wasnt the greatest
2: Remembers that a proton torpedo is ultimately a missile that one can fit several of inside a fighter craft,
3: Notes that many clone wars artillery are bigger than a fighter and that an artillery piece has plenty more room for launchers and ammo due to not needing to fly
4: Installs Nine Proton Torpedo Tubes into a vehicle.

This BTW, was the artillery mainly used by the rebellion. Because aparently, when it comes to artillery, the rebellion is the one who decided the proper response is level your fucking postal code, not the empire.

Musings on possible Henry Stickmin expy.
Not an omake, more posting thoughts on how he and/or key players may be 'ported into the Setting'. Henry Stickmin might be interpreted as an exceptional force sensitive, for better or worse thanks to the fact that it's near purely instinctual, meaning any use is very unreliable making him both a magnet for attention without really aiding his general capabilities. Which, would leave him leaning on his prodigious adaptability, and tendency to stumble upon what he needs to get out of his situation. Though the foundation is a highly adaptable troublemaker with a habit of landing himself in trouble, and getting himself out of it in inventive ways. A character that chases after wealth and is somewhat grandiose to his own detriment, and loyal to a fault for those that manage to become one of his few friends.

Charles Calvin, on the other hand is relatively simple. A young pilot of prodigious skill, yet lacking somewhat lacking in most other skills. Raised in the military, he might be a Clone wars veteran that finds himself a bit more comfortable among clones than most. Someone whom was raised in the army by a rather open-minded genera, considering Commander Hubert Galeforce DID recruit a somewhat notorious thief in a gambit to take down a major criminal organization. One note is that Charles is rather easy-going, and while a little awkward in social, did become very fast friends with Henry. Though Charles has one central trait, his strong loyalty to his friends, and willingness to risk himself for those he cares about. Hubert Galeforce if here, is probably dragged into our Task Force due to being more of an air cav force, and the practical mindset that allows him to work with unlikely individuals.

Ellie Rose, is more a career criminal, a veteran of the underworld that is decidedly a bit more professional than Henry. Level head, decent experience and armed with connections. She is fiercely loyal to those she consider friends, and overall is a kindred spirit of sorts with Henry

The warden, Dmitri Johannes Petrov is ironically rather easily portable to the setting, being a figure that Palpatine may somewhat appreciate. Very proud of his reputation, very callous, serious, and uncaring of the why's the prisoners are there. He may not be the best Palpatine could think of(not Sithy enough). But as a warden, he would be a very scary enemy of any group that is stuck dealing with him.

A Warden's Rage
"Damn it! I shall have their heads for this!"
"Maybe we shoul-"
*Table Cracks*
"My Reputation is RUINED! 50 years I had been running this prison, 50 years of there not even being ONE! SINGLE! INCIDENT!"
*The warden takes a breath.*
"Not even a day since he was incarcerated, this, Henry, staged a mass breakout! This, one man has done more damage than all of my rivals combined. IN A SINGLE DAY!"
"Perhaps we should focus on repairs..."
"I almost had him. He was right there, in my hands..."
"We do have some connections, which should help in tracking them down."
"Grigori, wasn't there something about Henry possibly working with someone in the Military?"
"Someone really wanted to cover his tracks, between the difficulty to get what we had and the conflicting reports, it is hard to say what is true and what is misleading."
"So someone is trying to protect this disaster maker?"
"Or trying to recruit them, hard to say, since there is sometimes mentions of inquisitors I found in my investigations. He may be a potential target for recruitment."
"All the more reason to hunt them down, no way can we let Henry stay escaped, ESPECIALLY to let some other Imperial group recruit him."
"The girl, Ellie, seems like she may possibly have had some history with him."
"It's clear she is a follower, it's clear that Henry is the one we need to really care about, besides the fact he cares about the girl."
"We do need some sort of lead. But they do need to get off planet somehow, something to keep an eye on."
"Putting the planet on lockdown, no matter how much I wish I could do it, is very infeasible."
*The warden Sighs*
"Gonna have to try and pull favors to try and get co-operation to ensure assistance on hunting the fugitive aren't I. With my reputation in tatters, that isn't gonna be easy."
"On the contrary, there is one way to gain support. Among the reports, there is a name that might be useful. General Galeforce."
"How would he be relevant?"
"Him and his forces were recently reassigned to Task Force Shield, and with the doctrine wars, many officers would eagerly leap at the chance to inconvenience them."
"Good. See about forming a unit to chase him down. And I will personally join to take henry down."

A/N: Well. Decided to do a little omake. Keeping things somewhat vague. Basically being a loosely set after a similar to Convict Allies events took place, leaving a Warden on the Warpath to destroy the man who destroyed him.

The Klink Hammer
The Klink Hammer
The thing about the Siege tank, while it was originally designed in part to fill the role of tank and artillery, does neither job that well. But at the same time, the Siege tank has acquired a reputation while used by the Raiders rebel group. When perusing the articles and reports on the engagements, I discovered the reason. Much like how the Venator was a multirole ship that happened to stumble on a new concept, the Siege tank also did so. For the focus we put has created an interesting situation, where we have a vehicle that hunker down to bombard vulnerable enemies or use special munitions on the field, or provide anti-armor support in it's mobility mode. This has led them to being deployed in a way different than either role it was meant to fill, largely being support units for the forces they are attached to. Putting a level between true artillery and mortars in the hands of field commanders, while also giving the anti-armor capabilities of a tank. Something which we should keep in mind for any redesign or upgrade.

No, onto the Klink Hammer. This is our foray into true artillery. Taking the artillery cannon of the siege tank and putting it onto a specialized and bigger chassis. Being able to drip most of the armor, and armed with less bulky and faster stabilizer deployment, it is built to be able to shoot-and-scoot to avoid counter-fire. The bigger gun, taking advantage of it's size and lack of need for transform tech, is able to pack more bang, boosting the power per shot, and even a small increase of range. While they can't compete against the MTPL, which basically responds to it's competition by just throwing proton torpedoes at whatever troubles you, the Klink Hammer brings the same advantage the Siege tank has, but with more power due to being a true artillery unit. Alternative ammunition, which allow for tactics and strategies proton torpedoes would not allow, such as possibly using EMP shells, or Napalm to start a fire in an area, or even simply going for bigger or smaller explosions by using different ammunition, like Antimatter. This design would also manage to be around the cost of a siege tank, as the reduced need for armor and the simplification brought by being more specialized, makes up for the increase from size and the fast deploy, and movement. The points of speed is there to use the time to target of the projectiles, to reposition before enemy counterbattery gets launched, potentially giving them a small edge in artillery duels against most of their contemporaries.

A/N: Well, I was kinda thinking a bit, so here. Partly musings on the siege tank design, which honestly, probably fits a role very similar to what it has in the games themselves, in spite of the games and lore having major differences in capability. The Klink Hammer basically takes the art gun, and makes a dedicated artillery unit from it, using the focus on the design to fix some of the issues. May be outmatched in power and fire rate compared to the proton torpedo launcher platform, but the nature of the platform does give unparalleled versatility due to the higher ability to diversify ammunitions.

Actually, it competes pretty well with the MTPL.

But thats because the first MTPL was very bad due to being slow as fuck square box. The MTPL-2a is the one you see used in Empire at War and was directly designed the way it was to fix the issues of the first. Granted, most empire forces would rarely see the first model since it was so bad. Instead they more often met the monster sequel.

Least its not the AA version of the AT-AT, that things fucking weird. and yes, there is an AA AT-AT, it has a Turbolaser Ion Cannon on the back, for Anti-Everything work or if a smaller Escort/Sub-Capital enters atmo near it, it can get a lucky pot shot in. before, ya know, being obliterated by every weapon on said ship XD

All Terrain Ion Cannon

The All Terrain Ion Cannon (AT-IC) was an uncommon variation of the All Terrain Armored Transport walker equipped with a massive ion cannon. Although ion cannons were rarely found aboard ground vehicles, the Galactic Empire converted a small number of its All Terrain Armored Transport fleet into...

AA turbolaser....

"Who was drunk when designing this! I mean, all they done was gut the passenger department, slap a turbolaser on it, and call it an AA variant! Turbolasers aren't AA for a reason, the only ways that could actually be feasibly used is if the area it is attacking is as high or higher than the ATAT, or of a full-fledged spaceship enters atmo in range, in which it'll just get smited by starship-grade weapons after maybe 1 shot!"

Found the real one, its an Ion Cannon, still dumb, but not AS stupid as a Turbolaser on the damned thing, least you can do some janky things to ships or large craft which use high grade shields and batter them down that way lol. before a battery or real arty kills it, or a Starship just slags the thing for daring to attack it XD.

Yeah, the actual AT-AA is a concusion missile spewing monster that murders anything stupid enough to fly nearby, with nearby being a citcle several dozens of klicks wide.

Moff Tarkin Negaverse Quest: Protector of the Galaxy
Moff Tarkin Negaverse Quest: Protector of the Galaxy
Well. When you all voted to do away with canon I didn't expect things to derail THIS quickly.
"It seems every sentient in the Galaxy is reading it after your public mockery of it." She replied. "Governor Tarkin tried to have you relieved from command."
WHAT THE HELL DICE!!!
JUST 1 TURN in, and somehow someone tore the tarkin doctrine a new one?!?!?!?!
It hadn't even been implemented yet!
So...
What the hell were the butterflies that created this???
Also, any idea who it was Tarkin Couldn't relieve of command? Considering the fact that is the only clear hint in this peek?
I know the tarkin doctrine was a dumpster fire. But taking potshots at the first Moff's pet project is pretty much suicidal with the sheer political weight behind it.
hmm. Of all possible candidates, the most likely are probably among the moffs, and of them...
The only one that could possibly make sense is the OC, and noted Relic of the Republic. And yet, it's so far out of it's MO from what we are aware it doesn't make sense. Cant help but feel a nat 100 or a few were involved.

Try a few. I decided to roll a few dice for potential OCs and the dice decided he was gonna be Moff modifiers be BLIPPED. In fact, one of the mysteries Tarkin is facing is how he managed to dodge 'retirement' via promotion.
....So the dice threw a principled man crazy high in the Empire, and now, he YOLOd into our power base, and survived?

Is he gonna be the latest rival blessed by the dice?
Considering how this is a MASSIVE PR disaster for the Empire, why hasn't he been dissappeared?
Mongoose said:
Well...
He done everything by the book. Only it leaked, and 5 separate groups that were enemies of Constantine, rushing to use the info to attack Constantine bungled their attempts and caused the exact opposite effect.
So, Mongoose dice strikes again!
And we will soon face our eternal quest rival once again, assuming the dice doesn't just get us rolled over again.
At least the avenue of attack should mean Constantine would have made MANY enemies, right?
Since he basically loaded up a battleship cannon of buckshot to blast everything in our camp. Hitting individuals such as commander Veers.
... What is palps doing? Considering the serious amount of damage this may do.
Mongoose said:

Putting out the many sparks being flung around, such as the Imperial Senate that smels opportunity to steal back some of their lost power.
And avoid being splashed by the metaphorical metric ton of buckshot fired your way.
So, is Andor more than 10 years early in the cards?
Got an Omake
You were looking at the Assassin with cold, dare you to say, dead eyes. He knew he was caught, and he knew that you were going to do this personally. And had taken all the chances away from him from dying at his own hands to prevent the information he knew, to get to your ears.

The Assassin was a male humanoid, young, athletic, and unassuming, with brown hair and brown eyes. Utterly forgettable in the ranks of the imperial military regime, among the Army troopers, and the Stormtroopers.

But they always give themselves away. He just was too much of a stickler for the rules. Even for stormtroopers. He just had to remind you of a single regulation that no sane stormtrooper would have followed when not on a planet like Coruscant.

A picture of your wife being carried in your breast pocket. He told you that it was forbidden to carry on duty.

He didn't expect you to set your blaster to stun and arrest him.

As if he had revealed himself in such a manner to be caught.

Everyone on the ship, everyone under your command even, knew you loved your wife, more than anyone in the galaxy… Save

You sat down and smiled, the meat on your table, along with the Blue Milk and the assorted vitamin and nutrient bars. "You know, when I got this job, I expected assassins from other Moffs who wanted the Corellian system all to themselves as their own private fiefdoms, rivals, even rebel groups who are striking imperial targets, who want to strike a blow to the Imperial Military… Yet here I am, sitting with you, looking at codes for an ISB assassin." You tscked. "Yet, I have already figured it out."

The paleness of the assassin was clear. "But your answer won't be able to help me… but it may lessen your punishment. Following orders is one thing. Assassination and failure are quite another."

You took a bite of the tender and well-prepared meat. "Want some?"

"You fool. He'll just kill me anyway. So be done with it!" He pleaded.

You rolled your eyes. "Begging for death is never the smart thing to do to a man who has all the answers." You then took another bite. "All it does is prove him right."

"Governor Tarkin must have wanted me to avoid speaking to the Senate Committee because he knows when it comes to the Imperial Senate, they are perhaps the only ones with any power left. Even with its diminished role in Galactic Politics, and even within Government, the Senate is highly likely to know precisely why such a strong and public challenge against one of the most senior commanders is being laid. Especially one of the highly decorated officers of the Clone Wars, making such remarks."

"Normally the Emperor would just make that man disappear and be done with it, but considering my skill set, the way in which I gain my position, and the political levers that are now being pulled due to my machinations, that would be impossible." You then paused, eating a little more.

As you swallowed and you allowed yourself to give an audible gulp, you could only sigh in contentment, as you continued. "So Tarkin cannot rely on imperial protection to save his doctrine or his reputation… So in order to save his reputation, as well as keep the Imperial Navy from being utterly embarrassed, he orders an assassination of the Moff who issues the challenge to his plans."

The meal was finished. "So he contacts members of ISB, and imperial intelligence, men whom he has connections with, and asks for their best man. Only one could deliver, as Imperial intelligence would never kill one of their own, especially when he has friends there as well to warn him, so ISB had to do."

You leaned forward and smiled. "Should I kill you? Or should I parade you through to show you how utterly corrupt The ISB is as well? Tearing your entire organization down with it, as it is restructured, and the Rot is burned away."

The Assassin only stared. "You are insane."

"Madness. Insanity? Everything is so complex with those words. I prefer the one thing that all should remember." You leaned forward and leaned in close to his ear. "I believe in justice."
Well. Based on what little we know. I decided to Run with the hints and the assumption of him being being responsible. And well, it kinda fits. A Old Repubic fossil fed up with everything, and decidedly a bit insane and suicidal, taking action to cling on to the ideals and people he cares about. Which, also would make him a very interesting foil.
Mongoose said:
Couldn't have done it better myself, Canon.
And before people panic about the omake possibly dooming us, Constantine's personality and traits were already generated. And yes, the name was chosen in part because the Dice decided you needed to have the perfect enemy.
Almost a foil, crazy in a different fashion. And, most critically, in a way that Tarkin is blind to. Tarkin is powered by fear, while Constantine is powered by WILL. Bad idea or not, he will stand for what he believes in and blip the consequences.
Mongoose said:
Good news, Tarkin has been awakened to some factors he has grown blind to, and will not underestimate Constantine again.

Bad news, you are gonna be locked in a war of politics against him. The exact nature will depend on palp's fire control priorities.
...Anyone noted how this canon omake had the assasin caught over pointing out regulations a moff was disregarding?
Pretty sure that would have been mostly suicidal outside of special circumstances in most cases, thanks to the Imperial culture putting little stock questioning of superiors PERIOD.
For all we know, said infiltrator only got so close PRECISELY because of how stupid he was in relation to Imperial culture. Since he likely wasn't the only assassin sent after him, at least due to people jilted by his becoming moff of Corellia.

A/N: Well, figured it might be a good idea to do some omakes less on the tech side of things. And well, Tarkin's wild ride, being locked in an insanely early power struggle of office politics caused by a very possibly suicidal clone wars veteran. Whom, thinking about it, may somewhat be a foil to Tarkin.
Edit: Also, the 'omake within an omake', is a snippet from the Doctrine wars story post.

Well we have over 160 in omakes…

Don't need them.

And we are not getting involved in Jedi hockey pokey business, we are a Moff dammit…

Admittedly one trying to destroy the empire because it is evil.
Welp, Guess we arent the empire then. Cant have the empire without a Force weilding person trying to corral it. Instead you just try and corral the dice. :p

Oh and one more thing:

D100 => 100

To anyone who claims it's rigged, you should see the other rolls.

Now leave me be to write the update

Wow not a single dissenting vote…

What are we the empire?

We just had a three-way decision between our Navy and Army choices. That choice was done by one vote.

The only reason we have a complete majority is because #%*@ing Tarkin gave us this disaster of a fleet that needs to be completely cleaned up.

*Moved Tarkin to #2 on my Top Five Kill List for the Empire*

Sorry Vader, you have been demoted.
