Star Wars An Officer and a Traitor (NO SV, you are an Imperial Officer and Traitor)

the fear is still there.
The Mandalorian Civil War happened because Jaster Mareel was smart enough to examine their history and notice a pattern of self-destruction which made the Mando Codex try to deal with the Systemic Problem. You know get some accountability.

Now the New Mando's would have come around to accepting it, but the problem is well...shit happened with the Clans as they became divided via ideology.

Then Death Watch reformed itself into existence and decided that being Marauding Pirate Warlords in an era of Peace and Plenty is FUN and EPIC!

And that's why a multi-decade war started in Mandalorian Space that tore apart the Sector.

Lets explain things the moment Jaster Died...to today.

Jaster Dies and Jango takes the title of Mand'alor over...things start to calm down for a bit, Tor Vizla tricks the Jedi into killing the True mando's (Sith Plot?).

Jango kills Tor, retires to become a bounty hunter, and builds a clone army, True Mandalorians collapse without his leadership into small cells.

Death Watch Rebuilds as Satine tries to rebuild for a few years.

Death Watch and Seperatist's make a deal. once again the Mandos are sith puppets.

The Deal Fails and Death Watch is damaged.

They find DARTH MAUL! And try to cut a deal with him.

Its working out...and then Pre is killed in battle, Maul is Manda'lor and Bo Katan Starts a Civil War.

The war rages and Bo brings in the Republic.

They win...oh, occupation and Bo is stripped of power and influence and power is given to former deathwatch commandos.

Current Day: Mandalorians are recruited as soldiers for the Empire, their homeland is under occupation, the Clans are divided and have learned nothing from the last several thousand years, and they're still patsies for the Sith.

Honestly, in the last 50 to 60 years you can say they learned nothing, they are patsies to the Sith, and haven't dealt with their systemic self-destruction issues.

Result....

Constantine Ripping into them is not only a realistic response but the only one that makes sense given what he's seen of them in his lifetime.

I'm pretty sure this is a typo of some sort.

I swear its like the Mando's want to get themselves all killed.
From a certain perspective, they do. Their entire culture and ideology revolves around finding the most dangerous thing they possibly can and picking a fight with it, and most of the time they consider the Jedi to be the most dangerous thing, which leads to working with/for the Sith so they can fight the Jedi and get paid to do it.

And I hate to be that guy but: "Look at what they've become, from Warriors capable of bringing the Galaxy to their knees to THIS."
Once, long ago, they were a peer of the Republic, with massive fleets of Beskar-clad warships, an army so well equipped and trained that even the Jedi are forced to respect their might. And yet, now.

They have been greatly reduced. Their reputation of warriors may still exist, but their great beskar-clad fleets are gone, with the scraps left being carefully horded for personal armor, with hardly a scrap being afforded to even the lightest of spacecraft. Their massive fleets reduced to graveyards scattered throughout the galaxy, their tech lost in the flames of war. Their homeworld broken, their people bickering over what's left, and even their current warriors but a pale imitation of the ones that could fight Jedi to a standstill.

and even their current warriors but a pale imitation of the ones that could fight Jedi to a standstill.
Yep.

Honestly being trained by a Jedi in their combat arts probably raised Sabine from a somewhat skilled Mandalorian to a Warrior that I actually think could fight a Jedi to a Stand Still.

Problem is, most Mandos don't have such humility to admit that training with a Jedi is good for them, and the Jedi don't have enough numbers to justify the training and philosophical discussions needed to get to that point.

I mean Kota probably could try, but he's just one man and is currently underground.

Kota is currently somehow connected to Bail Organa. Other than that, there's no way of knowing where he is or how we'd reach him.

Not to mention the quest themes of being not about bloody Force-Users for once.

Honestly even Satine would likely fall short. Because while she was trained by Jedi, they would fall short of the Sith wars and the Army of Light, let alone the clone wars vet jedi.

The Mandos greatly suffered from their many losses and lost knowledge, and training is one of them.

The part that is missing here is what got Maul kicked out of the seat.

It is our daily reminder that Good Emperor Palpatine is in fact a fucking Self-Propelled Rocket Laser Sword Holster capable of going from standing to chopping the head off from 3 of the most skilled Jedi alive in about 4 seconds. He was taking said fight very seriously, because that fight was still losable for him due to Mace.

His fight with Maul and Savage? While it was to clean up a lose end...he was also using it as an excuse to have some fun. Not once during said fight did Maul and his brother pose a serious threat to him.

There is one question I have. Where the hell did all of the Beskar from all of those destroyed mando fleets and armies end up?

There was enough to fuel multiple mando crusades, and yet…

Now it basically hardly exists outside mandalore, with anything beskar being a big deal and basically only used for personal armor outside very few cases…

What happened to all that beskar salvage? Thrown into various suns?

It is actually helpful to keep in mind that technically, the original mandos are actually dead. The Tuang are as a species nearly entirely extinct with only a few enclaves left in the unknown regions due to making the mistake if being Sith Patsies.

By this point, the Mandos have become more of an idea, than a place, a people, or any of that.

I mean, it is unlikely any of the Mando's scattered throughout the galaxy would be pleased with the events going on in the Holy land.

To be fair, the Taung were already almost extinct before the Sith ever got ahold of them. The Mandalorian Wars was just the point of no return, with Mandalore the Ultimate being the last Taung Mandalore.

And if you want to be technical, the Sith species were also patsies of the Sith Order (the Dark Jedi Exiles at the time) that ended up decimated and only survive in a handful of colonies (Tund being the major one).

I still think this is a subtle snub on the Mandalorians' part. They find the most dangerous things in the galaxy and pick a fight with it. Most of the time, that's the Jedi.

I can't help but notice that they very very rarely fight against the Sith.

There are really only two instances I know of where that happened and one of them was because they were paid to do it.

1) Canderous helping out Revan against Malak and again with the Exile
2) An army of Mandalorians was hired by Jedi Master Murrtaggh to help fight the Dark Underlord during the New Sith Wars

The part that is missing here is what got Maul kicked out of the seat.
Was watching the Duel and forgot to put that in, but rest assured I know Papa Palps did Maul in that time.
he was also using it as an excuse to have some fun. Not once during said fight did Maul and his brother pose a serious threat to him.
And by the Force was it the Best Duel in Star wars, between darksiders.
1) Canderous helping out Revan against Malak and again with the Exile
Looking at it, Canderous was likely the Smartest Mand'alor for a long time when it came to choosing friends and allies.

I mean, its a pretty iffy bar going over all the mistakes the Mandalorians made but still.

…How many planets have strategic reserves of salvaged beskar somewhere gathering dust due to only mando armorers knowing how to work with the materials, slowly becoming forgotten due to them being virtually useless to anyone but mandalorians due to lacking relevant knowledge.

Locked up in Sith Monuments To Self if Freedon Nadd's tomb and Darth Rivan's pyramid and the captain's chair on the flagship of a Sith Fleet are any indication.

The long fall of the Mandalorians.
The long fall of the Mandalorians.

The Mandalorians are one of the most fearsome groups in the galaxy, only rivaled by the Jedi and Sith. And yet, for all of that, the Mandalorians in truth had been growing weaker, throwing themselves at the Jedi and themselves in equal measure, until little was left and even then the fighting continued on. So in spite of the Mandalorian Reputation, they are but a mere shadow of what they were used to be.

One of the central aspects where this could be seen is the use of Beskar. In many of the early conflicts, they used that miracle material for pretty much everything, ranging from starships, vehicles, and starships. But as time went on, more and more Beskar was lost in every battle, as they broke themselves again and again, until so much was lost, their ability to field beskar-clad starships started becoming reduced. But that didn't stop the crusades and internal wars, which continued even as beskar starships had to be phased out due to simply not having enough to field. And as a result, soon they were only able to field beskar armor, and they still didn't stop, eventually leading to most armors being alloyed and using beskar focused at the critical parts to better protect the user. And yet, even now, it still continues, with one of the great mysteries being where al of that starship-grade material disappeared to. Honestly, the leading theory is that many planets throughout the galaxy has scavenged significant quantities of the material which they stashed somewhere cause they couldn't use it, hidden to deny it from the only group that knew how to work it until it was forgotten.

The Mandalorians were also known for their tech and equipment, such as the infamous Basilisk war droid. Which when combined with their insane atom splitters, various weapons and ships, proved to be a force to be reckoned with even for the Jedi.. And yet, much like with Beskar, the tech and knowhow was lost or destroyed, and even now, there simply aren't much of a researcher tradition left after everything to try and rediscover what was lost. Made only worse by the cultural focus only amplifying in certain circles.

And then there is the training. Which is very much hit and miss. Starting indeed with the full glory, the elites that could fight and have a chance at winning against war vet jedi, something which could be maintained at first. Most notably in the aftermath of the Neo-crusader era, where a significant number of the Mandalorian survivors weren't even initiated in the ways of the Mandalorians, let alone trained in the arts of combat. Which honestly was the closest to the end of Mandalorian as a culture, until Mandalore the Preserver helped bring them back from the brink. But of course, the core problems had never been resolved, and the only reason the current situation isn't that dire for the whole culture is because the Mandalore Sector is not the only bastion of mandalore culture, even if by far the most important. The training also faced degradation because the sheer loss in the many conflicts led to lost knowledge, techniques and ideas not passed down, changing situations, and even a societal counter-push against the campaigns of violence sparked by a long Civil war between the various factions.

A/N: Here is a little thing of possibly a report on the mandalorians. And well, power level wise the Sith was brought down out of necissity, the Jedi by complacency and belief that threats from within would be their greatest threat. And the Mandos? They bashed their head against the biggest powers on the block until it happened as a natural consequence losing hard so many times.

The Gathering of the Clans
The Gathering of the Clans:

You looked at the several hundred members of the Mandalorian clans, all gathered together, in this dark damp mine. It used to be a Death Watch base, back when Satine still ruled, and when Mandalorians could still consider themselves free from the Influence of the Republic, or the Empire.

You were making a statement here, choosing this place, at this time. Even on the moon, close to Mandalore itself, was a statement. They had no control over the planet that was entirely their holy site. The Holiest place of all Mandalorians, under the control of the Empire.

Fen Rau was the only one who was seemingly uneasy at your appearance here, despite his coolness, hidden behind his mask. And he was the only one who was trying to speak to you before this meeting began.

"Has the Emperor decided that we Mandalorians outlived our usefulness" His question was biting and personal. "Or is this something more hopeful?"

You frowned, he clearly did not understand who you were. "I have always tried my best to have the Emperor's Confidence, and have always prided myself on making the decisions that were necessary for continued Peace and Prosperity. And protection of the people. Regardless of how it may seem."

Fen Rau was taken aback by the answer and was stunned by your confidence in it. "Even with my people? It's history?"

"What people fail to realize in the truth of the Galaxy, about me… is that no one really seems to understand cultures like this. How much you are driven by notions that any modern society would scoff at, or even claim is backward, or barbaric." You frowned at the man, and he removed his helmet, staring you in the eyes as you glared at him. "But the truth is, your culture, your people lack purpose."

"Purpose? My people are warriors." Rau seemed angered."We have a purpose!"

"Yet in the thousand years of peace, your people's holiest planet was destroyed by yourselves. Hundreds of worlds and millions, nay billions of Mandalorians are dead. You fought against each other in civil wars and ideological clashes that are in some cases, more destructive for your people than any war of conquest your people have partaken in the past when you served the sith." You stepped away from the Protector, as his entourage appeared, walking towards the meeting place. "Your people focus on something that is impossible."

You then turned around. "Your people, perhaps, in my humble opinion, lack Balance. You always have."

"Now is the time to realize, what you are. Warriors? Or slaves?"

Fen Rau, the leader of the Mandalorian Protectors... was left speechless.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bo Katan was unimpressed by many of the speakers, as you walked next to her, and her Night Owls, trying your best to speak without causing an interruption. "This is pointless."

"Three hundred clans gathered together for a meeting, in peace, without a Mandalore?" You questioned as you walked next to her. "Quite an achievement I'd say."

"It is only because you, the outsiders are keeping the peace." She shot back, her gaze as strong and hard as the Beskar she wore. "We quibble over these ministries when we should be seeking to crown another Mandalore."

You raise an eyebrow and felt a need to speak, even if it was out of turn. "Without the Previous Mandalores Armor? Without the Dark Saber?"

Her eyes widened and dilated at the mention of both items. "There is always time to gather the items we need to crown one."

"Especially when the one who is the strongest is you? I heard a rumor that fifty clans are willing to crown you just to prevent their enemies from uniting against them, even at the risk of Gar Saxon excommunicating them, and barring them from Mandalore." You stated.

"Gar Saxon is a pretender, who sits on my throne because your Empire allows him to and because he is useful to them. Nothing more."

Your smirk was almost a smile at that. "Ahh, the truth comes out… You just want to take what is rightfully yours."

She frowned at that. "And what if it is? We Mandalorians have-"

"Always been slaves to the sith. To the Jedi, to your honor. To always wishing for war!" You replied. "Ask yourself this then? If you aren't… would you have been victorious against Revan and the Jedi on that fateful day at Malachor V? Or would there only be the end of the Mandalorians… to easily slain, by Jedi, by the Republic, by the Sith."

"By the Empire." Your words were ringing, and the Night Owls reached for their blasters.

"No." She whispered. And you walked away.

Everything you said was true. in your mind... and hers.
---------------------------

Countess Ursa Wren was sitting alone, away from her husband and her fellow clan members, looking at the stars. "May I join you?" You asked as you walked over to her.

She motioned, and you sat down next to her, looking up into the night sky. "What do you want?" She asked.

"I saw young Cadet Wren at the academy. Excellent marks, though I did not have the chance to meet her personally." You said. "You should be proud of her."

"I want to be, yet settling on her life serving the Empire, and not her clan… it fills my heart with great worry. Worry that she made a mistake, and she might not realize it yet." She stated. "I keep on wishing that, if she does wish to leave, she will come home."

"That depends on what she wants." You replied. "If she believes her home is worth coming back to."

"I filled her head with so many stories about the Galaxy, and about our people. It makes me think that she will decide for herself what she wishes to do. And it will be great?" She paused. "You are not here to talk about my young daughter, are you?"

"I'm not." You replied with a frown. "I will be speaking to your people, and I will tell them the truth. They may not accept that, and I can only hope that someone will."

She frowned. "I have an inkling of a feeling that I know exactly what you are going to say to them." She paused. "They want to crown a new Mandalore, without the relics that make one. And even if we forgo them, they just want war. Freedom… misguided as they see it. A chance to be what we always are."

"You're people will fight a war, rather than accept that they need to change." You replied. "They need to find the right reasons to fight. And the right reasons to not."

"If you believe you can change the nature of my people with a speech, your as naive as the Jedi. They could only make us listen with a lightsaber."

"I'm not asking your people to change your ways. Merely your outlook." You stated.
-----------------------------------

Thrawn stood by you. "You are going to get us killed."

"Wouldn't be the first time." You quipped as you finally said the words that would shut everyone up.

You looked out at the Clans and only narrowed your eyes, furrowed your brow, and say. "Your people have learned nothing in the last three thousand years then."

That got their attention. And made them ready for their weapons.

Good.

"Now that I have your attention. I need you to listen."

What do you say?:

AN: Enjoy.

Now you may ask why there is a write in.

Simple, you are now in a position to start something glorious!

Constantine is honestly kinda terrifying, he's very competent at his job as a Moff in the military, intrigue and especially stewardship aspects but that isn't what sets him apart is his inhuman charisma and understanding of people. During all of the conversations he's had this chapter he's completely dominated them, Constantine is a competent idealistic Social Expert and he's terrifyingly good at it.
