Star Wars An Officer and a Traitor (NO SV, you are an Imperial Officer and Traitor)

Oh, look! A Star wars quest where we are not a bloody Force user!
Something I am very proud of.
While I don't have much to add to the omake deluge, I would hope that our assault on Tarkin doctrine would lead to earlier creation and more widespread usage of the 2 of my favorite ships : Raider corvette and Vindicator heavy cruiser. It does make my third favorite, Bellator dreadnaught rather unlikely to show up but oh well.
Well we are on corellia.

Lets go.

Much as I like the Force and all the Space magic BS we can do with it to flip the board....

this is nice too

Since No one got the MArshals, no bonuses for you, but I will tell you who they are based off of, or how I'm basing them on.

The MArshals are:
Commodore Pell Baylo
Lefverbe. Even though he is a canon character, we know so little about him save for a brief summery of his career and exploits until his death...

That I chose to make him a very big badass.
"Prince" Captain Ricardo Dubreas
Murat
Bernadotte
Captain Gilad Pellaeon
Pellaeon isn't a marshal, though the closest I would place him to is MacDonald
Major General Jerrek Skysailor
Saint-Cyr

Doctrine Wars
Doctrine Wars:

You were looking at the Assassin with cold, dare you to say, dead eyes. He knew he was caught, and he knew that you were going to do this personally. And had taken all the chances away from him from dying at his own hands to prevent the information he knew, to get to your ears.

The Assassin was a male humanoid, young, athletic, and unassuming, with brown hair and brown eyes. Utterly forgettable in the ranks of the imperial military regime, among the Army troopers, and the Stormtroopers.

But they always give themselves away. He just was too much of a stickler for the rules. Even for stormtroopers. He just had to remind you of a single regulation that no sane stormtrooper would have followed when not on a planet like Coruscant.

A picture of your wife being carried in your breast pocket. He told you that it was forbidden to carry on duty.

He didn't expect you to set your blaster to stun and arrest him.

As if he had revealed himself in such a manner to be caught.

Everyone on the ship, everyone under your command even, knew you loved your wife, more than anyone in the galaxy… Save

You sat down and smiled, the meat on your table, along with the Blue Milk and the assorted vitamin and nutrient bars. "You know, when I got this job, I expected assassins from other Moffs who wanted the Corellian system all to themselves as their own private fiefdoms, rivals, even rebel groups who are striking imperial targets, who want to strike a blow to the Imperial Military… Yet here I am, sitting with you, looking at codes for an ISB assassin." You tscked. "Yet, I have already figured it out."

The paleness of the assassin was clear. "But your answer won't be able to help me… but it may lessen your punishment. Following orders is one thing. Assassination and failure are quite another."

You took a bite of the tender and well-prepared meat. "Want some?"

"You fool. He'll just kill me anyway. So be done with it!" He pleaded.

You rolled your eyes. "Begging for death is never the smart thing to do to a man who has all the answers." You then took another bite. "All it does is prove him right."

"Governor Tarkin must have wanted me to avoid speaking to the Senate Committee because he knows when it comes to the Imperial Senate, they are perhaps the only ones with any power left. Even with its diminished role in Galactic Politics, and even within Government, the Senate is highly likely to know precisely why such a strong and public challenge against one of the most senior commanders is being laid. Especially one of the highly decorated officers of the Clone Wars, making such remarks."

"Normally the Emperor would just make that man disappear and be done with it, but considering my skill set, the way in which I gain my position, and the political levers that are now being pulled due to my machinations, that would be impossible." You then paused, eating a little more.

As you swallowed and you allowed yourself to give an audible gulp, you could only sigh in contentment, as you continued. "So Tarkin cannot rely on imperial protection to save his doctrine or his reputation… So in order to save his reputation, as well as keep the Imperial Navy from being utterly embarrassed, he orders an assassination of the Moff who issues the challenge to his plans."

The meal was finished. "So he contacts members of ISB, and imperial intelligence, men whom he has connections with, and asks for their best man. Only one could deliver, as Imperial intelligence would never kill one of their own, especially when he has friends there as well to warn him, so ISB had to do."

You leaned forward and smiled. "Should I kill you? Or should I parade you through to show you how utterly corrupt The ISB is as well? Tearing your entire organization down with it, as it is restructured, and the Rot is burned away."

The Assassin only stared. "You are insane."

"Madness. Insanity? Everything is so complex with those words. I prefer the one thing that all should remember." You leaned forward and leaned in close to his ear. "I believe in justice."

You stood up and walked over to the door, and it opened. You then turned to the troopers. Army troopers who clearly enjoyed being part of your command, especially with the lack of suicide missions. "Allow our prisoner to take a walk."

The men saluted and they proceeded to do as they were told.

What was it with amateurs these days with assassins?

Who were these assassins trained from? The Academy?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coruscant was always the same, but you were happy to see the senate building, especially with allies greeting you.

"Senator Mon Mothma?" You raised an eyebrow. "I was told your focus was on Senatorial politics, and of course, other matters related to the Senate. And you showed a great disdain for Imperial Military politics?" You said as you gave a small bow of your head.

"Unfortunately, there are things even I cannot control, and even through my many years in the Senate, there are things that I cannot ignore." She said, "I have come of my own volition to wish you luck. Perhaps this is the first time a member of the military seems to agree that the objective of peace is to not support further violence on our citizens and subjects, and the massive increase in military spending will do nothing but cause a further drain on the economy."

"So you have read it?" You asked. It was hardly likely, there was barely anyone outside the Admiralty that saw that doctrine. Mostly because of how boring it was to an outside reader.

"It seems every sentient in the Galaxy is reading it after your public mockery of it." She replied. "Governor Tarkin tried to have you relieved from command."

"Proper channels were used to show my disapproval." You replied. "How it leaked to the Press is not through any fault of my own, I can assure you of that."

That was so bloody brilliant, using Max as the go-between… five separate hands touched that one, and those five hands would never lead back to you because all five were from hostile senatorial camps that had a grudge against you. Those same men who would love to see you destroyed.

It backfired so brilliantly because you knew their staff was so stupid, they would not edit the thing properly.

It made you look like the reasonable one, while Tarkin… less so.

"Well in either case." You saw her suspicious gaze as she stopped her train of thought. "The entire senate will be here for this committee. A rare thing these days." She seemed hopeful. A senator with hope in her voice. It had been too long since you heard someone talk like that.

"I appreciate you coming to meet me, Senator." You smiled as you looked at the transport.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you reached the Senate building, you saw Tarkin waiting for you. And despite his obvious displeasure… you did not detect any hostility. In fact, he seemed delighted to see you. "Moff Constantine." He said as you saluted him. "I must say that despite all that may be said coming soon, I hold your criticisms in the highest regard."

He was really failing at being graceful. You saw the raw, no, unbridled anger that was bubbling just below the surface of his discipline and control.

"As to you, Governor." You said as you both began to walk towards the building. "I found the man you sent to me wanting."

"Oh?" He understood immediately what you meant. "But how so?"

"He didn't know me well. And dare I say, neither do you." At those words, the Governor clenched his fists, his anger bubbling. "For if you had, you might have been able to dissuade me from this position. And understand your own flaws in the doctrine itself."

"Such as?" he asked. He knew what you were going to say, and you were going to say it many times over.

What do you say to Tarkin?:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was an unbridled success. The Senate met, the talks were held, and the Senate was satisfied.

And nothing could say success like the Emperor himself having to play politics to prevent a Scandal from rocking his most senior officer, one he hand-picked for the job.

Tarkin's Doctrine, his brainchild, would be scrapped, and another team of counter-insurgency veterans, as well as veterans of the Clone wars, were tasked to create a new doctrine for standard imperial Navy and army forces. Men that both you and Tarkin, much as he cringed, agreed on.

And it had an unintended side effect.

What was it?:

[]The Officers Corps Split: There was now a variable wedge in the Officers Corps, between the Constantinests, as they were called, and the Tarkinists, the men who supported the Tarkin Doctrine. Something that has created friction between many officers and their subordinates (Sets Loyalty of all officers in the Imperial military, not Emperor Loyalists, or Die, Hards, to 0. Meaning they are much easier to sway towards rebellion, sedition, and republicanism.)

[]The Imperial Senate is Empowered: Thanks to much of the scandal and public outrage from the Citizens of the Empire, the Imperial Senate has gained power that it lost when the Republic was reorganized into the Empire. A Very good thing indeed. (The Senate has more power, and it will lead to the Rebel Alliance being weaker millitarily at the start… but far more united ideologically, as well as starting with far more capital, both fiscal and political. As well as make several Rebel groups like Saw Guerra go underground, willing to listen to orders from Rebel's high command.)

[]The Emperor Humiliated: It is well known that the Emperor was highly critical in Moff Tarkin's Rise to political power. And it has now seen the prestige of the empire damaged. Greatly. (Imperial Loyalists, as in those that do not wish to restore the republic, are far more likely to form factions against the emperor, to coup him, and throw out the Sith that rule the Empire. To turn it into a military junta.)

[]Political Prominence: You have risen to the occasion and you have been rewarded greatly for your efforts. (All rolls will gain an additional +20 permanently. Will be able to create the Empire's New Doctrine next turn and in the following turns. All Imperial Trust Actions, if you choose the Imperial option, will now give triple the bonus. Taking rebel options now gives no suspicion points.)

[x]Plan numbers game
-[x]write in: The fleet is top heavy and what good is one massive expensive ship when 3 smaller ships can do the same job for half the price for half the price.

Well than (looks at omakes) we already have quite few sources to cite from

[X] Plan Emperor incumbent
-[X] "Tarkin, you seem to have grasped nothing from the Clone wars or your own families brushes with warfare in the past. After all if you had you would realize that a fleet of gunboats with no supporting elements can be outmaneuvered or destroyed easily by unorthodox tactics, smaller highly maneuverable small craft formations or simply avoided and their supply lines and supporting infrastructure defeated in detail. Never has history shown a ship of the line to be a fleet in its own right and with the glut of small craft and highly automated escort, patrol craft and full on warships laying about due to the war the worry should not be about line engagements but making sure that pirates, the remaining separatist and rebel wolf packs are hunted down, something unwieldy battleships can not due alone."

Also one thing I would like to day, we will probably havr the option to tacle Academies next turn. I belive we can get similar effects the Officers Corps Split if we do well enough

My friend...

I have created several options to deal with the future Rebel Recruitment centers that are the Imperial Academies.

But first, we need to get the personal actions out of the way.

[X]Plan: Splitting the Military.
-[X]Your enemy fearing you is all well and good but it is no replacement for proper fleet structure and military designs. No matter how fearsome a military, someone statistically will engage it in battle. And these people will inspire others because a terrifying military stops being terrifying when it starts being beaten.

[X] Plan: Tarkin Can't Count
-[X] "Your bland failure to understand Asymmetric warfare, partisan actions, and simple logistics. I've spent my entire time here reviewing your doctrine Tarkin, and you seem to think of any insurrectionary force as inspired by present weaknesses in the imperial navy while also fearful of those same aspects you wish to expand upon. Do you really think that building more Imperial's will cow potential rebels into subservience? That they wont fight back with whatever second hand equipment they can get their hands on to disrupt supply lines, production centers, and recruitment efforts? The mere existence of a Naval strike group isn't enough to break a rebellion Tarkin, you need the crew to run it too."
-[X]The Officers Corps Split: There was now a variable wedge in the Officers Corps, between the Constantinests, as they were called, and the Tarkinists, the men who supported the Tarkin Doctrine. Something that has created friction between many officers and their subordinates (Sets Loyalty of all officers in the Imperial military, not Emperor Loyalists, or Die, Hards, to 0. My reasoning here is simple, there simply aren't enough sailors to run every ISD that tarkin wants. Period. Every single Imperial I class Star Destroyer had a crew compliment of 37,000, around a fourth of which were officers, by comparison the Profundity, a Mon Calamari Cruiser, had a crew compliment of 3,335. This disparity is simply untenable for the Imperial Navy, and by taking the Officer Corp option we can ensure there are a large number of flag officers who know this and are now amenable to more republican sentiment's politically.

Grabbing a large Officer Corp for the rebellion is a good thing and seems like the best option, senate power is a bit of a trade off as it means a united front for the rebels but less soldiers when things kick off, Emperors humiliations also seems good as it might jump into an early civil war, but I'm wary about Political prominence as mechanically It might mean we are getting better rolls and less suspicion overall but we are directly in the emperors spotlight and I'm not certain we want the entire Imperial navy to follow our doctrine, we are planning to rebel Afterall, and letting the navy follow Tarkins fuck ups anyway might be a better idea.

TLDR, Tarkin doesn't read supply reports and letting him fuck up the broader Imperial navy might be a good thing.
