On the flip side, no slavery equals expensive free labour.
Avawyr is a pretty bad choice for future capital because of limited accessibility. Its sole merits are being defensible and it'd have immense difficulty remaining in control over our fringe holdings because the routes to Avawyr are pretty awkward.
Evalon has great riverine connectivity. Bedywn is...well its geographically closer to our center, though not especially accessible, its not inaccessible either. Mountain capitals are for very small states, or states under threat of external military assault.
Once Avawyr grows beyond a village and into a town/city, it will grow to include Ava Cove, giving the settlement access to Lake Eva.
