I know, right! Star Platinum's time stop was such bs! People can try all they want to reason it, but Star Platinum's powers were defined from the moment it appeared. It was the fastest, strongest, most durable, most precise stand around. That was its power. It showed no signs of developing over the course of the series. And then suddenly, in the fight with Dio, Jotaro can move while time is stopped. And then he can move more. And in the course of one fight, Star Platinum goes through more development than Dio's stand, The World, did in four years.

It would be one thing if there had been actual foreshadowing over this. But there wasn't. 99% of part three, Star Platinum's powers are set in stone, and in that last 1% of it, suddenly they're developing.

And, of course, there's the sheer number of times Jotaro is saved by a combination of absurd luck and pure bs in that fight. Yes, there was one point where Dio was saved by luck. There were at least six times where Jotaro should have been dead. Starting with the very first time he moved in time stop.

Most of part 3 was okay. But the author made Dio too powerful, and wrote himself into a corner because of it.
The foreshadowing is VERY subtle, but it's there. Remember Jotaro's hat? There's an open palm on it, making a stop gesture. Take a look at Jotaro's poker battle with Daniel D'Arby, where did he get that cigarette and drink from? Also notice Daniel's reaction to finding Jotaro can just somehow make objects appear from nowhere? What, or rather, whom, would that bring to Daniel's mind upon seeing that?

*smacks forehead* Right, derp. For some reason I keep forgetting one of his arms is fake in Stardust Crusaders even though it comes up more than once. Still though, my point stands: they seem far too dismissive of humans as a whole considering they live in a universe that has the Joestars.
Never underestimate monsters being arrogant little shits.

Joestars and humans on that level are one in several million, at absolute best. The odds of the average Youkai running into a human on that level are vanishingly small.

Bout damn time. Maybe we can stop obsessing over the shittiest power in Jojo and get to the really fun stuff then.

Speedwagon's hat better than Ripple, which is shit.

Just to remind you all on where I stand. I stand ATOP TRUTHINESS MOUNTAIN IN OPINION COUNTRY.

Why not just abuse both? What the ripple lacks for in weird Stand-iness it makes up for in versatility. :V

The ripple is not that bad. At all. If jotaro can master it and get good enough with it he won't be limited by five second time stops and will have a way to hurt monsters beyond having his stand punch the crap out of them. The ripple does conflict with youkai energy to the point where it harms the monster. Or did you happen to miss the ripple energies hurting the medusa? Also it let's us hit on their level.

Ripple is fantastic because it's an overall boost to EVERYTHING.
It makes us Jotaro +1.
Combine that with our Stand and we'll be pretty damn awesome.

Wondering if it would even make sense for us to channel our Overdrive through Star Platinum. Joseph did it with his Stand, but Hermit Purple is always touching him so it makes more sense. We did see that Star Platinum can inhale during its fight with Enya Geil so it isn't completely out of the question.

The Ripple isn't a shitty power, it's actually a pretty good power.

I mean, just utilizing the Ripple gives you super strength, speed, durability, regeneration, minor telekinesis, decelerated aging, mind control, body control, dealing aggravated damage to the undead (and seemingly monsters in general), and enhancing the strength of multiple other forms of energy.

The Ripple is a boring power, but it's hardly bad.

Another thing. You may have achieved timestop for .00001 second, but Jotaro doesn't know that. It was a purely subconscious action. And you are still have a long way to go before Star Platinum has manifested fully enough to do anything with it.

I actually think the ripple is more impress then stands since with stands you tend to get one special ability only and it never enhances your body to my knowledge. With the ripple we can beat the shit out of monsters.

At the very least we'll be able to cheat Dio's 'I'm just as dangerous as my stand, if not more so' advantage. Looking back I think Dio himself was tougher than The World, given that I think most of the damage he took was from The World getting smacked, he seemed to be much better at taking hits, Polnareff's surprise flying head shot and the subsequent smack to the head being the exception of course.

But anyway, one thing I want to try is fighting in tandem with Star Platinum, force our enemies to choose between taking an ORA to the face or getting an Overdrive to the gut.

Yeah. We should go out of our way to not lose the a rank durability that Star platinum has. And use the ripple to allow us to go past five seconds of time stop.

Imagine Dio's face when he figures out we've got Ripple.
AND a Stand.

That is a very significant advantage, actually...
We would effectively have 4 fists to punch someone with, when Star Platinum fully comes about, now that we've got Ripple (and thus superhuman strength).
We could be in two different places to attack as well.

I quite like the Ripple. Because, even if you think it's a shit power, you can get so much use out of it. Infuse enough ripple into a thrown pole like a javelin or even a tree branch? BAM! You're now hurling lightning spears, Dark Souls style. A handful of hair and some quick Ripple application? An instant, bulletproof energy barrier! Hanggliders made of leaves! Walking on water! There's so much you can DO with something like the Ripple if you take the time to perfect it.

Not just air, but even walking on air as we saw during the fight with DIO in his castle during Part 1.
