Wait, is Kuyo actually learning from this? And not in the "how to exploit my enemies" way, but actually having a chance of becoming a better person?! Will miracles never cease!

Also: We beat an enemy Stand User without using Splat, and have even managed to get him to show signs of redeeming himself. Is Eva still keeping track of that sorta thing?

Girlfriend > school.

D-did we just dodge a bullet?

Holy shit I think we did. If we had used Star Platinum then odds are good he would have used his stand as well and judging by the way he talks about it odds are good he has better control than we do. So he can probably use it and his powers at the same time, unlike us with hamon. That would have been very very bad for us.

[In The Flesh] is a close-range combat-type Stand with the ability to seal away a target's consciousness behind a cognitive brick wall, an effect which is outwardly depicted by the target's body becoming covered in masonry lines evocative of such.

Rather than an immediate effect, The Wall is put into place a few bricks at a time with each successive physical attack that makes contact against the target -- although what constitutes a "physical attack" is open to the user's interpretation, potentially including use of projectiles, pre-established traps, or other tools/weapons. However, this effect's accumulation can only be applied to one target at a time.

Once Kuyo considers The Wall to be "complete" at his discretion, the target is locked in a comatose state until they're able to break free or escape, which means they must either break down or climb over The Wall in their mind without the aid of any supernatural powers. This becomes increasingly difficult depending on how many bricks are in The Wall.

While the target's mind is locked out of controlling their own body, said body instead can be used by Kuyo as an extension of his own with simplistic programming.

However, the psychic connection this effect creates means that Kuyo experiences a percentage of his target's thoughts, feelings, and memories until The Wall is "complete", up to and including phantom pain of any damage he may happen to inflict on them in the course of battle. For this reason, Kuyo despises using his Stand except in the most dire of circumstances.

SPEED: E

Huh, simultaneously a manifestation of his belief that people have walls built between them, but in the act of doing so, he has to experience that persons own thoughts.

No wonder he's disliked using it - the very act of doing so forces him to contradict his own beliefs, understanding another persons point of view and breaking down barriers even as he puts them up.

That is an interesting Stand indeed. However, I do believe that Star Platinum would be capable of winning against it, even if it would likely lost most of the time without stopping time. If Jotaro had 5 seconds of stopped time instead of the instant he currently has, I believe that he would win most of the time, because he can hit hard enough in the right places to incapacitate or even kill Kuyo before the wall is complete.

Anyway, love to see more on how things play out from here on out. One of my favorite what-if battles is Jotaro vs Raika from Fairy Tale, so here's hoping that will happen.

Not quite yet. Heel realization's clear enough but what direction Kuyo takes it is still in the air.

"Can't wash all that off, may as well keep it up" and "Wow, I should probably try turning this boat around and cleaning things/myself up" are both still valid possibilities.

My guess? Takes control of Gin. Even if the Stand has Speed: E, the user can still be faster.
Indeed, it seems that Kuyo hitting you still counts. But Gin's Stand lets him count as being under a full moon whenever he wishes, and when under a full moon, he's an S-ranker focused entirely on going really fucking fast. And the earlier Kuyo tries to trigger his power, the easier it is to break out, so I'm a little confused why Gin thought Stands were useless against Kuyo in general.

Maybe Kuyo can stack his walls (as in, start building a new wall on someone who's already controlled by it)? Or maybe he can build it faster by using already-controlled enemies to attack as well?

Could even be a combination of both of these, leading to him strengthening his control over enemies by forcing them to punch themselves.

Or maybe he just considers his fire a physical attack; we don't know yet.

Update 179 - Aftermath, part 1
The Headmaster's been patient and sympathetic, but also cagey and uncooperative to the point that it's become clear he's only going to share information if it's convenient for him.

Honestly, a considerable part of you wants to beat his face in -- if just because he refuses to account for his negligence in allowing everything that's happened up to this point...

...but.

"Whatever, old bastard. Keep your damn secrets."

Moka squeaks at your suddenly speaking up, before Kurumu and Yukari offer a matching grin. "You tell 'im, senpai!"

You... already told him, though? Were they expecting you to keep going?

...no, you're not making a whole thing out of this. You turn and vent some frustration by forcing the Headmaster's door with a bit more attitude than strictly necessary, and only stop yourself from slamming it shut behind you when you catch sight of your Newspaper Club friends hurrying along in your wake.

"So how's Mizore?" Tsukune worriedly asks, practically having to jog so he can keep up with your longer strides. His earlier transformation into a Vampire... it's changed him. Your underclassman's cheeks and eyes are sharper, less boyish than they were before. Not only that, but even though he's still shorter than you... you swear he must have become a full inch taller in the last hour. Almost like he just went through a year or two of growth. "She looked... rough..."

"Mizore's..."

Hurt. Vulnerable. Probably in a lot of pain right now. So much more fragile-seeming than you previously believed, like she might disappear if you so much as touch her in anything but exactly the right way--

"--not going anywhere," you promise yourself. If only because you're going to give her the mother of all reamings if she even thinks about trying to do anything other than stay in bed and recover.

You head to the school infirmary, and hesitate for a moment when you catch a glimpse of your girlfriend covered almost head-to-toe in bandages nearly soaked through with burn ointment. You can only even see a third of her face...

It's a miracle she isn't dead.

You blink, and then find yourself back in a godforsaken frozen hallway littered with chewed-up child skeletons. A familiar pair of sickeningly-green eyes stare at you from out of the darkness, before a form bursts into existence around them in raging blue flames--

A sharp elbow digs into your side with absolutely no mercy or remorse, and you look down to see Kurumu staring up at you. "Well?!" she hisses. "Don't just stand around gawking like a dumbass -- go in there and make sure she knows you still care!"

...so what you just experienced was a flashback. Or a hallucination. Whatever. It wasn't real, and you're back in Youkai Academy with your friends giving you looks with varying mixes of concern and judgment.

Because you normally have the emotional expression of exactly two thimbles, and there's only so much they've learned so far about how to read you.

You could defend yourself, try to explain that you weren't so much staring at Mizore as you were... lost...

...but instead you brush them all off, using the full extent of your remaining patience to keep from snarling. "Get off my case."

You can apologize and talk shit out later if that's what it takes, but someone else is a lot more important to you right now.

[]Approach her seriously and with concern.
[]Approach her with a joke to try and take her mind off the day's events.
