[] Supreme Adaptability: Rather then focus upon one specialty this Chapter believes in superior discipline and training. Each Battle Brother should be capable of acting within any role upon the battlefield as required.
[] Auxiliary Forces: Whether it be Chapter Serfs, Imperial Guard or something more esoteric this chapter has a reliable stable of worthy allies to accompany them onto any battlefield.

This chapter and their allies are going to go up against two very nasty enemies and they not only need to be prepared to face them but also have great synergies with their auxiliaries forces as well.

On the other hand, given our reputation and deeds, having peopole around to keep the marines sane and healthy is a musthave. Do you want another Iron Warriors or Death Guard?
I feel it's a difference between Internal and External. Sure, Chaplians can maintain morale, but the truth of the matter is that the Fleet needs supplies. Supplies they can only get through diplomacy. A diplomatic cadre is that external focus, so Chaplains are less necessary to the function of the Fleet.

Okay I have looked and while the Cybernetica may be reduced it seems it is far from being as much reduced as I figured. In their hayday there were several thousands of cohorts serving alongside the Astartes legions (as subservient forces, mostly in logistics) after the Heresy I estimate them to be a little under a tenth of their previous numbers and strength. I am having to estimate here as I can't seem to find solid numbers after the Heresy. Adding to this the loss of so much tech and even the declaring of the Cybernetica Cortex (the then main control system of the Cybernetica Automata) as tech-heresy means that they are quite diminished but far from gone. It even seems that the Legio Cybernetica has managed to recover from the political fallout of the Heresy (which is suffice it to say quite impressive).

As a rule of thumb I'm never going to do hard numbers, but they're somehow even worse off then in cannon post-Heresy. The majority of their Loyalist got killed in the initial scramble (which may or may not have been intentional on the part of their supposed allies). Those that remain are essentially kept as particularly vicious attack dogs by the Fabricator General. I'd say they're in the realm of one to three percent survival rates instead of ten, with even less potential to rebuild.

The majority of the remainder are kept on Mars. Officially because only Mars kept the capacity to manufacture the most advanced battle automata but it also keeps them crippled as a powerblock going forward. Your mileage may vary how much of that is politics and how much is genuine concern about the Cybernetica getting out of hand once more.

I need to actually name the Fabricator General because they're literally behind 80% of the AU elements in this quest.

Remember, we can only take the Greater Flagship ONCE.

As QM I would like to note that using it here would be very cool in this scenario :p

For what it's worth I wouldn't worry too much. I'll be sure to put in other unique options in the future, and I want you guys to use them if you think they're cool/fun rather then worrying about them being optimal. If you only use normal options that's fine too. The goal is for everything to be useful and your choices reflect what you'd like to emphasize within the quest.

EDIT: To be clear, whatever you take will be effective. For instance, if you give scouts to a non-stealth chapter then they'll still be good scouts. It's just that they'll use those scouts to be better at what they want to do. Figuring out how and why you guys are effective is a lot of the fun for me.

This fleet is pretty mich gonna get members from dead worlds though and its main mission is to get rid of nurgles and tyranids not much diplo there.

[] Plan: Ashborn Astartes
-[] (Name) Ashborn Flames
-[] (Symbol) A white flame amidst a dark grey background
-[] (Colors) White and dark grey
-[] (Creed) We Rise from the Ashes to Purge the Vile
-[] Advanced Apothecarion: Apothecaries oversee the implantation and harvesting of their Chapter's gene seed from the fallen. If granted additional recourses then they would be able to expand into research or adaption rather then merely attending to the Chapter's upkeep.
-[] Additional Thunderhawks: More Thunderhawk troop transports will be granted to this chapter. Those fielded will also be given superior arms and armor so that they can better act as air support and skirmishing assets.

My problem with apothecarion is that it really doesnt have any Synergy with our existing traits. Plus trying to outpoison Nurglelites and tyranids to me just doesnt seem viable. These guyts are the masters of poison, I can understand fighting fire with fire but not when we dont really have other bonuses for it other than apothecaries.
Poison is canonically a pretty good weapon against Tyranids. The only issue is that you need to come up with a new poison every couple of campaigns because the Nids keep adapting.

I feel like Diplomatic Cadre might give more mileage. It lets them build relations with vital Ports of Harbor despite their stated mission of slaying Worlds. And on a lesser note, Salamanders have a higher than average friendliness and empathy with common people. Diplomatic Cadre may allow them to work around their huge size, and bind those lost souls who have no home into the Fleet.
True that could be quite invaluable.

I admit, i want to throw the Glorianna in for a fleet based chapter. These guys could use it, and its there to be used, not left moldering in a shipyard.

Throw it in and let fun begin!

[] Plan: Tron Bikes
-[] Solar Griffins
-[] Symbol: A Violet Griffin Above an Orange Flame
-[] Colors: Primarily Orange, Secondarily Violet and Bronze
-[] Chapter Creed: We Cast Back the Vile
-[] Battle Cry: Desolate, Incinerate, and Eradicate!
-[] Advanced Apothecarion: Apothecaries oversee the implantation and harvesting of their Chapter's gene seed from the fallen. If granted additional recourses then they would be able to expand into research or adaption rather then merely attending to the Chapter's upkeep.
-[] Additional Bikes: This chapter has a large contingent of Combat Bikes. Ideal for Hit and Run strikes, it will be very difficult to pin down such a force.

So, have you considered Tron Bikes? Partitioning zones that you fill with poisons and flames, sectioning off locations for localized eradication. Also adding a bit of pep and haste to the step of some Salamanders seems useful. As well as riding in to collect fallen and injured on bikes seems thematically cool to me.

Unfortunately I don't have a large proclivity for names or design, could anyone perhaps make a plan that includes the Flagship? I think giving it to this Chapter would be the best, not only because it would go all in on the fact they're fleet based, but also due to the sheer threat the Tyranids pose in 40k I struggle to imagine better enemies to save it for.

This Chapter will face very high attrition. Maybe a combination of Advanced Apothecarion and Test-Slaves should be considered

[] Plan Big Snake
-[] Chapter Name: World Serpents
-[] Chapter Symbol: An Ouroboran Serpent encircling a world
-[] Chapter Colors: Light Teal & Grey
-[] Chapter Creed//Battle Cry: "This Far and No Further."
-[] Advanced Apothecarion: Apothecaries oversee the implantation and harvesting of their Chapter's gene seed from the fallen. If granted additional resources then they would be able to expand into research or adaption rather then merely attending to the Chapter's upkeep.
-[] Auxiliary Forces: Whether it be Chapter Serfs, Imperial Guard or something more esoteric this chapter has a reliable stable of worthy allies to accompany them onto any battlefield.

Okay here is my reasoning for this chapter.

Going with the whole Jormungandr/World Serpent aesthetic because it fits well with their chapter origin as Salamanders and speaks to their purpose. That being fighting basically apocalyptic battles with Tyranids over worlds. Ragnarok is Tuesday for them. Was saving the name for a Space Wolf successor but this fits too well.

As for the options, in my opinion this chapter already has the requisite fighting ability to deal with Tyranids & Nurgle. They're super tanky because of Giants Amongst Giants and Pyre Hearts. They're also already not prone to rash action that could get them with failed objectives and unnecessary losses with Anvil and Hammer doctrine. Losses will matter when it comes to fighting outnumbered. And they will fight outnumbered.

Personally I feel like their killing potential is pretty good already through the double bonus of their Salamander origin and being Space Marines. They also already get an adaptability bonus already through Eclectic. This could be further improved through taking Supreme Adaptability, making their already stellar combat prowess even better. However, I feel that just boosting combat prowess isn't the best advantage Canto can give them.

Instead I chose to pick Advanced Apothecarion in order to free up their Apothecaries to pursue Tyranid and Nurgle countermeasures. We'll be dealing with countless mutating Tyranid bioforms and warp-borne diseases, causing havoc on the ground and screwing with the probably already beleagured defenses of any world they're on. Having an on-demand research arm to counteract these threats is an opportunity that's too good to pass up. This also just helps reduce battlefield attrition, which is good for any chapter. Even moreso when dealing with foes tanky and numerous like the Tyranids and Nurgle.

Now because we're a Crusade Fleet, and we're dealing with the Tyranids at least half of the time, we're going to be picking up a lot of strays, especially if we also encounter our fair share of late-stage Nurgle infested worlds. Rather than dump them on the next planet, why don't we use what refugees we can and turn them into a fighting force to help support the chapter?

It does two things for us, it simplifies the Crusade Fleet's logistics by not having to pick up supporting Imperial Guard forces on the way. It also means that the very tanky, but very valuable and very large Space Marines are freed up to do Space Marine work. Space Marines are amazing force multipliers but they really work best when there is a force to multiply. In this mission for example, the only allied forces they really have on the ground are a single company of Burning Hands. Auxiliary forces will help us hold down objectives and defend civilians while the chapter goes off to do the more impactful missions. It's not a sexy option or anything but having more pieces on the board when the Tyranids and Nurgle can field so many will always be a big help. By virtue of being on a Crusade Fleet and led by a Space Marine chapter, I think we can be pretty sure that these mortal forces will be as elite as we can get and a great asset. Why build a chapter when you can build an army?

Edit: Apothecarion should also help deal with the worst effects of the Pyre-Hearts mutation to their Sus-An membrane. Super adrenaline on demand with no (maybe some) side effects. Auxiliary Forces should also help them act quicker because of their Anvil and Hammer Doctrine. If they don't have to worry about Astartes losses dealing with side objectives as much, they can deploy chapter assets much more freely.

-[] Expanded Devastator Companies: This Chapter has greater then usual access to heavy weapons and utilizes a larger number of Devastator squads.

Reposting the plan that Theia made because I think that when dealing with Nurgle and Tiranid forces the last thing you want is auxilary forces who are going to feed the enemy, what you want are Devastators so that rather than kill we outright erase the enemies.

We have a lot of boons for melee combat and I think we should double down on that. The Breacher-Siege Squad and Terminators will combine well into a strong base disruption and securing ground to deploy the purging equipment. Any spots important enough to deploy sub-Exterminatus devices will be guarded by enemy elite and additional Terminators should be able to counter them.
