Well that and getting the attention of the 4 voices. I dont think getting trigo what ever his name by accident (again) without Red Huntress in the fold would be good for us. That or getting a one on one meeting with the Leviathan.

While I intellectually understand that Novalight was an example of the Peter Principle (competence at job duties results in a person being promoted until they are no longer competent at their new duties)...

And that her apparent misanthropy is likely a coping mechanism for a probable inferiority complex or imposter syndrome...

I think its telling that Novalight was such a Pointy-Haired Boss that we have yet to meet a single person who both knew her and misses her (as opposed to missing having someone with her powerset around).

Is this intentional? I don't remember The Apiary ever being identified by gender before (and admittedly, I'd kind of assumed they would be female like OG Apiary).
It is not. Thank you! I rewrote that open section like three times and there's still errors.

Everyone she loved died. Then, because who she became, it turned into "everyone who loved her died".

It won't make sense for a very long time, but I consider Novalight a victim of the highest order.

Oh Damn, Maladaptive responses to trauma and lacking support structures and constant high stress situations and probably actual factual knowledge that shit really is that bad and It's your job to handle it cause if you don't its' gonna get worse then it is even if you're keenly aware of how bad it already is and how you may be failing (even if you don't necessarily acknowledge your own culpability in these outcomes)

No one could possibly have seen this coming.

Oh no, it's much worse. It's all that and much worse.

Stairway to Heaven is just the first piece of it and that's all I'll say about it.

Part of the reason I can sit down and write 8k in one sitting during my few hours of free time a day is that there's stuff I want to get to so badly.

Great Chapter, cool see how JU got it's start, Rosemary really was the heart of the team huh (and apparently a good deal of the reason Nugen and by extension JU even existed).

Also loved that totally-not Scarlet Maturity was one of her Vtuber followers.

Excellent work as always, Bitterman! Rosemary is a total delight and she was obviously the beating heart of the old Justice Unlimited. No wonder her death at the hands of Scarlet Maturity scarred the rest of her team.

Holy crap. Most authors around this site are content with maybe 1k words a week or 3-4k twice a month, and here's Bitterman kicking open the door, marching in, and slapping a novella's worth of solid excellence down on the table like a damn boss. As a fan of long chapters, I doff my cap in admiration. The character depth and interpersonal relationships here are marvelous writing.

@Bitterman

some more suggested edits.

The story comes tumbling out. Rosemary's situation. Your culpability. Your self-loathing. At some point Yazy has pulled you to the bed and has put her your head in your her lap. She threads her fingers through your hair in the way you like while she listens.

"So, well just say 'Fuck it" here and go try again someone somewhere else? And that will turn out different, huh?!"

It's more a curse I put on myself. I want to tell all this story and not grind the thread to a halt for six months? I gotta wriiiiiiite. 😭
I know I haven't been commenting on this story for a bit, but looking at this comment I had to pull this reaction image up.

Also, great update! Bitter, you've officially both given real weight to the NuGen era (which was kind of just the "noodle incident" of the story, for serious lack of better words on my part) and also pretty much guaranteed it in my head that Rosemary's death is probably going to hurt me deeply. (compliment)

Do you think the giant serpent that turns into fish is gonna be Yara's weapon of choice when her powers are turned offensively?
I guess it would depend.
Are the Giant Fish and fishes meant for offense?
The snake sure, but I can see the fishes being either a more aoe/multi target deal or they can be used for recon porpouses.
Or idk fishes enter your sea of dreams to gather info.

Psychic powers man, they could do anything.

I'm definitely interested in seeing how it actually works considering she doesn't have Construct Creation, and her combination of powers somehow producing ACC seems... doubtful. Maybe they're like, alt- forms or something, she does have Transformation as a keyword.

I may have been off on that Joules guess of Construct Creation. After all, I gave Frostbite the ability to make a sword and armor of ice and Bitterman didn't give him Construct Creation.

Which, now, it's possible that Ete was just given ACC instead of it being an upgrade of a Construct Creation she had.
