Also, did anyone else notice that odds of societal collapse and the odds of JU successfully attacking Elysium with Yara are inversely proportional?

My gut answer is "yes, anyone would", but I'm learning to ignore that and actually point things out. :p
I didn't. Good eye. Though, if we believe them to be related, this would imply that after successfully attacking Elysium, societal collapse is impossible? So whatever's happening on Elysium will be the cause of societal collapse?

I want to add Leizi to the Yara-team purely to see Mona scramble to try to lead in her absence.

Ellie: "Mona. When was the last time you slept?"

Mona: "Uhh. I think I had a 5 minute nap 3 days ago! It's okay, my power means I don't need to-"

Ellie: "Mona. Go the fuck to sleep. Now."

Later

Mona: "Waaaah!! Ellie hates me! She probably thinks I'm a screw-up who can't be trusted to be in charge of anything. She was staring at me and being all like, 'let me take over before you mess things up even further'. Waaaah!!"

Madeline: "Oh my god would the two of you just make out already."

Mona: "...Don't you mean, 'make up'?"

Madeline: "...I meant what I said."

"Not at the moment. A different target has arisen. Trismegistus is wounded. Key is dead. The Hand of the Mysteries has never been more vulnerable. We will be taking efforts to eradicate them once and for all. You, however, are not to concern yourself with this."
So we have a 4-way conspiracy cold war.
Which just went hot because we managed to unbalance it.

And we are still considered a lesser priority despite them knowing we will assault them. :ninja:

If there is a twist about the other possible PCs, it will not be "they're alive and you just need to save them and everything will be fine". If that was the case, the story would have been about rescuing your former team.

The prisoner floats forward. A long scar lies across her silver face, and she's missing her left arm. Blank, silver eyes bore into Silvio.

"I will be the judge of that."

* * *
That night, black holes tear the Brig apart and destroy everything in Valiant Red, White, and Blue's lab.
So I thought Bitterman may have lied to us readers, but on second thoughts RS likely got injected with Hand-juice way back when she was in the Hand, and is probably a goner.

Also Crusade is fucking gone, for the most part. Their public credibility has tanked, especially with the prisoners they'd captured being released.

Okay doing a roundup.

As much as I was the main person against the Phasewalker Seraph build over a different Seraph build, I'm reversing my stance here purely because Phasewalking seems like one of the best avenues for potentially escaping the Frozen Throne and everyone staying safe during it.

Baba Yaga has gotten stuck in the Frozen Throne due to either the experiments with the prison or from YQ actively doing her best to feed it. Maybe some combo of the lot. Where Katie is trying to be more, Yara is helpful, and we need to pick 2 people. Hit 9, Esp 11, Rep 7, and Op 10 are the current stats for Yara and Katie, while we know the priority order is Esp > Ops > Hit. Pick 2 of LL/C/H/MW I'd imagine? The big issues are that MW helps with Third Person and Leizi might be necessary to keep around in case of a Towarri interrupt. I'd say Chatelet being around for trying to get Simon to shift would be likely but frankly, I'd be surprised if he'd get much chance to interact there this turn as is. It does feel like Handyman + 1 who can help with Ops is probably the simplest way to go?

The 10/10 buff to VG is probably going to be very needed here just for the future and specifically for helping out on this turn.

Also a major part of why Justicar was sacrificed was specifically that moment wasn't it? I don't have to give it to her, given she still worked for them after that, but I imagine that was the point that Justicar became deemed a useful tool that could also be a major liability.

Towarri is currently being accidentally manipulated by Punished Silvio and is crippled but is alive even if likely mentally drained by the psychic siphon. This is fairly major since it gives us a chance to get her back on side, but frankly we likely would need to convince her that we thought she was dead. Still, Crusade is functionally dead in the water and the splinter cell will be annoying but frankly a whole lot more workable than dealing with the entire group at once. Especially since they're focusing away from us for now so we should get a bit of breathing room.

Wrt Automne, we know that in the world where we picked Radiant Silvergirl she was in a coma. Its possible that its just a coma here and we can biokinesis away the brain death if the rest of the body is alive, but frankly I don't think the QM would have given us her sample if there was a world where she was healable.

Intangibility being revealed is very nice given it hard confirms that Red Huntress is arguably our best sample in a lot of ways. I am still going to push for it on Homer because of the fact that frankly, Red Huntress is a sample we want to use for hiding power, which seems best suited for our highest end who needs the cover the most. And this is minorly petty but I just don't want to repeat core powersets for awhile if we don't have to since I think its less interesting and creative.

"Shut up, shut up, shut up!" 7 shouts, hitting him further, "We know it's likely Rotwang's experiment from Wonderland! 67%! But you haven't confirmed it."
There is the implication that Princess was the experiment given the Rotwang naming earlier in the thread and can also empower people ala SM but that's still technically guesswork right now.

Yara is biting a knuckle, eyes shining. "This too, is yuri . . ."
Yara...

Truly the queen of the Blackgold shippers.
"Davie, we're a family. And family sticks together. I think of this whole fucking borough as our family. Do I gotta teach them a lesson when they start actin' up? Sure, sure I do. But that's part of being a unit," he shakes his head, paternally, "But this tiny freak and Court of loons? They're threatenin' our family. They're laughing at me. And I gotta know that you got my back when it's time to protect our family."
So this told us a few things. PLP 100% has his claws in this guy, the description of laughing behind the back isn't subtle. PLP has Ash Knight under his control who gets stronger when around flame, presumably a large part of why PLP is looking in this direction I'd imagine.

Lethal Anodyne's eyes are wide. It's an unsettling look with his pupils. "I mean, that's a special lady. The kind you cook special for. Oh man, if I could just meet with Lady Leizi . . ."

Okay, okay, Homer did it. Lethal Anodyne's distracted with his boner for the leader of Justice Unlimited again. No one is going to die—
Huh maybe we can actually use Lady Leizi on the infiltration for LA after all.
"The numbers do not lie. The odds of Justice Unlimited attacking Elysium in the next six months is almost 100%! It should be suicide! Yet, the odds of them doing so successfully keep going up! It's at 23%! If they get their hands on Yara Oliveira, it goes up to 31%!"
Its nice for Bitterman to give us our odds on successfully completing the Moon River Retrieval Arc. :V

Also yeah I think we can reasonably guess Valkyrie's daughters are Moon River (Eve) and Lantern (Lilith).

Could someone point me to the place where we got the hints who Valkyrie's children are / that Eve and Lantern are her daughters?

I mean, that could just be his name.

But also relevantly, it's the name of a character from Metropolis (1927), the mad scientist who made the first robot in a science fiction film, period.

goddamn, i thought it was supposed to be a vulgarly-named imprisoned algernon-type i couldn't remember xD.

You sleep. You don't don't know for how long or where you rest, but you know you're safe.

You won.

As you slumber, the gears of the world keep turning.
I did not enjoy how this update ended. Everything up to the end of the courtroom scene was excellent. But immediately after, we get hit with a series of 'bad things getting worse' scenes. There's zero time to savor the victory before we get previews of even worse things to come. More evil, more villains, more conspiracies, more danger. There's no space given for the reader to experience the lowering of tension from the resolution of the current conflict. Instead, tensions are raised even higher. It's a nonstop escalation of narrative tension that robs any satisfaction of the victory in order to turn the dial up even more. Going from the climax of one story arc to instantly escalating towards the next climax. It's engaging, but it's also exhausting. I don't want to read a story that keeps on doing this.

So who are all the curent Heroes in Horizon Currently?

All Current KNOWN Villains in Horizon are?

These are going to require so much work.

------------------------------------------------Don't want to double post edit--------------------------------------------------------

Stockpile!Quest has responed to the craziness by going even crazier. They have dumped Griffith in favour of Guts and pullled Towarri out of the emergency pocket.

Bitterman has previously noted that there were three outcomes, leading to three different versions of Reality Check. We got the "interesting" option. Likewise, we got the "interesting" outcome of "where they ended up".

So, I think I have an idea of what happened:

One of the hours seems to have the ability to rewrite reality. Presumably at some kind of heavy cost. This was used to unmake? Valiant Blue.

But I suspect that it's more than that. I think in that timeline the ladder was successfully destroy. So they pruned it and have pieces of it they can use as needed; but this is not free.

Still, now we have an idea what we are up against on the Hours front. Someone that autosucceeds any roll, no matter how seemingly impossible. Someone that can unwrite people.

...I think we will need to destroy the ladder, when all is said and done.

Since, we want to use Opale to calm down Towarri, are we going to have to explain Transexuals to Towarri?

Châtelet: Lady leizi totally would have come for if she had known, trust me on this.
Towarri: How can I trust you, I don't even know who you are?
Châtelet: Don't you remember Hiver/Harrier?
Towarri: I know you are lying, Hiver was a man, how are you really?
Châtelet: Oh Ete, Do you want to explain this to Towarri or shall I?

Okay actual reactions.
DC 15.

Stat Check: HIT 4. Red Iustitia, Blind Judge of Heaven has HIT 80.

You rolled: 9.

9 + 38 + 10 (Fīat iūstitia ruat cælum) = 57. Success! Super Dee-Duper Critical Success!
HAHAHAHAHA +38??? I laughed out loud seeing this. And the crit name. Sometimes mechanics can get very silly and it is so beautiful to see.
"C-captain? Captain, is that you? H-how?!" Valiant Justice calls, "I-I don't know what . . . I'm trying, but it's so hard . . . what have I been doing? Please. Tell me. What should I do? What am I?"

Why does he ask you questions to which he always knows the answer? You pronounce your judgement.

"Disappointing."
NooooooOOOOOOOoooooo!

JustGold has taken a mighty blow, especially as the Queen of BlackGold takes up her crown. But that only means us proud, us few, will have to fight on all the more valiantly!
the so-called 'Movement' that they sent their weapon to capture one of us. But the only person her Edict captured was a failed Star! And, in the process, she even allowed Bethemoths to overrun them!"
:( Nice to have this reveal, but yeah, what an awful end for Justice and GJ. Used pointlessly and wasted, to the end.
It nearly corrupted you, but never Black Swan. Never Mona. You would trust her with anything.
No matter the drama, no matter the stakes, you can always count on Bitterman to deliver one thing — peak yuri.
!!!! A name!

This wouldn't happen to be a Practical Guide to Evil homage, would it? One other web serial with a big bad named Trismegistus…
(Also, possibly means we have a chance to temporarily recruit Sunlight Knight for a heroic rescue)
YES YES LETS DO IT YES THIS WOULD BE AMAZING

But immediately after, we get hit with a series of 'bad things getting worse' scenes.
I dont know if these are bad things getting worse so much as, more info on what we already knew was going on. It's kind of like when you hit the season finale of a big TV show and in the aftercredits they show a little more of what's going on in the background. None of this seems like it's really worse than before per se. (I'd even argue that Radiant Silvergirl breaking out is probably a net positive, even if she's currently being lied to by Stockpile.)

If we chose LL to be sent to team Yara, then Mona needs to do an OPE training. She is the temp leader, and she need to lean how lead. No but's about it. Even if that was just raise by one, it would still help.
On Ellie are I not so sure what to do. Either we can had her train in ESP, or get of a motorbike.

I suppose my thing is like, I think we got out of this looking very well honestly?

Silvio has Towarri, Ete, and the unknown Guts expy who is supposedly not even a metahuman (??? on Brass Shield) being focused on us is annoying, but frankly this is more than workable. VG covers Silvio, BS covers Towarri, and we just get a meaningful opportunity to prove that we only weren't searching because we thought she was dead. Given they also have a hatred towards White Hawk baked in from their members, I am not meaningfully worried here. The shown memories are a fucking issue with Towarri but like, we have the Nora imprint from VG and the Woman in Blue, we have the information to counter the end from Silvio, especially if we take the right fill in issue.

White Hawk has Sunlight Knight, Joules, Plasticity, Perspective, and presumably our minion in Ronin (??? on Brass Shield) before anyone else being grabbed from Elysium. Unless they have another psychic attacker at the ready, they are much weaker into us now than they were, while being focused on Monarch. We will need to make sure they don't get Princess but this was always part of the play and deal. We also got confirmation that we're getting stronger, to the point we could successfully attack Elysium if we continue on our path which is massive.

The Lethal Anodyne and Demon Flamez situations were annoying but its nothing new to us, its just giving us more insight here on what was going on in a genuinely important way over getting worse. LA wouldn't hate Leizi being on the infiltration team due to having a weird crush on her, PLP has Ash Knight under his control and confirmation he has his claws in the Demon Flamez.

The only truly annoying thing is the Frozen Throne situation. Where I think the members being put away for a turn is annoying for certain, but Belle has joined us as a very good frontline combatant to help compensate for that temporary loss, and its letting us rescue Baba Yaga and frankly letting Katie be more. Where that latter one would be amazing if we can pull off that potential recruitment, especially with her changes and the former is important for actually being able to set up any sort of super prison, which is probably necessary.

We are objectively much better off than we were, along with a stronger path forward than before given Katie/Baba Yaga/Towarri's situations, as much as it opens short term annoyances.
