Billionaires being worried about societal collapse while also having solutions that involve becoming God Kings over the puny masses, which will almost inevitably lead to societal collapse...

Name a more iconic duo. No, don't even fucking try, you can't.

They're literally both billionaires.

Also, interesting information on what's going on with America. America has just outright rejected the idea of democracy to the extent that the POTUS has no term limits and wins with 90+% of the vote after having his opponent assassinated.

There's also basically no way, based on the description of "Christofascist" and it being America, that the "civics" clauses haven't basically disenfranchised non-whites to a large extent, maybe with some exceptions for sufficiently right-wing non-white voters who can then magically and surprisingly pass the tests and go on social media to say, "See, there's not actually disenfranchisement, I was able to vote just fine."

This.. confuses me.
Bitterman has made it clear time and time again that there are a lot of things staked against us, but literally everything that happened in this chapter isn't.. that bad? The Hand is being targeted by the Horae Guard. Ete and Stockpile have defected from Crusade. Crusade is being told to leave us the hell alone for now. We killed Key. At this point, I'm wondering if people are never gonna be satisfied unless Bitterman has us wipe out/ curbstomp every single conspiracy in one chapter

There is something to be said for getting a clean unambiguous big win with no notes, asterisks, indicators of a problem etc etc.

Like we unambiguously won overall, but also two people got sent to Ice Prison, someone we thought dead is alive but thinks we betrayed them, and learning more about what's going on elsewhere even if its not actually the situation deteriorating does change the context of things a bit.

It's not clean, and those are nice to have once in a spell

"E-excuse me? Umm, Valiant Gold?" a nervous voice calls from the gallery, "Uh, isn't she entitled to a lawyer if she can't afford one . . . or something?"

Much to the confusion of everyone, Yara Oliveira stands with her hand up. Even she looks unsure why she's doing this.

"Objection," Uiara says, addressing the Court and not the speaker, as is appropriate, "That is American law. It is not binding here."

@Bitterman, I surpised Mr. Term Limits only count for Democrats (i.e. President Thule) hasn't gotten rid of that yet.

At this point, I'm wondering if people are never gonna be satisfied unless Bitterman has us wipe out/ curbstomp every single conspiracy in one chapter
I wonder if the nature of the "input" (superhero and narrative-battleplan creation) has to do with this, as people feel that their inputs are not good enough to face the challenges. Whereas, if for example, our input was a more classic "choose to build a mine for +100 gold or instead a barracks for +100 manpower" style, people would more understand the scaling of threats and the limits of the protagonists' abilities.

Hmm, also, Katie's power.

She doesn't have to touch someone, so it does seem as if she gets the infinite bank of powers, but only one at a time, but fast enough for tactical speed. And the clones don't seem smarter but do seem a bit more able to flex... and I wouldn't be surprised if they're more capable of complex orders, though not of emotions, than they were before.

So she's essentially a Swiss Army Knife, complete with being able to do one thing not as good as the original at a time, but being able to switch between them.

…A blind idiot God? Hunh.
Seems to me Prometheus is actually ill named. It is not stealing fire from God, that was granted when He decended upon us.
No.
Prometheus, the Red Man? They are but means to put the Fires of God in their proper place.
But we cannot forget.
God is dying, and He was Struck down.
We may not be able to claim the Stage He gave us yet, and perhaps we should attempt to slow down in seizing such, lest we draw his victorious rival's attentions.
But.
We are not alone, and our best, brightest stars should be left in reserve.
We only have but so many.

Also I'm only on page 709 of 714 as of publishing this post. Still reading!

If Lady Leizi is selected for time-off (i.e. Stuck Temporarly in the Frozen Throne) then Opale is in charge not Mona.

After all, Opale is already 2nd in Command and has many years of experience in the field of battle.

nce, we want to use Opale to calm down Towarri, are we going to have to explain Transexuals to Towarri?
Uhhhh
Probably not ?
I'd find it extremely improbably for Towarri to not have any knowledge of what being trans is.
Acceptance of trans individuals seems a lot higher in Horizon than IRL, and Valiant Silver seemed to network a lot with other queer heroes considering the stuff Mendicant said about her.
RSG has definetly met Dreamcatcher and Mendicant too.
Radiant Silvergirl was an ace lesbian herself, and queer people tend to have a much better knowledge of the queer community than non-queer people.

[]Plan: Needs Must (9th edition)
-[] Puella Magi Justice Unlimited Magica (2 AP)
-[] Smoke on the Water (1 AP)
-[] Reality Check (1 AP)
-[] Train Kept a Rollin' (2 AP)
-[] Grand Theft Person (1 AP)
-[] Pest Control (1 AP)
-[] Making the Rounds (1 AP)

If we have 9AP, as Belle Sabruse has joined us, then we can fit in Making the Rounds (which boosts our Rep and gets us more money).

Welp lets see if we can make a hail mary play. If we do have 9 ap and choose both Income missions (Pest Control/ Making the Rounds) its possible to make a risky gambit and choose actions that cost Income to do, Even if we dont have the Income Available, Like we did previously.
Just hope we can do this...

If you don't mind answering, when did the "opponent" part of things come into play with the update, to try and distinguish between the effects of the two?
Red Iustitia's power involved judging the guilty. And SB was insanely guilty of SO much.
So I thought Bitterman may have lied to us readers, but on second thoughts RS likely got injected with Hand-juice way back when she was in the Hand, and is probably a goner.
There is no rescue mission. There is no "and everything is okay". If Lady Leizi is a model for handling massive loss and grief, RS is the other side of it.

Sometimes you can't go back to how things were.
Its possible that its just a coma here and we can biokinesis away the brain death if the rest of the body is alive
She was in the Jury. Her voice was on the Stage.
This wouldn't happen to be a Practical Guide to Evil homage, would it? One other web serial with a big bad named Trismegistus…
Never read it, but Trismegistus is an actually historical figure, important in, among other things, alchemy where much I draw a lot of the iconography for The Hand of the Mysteries.
I'd find it extremely improbably for Towarri to not have any knowledge of what being trans is
She not only knows but intentionally studied the second she learned gender was more nuanced than boy/girl, lest she make a social error.

And a few more thoughts on things I loved in particular:

1. It was brilliant to give us that vote on committing to Yara's powers/having it play out this way. It fits with the Stage being a place where linear causality goes to die, it resonates with the "Save yourself" motif, it's flat-out fun to have characters get power ups associated with/from climactic moments!

2. I meme about it a lot, but man those Ellie-Mona moments were beautiful. "A golden angel answers", the "loud, weird humming sound", "your Swan"... they're fun on their face, but also really appreciated as a black-gold strand that can be threaded through even moments of such intensity and drama. I'm excited that their story still has so far to go!

3. I love what you've done with Yara over the course of Eidolon! She started as "a character vaguely gestured at in a few paragraphs", and then we got the introduction and backstory in 3.7.1, the climactic moment of self-sacrifice in 3.7.3, and the empowerment both in-character and as a character in 3.7.4. It feels like a full and complete narrative arc in four chapters (admittedly spanning 60k words :V), in which she was one of a half-dozen important characters, where each beat landed and it never felt rushed. I like the ending for her especially -- with more to grow, but also the tools to do so, and having made a huge difference (and in the place to continue to do so) with Katie.

On mounting tension: you've had three arcs of unambiguous wins in this Issue. Every faction is leaving you alone for now to do other things—even Silvio has other plans right now.

The alternative was to not show you any other factions, but I felt you would want to know what's going on.

As for the FT, the "clean" victory would be to kill SB. But then there's no Katie, no wounding Hand, no questioning of what a hero does. If you want more, sometimes it involves new challengers.

Oh I can just see the trauma the eventual reunion is going to do.
Anyway... if a confrontation with Stockpile and RSG isnt going to be Immediate... that does open who gets Throned a bit more open...
So Handyman and either LL/MW/Chatelet.
What do you guys/gals/ Non binary pals think?
