And yeah, there shouldn't be any reason preventing Socialite Butterfly from cloning an Algernon, or even a dozen. It's just that given how her powers and how Algernon powers function, there's not really a point to her cloning one for their power, especially when she's working with these Hand of Mystery pricks.

In this Issue:

Black Swan got clobbered twice.
Châtelet learned she's moronsexual, and quite (un)fortunately for her, Sunlight Knight is a Grade-A Himbo.
Handyman pulled off some Looney Tunes BS.
Lady Leizi demonstrated she's a sore loser with invincible sunglasses.
White Hawk is really salty he got got by Handyman (to be fair, it's like Black Swan getting wrecked by Earthen Owl).
Yara successfully held herself hostage.
Socialite Butterfly (probably the second strongest metahuman alive) dethroned Lady Leizi as the Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss.
AND HERE COMES VALIANT GOLD WITH THE GATTAI: FUSION DANCE: SUPER ULTIMATE COMBINATION TRANSFORMATION SECRET FINAL FORM!!!!

She clutches her abdomen with both arms as she says that.

Oof. Valkyrie must have lost a baby to Novalight's final attack.

Thematically, there's something to be said for:

Justicar (representing the Law in all its cruel certitude and the forebear of one of the major factions (Crusaders) fighting in this battle royale), Heavenly Astrologan ("Mom", and with New Dawn, whose clones are being dragged into death fights) and Red Huntress (JU, obviously, plus the sister ties and so on)

We can just… kill Justiciar? With a half-dozen powers, if we want? Why the focus on Shutdown?
Because I also want to kill Socialite Butterfly, and one of the best ways I can think of doing that is turning off her powers so she can't make any more clones and run away. Plus being able to prevent any other active clones from interfering would be very useful, and that's not even getting into the potential of keeping White Hawk from continuing the fight after this shitfest is over and done with.

On a side note, I can see why Bitterman said we should probably consider some other candidates for a bit. Yara might be alive and in full physical health, but she's probably going to need some time to recover from temporarily dying. Also, we need more symbiotes.

You look at her and her name comes to your mind. Cordelia Reed, a.k.a. Valkyrie. You give her an unimpressed look before replying.
Also this was a pretty sweet scene, it's cool to get a glimpse of Valkyrie, and she straddles the crazy but not-crazy but actually-yes-crazy line quite well.

But lord, I will forever be sad we did not roll a one.

WHAT WOULD AN ENCOUNTER WITH THE LEVIATHAN HAVE LOOKED LIKE???

"EDICT: ALL THINKING CREATURES MUST LOVE SOCIALITE BUTTERFLY WITH ALL THEIR HEARTS. PUNISHMENT: A LOSS OF ALL MOTOR SKILLS."

No.

"EDICT: ALL THINKING CREATURES MUST RECOGNIZE THEY ARE LOWER THAN DIRT COMPARED TO SOCIALITE BUTTERFLY. PUNISHMENT: A LOSS OF ALL SENSORIUM."

No, no, no—

"EDICT: ALL THINKING CREATURES NOT NAMED YARA OLIVEIRA MUST KILL THEMSELVES. PUNISHMENT: CONSTANT STIMULATION OF THE PAIN CENTERS OF THEIR BRAINS."

So, am I the only one thinking that the third edict technically applies to Socialite Butterfly as well? It doesn't specify her as an opt out like it does for Yara. Unless SB has defenses like VG does, or the power up clone!SM gave to clone!Justicar lets her not apply edicts to allies, it would seem to me that the third edict would apply to SB.

....how long does Dynamite last and is this permanent?

hh. yeah what if we added that power copier we know died's power to Justiciar and Heavenly Astrologian.

We use Heavenly Astrologian's power of controlling Fundamental Force Manipulation combine it with JUsticiar's ability to puut down Edicts THen add the Power Copier. to allow the power to be inhernetly able to do anything .... I think his name was Copycat.

The power would be 3 shots of a power in the vicinity acting on the world to cause something to happen. Imagine ironically enough based on Socialite Butterfly commanding the World to twist itself to accomplish something Ellie wants. Like say she commands that Socialite Butterfly will die. For the duration of the power circumstance itself leading to Socialite Butterfly dying. Her power turns on her . Debris faslls from space to kill her. For the duration of the power all possible vectors that will lead to Socialite Butterfly's death will happen.

Also depending on how far away Memoria's warp was, the area that edict is in from a bird's eye POV must look like some seriously gerrymandered shit to avoid hitting civilians (because SB does value her privacy a hell of a lot).

Or it's just two separate tiny circles.

She probably has defenses from working with the Hand tbh.
