Ok. Alright. That fucks. Hell yeah. Must have been because of Bulwark.
You blink. Nora had never mentioned—oh ho!

"My," you say, "And who else but her chief research assistant could finish her work and make her idea reality? Unfortunately, I fear her design is so complicated that only someone who built it could ever effectively use it in combat."

"A shame," he agrees, shaking his head, "To most people, these gauntlets just seem to make noise and light up. I guess that research assistant will just have to take up a mantle as a Tech-type hero to honor her memory."
Intelligence 100! Heck yeah, that's one helluva cover.
It's a cold comfort the next day when everything goes wrong.
?!?? What happened?!

Oh I'm glad I checked in so late!

Wonderful update and a wonderful surprise too! The power is really interesting and the cover story is perfect!!! I mean hell you can write off the sensitivity to psychic waves as is real power, one that was not so useful so no one really mentioned it-

Perfect perfect perfect! Everything lines up for us once again!

Though even though we have WOG that nothing Mechanically bad is going to happen... NARATIVE BADNESS IS STILL BAD-
FEEEEEEEAAAAAAARRRRRR

If I understand John's power correctly he has infinite charge as long he has a teammate strong enough to punch holes in random walls, which is kind of goofy.

@Bitterman is there any limitation on the shape of the barriers? Can John move them at will or do they stay within their relative position?

Also wait the red barriers works on objects...

Huh- We can use the METS THE METS BABY GOTTA LOVE THE METZ LETS HIT A HOME RUN AND CHARGE UP THAT POWER

He can shape them at will, but the larger the weaker. He can move them as he pleases, but things like weight on the barrier maker it harder to do so.

John Henry's Red Barriers would be very ideal on a melee fighter that demands and attracts enemy attention, someone that can't be easily ignored and preferably has Steadfast's invincibility.

Sadly, we don't quite have that yet.

Still, Mona can get some advantage out of it, as an Invulnerable type.

Plus the combo of powers means that any ranged attackers, snipers, or ambushers, including Invisibility types, are going to have a rough go of it. He senses motion and solid objects, meaning something invisible but that still has weight, force, and momentum can't sneak up on him. Someone tries to shoot a bolt of flame from a nearby rooftop? He can sense it and block it.

Uh, monomolecular forcefield blades? Or wire actually. Forcefield bullets? Discount Telekinesis by wrapping stuff in a forcefield? Suffocate someone by putting a forcefield around their head? Can he make the forcefields elastic? This is kind of crazy.

[ ] Plan Rebel with a Doctorate
-[ ] Name: Valence
-[ ] Costume: Jumpsuit with a lab coat. Welding facemask. Workboots. Look like someone who made his own tech.
-[ ] Color scheme: Majority blue/white/gray with red accents. Have the blue and red match the color of his two force fields.
-[ ] Emblem: Diagram of an electron shell.

Go all in on the tech look to match the explanation of using Nora's tech.

Hold on

I'm processing. Give me second.

I have... a thought.
Do the red barriers, because they absorb impacts/injury stuff... do they negate/absorb fall damage/impacting into a building?
Like if someone gets thrown into a wall and John covers that wall in the red barrier before that person impacts it- does it just stop their momentum and protect them?!

CAN JOHN HENRY DO THE SUPERHERO LANDING AND HAVE NO REPURCUSSION?!!?!

Going back to the Helicopter that has a human and a punching bag idea, having John Henry and Menagerie Witch in the backline seems like the ideal strategy. Have one of Menagerie Witch's summons keep hitting a red barrier to keep recharging the team's shields.

[Clairvoyance] + [Clairvoyance] + [Energy Manipulation] + [Energy Manipulation] + [Ally Empowerment] = [Force Fields]
So I want to point out something as a reminder. Telekinesis also involved Clairvoyance + Energy Manipulation but is not this one, that synergy is still up in the air with the 3rd tag unknown.

Stats: HIT 3, ESPIONAGE 6, REPUTATION 6, OPERATIONS 7
This is more or less some of the best spread we could have gotten just in terms of helping set up John's main stats into a good spot to cover some of our biggest issues. At this point our total available hero stats are 38 HIT, 36 ESPIONAGE, 33 REPUTATION, 32 OPERATIONS if my math is correct, which is helping plug very well.

Meanwhile, I adore the power. While it doesn't get Chatroom's chatting for team coordination, the complete spacial awareness allows for ambush checking and avoids the LOS Bulwark restriction which was by far the worst bit of the original power. And Millions converting energy for the shields turned out wonderfully as well. Its just a solid defensive option for sure with some Espionage usecases.

Chatelet can bounce up to the rooftops in one go, but John can gain height quick by creating a staircase of shields, two steps at a time, dismissing the one behind him as he climbs up.
