Update tomorrow. It's nearly done. And shorter, for once!

Pre-Encounter Yellow Qilin: Poor little Leizi. She'll forced to pay the price for that wretched little thief, and I still hold all the cards! She'll be caught completely flat-footed, and have no choice but to concede or perish.
Post-Encounter Yellow Qilin: ...Why do I get the feeling that I've been suckered?

Lady Leizi: "Why does everyone republic-serial villain keep insisting they have me on the backfoot during these meetings? My word, the monologuing. Please, ask dear Christian and Christopher that turned out for them. Ah, wait, you can't."

Sneak peak of tomorrow, should you make the choices necessary to recruit Ellie here:

Name: Noelle "Ellie" Han
Age: 20
Stats: HIT 2, ESPIONAGE 1, REPUTATION 1, OPERATIONS 3,
Tolerance: 9
Chaucer's Notes: I'll defer to you, Lady Leizi, seeing as Ms. Han has been screened on your recommendation.

Lady Leizi's Notes: Ellie is the daughter of the late Heavenly Astrologian of New Dawn. When I encountered Ellie, she was leading an insurgent resistance against my father's former Triad which included five enemy metahumans and an army of . . . magical girls. Yes, that isn't a typo. Unfortunately.
Ellie's tactical prowess and lateral thinking ability is self-evident. She's an exceptionally bright girl, if a tad humorless. She is a self-taught fighter, but is surprisingly effective for that. Finally, her leadership skills are exceptional, with her ability to often simply will others to success.
She is, however, the absolute worst liar I have ever encountered. It's as if she finds the idea of subtly personally offensive. She is also exceptionally stubborn, for both good and ill. She is incorruptible, but does not grasp the idea of cutting one's losses. She at least demonstrates a willingness to listen to advice, but will single-mindedly pursue her chosen course of action once decided regardless of the cost to herself.

She's a bit low in the Stats department, but one must dismiss the importance of being earnest and genuinely fighting for the innocent. Of course, with Tolerance 9, we have a LOT of options for her.

how we seemed to be on the back-foot constantly.
To me it was par for the course when starting out with the city on fire right from the get go. The first timed missions set that tone clearly.

The dice somehow picked up on that, and to this day I'm still unsure if that was a blessing or a curse. Frankly it's miraculous both in-universe and out-of-universe how strong of a position JU managed to carve out after being wiped out, so much so that it's suffering from success as the opposition ramps up proportionately.

It might be a bit of Faust in me, but it feels appropriate to some extent. It makes reading the story a real page-turner, though I know that constant suspense and mounting challenges may not always be ideal for a quest where players have to roll the dice themselves.

Eh, keep in mind that I was talking more about the tone/feel of how the updates are structured. Also, the past two issues were the tutorial. It felt like a bit much to start out, but that's just me personally. Again, more the mood of the updates.

I know I shouldn't be worried given personality, status in the world, and the fact that their statblock is subject to change, but Noelle with her 2-1-1-3 stats are very close to my own Michiko and her "unedited for medium tolerance" 3-1-1-3 stats...

Her stats will go up if I change the tolerance. Those are the two things I'm mostly likely to change on submissions.

Why do normal people love to brag..... Seriously why.

I talked to a family friend once who used to be FBI organized and white collar crime, even once went undercover in Bratva even. According to him everybody who is normal brags about their crimes which is why he said villains monologuing and criminals confessing when caught in movies and anime is actually realistic (if exaggerated for fantasy) hell he got confessions when Bratva were gossiping.

Tobe clear he was undercover dealing with Bratva not as a member

Although also he admitted that the really scary ones , the shot callers, captains, bosses, career violent fighters, the best hitmen the ones that live to retire don't brag. Either cause they are smart or they are just so used to it.

Edit: So this might just mean ... leizi has had it easy and someone smart hasn't shown up yet .... Shiver

Also if John gets a tech power or power that helps him with tech or just helps him be a mechanic partner him with Noelle in E-B

Also ... He wasn't Perfect but Faust was kinda circumspect .. .... He didn't monologue..though he did reveal a little info

Throw a dice for fun d6 so don't think it counts for anything
Crazyone47 threw 1 6-faced dice. Total: 5
5 5

I think I have a thought.

Chatroom is 'support' telepathy-telepathy as a means of communication and coordination.

What if Enhanced Senses + Clairvoyance + Mental Manipulation is 'offensive' telepathy? Digging into someone's brain to read their secrets, or reading a mind to dodge attacks, or giving someone a really big headache?

Alternatively, "offensive telepathy" could be like Shin from Sakamoto Days; that character was able to read a person's motor-readiness potential, which is the spike in the brain areas that govern movement just before the actual movement takes place. That allowed him to read a person's movements before they made any moves or even consciously thought about moving.

Sort of the counterpart to Wolong's power: instead of a long-term [Analytical Postcognition], it'd be an instant [Motoric Precognition].

Of course, we'd need a lot more [Enhanced Senses] for something like that…

The main way to Enhanced Senses stack while not losing out on Clairvoyance is probably rocking with Red Huntress + Daggermaw?

Sewer Rat + Daggermaw combos exist if going for the cheapest Enhanced Senses sources but then you're likely locking in Hunch + a 4 cost {Memoria/Chatroom/ispy} for 9/13 max to hit two Clairvoyance and I'm not sure how easily that builds into a fully coherent build with the synergy attempt with what remains?

I guess Sewer Rat allows for building into something of an Espionage build due to the shrinking capacity so Ispy/Ms Conception/+1 could lead into some Invisibility Esp build? Which isn't bad but I'm not sure fits the intended idea here.

Chatroom + Wild Speaker gives a push into Ally Empowerment and some Mental Manipulation which could maybe work with Sewer Rat's dysmorphic element? Theoretically I guess this works though it feels odd.

Memoria frankly just goes into a punchy build after having Sewer Rat and Daggermaw probably given it also provides only one Clairvoyance?

So would giving someone E-B once we've gotten another 10 tolerance candidate be a separate global action, or would it be an option for the power granting action? It doesn't matter that much but it might effect how likely we are to vote for it.

It's an option for Project Prometheus, but you can take that Global Action up to two times a turn after the events of eTraction! It's either one hero at the start of a turn, or two heroes midway through. (Yes, mid-way, not at the end of a turn now. This quest is about building heroes, so I'm gonna let you start building them.)

Interesting...my first thought would be that it'd be more cost-effective to do Spoonful of Sugar for both Yara and Noelle, then Prometheus in the middle of a turn. That way we get them to Tolerance 9 immediately and have them given their powersets.

Well, they're both tolerance 9 already? And you might not have to wait until next turn for Ellie.
Ah, right. I meant boost them to Tolerance 10.

And also, a fair point regarding Ellie. That being said, considering that she is a high Tolerance character, I just think that it's probably best to give her a one time boost to push her up to the ceiling before we give her whatever powerset we decide on.
