I will start by saying that I play for both Team Applesauce and Team Sour Cream.

But your applesauce shouldn't be bland baby food applesauce. Get some cinnamon and spices in there. And don't forget the salt.
Oh, of course. That's the only way to have applesauce.

My mother likes to tell a story about when she and my aunt were going to make applesauce together. My mother started bringing out all the spices, and my aunt protested because applesauce is supposed to be nothing but apples. My mother disagreed, of course. Then my aunt showed my mother the special magic spoon with a hole in it she got for stirring the applesauce, so it would stay lumpy. My mother, of course, protested that that's disgusting.

In the end, they agreed that they really couldn't make applesauce together…

Sour cream is good with latkes, but I honestly just like eating them as themselves.

hmm if they are anything like one of the 5 types of swedish potato pancakes (7 if you count the types with blood(but they are more blood pancakes than potato ones)) they would go good with lingon berries (either rawstirred(?) or jam) and if you are to eat them with sour cream you should add red onions.

I'd say yes, wonder if Betsy noticed her effect on Noa?

Also something silly:
Noa's visible mutant-traits say "Dragon" to me, And Elizabeth Braddock is as close to a prim and proper princess as you can find.
Are there draconic impulses at play? Does Noa desire to take Betsy and add her to the Dragon's Hoard?
Wait a few decades. Noa meets Betsy along Jubilee and her baby son, and the stare off gets awkward.

That is to say, the question of sour cream versus applesauce.

Dad was on Team Cream. Dad was wrong.
Well, Christkindlmarket sells potato pancakes and one of the sides is apple sauce and/or sour cream (in separate puddle blobs).

I'm going to have to give it to Noa here. The Apple sauce contrasts well with the potatoes. Not just taste but temperature.

I am still enough of a fan of sour cream to just get both though.

So, that suggestion to try and just grind some up for use in meatloaf?… shit. I like meatloaf. I'm gonna have to try that, because it sounds awesome.

As for Bullseye — he's a known mercenary. Yes, he committed a capital crime, but this puts the cart before the horse. Somebody HIRED him. Which means there is a bigger fish on the hook… and the Sword of Damocles hanging over Bullseye's head is a great incentive to talk, wouldn't you say?
It's sharper if you grind some up to mix in with whatever glaze you use. Its pretty subtle mixed in directly.

I've been experimenting with various chili crisps recently, and they really elevate a turkey and cheese sandwich when you mix it in with the mayo (or mayochup, which I've been in love with recently). I've been really enjoying momofuku's chili crunch, very crunchy with a light sweetness, but you need to add the peppercorns to add numbing.

Heh, given her semi celebrity, she could probably take a shot at blowing up the American food scene early, all the ingredients are there in NYC, they just haven't really metastasized into fusion cuisine for the masses.

keep the specter of Mariah Carey away for much longer
She needs to be stopped! As a resident grinch the god awful christmas music is one of the major reasons why. That song is so annoying.

I was in a electronics store and they had this truly impressively terrible christmas cover of "girls just wanna have fun" that was called "elves just wanna have fun".

Seriously, the crimes against music by themselves would justify making christmas illegal. All these marvel villains to take over the world makes sense because then they could outlaw christmas music.

Hi miss Daye, love your fanfic and I'm now reading your other ones which I know it's great and I hope you came to read this if you have the time.

(P.S I hope I'm not necroing to thread since I'm a latercomer and at the same time the mods are kind enough to not send me to the shadow realm.)

I'm just wondering related to the 616 universe in this fanfic in particular your self insert's reaction/actions, like how would noa deal with a case with an overt mystical "fingerprints" like a victim of a bloodfeast from vampires and familiars and your defendant is a legit vampire hunter Eric brooks aka blade who is more or less waging a genocidal war against all of vampirekind or even she has to defend Dracula herself in court just as the way she defended that mutant kid early in the fanfic and magneto, I'm just wondering if she (and by lesser extent you since it's says on your TV tropes page of this fanfic that your a real life lawyer) ever had to defend a client with less scrupulous character and in some cases "guilty"?

Like an example what a lawyer has to represent a serial killer in the vein of ted bundy/jeffrey dahmer or school shooters like those that did in columbine (especially since this set in the 90s)

The other related tangent question would be if Noa would be willing to defend the likes of frank castle, johnny blaze and marc spector in court, especially if the likes of johnny blaze with the spirit of vengeance and marc spector with khonshu at play here, with both of them having made deals with powerful interdimensional beings with ulterior motives and agendas that are "evil" and "bad" in both the traditional sense and "extraordinary" sense?

If not and she's only focusing on particularly mutant cases then, what if she has to represent jean grey, particularly in her dark phoenix mode during her genocide "cleansing" phase, illyana rasputin and her "custody" in the limbo dimension, weapon X continued quest for controllable super soldiers/assassins by the way of x-23 (wolverine's clone kid), namor and his diplomatic immunity for his arrogance to try to sink the surface world (and of course cuckold reed richards by fucking/force married his wife/maybe then girlfriend susan storm in this timeline?), the inhumans if they decided to bring the terrigen mist plot earlier here and the likes of cable, en sabba nur/apocalypse's resurgence in this modern era in his attempt, the multiverse hopping exiles and their attempts to save mutantkind, moira mactaggert's "looper" powers shenanigans, (unless you don't plan to include that from the recent x men comics plot points and storylines) Deadpool and his potential breaking point of his 4th ability/curse and his mental state deciding to go "kill the marvel universe" nihilism and of course who can we forget legion (professor x' son), his psychic thought form with magneto named onslaught and finally charles xavier's psychic "sister" cassandra nova.

I know it's a looooooong list that you might not put any of my outlines/not I your overall plot and it is irrelevant, I didn't even touch upon the likes of doctor doom, thanos, kang the conqueror and even organizations especially the recent ones that are now under noa's radar to keep track to since bullseye just tried to kill her like the hand, mandarin's ten rings, demon cults that worship mephisto and dormammu (especially the angel cult of the archangel zadkiel and heaven's "black ops" the asura), the u.s government's utility of the symbiotes during the vietnam war ( if you decided to bring in the klyntarr god knull storyline in this universe) and lastly, the hydra organization...

So I hope that you could at least give your thoughts in the matter or maybe just say a few things that flight your fancy, in the end I'm glad I've read your work that is scratching my itch for lawyer procedurals the good fight and it's earlier series the good wife.

A prim and proper princess who happened to be a ninja.

At least she doesn't wear orange and screams "Believe It!" while smacking her enemies with a big blue energy ball right to the face.

Also the question is in this universe is Betsy possessing/body snatching the asian ninja kwannon or in this 616 she's a British Japanese mixed race descent?

Personally I prefer the latter, it's less complicated and problematic and it's much easier... (I guess olivia munn played the part gracefully and it's a damn shame the movies didn't utilize the character more to begin with).

Ooh, goodie! Let me just... settle in here... many responses time!

Well, Noa would probably not be able to do anything – the requirements for forensic evidence is generally that it has to be "accepted practice" in the scientific community; that is to say, peer review has vindicated whatever method is being used, and it's accurate enough to be used in science, not just in law. There isn't a chance in hell that the mystic community is large enough to have a set of accepted practices.

As for your second question... I've mostly done plaintiff-side work myself, actually. But one of those was a client suing for damages from a federal program in the Court of Federal Claims. The client didn't actually NEED the money he was suing for, not in the least – he was a multi-millionaire with two vacation homes and had just sold his company for millions more.
But he was also willing to throw the entire monetary reward he was slated to receive should we win his case, which was substantial, directly at lobbying efforts meant to expand the program and make it easier for other plaintiffs to get their due.

As for a second example... I was doing contract work for a tiny firm, writing briefs and motions for their litigation backlog. One of them, their client was being sued for attempting to bully a tenant into moving out so they could tear down rent controlled apartments and replace them with new, market-rate apartments.

Holy hell. She had 2,000+ pages of evidence. Photographs, videos, letters and emails from the property managers... holy hell. It was open and shut in her favor...

... and my job was to essentially just. Throw enough interrogatives at her in discovery that she was guaranteed to fuck up, since she was doing it pro se, couldn't afford an attorney, and had failed to retain counsel from any of the various firms and organizations that would do pro bono or on-commission work.

Yeah. I didn't sleep that night.

Nope. She would look at them, tell them 'thank you for your consideration', and show them the door.

Except in Marc Spector's case. She would yell at him and curse him out until she was blue in the face, then slam the door and poor herself a tall glass of chardonnay to help unwind.

The overwhelming majority of these will, thankfully, not come up. By the time Dark Phoenix happens, Noa will be 'on the outs' with most of the Xavier crew, for example.

Namor, Noa dislikes because she made things a bit of a hell for every New Yorker back in the mid-80's by flooding the entire city for about a week and a half. This week and a half is why Noa keeps a home office setup in her condo.

But yeah. Most of these... either aren't going to happen here, or will happen so far in the background that Noa won't have the slightest fucking clue it even occurred.

Betsy got Grand Theft Body'd by Kwannon Kanon. God, it's amazing how little you have to do to make the name actually viable!

But yeah. Betsy will have some issues to resolve as a result of getting grand theft body'd – dysmorphia and dysphoria are NOT FUN IN THE LEAST – but she'll have her adorable lizzer girlfriend to help her!~

That seems both misrepresenting your link and irrelevant?

It's both not misrepresenting my link and not irrelevant, but I am frankly burnt out today to explain it better.

Also incredibly rude. Really, @Dmol8?

Cultural differences. My apologies for the rudeness. I'll delete that post and put it up again when I have the mental energy to do so properly and not rudely. It is actually relevant to the story itself, but I'm really bad at explaining how right now.

isn't there something can be done in cases like that? where the lawyer can go "I'm pretty sure my client is guilty"?

No, because to the attorney the client's wishes are sacred. The lawyer can tell them their case is fucked and the best they can hope for is a deal that goes their way, but if the client wants to fight it, the attorney has to fight it, or ask to be permitted to step down by the court.

Yes, the judge can refuse to let you step down, mostly because that would mean the client is not represented by a properly certified specialist in legal matters, and that would be even worse for the client than an attorney who does not want to do the case and only does their mandated duties.

Well thanks for the reply to my inquiries miss Daye, especially your stories in your career as a lawyer which is very enlightening for us to learn and thankful for you to lend your stories for us here in any forums for us to read for free.

Hope you continue doing this and have a successful life in your future and even present, and lastly I have few questions regarding organizations, will hydra eventually try to kill her (noa) for her potential threat to itself ala mcu's project insight kill list at some point by sending the winter soldier at her? Considering she just outed herself as a mutant lawyer, got herself a hit from possibly by the hand organization by the way of bullseye, and is growing in reputation as a respected lawyer like matthew murdock and jennifer walters for different reasons and of course clients want to sue other corporations like roxxon, possibly alchemax (they'll form at somepoint in the somewhat far present in the 2000s, especially marvel comic's sliding timescale) and especially trask industries with the sentinels being their most famous products and maybe she might try to sue them if she had a client that is willing, strong evidence and especially is rich enough to burn money in her lap that wants to sue said corporations eventually considering she just won a case against a ceo of a Corp by the way of norman osborn, (granted it is not related to said corporation and their business practices and is a personal matter).

(Especially since this is pre-civil war/superhero registration act era here)

Yeah about the likes of mark spector and johnny blaze and even daniel ketch, I guess she'll try to call Dr strange to keep those guys at the distance especially if the spirits of vengeance (zarathos) and especially gods that tried to "use" their avatars as sockpuppets away from her, (especially spector here, khonshu wouldn't ask for a better "apostle" than him, and may want her for future "prospects" for avatarship at some point) and frank castle here is ultimately "small" fry for her.

Ooooh and I just realized if kwannon eventually got her body back from Betsy braddock pre-krakoan age of x era earlier I've got a last question regarding their situation, if kwannon decides to sue betsy here especially her family since she is rich and related to the braddock family and especially since betsy's brother is a mystical super soldier captain britain (really leaning in on the imperialism here) she could (kwannon here) try to sue betsy for grand theft body and emotional damages hehe, a bit silly but somewhat very serious here, How strong is kwannon's case against betsy here and will hold up to court, especially new york court?

I'm very curious of how a case like this going forward here especially with the magical community here is somewhat "small" aka opaque and in hiding (that's not even including the time traveling and multiverse hopping let alone literal alien and "gods" communities living here on this 616 earth) and would indeed help in this case like this for future cases in reference to this, especially in the types of body possessions and literal magical cults (I've always wondered of this new york court with literal gods and monsters has the capacity to try to sue Thor (a god) or an archangel like zadkiel (literal servant of the G.O.D all caps) for damage to property and especially human collateral and bodily harm for their "heroics" ala pre-civil war case in both the stanford incident in the comics and Laos in the mcu)... very curious on your thoughts and comments on the matter, thanks.
