Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Add me to the pile of folks asking for a link when it is ready- I don't follow except for this story so… please let us know here :)

I'm pretty excited about the announcement.

I have to say, post Galactus I haven't enjoyed this fic as much. I think it's strength was very much street/ city level legal / civil rights drama with super powers. Both the SI part, and the global/ cosmic scale marvel part ended up muddling what I think were this fics strengths.

I hope playing in your own sandbox as it were let's you build on what you were doing well here.

Congratulations on taking the next step, I eagerly await the results!

Absolutely thrilled to read this. I hope you've had as good a time writing this as we all will reading it! Cheers, October!

Ladies, gentlemen, and those who stand above such silly little binaries;

I said I would come back when it was time for the big reveal. And so, with that in mind, I am proud to present:

Foxfire, Esq.
Is there a thread open for discussion of the fic here or SB? I like the chapters you've posted but have some comments. If it's going to be posted here, I'd rather comment in the right place. I prefer a conversation in a forum setting as opposed to the comments in site like AO3 or RR.

How does posting on royal road work anyway? Like, is there a reason to only post it there? (rather than there, SV, SB, etc.)
Well for one, the site culture is much more open to the idea of going to an author's Patreon for advance content.

Beyond that, there's a bit of an implicit understanding going in that any author could get, and take, the opportunity to start publishing their work in either a semi-traditional or properly traditional fashion, resulting in the entire story (or at least back volumes) disappearing from Royal Road and reappearing for purchase on Amazon, itch.io, or other ebook-selling platform.

And the third bit is that it does have publishers and literary scouts trawling it on the regular, looking for the next big indie sensation.

The trick to it is that its algorithm is simultaneously well-understood and completely frickin' opaque. There is a game to it, and giving it a fair bit of attention and focus early on (especially if you hit the Rising Stars list) is crucial to performing well. It's a lot easier to branch out once you've gotten yourself locked in, which is why I'm putting the focus there to begin with before crossposting happens.

But rest assured, crossposting WILL happen.

FWIW linking your patreon/ko-fi/otherwise soliciting money in your fic is against AO3's TOS, and they aren't kidding around with it, they will remove your work wholesale if you get caught.

If Alt!Noa Was Somehow In Marvel Rivals
I got bit by a brain bug and wrote a Marvel Rivals character sheet for Noa (in a timeline where she became a superhero):

So my concept for Noa as a support is that she is inherently pretty fragile even by support standards, and with somewhat limited escape, but is very good at setting up favorable engagements. She is decently easy to start playing, but requires a highly coordinated team to get the most use out of her ult- it's basically a Smoke of Deceit from DotA where it can win a team fight or get your team wiped immediately if it's used badly and you get caught out of position. Careful monitoring of her cooldowns is essential-she has lots of burst healing and ability to rescue teammates in trouble, but even though she has a hitscan click, it would be very weak, and she is not going to be able to fight off an equivalent skill diver if she gets caught without 'Objection!'

Her passives encourage her to stay with the team and also help her and the team get back to objectives and the fight, but isn't useful in an active engagement. 'Jewish Pennicilin' allows her to help divers outside LoS and give them an on-demand heal and steroid, but it's on them to use it-you don't respawn with your soup if you die without using it.

However, a short invis is not particularly great as far as escapes go, and with the lowest HP in the game, low damage, and no skills that affect the enemy team, getting caught out of position is going to get her killed quickly.

Some pre-round patter:

Noa: "If nothing else, it's nice to have the internet and portable computers again."

Reed: "Oh, did you go to a timeline without them before?"

Noa: "... You could say that."

Noa: "Bucky, when we get out of here, here's my card. I'll represent you pro bono. Erik will probably help too. Just don't tell me the details."

Loki: "I have been told that you are well-versed in Midgard legal-"

"No. Absolutely not. I will not represent you for all the gold in Asgard."

Thor: "Ah, Noa! I have some advice for your roller derby play!"

Noa: "...When did you watch me play?"

Thor: "I've seen most of your games. We've talked a few times at the rink, actually."

Noa: "Wait...Dr Blake?"

You will have a 2-17 Spiderman screaming "GIVE SOUP" at you over VC all game. There is no joke.

Who's voice actors and actresses do you hear for some of these characters?

Noa for example has Kristin Chenoweth's height, but I keep hearing Rhea Seehorn playing Kim Wexler from Better Call Saul.

Catherine Caine meanwhile makes me think of Diane Neal playing Abigail Borin from NCIS.

@October Daye , would Noa be appalled of the existence of four supervillain prisons: The Big House, The Cube, The Vault and The Raft? Where anyone can be thrown in without due process and their civil rights outright ignored such as:
1. Graviton - he was immediately imprisoned for 10 years at The Raft after gaining his powers from a S.H.I.E.L.D. science experiment accident and he didn't even commit a crime at the time.
2. Hulk/Bruce Banner - he was captured for his gamma blood to be studied to be their human guinea pig and being held against his will at The Cube.

I'll add an addendum to this, they are also a lot more critical if you can't keep up a regular release schedule.

Somewhat, however you're also supposed to "stub" tag your fiction when that happens and "exclude stub" is a direct option for the search system. Meaning your discoverability drops by a significant amount if you accept such an offer before hitting the point your story is self sustaining.

And the third bit is that it does have publishers and literary scouts trawling it on the regular, looking for the next big indie sensation.
None of which you want to deal with because they're the type that will rip you off.

And this isn't just me pulling this out of nowhere, it's actual advice I have received from a real life author who's been writing paperback's for upwards of 20 years at this point and has directly dealt with the scummy publishers and scouts in question.
