Ok, real talk though, Rei's been away from the [Redacted] for five years now, and she's been trying to live a normal civilian life as a cashier. She's gotten very, VERY rusty.

Remade my earlier Magical Girl concept to fit the companion vote. Opinions are welcome. Waiting to see if the wish is valid.
EDIT: With the accord of the QM and since around half of the voters are fine with the decision, I have changed the wish for the non-Alternate version of the plan.

Third ever plan ive made im this site, hope i formated this right.

Edit: as i was cooking something for lunch it kinda hit me that my plan... could kinda go for a summoner build too because of my faceclaim... a duo of summoners. Persona flavor summoning? Demons? Instead of aparition he could merge with the summons/make a armor out of them... Arsene would look snazy either way..... and now im imagining the one fufiled the wish was something aking to Yalba or any of the Shin Megami / Persona end games bosses.... omg i made Ren into Akechi

...i think you have a 1 point deficit in your plan... (2 to start, -1 for kohai =1 -1 for hero otaku =0 -2 for master of magic=-2
+1 for unending grief =-1) oh yeah you need ome more flaw to break even.
 
On an unrelated note, once it became clear that Ex-Assassin would win for Rei, I decided to binge read some other manga with assassins.

And while I dropped this isekai one after two chapters, I'd like to have you all take a look at Sakamoto Days, which I've decided to fully read for inspiration.





Once we get into our first combat, you guys have my full permission to have Rei steal borrow some of these lines/moments.
 
To speculate a bit on how the relation between Rei Maruki and Kaneko Akemi would work (QM is the one that has the final say in how the relation would actually be like, but it doesn't hurt to express personal opinions, even if they might not be accurate)...
  • Bonded over their shared character traits and past (growing up as assassins who desired to leave that life behind and find some measure of peace, both of them being individuals who are capable as schemers);
  • Between the two, Akemi is the one who's more capable as a fighter and more socially savvy than her partner (which made her suitable as an infiltrator back when she was still carrying out hits at the behest of whoever her master was), who is mostly there to cover for Akemi's deficiency in technology usage (especially if the Alternate Version of the plan wins, where Akemi is heavily specced into Social to the point she's has an easy time in most situations that call for said stat and could also pull off a Bavarian Fire Drill if the situation call for something like that or some other Social Engineering tricks);
  • In situations where they both fought together in the past, Akemi was the one calling the shots and deciding on a general plan before the engagement, so that Rei could indulge in her battle frenzy while still being of help to Akemi.

Okay, here's my try. This mainly came from all the wishes just being kind of boring. I think it would be more interesting if our Magical Person made a petty, selfish wish and lived long enough to regret it which now inspires his heroism and desire to atone. His mistakes led him to this point but now

Deciding to take more inspiration from Yu-Gi-Oh Ryuga is a former shonen rival who sold his principles to beat his rival and said rival probably suffered an underserved fate leaving him with nothing but ennui and guilt at how he accomplished his goal.

A kaiba face with what looks like RED EYES? I think og Kaiba would have a stroke.
