Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

Naron, I think you're going too fast when it comes to socializing. It's like you're forcing Cerys into forcing herself, she's been this for years even before she ran away with Una and to suddenly try to be a social butterfly is going to be like jamming a square peg into a round hole. Cerys has time to slowly get used to interacting with people who are completely different from the usual people she's been forced to deal with. Remember how long Rukia said this quest could be for Cerys, you don't need to force change right now. Please just slow down.

Well... I kind of had this very discussion half a page ago and already agreed to slow down, so... uh... what exactly was this supposed to do?

Just saying, you still seemed intent on it.

This was just half a page ago and it's not like anyone else besides Darkfire was talking to you about it.

Fair enough; I was not planning on much social from this point onwards, anyway. We will be too busy shaping up for what is to come starting the next day.
My main thought behind these social votes was that... well, we kind of have to work with these people. So maybe make a good first impression with a short introduction before we go back to ignoring them until we feel ready to properly deal with them.
That would still have been rude, but not as much as just ignoring them at all times... does that make sense?

I guess I misjudged the character a bit there. And maybe there will be no/only minor repercussions from this due to our circumstances... whatever. Done is done, back to munchkining and min-maxing.

Additionally, @Rukia, I have this feeling that you failed with the date.

My count was for the day Cerys was at before the last update, which probably was the 16th. She asked her question in the morning of the current day, after the last one was over.
So it should be the 17th.

Having just woken up and in a better state of mind, yes, it is currently the 17th. Monday, my bad.

Your lessons are on hold until next week, I probably should have mentioned.
Jeanne is currently in Europe, they had to look far for a two-hander swordswoman.

I suppose you could start early with Morgan if you wanted too?

Eh... having a few more days to get used to the new surroundings sounds like a good idea.
So...seeing that we basically just got the schedule, how about we just say we start the lessons on Wednesday?

You can start with Morgan whenever, she's been pulled off of field work until you've been settled and are considered stable.
Jeanne is currently on a job, she cant come over until next week.

You get it.
The initial Trio Gaia created were supposed to be the Leaders of a new age of MG's and so they needed to be the strongest.
Victory, Beginning/End, Protection/Love.

They all have very powerful and far-reaching affinities, if given time you can escalate really far.

Ugh, so we have to throw it into a vote...

Hey, does anyone have preferences on when to start with the lessons? I would much prefer either Wednesday or Thursday; right after the initial excitement subsided and before boredom can settle in.

If it would help, once lessons start, I'm going to start writing chapters in day chunks rather than morning-midday-afternoon-midnight.
I'll pause if something happens or a vote is needed, but I'll probably also skim over the lessons, since I doubt you all want me to write about Cerys learning how to Math.

I actually suspected something like this.
In fact, I was thinking that we could just fill up the remaining time in Cerys' schedule with other things and just play the weekends, or when something comes up. This might also be an option, which would allow you to basically write one chapter for five days and then one or two for Saturday and Sunday respectively... which would speed up the whole thing a lot.

But I have to discuss this with the others first... and we would need to get to an agreement on how to fill out the schedule in case the majority is in favour.

if you could do this, it would be a be one way of writing the story.
You'd get less fluff and the story would be short, but it would be much, much faster.
Also it wouldn't take me like a month to get to the next combat chapter.

We would probably get a lot of fluff during the weekends... and besides, the one chapter depicting the weekdays would probably have a few fluffy snippets, too.
But yes, the main advantage is that the story is not bloated up unnecessarily with basic education we all have and can progress somewhat faster.

We could just meet new people.

Um... not really. We had a big discussion just before and found that Cerys is not yet ready to meet more people.

Also we should keep an eye on Oliver because he would know how Clocktower will respond which mean he could plan.

Honestly... if he is not a mastermind-chessmaster who can outsmart Karen, I doubt that we have much to be afraid about. And if he were, he would not be sitting around in R&D.
From how Karen and Morgan reacted towards the topic... I get the feeling that Oliver, should he actually try anything, would soon land on Karen's bad side. Which I imagine being only one step less bad than being taken in by the Light.

Let me just pre-empt you and say, no, he's not going to be a problem.
Cerys is far too valuable to them to let him, as good at his job as he is, sour her opinion of the Clocktower.
He's been dealt with.

Rukia said:
Still, it only takes a minute or so more before you make it to R&D, helpfully signed above their door. Morgan leads you through into a small waiting room, where someone notices you quickly. He walks over and greets Morgan rapidly, sending a look your way. Morgan smiles a little stiffly and starts speaking. "Hello Oliver, no, I'm just here for Cerys today. Affinity testing." The man's eyes move over to you and he stares at you a little threateningly, you feel your magic ripple slightly as you stare him down, making the hair on his arms stand on end. Morgan lets out a single tut and he jumps before walking away, a much more careful eye on you than before.

You look at Morgan incredulously, what the hell? She picks up on your silent words. "Sorry about that guy he's..." She purses her lips together and her eyebrows draw together into a small frown. "A little obsessed, to put it politely." She grimaces and she moved into the next room, well out of earshot. "I'd been hoping that he got over it while I was away." She sighs. "Don't worry about him, while he's valuable we have way too much important kept here to leave an unstable element floating around, he'll be dealt with."

"Creepy stalker not your type?"

She snorts. "No, he's just equipped entirely wrong. Let alone the whole 'creepy as fuck' thing he's got going." That... somewhat surprised you actually, you had just thought that she'd been having silly fun teasing you.
Honestly? It's pretty obvious he is just some random mook with a creepy attitude.

I was not really expecting him to be a problem for those very reasons, actually.
Although... how has he been dealt with? Did Karen relocate him elsewhere?

Well that's good, was expecting that we have to come to Morgan's rescue as her knight in magical armor down the line with this guy. Nice to see proactive measures.

You know, there is a place people are sent to when they creep on underage children.
It really doesn't end well when their fellows learn of that fact. Accidentally of course.

Unique and powerful Magic only gives you so much leeyway and he was already on thin ice.

(TL;DR, Magical Prison where his secrets will be investigated rather more roughly.)

Soo... I guess we will not see him again.
Seems like I can add another snippet of data to the intel.

Would be rather strongly against it, the grinding is basically of negative interest to me and only happening because we need to do it. I'm dubious of being able to maintain interest in such circumstances.

Okay... how would you like to go at it, then?

(To note, the grinding would be mostly off-screen while all the interesting things are played out, so you would not lose much from it.)

Just like we've already been doing? We've been actually getting stuff done while grinding at the end of day or when there's nobody to interact with.
