Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

Alright calmed down a bit but I just want to say that this is the last straw. Forcibly screwing with emotions is on par with if not worse than all the stuff that made us leave Karen for Gaia in the first place. So then time for carving our own path unless Gaia really wants to just go screw free will on us and make us a slave or actively hold Una over our heads.

Because we really shouldn't be working with someone who'll try to shut off emotions because we picked an option SHE PRESENTED and it wasn't the one she wanted most.

Heart or brain...
Basically, we chose to get our heart screwed with. Other option might have been our brain getting scrambled.
Sad thing? We mighta made the right pick. Well, depends on if Emotions or Knowledge is more difficult to re-create for Cerys or for Gaia.
Either way, it probably means an end to Cerys's mental issues! She'll be as stable as a rock by the end of this.

I believe I have some fundamental disagreements with the way Gaia is written in this quest...
She actually is no master planner in here. Rukia takes a different approach based on the fact mainline never depicts her actually being particularly good at long-term planning... and some other, AU-related reasons.
I hope those AU reasons are good, because that other one is pretty shit.

Gaia learning over a period of...I wanna say like 200+ years how to not-treat MGs that she gets ahold of?
Like we're the first time she's done this if I understand the situation and the world-timeline I think is in fact Centuries long.

So what I'm seeing here is that Gaia saw Cerys about to go apocalyptic and told A&O to do something about it

And then this happened

So basically she just managed to trade one clusterfuck for another

I don't think Cerys was actually about to apocalypse... Burn a hole in a floor or two maybe, but full on nuke? Doesn't seem likely.

By that logic Gaia should be less of dumbass, not more.

True, I'm just saying that Gaia seemed to be trying to make Cerys normal again, because she might not have known exactly what would happen, or something along those lines.

Gaia: "Thanks Karen, because of your underhanded manipulation I now have a Magical Girl team in my pocket! Now hold my beer."

Fuck her. I want to make her suffer, she's going to pay for this regardless of the consequences. It's appalling how blatantly stupid and quite frankly evil she is.

Gaia probably should have paid more attention to the anime she likes so much.

If I'm reading the thread sentinent right she might have just burned this bridge for good.

So, i know this is bad and terrible and bad and shouldn't have happened and needs to be gone asap, but i can't help but feel it's kind of hilarious? I don't know, maybe i'm in that tired kind of mood where everything's funny.

Disappointing, was hoping a break from Gaia would've had been more emotionally impactful if it happened. Ideally, witnessing first hand the effects of the war she's helped instigated or growing to truly love her as a mother and then finding out she didn't feel the same.

If it did end up with Gaia just not really caring for Cerys personally, I was hoping for a sort of long-con that got exposed and made Cerys acknowledge all the times she was just being subtly manipulated to help accomplish certain objectives with little care for the long-term survival and happiness of her or her sister. Instead, we got this rather short-sighted over the top betrayal with no real purpose that just made me laugh a bit.

Welp. Everyone's up in arms, and only, I think it's 3? people have been reading it right.

AFAIK, to dumb this way down, Gaia asked Omega Engine 'Hey, since she's going to be hanging out with this dying girl, can you help by muffling what your mom's feeling from this?' and Omega Engine said 'Hey, sure, that sounds swell. But then she'll still be hurting. And that's not right. So I'm just gonna turn it almost all the way off."
Gaia realized that what was a fairly reasonable request has suddenly gone from 'weed the garden' to 'BURN THE FIELDS!' with 0 warning because her chosen intermediary apparently has very loose interpretations and no idea what limits or morals are. Which we never got around to teaching it.

Amusingly, the thread's response to Gaia is roughly the same as Gaia's has been in regards to Omega Engine. IE: WHAT DID YOU DO YOU STUPID SHIT OH GOD EVERYTHING IS AWFUL NOW WHY DID I TRUST YOU?

That about right, @Rukia?

Edit: As a brief point, everyone's largely in character. Gaia is not unloving or unkind... she's very inhuman though, and has shown several times to have only a loose grasp of morality. She doesn't want her chosen 'daughter' to suffer... and the way she chose to do it used an intermediary who could and did deliberately misinterpret and escalate to an illogical extreme.

It's amazing how badly everything can go wahoonie shaped with a simple misunderstanding.

You are correct.

Ah yes, because asking a concept that was born from experimentation to handicap human emotion is a good idea. Instead of you know, letting the person have their own agency and deal with the loss themselves. No it's better to take control like you're programming a robot because you're so smart and know exactly what your doing.

I've been done with Gaia for a long time, from the moment she fucked with Cerys' head to call her mother and her sneaky underhanded manipulations throughout this entire quest. She is easily the most hated character and deserves all of it.

And to point it out, this entire situation, excluding Shiva, is her fault. The way she's acted with Willow caused this gap to happen, the trip to Japan was just more trickery, and now this A or B choice just made it worse. Congrats Gaia, you almost had a wind up soldier and somehow fucked it up.

I'm aware Gaia didn't intend this, but we've been extending an awfully large amount of trust in her direction and getting negative payout most of the way.

Hence, she screwed it up good and Shiva succeeded.

I think I speak for everyone when I say as soon as this is fixed Gaia will be burninated by us.
