Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

While we are at the mechanics...
Technically speaking, does our Thermal Sense make us immune to Burn, Melt and Freeze?
(Because if it does, maybe that should be noted under the Ability)

I would say it functionally makes us immune simply because Cerys is subconsciously regulating her temperature. I imagine if she was unconscious then we would still freeze just like anyone else. Not sure about burns though. I think we are immune to fire since we were unaffected by it before we figured out thermokineses.

If the burn/freeze is hot/cold enough to overwhelm your Thermal Control (Not sure why you keep using Sense there?) then it will apply for at least one turn.

You aren't immune to temperature, but your body, even without Thermal Control, really could give less of a shit about hot or cold.

I have the feeling that anything capable of overwhelming Thermal Control would make us an ice statue/turn into ash in an instant anyway... unless it weakens the effect, that is.
Like, for example, a normal human burns their hands when touching something at 100+°C while Cerys gets burns from touching something 100+°C hotter than her own resistance can block.

Sorry was sleeping

You have yet to say anything to this.

I also thought about your argument some more... and realised that while I had the most optimistic view on it, you adopted the most pessimistic.
It is as likely for nothing in particular to happen; maybe people would just take it as a habit for Magical Girls to recount their phrase when meeting a worthy opponent or something like that.

For the phrase: I honestly say that if you are going to do the phrase, do the opposite.

Say it sometimes during more casual use, but always go straight for the transformation outside of that, because I still think saying it for worth opponents and/or big fights could backfire badly.

By saying it during other more casual things we give the impression that we like using the magical girl phrase, and keep it being a thing, but not using it during serious battles gives the impression that it isn't actually needed.

Something that makes a magical girl feel good but doesn't actually effect their abilities.

As for the mountain thing, as you said for the phrase, is also true for here, I adopted the most pessimistic view. Hence, I have no desire to do anything close to poking what is in that mountain. Might do nothing, or dragon might suddenly notice something is minutely affecting it and wake up in a rage :V.

Probably not but paranoia!

Also we had already reported that the mountain was hotter than it should be. From that alone they should hopefully send someone to check the possibly magical phenomena once the magical creatures are dead and they have people to spare on doing so.

@Sinarblood, about the calling the air support: Air-Air missiles are either radar-guided or infrared guided. Why not ask the air support to be with an infrared loadout and try to tag the bird with fire and heat if it tries to run away and make it basically unmissable

I don't think asking for air support to be with an infrared loadout will change anything at this time. They have to be close enough to support us in the worse case scenario (meaning they are probably not be in their base anymore), and it takes time to change loadouts anyway, time that we might not have. Hence it is probably already up to QM decision what type of guidance system they are currently equipped with.

Also since it doesn't have the ability to change its body temperature anyway, I don't think it can actually really spoof the targetting system anyway if the missles do have a infrared loadout. It might be able to use lightning to strike it down, but while in that case it doesn't matter because the missiles are going down either way.

Also can Rukia count me as voting for the xp plan even though I am not voting for it?

As said last night, don't want to change vote because people voted for me while intending to not spend any xp :V

I am also a little surprised that you are this paranoid when I am slowly getting over my own.
Eh, I would not usually be so paranoid but dragon :V

When the only dragon ever mentioned in this quest was described as a star staring down at you and thinking of the best way to eradicate you and dragons are absolutely terrifying in scope of power.

Probably wouldn't actually do anything bad, and might not even notice something of that level, and might even give an interesting result, but still

Also, my vote pretty has sections specifically about avoiding interaction with the mountain, that is a factor people voted for. Perhaps they don't care about that factor as much as they do the other ones, but once people bandwagon me I am hesitant to do anything change my vote to the opposite.

This is also part of why I don't like being the one to make a vote from scratch, because I am a bit unwilling to changes that goes counter to something in the vote once people voted for me because it feels like I am betraying the voters :V

edit: Opps did I respond to a post that was deleted? What do I do in this case, should I delete this post? I have no idea what is the proper etiquette here

  • [X] Plan Strike down from the Heavens:
-[X] The sky is not your domain— it rules the storm and flies faster than you do.
--[X] Prepare a plasma sphere, or more if you are confident in your ability to move with them, or multiple thermal spears if you are not and use halt on it before attacking with them all.
--[X] Use the water against it- Form ice around it's body to drag it down. Keep at it until it has neutralized your ability to do this or you have dragged it down to earth through sheer weight.
--[X] Use the ice thermal Spear to hit it with freeze.
--[X] Keep up fire around its head to blind it
--[X] Use the water from the storm to make blocks of ice in the direction it is flying so that it has to dodge or stop. If it tries to break through the ice, use halt on the ice.
--[X] stay a good distance lower than it, you'd rather not be hit with lightning from the storm if you can help it, and it going closer to the earth only helps you.
--[X] If it starts to build up speed despite all these measures use halt to break that momentum.
--[X] Use ice to try to limit its ability to fly away, you must not let it flee.
--[X] Attack with thermal Spears or Plasma Spheres whenever you get a good oppurtunity. Try to take it down fast.
--[X] Try not to damage the mountain in any way, you don't want to deal with whatever is making it so hot.
---[X] If all else fails call in the air strike, but inform them to not shoot in such a way that a miss could hit the mountain.

    -[X] Halt to Lv 3 (45 EXP)

[x]try and stop the storm. Maybe cool down the air until it runs out of energy?

Thanks for the hugs <3

XP Plan.

[X] EXP Plan Stop Right There!
-[X] Halt to Lv 3 (45 EXP)

Everyone ok with this?

It's packed full of a fuckton of contingencies and alternate plans...

I honestly don't think we can do much better without guessworking every strategy we can think of.

No objections, this looks good.

To fill some more space however, let me do some calculations just for fun.

With its current growth and without counting Milestones, Infinity Edge will have 512 damage at Level 15, as well as a MM of roughly 200.
Taking Crush into account, we would be in a range of
~513-700 x 3 = ~1,539-2,100
damage per hit, with five attacks per turn. If we spend one turn just attacking, this would end up with ~7,695-10,500 damage.

Ouch. We are slowly moving to the big numbers, considering this does not take any Milestones or buffs we find into account.

Edit: Please ignore how I just managed to forget that our MM would be quite a bit lower than 200. It would be around 120... which only really lowers the maximum roll to 1,860 and a full damage turn to a maximum of 9,300.
Those numbers are still pretty big.

By the way, another two things.
First, you kind of forgot our weekly news from Samantha.

Second, I think we are starting to create a pretty good reputation for ourselves.
I mean, think about it. What did people see of us so far?

We showed up -basically- out of nowhere, brought in by Morgan who is well-known and well-liked. Once Karen and Cerys had an agreement, we started catching up on our education and spent a lot of our free time training either our body or our magic.
Some muckups (curse you, Plasma Sphere) aside, we showed that we have access to mighty powerful magic and can (?) use it properly.

Now we are fighting down some of the biggest and the baddest things living on Earth, with more time spent going there than actual battle.

All of this while being thirteen.

Most people do not see much of Cerys from day to day, but they do know she is there and working hard on getting stronger. They also know she has a little Una tagging along, who has no magic and can barely defend herself; basically anyone would excuse some antisocial or wary behaviour with that in mind, so us staying to ourselves will not have any harmful negative consequences.

But the one thing that probably really turned our reputation upwards was actually pretty small. One vote, one line, five hundred words at most.
Without even hesitating, Cerys agreed to help out another group for no real reason. No one would have blamed her for leaving others to their own tasks, but she did it anyway. Without playing it up or expecting someone to thank her; go in, help out, leave.

It shows everyone that even when she does not talk to many people or socialises, she does care.

At least this is how I see it.

Actually, I remembered that.
Samantha is a little busy right now.
You will be getting your news soon-ish though.

And yes, that choice has had long reaching effects.

Which brings me to another question.

Seeing that our growth has already increased due to other means... if we raise our Growth-Affinity, how is this done?

Does every Spell/Ability/whatever get +.1 on its growth multiplier?
Or do only get those that are still below that Affinity's base multiplier an upgrade?

For example, Infinity Edge now scales by x1.3 per level; x1.3 is the baseline of Myth, though.
Upon turning Story into Myth, would the sword then be upgraded to x1.4 or stay at x1.3?

Something like that.
Base human = x1.1 per level.
A growth affinity basically goes Base Human = x1.1 per level + Affinity (.1 Story) = x1.2 per level

So you can have *1.5 per level and go up a growth affinity, it will make it *1.6

This, alongside other benefits of course

Could you elaborate? I do not really get what you mean.
that will take some digging but....
Absolute worst case?

>Power Level
Don't you even get started with this
Also, you are literally arguing with the Creator of the background on how his mechanics work.

I think the response to that is nukes.
Which I don't think the Demons don't know about yet.

You think that stops people on the site?

I mean, it's not a game over, but it's a shits fucked boyo
*Suppressing URGE to make it happen anyway*
it would be awesome

It should be noted that Humanity hasn't had WW3 yet.
Which means humanity still has thousands of Nukes.
It would be interesting.

One member of the Light rolled a Nat100 and Russia also rolled a Nat100 for their economy.

Apart from that it's been pretty meh rolls. It averages out to 40-ish when I remove the 100's

Would we get an Affinity rank-up from defeating that? :V

Anyway, for a somewhat more serious question because I have the feeling it might be important... how good is Daiyu's English?
I mean here.

Base human = x1.1 per level.

Wait, what?
Um... I just checked Morgan's Character Sheet... and her spells all have a growth of x1.2

Which means that she is either not Baseline human, or you messed up.
Seeing that I do not generally assume the latter, I think she is probably some kind of prodigy... I mean, more than we already expected her to be.
