[Mafia] A Murder of Crows

...hmm. You know, I think I just figured out the root of what was bugging me about Terra's plan, which also applies here. When you get down to it, these are holding pattern plans; they don't seek to change the situation, just maintain it in a 'we won't lose/Magpie won't win' state.

I think the idea is basically to maintain a holding pattern until we can kill the Magpie because that's the only possible source of a game end before D8. If we're somehow getting close to D8 with the Magpie still alive then we should start worrying about the Jackdaws and Ravens too, but since they have no way to win early, the only thing that matters (in terms of night phase activity) is how many Shiny Things they have at the natural end of the game - and with the number of thefts in play each night, that could very easily be changed very quickly.

So, brainstorming, what if we just have everyone rob in a loop? (e.g., Cyri robs Itz, Itz robs me, I rob Rayday, etc, then Terra robs Cyri).

The magpie steals first, and while stealing twice, would 100% get robbed this way. Additionally, the magpie would likely have to use one of their thefts in order, in case a non-magpie had a shiny and could confirm the absence of a theft.

This, ostensibly, runs the risk of outing jackdaws in particular (who'd steal last meaning they steal from crows) but the random crow pecking order seems to stop this. I don't *think* it outs ravens in quite the same way, and if everyone else commits, the magpie can't get all 3 shinies, since they'll always be getting robbed near the end of the night and never take all 3.

Am I missing something that creates clear incentive for non-crows to betray here, or some other way this hurts town? Not really committing at this point, but it is a thought.
Yes, this works. It's much stronger night 2, when nobody has a choice to defect, and works better if they didnt see it coming; if they didn't know we planned to do this - and I didnt plan to reveal this plan until day 2 - we can pick up the magpie for certain. Now, though, they can just refrain from stealing from the jackdaws, which isn't bad for us but not as great either.

I forgot we can post during night phases aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Okay, definitely agreeing on stealing from the UM wagon. We're in a pretty bad spot right now, and depending on the outcome of tonight, the game could be over real soon. We probably should work together if anyone else wants a shot at winning. Depending on the steal results, I'd go for an alliance with the ravens. A spokesperson is a good idea if the ravens agree to it, as it's the lowest risk option for them and could potentially help us catch the magpies.
at least I think it's the magpies i keep getting all the birds mixed up

It is magpie, but there's only one of them in the game so not plural.

Embarassingly I never even noticed that until night fell and was blindsided by not having to pick my actions wholly independently.

Clarifications and reminders
If you are stolen from, you will not be informed when in the day it happens. (If, say, a message seems to imply that you got stolen from after your theft attempt, that is not intentional or necessarily accurate).

Roughly 15 hours remain until the end of Night 1.
Please send me a steal message by the end of the night- even if it Steal Nothing. Bookkeeping will be easier if you have a theft logged.

so personally I'm just doing my part for the plan I put forward because uh. No broad support behind any other plan has come up so I don't see a better option here.

Personally I am going along with it but only because I have reservations when it comes to stealing from the four outside the wagon (obviously I can't steal from myself). I think there are several much better choices within the wagon's eleven FMPOV.

And, no. I will not be saying who those better choices are.

Obviously the best choice is to steal from UnderlingMaster.

Yeah, Terra's plan seems the best course of action for now. Organized chaos is our best chance.

There are some additional things to think about at Day.

Quick reminder that N1 ends in an hour, so everyone that hasn't picked a target to steal from yet should do so soon.

Dawn of Day Two
Morning comes, and with it a cacophany of outraged cawing!
Shiny things have been stolen! By who? From whom? It's a mystery!
Clearly, pecking somebody will make this situation better!

The flock adjourns to the crow bar to see if they can prise the case open, and Day Two begins.

Day Two will end naturally at
Hammer is at 10 Players
If you did not recieve a results PM, please message me.

Wiadi had a shiny thing, I stole wiadi's shiny thing, and someone else then filched it.

Which means there's a chance he's the magpie.

Let's be clear here I'm only moving off from an uncounterclaimed raven or jackdaw claim or a compelling explanation of who you stole from.

Wiadi had been giving me 'ehhh' vibes and was in the range I laid out so. Worthy steal target and he did in fact have a shiny by the time it was my turn.

I might have kept my mouth shut for a bit but given I was then robbed I want it clear in advance if people jump to the idea I'm the magpie that I stole it from wiadi.

I'm not even like. Particularly going to be offended if people want to lynch me on someone else's word. But it's critical that where I actually got this shiny is open info, I feel.
