[X] Find and meet Grand Architect; you will find out why she sounds so important
[X] Do more training with Sky and Ana; there ought to be something you can do together

Your classes go by swiftly; working with everyone is much more fun than listening to a teacher in front of the room. But school is school and you are glad once it is time to have lunch and play. A lot of other girls actually wave you goodbye when you take off from the cafeteria, to your first goal of the day.

Your target: Grand Architect.

Whenever anyone mentions her, people are worried and awed and many other things; she has to be important and you want to know why. Who is she?

Actually... where is she? You do not think you saw her before and if she was at the assembly, she did not stand out in any way. Ugh...

In the end, Rico runs over and asks a few other people you come across; they point you towards the place where you first met Strength. So after thanking them, you go running there with Ludger right behind you. The group you find there is... odd. Mostly because all but one girl look exactly the same; they look like girls, but their faces are without expressions and they hold guns ready.

What is more, they form a loose circle around the girl... no, the woman in the center. She has to be at least as old as the Seasons and Strength. Her eyes are on an empty field next to the large building with the power plant and she completely ignores you. So do the weird people standing around, even when Ludger trots over to sniff at one's leg. The only other thing you notice nearby is the big container next to the weird group.

You stand there and watch them for a bit to see what they do, but... even the one girl that looks different just watches the empty ground.

Your sister is already starting to get bored when the girl nods to herself and speaks up. "That should do. No boundaries bind the creative minds. I am Magical Girl Grand Architect!"

She waves the other girls away while you get attentive and watch eagerly; she probably did not see you yet, so maybe you can get to see another adult Magical Girl at work. However, you also take a quick look at her; she looks friendly and... is that a paintbrush?

With your curiousity growing as your eyes go over her almost casual clothes, you almost miss her calling out her spell's name: "Create Building."

While saying it, Grand Architect brandishes her paintbrush and makes a few flowing motions from the container by her side to the empty ground... before it dissolves and the resulting blob quickly moves.

The Magical Girl is already detransformed while her deformed container reaches the place she pointed at, then contorts and forms a weird, faintly glowing spire. You watch eagerly, but notice that the only one who does not seem to be awed by this display is the girl herself.

"...ugh... shield generator number whatever... mark that down, yes? Ugh... stupid Strength, why now of all times? Radar is fine I say, but noooo, we need those ugly things everywhere on top of it all of a sudden. At least let me make some proper power plants..."

You quietly watch her as she continues to grumble while the other people with her check over the "shield generator", whatever that is. Once one of them made some notes on a sheet of paper however, they point your way and she turns to you with a few blinks and an o-shaped mouth. "Oh. Have you been here for long?"

Maybe you should say no and go away right about now? But no, that would be rude. She does not seem to be mean, just weird. And... all the teenagers are weird for one reason or another.

So the two of you nod slowly and Rico lets you speak: "Um... are you Grand Architect?"

You already know the answer with how she transformed just two minutes ago, but you can not really think of anything to say... aside from asking about her magic, but that would be rude again. The other girl's expression quickly turns into a knowing smile, though. "Sure am, just call me Arc. Much shorter. I don't think I've seen you here before?"

Thinking about it, you are pretty sure that you have not seen her, either. Rico takes over while you wonder about that. "Yeah, we're Primordial Sun and Primordial Moon. Nice to meet you!"

"Oh, yes! The two little ones that helped protect my city, now I remember. That's perfect, I wanted to thank you for that anyway... hm, you look pretty familiar, though..."

She happily shakes your hands and just continues to talk. That comment about Kibo, though... "Your city?"

As if she was waiting for you to ask, Arc lets go of you, opens her arms wide and turns around; it is a little funny how energetic she is. "Yes, my city. I built all of this, every house and every bit of tech was made by me. The communicators you use, the beds you sleep in, the synthesisers that make your food... all mine. Neat, huh?"

"It is!"

While your sister humours Arc, you think about what she just said. She made this whole city? All of it? That is... really impressive, with all those things you never even saw before. Her magic is completely different from anything you have seen before.

But something else confuses you a bit... and you push it to Rico so she can put it into her conversation, which she does after a moment of letting Arc finish something about 'her vision'. "Arc? Why did you detransform right away? Can't you work better if you stay transformed?"

This lets the cheerful expression turn sour and you sigh internally; it is good that no one takes it personally when you ask insensitive things...

"Ah, don't worry too much. Just a short transformation time in general, so I'm saving time where I can."

Uh...
And there is another thing you do not know. Arc seems to notice it over your confused expressions, or maybe she was just taking a deep breath before she got going anyway; you are not sure which one.

"So... you know how we can only stay transformed for some arbitrary amount of time at once? I've got a full ten minutes, imagine that! Strength and the Seasons go for hours and days while I've got to keep it down and recuperate for most of that time."

While you listen to the rant, it makes you a bit curious about something else besides why this is the case and how long you can stay transformed: "...what happens if we go past that limit?"

Your question makes Arc pause and give you a measuring look before shrugging. "Oh, so you didn't know? Figures, probably noobs... whatever. Thing is, every girl has that limit. If you didn't hit yours yet, you probably got a decent one. You know if you go past it, too; once you do, you automatically detransform and get a pretty nasty case of fatigue."

Oh. If that is the case, then you really did not have this happen to you yet. Weird... you spent half days flying with Igni before. It is a good thing though; getting really tired and stuff would have been bad on your journey to New York.

But then again, only ten minutes for Arc? That does not seem really fair to you. Who made up those times and why?

"Whatever, I'm out for now anyway. How about you girls tag along for a bit while I do my rounds? The golems are boring to hang out with."

You quickly agree and get going.

Arc is an interesting person to walk around with... although... you sometimes wonder what is going on in her head. She is weird in a way completely different to everyone else. She shows you a few funny things she did for practice and how she makes her golems.

But you have to leave her eventually; there are still other things to do. Not that Arc seemed to mind, she just waved you goodbye and went on to make her rounds through the city.

Time to collect Ana and Sky!

Finding your friends was not hard; you just had to follow the black sludge on the ground... and the people you met readily told you where to find them, but that was definitely not the important part. It turns out they were at the central plaza and used the bright sunlight to play a card game. Well, not with you! It is training time!

Although... you do let them finish whatever they are playing before looming over them menacingly. "Sky, Ana~" "It's time to get stuff done!"

You grin down at where the two of them sit on the ground; yet it only takes a moment for them to smile back and get up. Sky carefully smoothes out her dress as she stands. "Good thing, too. I was loosing."

Ana sticks her tongue out at her and you giggle over the silly sight, then the four... five of you get going. Must not forget Ludger.

But... again, you find the problem of being unable to think of anything useful to train. No one has any ideas, either. Rico and Sky are the only ones with higher ranged spells, but both of those are already plenty strong by themselves. You can show them the basics of how to dodge, but it took you weeks to learn how to do that yourself. And... you are definitely a worse teacher than Soul is. But then again, your friends are starting out better than you did. It is not enough for them to get as good as you are just yet, though.

An hour after you started, the four of you are sitting on the now restored ground again; you and Rico are back to back with Ludger on your sister's lap. Ugh, this is boring. If you had at least an idea what to do? But you can not go around asking for hints again, you do not have that much time today.

"...how about we stop?"
You want to talk back and say no to Ana, but... without any ideas, there is nothing you can do right now. Although... actually...

"Sure, but... one thing first?"

Your friend turns your way with a curious expression while Rico already jumps up and thinks of what else you can do. "Um... sure? What is it?"

Ana did not seem willing to talk about it, but maybe if it is just the four of you? You hope she trusts you that much at least. It might be important. "...can you tell us what your spells do?"

The moment you say "spell", she already grimaces. Bad Eva, that was not a good idea. Sky looks worried, too... but then Ana slowly nods and gets up before helping you. "I... uh... they hurt people. They hurt really really bad."

But why is she blushing now? You would understand if she cried or got sad or angry after saying something like this. Seeing her blush just confuses you both. "Um... Ana?"

"...I puke at people."

She ...huh?
You need a moment to understand -and another to stop Rico from giggling- before you can look at your friend curiously. "So... you cast Spells by puking?"

"...yes."

She looks so flustered about it... it is really, really hard not to laugh. Then Rico gets the image of her puking sunlight at people and you bend over in laughter over the idea.

"H-Hey! Stop laughing!"

You do not. You can not stop yourself. And your sister quickly joins your fun.

It takes you the remaining time with her to stop Ana from giving you the cold shoulder and pouting at you. And a lot of ice cream.

Once it is about time, you leave Ludger with your friends and then have Strength lead you into another building close to the town hall; the first thing you notice is the light buzzing of electricity. Your eyes wander through the room and you find Winter, the Season tapping away at some kind of device that makes text appear on the screen in front of her. She pays you no mind and works on, only a faint nod indicating that she even noticed you.

So that is what she does? You decide it is not important right now, seeing that Strength does not seem to pay her any mind in return. Besides, you will talk to big sister now! It is just a short walk further down a hallway and the next room you enter is... smaller. There is a big screen on the wall, right above another workstation like the one Winter was at.

But why does Strength look so impish right now? She even pulls two chairs over to the side before pointing at a... a camera on top of the screen? "Do you mind sitting here at the side so she can't see you for a bit? I want to make it a surprise."

Oh... yes, you like that. So does Rico, so you both nod and quickly climb onto the chairs while Strength starts tapping away.

You have a hard time stopping yourself and your twin from bouncing up and down now; why does this take so long?

But before your internal complaints can go on, the faintly glowing screen shows static for a moment before... showing Bianca! A droopy Bianca with how her eyes are only half open, but Bianca nonetheless! She wears her usual suit and her voice is as cold as you remember when she greets Strength:

"Tachibana."
"Vescovi."

Both of them give each other blank looks over the calm greeting... then Strength breaks into a weird grin and leans back. "Having a nice day?"

"..."
Bianca almost opens her mouth to respond, but ends up staying quiet... but you want to talk to her, too! How long will it take?! Hurry up!

Strength just rolls her eyes and sighs. "Just as usual. Let's see if I can't change that look into something friendlier. See, I even brought a present for you."

Oh! Now? No, she holds up a hand to stop you... and your big sister just looks confused, with both eyebrows raised and a mocking tone in her voice. "Oh? Give it your best shot, then."

Only for Strength to giggle and motion you over to her side. It does not even take any discussion on your end, you just explode out of your seats and bounce over to sit on Strength's lap. Bianca's face when she sees you is... heh. You never saw her that baffled, with her mouth open a little bit and... is that a tear in her eye?

""Big sis!""

Your sister is leaning forward while Strength laughs outright and keeps a hold of you so you do not fall off. "Hehe, see? Told you I'd make it. The girls came in from New York just two days ago."

If she hears what Strength says, Bianca does not show it; she blinks rapidly and even shakes a little bit before sighing and breaking into a bright smile. "It's good to see you two safe."

Hearing big sister again... you want to hug her... but that has to wait until you actually meet her in person. Aww...

"But before I leave you three, there's some stuff I need to talk to you about, Vescovi."

The older girl is focussed on Bianca again, who slowly nods and leans back into her chair. "I don't mind... is this about the attack on Kibo?"

You have the faint feeling that you should be quiet and just listen, so you do for now. Maybe you can learn how adults talk to each other from this?

Strength just nods in return and frowns at your sister. "Yes. How come you didn't know about it ahead of time? I thought everyone's working together these days?"

Bianca sighs before dragging up and showing you a small stack of papers with an unamused smile. "They are, but I'm not their queen. Large operations like this one are usually discussed by the ministries, but... our 'allies' decided that asking forgiveness would be easier than asking permission. They didn't mention the Magical Girl they are using at all, either. I only know about her through my own sources... and those only produced results yesterday."

"...just what kind of crappy sources do you have?"

Your sister shrugs at the rude question and leans aside to look at something outside of the screen... then a stranger's voice speaks up from where you can not see them: "I have you know that I'm the best source you will find anywhere. I know everything that happens on Earth."

Who is that? You can see the same question on Strength's face, but she does not ask. Instead, she snorts and waves dismissively. "Yeah, sure. Everything. If you know everything, mind telling me what kind of panties I'm wearing right now?"

There is a momentary silence while Bianca groans and buries her head in her hands... and then the voice answers with a giggle: "Considering the twins are listening, I will just say that you're a naughty girl."

More silence follows that, with Strength just looking a little annoyed and a bit smug while your sister slowly breathes in and out. That was a weird question... and why is she naughty? You consider asking, but your sister is obviously unhappy with the topic; so you change it by asking another question: "Big sis? Who is that? Is she your friend?"

Bright laughter from the stranger rings over in response, but at least your sister looks at you again. "I have no idea if she can be called a friend... but we can leave introductions for another time. She won't leave me alone anytime soon, anyway."

"How hurtful, Bianca! I thought what we had was special!"
Now the girl you are sitting on laughs openly at the minute frown on your sister's face... and you giggle a little bit, too. You do not really understand what she means, but the face is funny.

"Nah, whatever. I think I like her. Back to where we were, the attack? Anything you can tell me?"

A few seconds pass before Bianca starts browsing through the report in her hand and shaking her head slowly. "The problem is that the Chinese were always the least forthcoming. They only gave me the bare necessities and nothing on their future plans. Aside from that, my sources-", where she gives a glare to the person you can not see, "-do not give me much additional data at the moment."

And a moment later, the voice answers again: "Don't sweat it. The main thing you have to know is that White Glory is trusworthy and that the four girls will be alright with what Kibo gathered already."

"Four girls? Wait... I'm missing something here"

"...huh. Okay, now I'm curious how you know that."
After saying this, Strength responds to Bianca's inquisitive gaze by squeezing the two of you for a moment. "These two volunteered to free White Glory, together with two other girls."

Aaaand there goes Bianca's expression. Now she frowns at all of you with this special 'You did not just say that' look. But while she still regards you all in judgemental silence to make you feel bad, the other miss speaks up with mirth in her voice: "Heh, that's for you to find out. Maybe I pay you a visit sometime soon, who knows?"

This is so weird when you can not even see her... but Bianca just schools her face into a neutral expression again and shows her empty hands. "Putting that aside for now, I doubt I can give you more than you already have. I will dig around a little to see if anything else comes up, though. Was there anything else you needed?"

Seconds pass, then a full minute... but in the end, Strength shakes her head and shifts you aside before shimmying out of the chair. "Not right now, no."

"Good. One thing, though."

She stops before she can get to turn around and leave the room. Then her eyes shift back to your sister, who looks very serious all of a sudden. "Considering everything that is happening, we will forward the plan sooner. How long will it take you to mobilise the city?"

"Wait, we're doing that now? What's going on?"

You have no idea what they are talking about and they will probably not tell you right now. Even though you want to know... but Bianca just offers a weak smile and shrugs. "Everything is going on. I will give you the details later. So?"

"...two weeks, give or take. I have to talk to Arc and the Seasons first."

"Fair enough. Thank you."

It is only faint, but you can hear the trace of genuine gratefulness in your sister's voice; she never has that when she does not feel really strong about something. Whatever Strength is helping her with, it must be important. The Magical Girl probably did not notice it though... but she grins back nonetheless. "You're welcome... and now I'm leaving you three."

"Same for me", Bianca's friend notes from the other side while Strength walks out the door with a short look back.
"I'll be in the front."

""'Kay!""

Then you suddenly have an idea who that friend might be. You turn back to your sister with bright eyes. "Was that Nightmare Child?"

But your big sister just blinks at you for a moment and turns her head. Then she shakes it. "No, she wasn't. How did you get that idea?"

"Uh... Ana said that she is your friend, so I just thought that might be her..."

Rico nods and then points at your sister with a spark of curiousity. "And why didn't you tell us she's your friend?"

Bianca regards you both for a moment before sighing and leaning back a bit further. "I'm sorry. Fabienne is... someone I trust. And you're right, she is probably the closest I have to a friend. But anyone besides us knowing that we work together is one too many. That kind of information can destroy everything if it gets out too early."

You can kind of understand that, even though it was still a bit mean. But Bianca said sorry for not telling you, so it is fine now. ""Okay.""

Then Rico perks up and you slump a little at the other thing you just remembered. "...how is mommy?"

This question makes your sister grimace a little, but she quickly stops herself... probably to not make you feel bad. "She's fine thanks to you two. At least physically. Mother misses you a lot."

Oh... you did so many things the last few months that you never really thought about it. There was always something to do, but right now... you want your mommy and big sister. When can all of you be together again?

"We miss her, too. We missed you, too."
Rico nods along with your words and Bianca offers you another smile. "I missed you, too. She will be happy to hear that you're safe."

After that, the three of you start talking about what happened since you had to run away from Brave Heart. Your sister scolds you for going to Yggdrasil even when she told you not to and you apologise; you tell her about all the nice people you met on the way and Bianca seems happy with just listening to you as you talk.

However, you can see her expression grow darker over time; just this tiny little bit, a single wrinkle in her brow to hint at a suppressed frown. There is some weird tension to her and you can not say why. Does it have to do with what you told her?

In the end, you decide to make Rico ask when you take another short break from speaking. "Big sis? Is something wrong?"

There is a moment of confusion, but then the wrinkle vanishes without a trace. You saw it anyway and frown at your big sister. You want to be there for her, too. It is okay to talk to your family, right? "You can always talk to us, you know? We don't want you to be sad."

Rico wants to press, but you make her stay quiet. Bianca never talks about such things, but maybe... maybe this time you can get her to tell you what is on her mind. You wait for her to speak, quietly fiddling with your skirt and tracing over the seams for a while. When your sister answers, she is quiet: "Can I ask you a question?"

That is weird; what does she want to ask you? Especially when you just told her she can tell you anything?
"Of course?"

You are sure this is the heaviest sigh you ever heard of Bianca; when she opens her eyes to look at you again, she is serious. "If you could save thousands by sacrificing a dozen, would you do it?"

...what?

.....what?

""What?""

Incredulous stares meet your sister's calm gaze; why is she asking you something like that? Why do you have to hurt anyone? Her expression does not change much, though... but she does not look happy, not at all. "If there is someone whose very existence will lead to the death of a thousand other people. If that person doomed them by merely existing... do you think it is acceptable to take this one person's life, in order to protect all the others?"

Your thoughts race, and both of you can feel your hearts beat heavily. What do you say to that? Everyone deserves a chance, yes... but in this kind of situation? Can you really still say it?

Every life is precious, but...

[X] Do your best to change the situation so you won't have to kill.
-[X] Sometimes you fall short despite your best. Try to learn from that and do better.

You sit quiet for a while, thoughts passing back and forth while your sister waits patiently. The frown stays, though; she is serious about this.

Answering this kind of question is not easy; how could you decide to hurt someone so others do not get hurt? How could you decide to just let events pass and do nothing? No, the answer you find for yourself is different. Eva is better at talking about this kind of thing, so you leave it to her... however, both of you return Bianca's look calmly to show you are serious as well.

"We... we would refuse to kill that one person. And we would refuse to let the thousand die. If something like this happens... we rather want to try to save everyone anyway, to change the situation so no one needs to die."

Bianca does not yet say anything; she just frowns a little at your words and waits for if you have to say anything else... so after a moment of thought, Eva adds one more thing: "Even if we fall short at times... the best we can do is to try and learn from it to do better."

No matter what happens, you will always seek for the best possible ending. It is a good answer is what you think... and going from that weak smile on Bianca's face, she agrees with you both.

When she speaks, however, something in her voice makes you shiver: "It's good to see you're still as compassionate as you used to be... maybe even more, now that you're starting to see the world and grow up."

This is... something about this is wrong. You can not tell what or why, but you know that much. Big sister is off right now... you can see it on her face, she did want to say more. But pressing her again might go too far.

Even though you want to know what she thinks, you change the topic; Bianca will tell you eventually, you are sure of that.

"Oh, right! Big sis, we're dreaming of people!"

That sounds weird...

You give Eva a stink eye and start explaining to your confused sister: "I mean, not like normal dreams. We can see people we never met and know their names and stuff. And... uh... we had a dream about the Unified Light, too."

This gets her to sit a bit more straight while Eva takes over for you, with a finger lying on her lip. "It was really weird... and we did not find out all that much, just that there are a lot of interesting races out there. And a Magical Girl was fighting for the Unified Dark... do you know anything about her?"

...With the way Bianca frowns, she does. With the way she shakes her head, you are now confused. "I... I know about that girl... but I don't want to talk about it."

Oh.
....just how do you make it to bring up uncomfortable topics even with Bianca?

"That's okay", you quickly assure her before this gets any worse. "There were some other things, too... uh... there was this one girl... um... I think people treat her as a goddess?"

Thankfully for your fluttering nerves, Bianca stops looking unhappy and gets back to her usual half-blank-half-smile when she ponders your words. "Yes, that one was probably Forsaken God. She's gathering the scattered tribes in Africa into a cohesive nation at the moment."

Ohhh, Bianca knows her! Just like you thought, the distraction worked perfectly and you learned something new. Maybe you can get to meet that girl later...

But those thoughts are for later; right now, you want to talk more to your big sister.

It is a little sad when you have to say goodbye, but Bianca needs to do some more paperwork and has to go. You also have a meeting with Ana, Sky, Strength, and the Seasons, this time in a smaller side room of the town hall.

The talking goes on for a while as everyone discusses viable strategies and you are given a layout of the area as well as whatever data you got about important threats nearby. From what White Glory relayed, another Magical Girl and someone Strength calls a "Practitioner" are in the area; the latter seems to be a normal human that can use magic.

You are a bit concerned about those two, but it is ultimately no use to fret about them right now. When the meeting ends and you decided on a plan together, all of you go to sleep after a quick dinner.

Tomorrow will be an important day.

Monsters Kill Men
[X] Bianca

You are Bianca Vescovi, UES Minister of Defense. Not that you actively defend anything at this very moment. You are just walking, down the tunnel and far away from Berlin. It feels as if your own execution is awaiting at the end of this stroll. Even though you know that of all the people in the world, you are the least likely to die.

Cold disgust churns in your guts, but your heart beats calmly as you refuse to acknowledge your distress. Just as always.

The words you were told earlier this day continue to echo through your mind, making what is about to happen all the more bitter.

"Even if we fall short at times... the best we can do is to try and learn from it to do better."

That was what your sister said. Eva's words, which are also Rico's words.

Maybe they are better than me...

Not that you would know; it is probably just them being naive though... because you have tried, oh have you tried. Yet you can not do any better than this, the purpose of your secret journey.

Information runs through your mind as you wander the barely illuminated, foul-smelling corridors; it is both a necessity and a distraction. All the details Gaia gave you once you asked her, this being the most clear sign she wanted you to do this. Gaia is not forthcoming with information she thinks you do not need.

Gaia, Will of the Earth. The personification of your very planet, its eternal mind and humanity's cultivator. Also your confidant these days, one of the few you can trust.

How nice it would have been if she stopped you, but she did not. Now... now you reached the end of that tunnel and find yourself in a large dome that is supposed to hold those who make it here for a while. A shelter, empty like so many others. Of course it is, there is no need to flee the city after all.

This makes it the perfect spot for you.

Yet you stand there and look at the bare wall right ahead, pondering. You did not do anything just yet... if you just turned around, no one would ever know. You could just go back... but no. This is not acceptable. You must not accept this kind of reasoning.

You recall your master's teachings; take deep breaths, calm your nerves and stay determined. For as long as you put your will to it, there is nothing you can not do.

And it is true. Nary a thing is beyond your capability these days. Aside from actually being able to help the world without a relapse, of course.

You shudder, unwilling to do it even as your mind pushes against itself. It has been five years, you went for such a long time without it... but you have no hope that things will change otherwise. Abyss Knight is moving for Africa to recruit Forsaken God. No matter how this turns out, it will lead to thousands of dead civilians and the people there disinclined to work with outsiders. You can see the consequences clearly.

And the girl herself? You gave her the choice, one way or another. Time and time again you made an effort to contact her and bring her to stop.

She never listened.

I'm sorry.

The words ring hollow in your own mind, almost as empty as you feel. But you get yourself together; through you rushes the same determination that makes you able to get out of bed instead of sleeping the day away. The desire to go back and hide under your covers is swept away and you take one last, deep breath.

"...Without fear, I stride forward into the future... for I..."

You cut yourself off and shudder again, the pressure on your chest making you almost choke and blink away tears. It takes a few seconds until you get your act together, another surge of determination making your heart slow down to normal levels once more.

"Without fear, I stride forward into the future, for I am Magical Girl Primeval Earth!"

It comes; the moment you call out the name, your magic explodes from deep within your core. Light shines brightly and dances over your skin, forming a thin yet powerful armour. A familiar weight, your Equaliser, materialises in your hand; the heavy waraxe reforms after years of disuse, looking just like the last time you saw it.

You barely manage to stop your pulsing magic from tearing up the ground and walls near to you, the power of your presence alone resting heavily on everything.

"Cast away your trepidation; it won't help you on the battlefield. Never forget your fear, for it will save your life... but do not let it make you hesitate."

Master's words ring true even after all those years. She taught you well, well enough to survive on the battlefields you saw. So you do as once instructed and cast away your hesitation entirely. It was decided when you spoke the words, there is no going back now.

How much you want to go back...

Your hands clench tighter around the handle of your weapon for a moment as you concentrate. Even when the bitterness never really leaves, you are calm now. Calm and ready. Your mind wanders to dimensions nearby, worlds you once walked upon. There is an empty one neither side wanted to use due to how close it is to Earth.

"Absolute Movement."

With your target set, you quickly let magic open up the path and leap to the other side, easily entering a world that has no noticeable dominant species. It is night here, an unfamiliar moon shining above and your light illuminating the ground some more.

Your next target is given directly by Gaia. She hums in the back of your mind as you see the image clearly before you; a ship gliding on the ocean, more modern-looking than even those you saw in Japan and Australia.

You cast your spell again and hover atop the sea but a moment later, your magic singing over being used again. Looking around, you find yourself within a dark cloud; water gathers on the metal of your suit, quickly forming a glistening sheen. A surge of lightning runs past you without effect.

They have not seen you yet, even though they are below you. You dimmed the light you emanate as far as is possible.

As you hover up above, you recall your sisters' words again. To make it so no one has to die.

It is impossible for you... and even if it is not for them, you refuse even the chance of them getting hurt for being too young to know better.

But maybe... maybe you need not end all four of them. Would... would it be enough to take just one?

Your thoughts race in tandem with your heavily beating heart; this time you ignore it, quickly going through what you know. If there is a chance, maybe...

It would compromise my OpSec, but chances of trouble continuing without Abyss Knight to muscle through minor obstacles are... actually small.

You know for a fact that of her three companions, only Iron Memento has any noticeable active combat potential. Mirror Memento and Eye of Truth are defensive and supportive respectively. In fact, the latter will not die unless you kill her slime as well, so you can cull their numbers and... it might just work.

So you stop hovering and go into free fall, taking up speed and rushing towards the vessel now sailing in the distance.

Your eyesight is marvelous, so you see the first person that sees you clearly in return; Eye of Truth, standing alone and in a free space on the rear. She freezes the moment she notices you, your presence weighing heavy and telling her just what has come.

You quickly halt your charge in front of her and swing with moderated strength, making sure not to hit the slime by her side.

But even with how careful you are, your strike throws the girl overboard with a heavy crunch. The shockwave dents nearby metal and a faint mist of red sprinkles your armour; Eye of Truth died before she could even scream.

No reaction to your appearance so far, even though Abyss Knight can definitely sense your presence. You ignore the writhing and sizzling slime as you enter the ship proper, moving along to the words Gaia whispers into the back of your mind. A turn right, another left and down the hallway... did she make the Mementos go elsewhere?

No, she did not; at least not Iron Memento, as you walk into her just at the next intersection. Your presence leaves her standing frozen, though.

Your clawed hand grasps around the next cabin door and pulls it open. Abyss Knight inside... freezes up mid-step, just like the girl behind you; though she seemed to have expected you from how she stands ready.

Thankfully, the mask will make it so you do not have to see her eyes in her final moment. Walking up, you bring around the Equaliser in another moderated swing.

The girl is taller than you and looks more imposing... yet she is catapulted into the wall to her right like a ragdoll with the force of a train hitting her side... and remains unharmed. Dark light flickers over her whole body before breaking away. Huh.

You can feel the impact of a blade against your back; liver, neck, upper arm, spine and even your knee it hits in a flurry of strikes... but your magic easily catches each one and makes it meaningless. Then it lashes out, shattering the offending weapon.

You feel the opportunity to get a strike in on the girl behind you, but she is not your target. She shall stay alive.

The girl before you is climbing to her feet... but you need not let her see how futile this is. Her mask was broken from the impact and her eyes... are wide in fear. So much for getting out of this without another face to come back to your mind's eye at night.

You idly wonder if she realises that this is exactly how many of her past victims had looked at her. Probably not, all things considered.

The thought does not soothe you much as you bring the Equaliser around one last time.

The light does not return and your Equaliser breaks through. Abyss Knight's armour shatters into pieces and her body is flung into the other wall. You hear cloth tearing, flesh ripping, and bones breaking. Blood gently flows down her broken side.

This time, she remains lying in the rubble and you can tell that she will not get back up.

The deed is done.

You stand to look upon yet another victim for a moment longer, then you turn and close your eyes for a few steps. Iron Memento watches you with visible fear, gripping the shards of her broken blades as you walk past her. A shake of your head is the only message you give her. No, you're not next.

You wander down the corridor you came from and turn the first corner you find, focussing on your target location and casting your spell yet again. "Absolute Movement."

Everything around you changes once more, the untouched meadow returning a dozen metres below; the ship is gone, just as sudden as it arrived in your field of view before.

You are of half a mind to continue and make the last jump, but... it looks so inviting. Lowering the Equaliser until it just hangs by your side, you hover down and lie on the ground, setting the weapon aside for good. Looking up at the pale sky reveals but a few clouds and an unfamiliar night sky.

It feels... comfy. To lie here and be miserable about what you just did.

It was just as easy as you remember it being.

Your eyes start burning and tears roll down your cheeks before long. A silent trail that you do not feel ready of stopping just yet. Gaia is covering for you back at home, so no one will notice if you are absent a few minutes longer.

Some part of you wonders how Fabienne is holding up on her assignment...

. . .
Line Break Recognised
. . .

Another huddle of black-furred beasts crumbles under your Greater Zombies; they are few and weak, little more than fodder to your stronger summons.

You are Fabienne Germain; Magical Girl, wanderer, and Special Operative. In this very moment however, you are but Nightmare Child. With the dead screaming in the back of your head and magic pulsing through every fibre of your body, you watch quietly how the battle progresses... and lament your lack of flight yet again; it would be so much easier to keep an overview from the sky.

Not that you need it these days, really. 'Summon lots of fodder and drown the target in it' is a viable strategy for you. Unfortunately, it is not at all subtle, let alone efficient.

Your current target is a summoner just like you... but still different. You did not get to see her just yet, but her summons are far fewer in number; the actual amount varies, but you guess the number of creatures she does create in five second is not beyond five thousand. You call upon at least two hundred thousand in the same time, probably more.

She started out with a sizable army to travel with before you crashed into her... Demon of War wiped most of that away, yet did not kill the girl herself. Curious.

She does little else so far as you close in, easily traversing another hill while a nearly unending tide of zombies marches by your side, behind and ahead of you.

There was a time where it was but a dozen Zombie Nightmares, all those years ago. It feels ridiculous now, just like it always does when you fight these days.

You never enjoyed the fight, obviously. At first you just wanted to have a purpose to guard your mind from the constant screams. Then you wanted this hell on Earth you were dropped into to stop. And when it stopped... you felt so empty. Your sole purpose taken away.

Now however, you have a new task. A better task. A superior to trust unconditionally. And, most of all, a mission.

Whoever the girl ahead of you is, she is an enemy to the coming peace. Her creatures are vicious and throw themselves at your horde with abandon, always slaughtering more than their own number.

But those are only Zombie Nightmares; what do a few thousand of those mean to the tens of thousand coming after them, or the ten thousand Greater Zombies distributed through the army? Her griffins are crushed out of the air by your magic, the only real resistance she put up so far. Yet, the more of them fall, the faster they die.

Your spearhead breaks at last, but you do not even bother creating more; what you have now will suffice.

Under your light, the hills evaporate and all flora vanishes where the Demon of War does its gruesome work. Another wave writhes out of the shadows cast by the sinking sun right in front of you, but the zombies tear through it to open a path for you in seconds.

This is when you see her clearly for the first time, standing atop the next hill but a few dozen metres away.

Your grasp around your weapon tightens; the trusted scythe that remains by your side no matter what... it is time to take to the fighting yourself.

Your target stopped running. Her glowing red eyes try to glare, yet the ashen skin on her face is pulled taut in anger, muscles working despite her best effort to not show fear to you. She might as well not have tried; you have seen it so often that barely anyone can hide this particular emotion from you.

There is a quiet serenity; battle around you has ceased for but an instant as you look upon each other.

"Your name?"

Your words are soft as usual; the times where classmates bullied you for being soft-spoken are long since over, though... they were replaced with everyone being creeped out by your tone and what you stood for.

To her credit, the woman in front of you does not falter. She stands strong, only the slight shaking in her whole body indicating her actual feelings. Someone who can withstand your presence like that... curious.

"Grey Phantasm. Why are you here?"

Her voice is as strong, a formidable will to survive burning within her eyes. You stride up the hill while your respective summons continue slaughtering each other. As long as she does not bring her spawn into her own fight, neither will you.

Not that you need to. "I'm not here to talk. It's sad we will never get the chance to get acquainted, though..."

Something about how she stands there calls out to you. A woman refusing to back down even from certain death... "I'm sorry."

Another moment passes in silence, even the screaming grows weaker momentarily. Magical Girl Grey Phantasm looks at you with forced calm, a faint smirk on her face. "Do your worst. I'm not afraid of you."

Liar.

You respect people that can overcome their fear. If only they would not lie about it. "Very well. I hope that you have more luck in the next life. For you... this is the End of the Line!"

Eldritch power explodes from your fingertips and tints your Dream Executioner green. You held it close to the ground readily, now a single smooth motion brings it around.

The blade passes through her center without even slowing, her surprised expression frozen in death that came instantly. Both halves fall and hit the ground while you are already turning around; the carnage is not something you like to see. A bit of blood drips from the edge of your weapon and more soon begins to stain the ground by your feet.

But that does not matter much, seeing that it will all be gone the next time you detransform. No, your eyes are on the the writhing creatures; they did not die, only your zombies are bringing them low now.

Some part of you is... sad at the sight. As ridiculous as it sounds, you had been hoping for another summoner to actually challenge you. Just like Spring had, with her great beasts fighting back the horde you unleashed so many years ago. With Winter darting through your zombies unseen to duel you, Summer and Autumn crushing your creatures with abandon.

That was the last time you actually had to fight with everything you had. Some distant part of you misses the sensation.

But then again, the war ended and now your purpose is an entirely different one. Now you aid Bianca, to make sure any element that would threaten her new era is eradicated. A task only you can fulfill.

Screams continue filling your head as you regard the trampled fields before and behind you. Large swathes devoid of life where the Demon of War raged, a small sea of zombies rounding up the last few opposing summons... you are glad there was no one here to see this. Killing is not fun. For Bianca however, you will do it.

Although... now that your assignment here is over... maybe you will get another break? Strength... Kaede did offer you to stay a bit longer during your last visit. Taking a vacation sounds nice right now.

You indulge such fantasies for a bit longer, until the last creature is dead and has turned into another of yours; the zombies return to an orderly formation on the unspoken order, waiting for your command. But a weak smile is all you have for them.

Their purpose is done... and so many soldiers are not needed anymore. You raise your scythe as you begin to speak the words, weaving spells together with practiced motions of your weapon. "Demon of War: Genocide Shift."

Unnatural power flows through your veins, your very being already filled with stolen life force from the beasts you killed today. Now that the battle is over, the shadows dancing over your form disperse slowly; a green echo quietly sinking into the surrounding ground. You took the life force from this place... and now it returned to where it belongs. These hills will bloom again in due time.

As for yourself... you do not turn to look at your fallen foe; you already made that mistake too often. Your legs start moving slowly, your transformation fading away quietly.

The dead are but murmuring now, barely whispers against your mind. The peaceful silence is nice.

Mayhaps... you really should ask Bianca about an extended break.

With heavy breathing, you stand before the monster that destroyed your home. Your name is Mary Coburn and you can feel the tendrils of fear grasp your heart.

A dragon. A freaking, fucking dragon came to lay waste to the city.

Your wings flap tiredly, feeling as if you fought for days even though it might have been just hours. The sun is descending is what you notice from the growing shadows below.

It struck at noon, bearing down on the other side of the city. When you reached the place, they were already dead. Everyone, just bloody corpses torn to shreds by the uncaring monstrosity. Others joined the fight by your side, but each and everyone was struck down by hits you nimbly danced around, helpless to watch. Your Soulsword produced nary a scratch on its thick hide.

And the monster realised this as well. It just gives you fleeting glances while circling the city, swatting after you with its tail once in a while as it hangs above the battered Ruin sisters. "I had it with you! Die!"

Her broken body is tossed through half a dozen crumbling buildings before it comes to rest. You still hope against all odds that she will stand when the dust settles... but not this time. Purple lies still, arms and legs twisted and bent. Her armour dissolves and leaves behind a mangled corpse.

It is only you now, you and the monster. You want to flee, to run away as fast as you can... but where would you go? The Magical Girl ruling further to the west would be your only choice, but... would she welcome you after all the clashes her people had with Yggdrasil?

No, you refuse this. Not again, you will not slowly wither and starve away. If you have to die today, you gladly take that over the creeping hunger.

...it is staring up at you. Waiting. Ever more monsters crawl forth from its ichorate skin, the dragon carefully sizing you up as its useless wings flap. You cut the membranes expertly, there is no way it can get up into the sky.

And then your friends are there, carefully stopping next to you. Igni takes her distance while Dragon looks down with a frown. "What's going on here?! We've been gone for a day at most!"

Your throat is too dry to respond; you would not know what to say anyway, so you just shake your head and look at the monsters below you with growing fear. Just the three of you... "...e-everyone's... I'm..."

"No survivors?"
You shake your head and force the tears away; Igni just said what you already knew, but it hurts so much to know the girls you talked to and laughed with just a few hours ago are... are all...

"Alright..."

Dragon sounds solemn. When you shake off your bout and look at her, you find her eyes narrowed at the growing horde below. "This has gone on for long enough."

Fire gathers around her and... for the first time, you notice her scales glistening; magic gently slides all around her, a layer of power you never saw before. Heat gathers around her and you slide back from the other girl.

"This is your END. Flaming Hell!"

A sphere of bright flames gathers in front of her and, with a scream, she unleashes the flames on the city below, engulfing the charging horde.

It devastates everything in this part of the city, melting steel beams and concrete where it hits. The incoming horde burns away in an instant... except for the dragon. You only see it when it is already right in front of your friend, having jumped this far up despite its now charred flesh... but she only smirks and opens her arms cockily.

(Avatar of the End: +6000 Base Damage, -4500 Long Jump +36000 Apocalypse Incarnate, +45000 Superslayer, no dice, +400 Hostile Myth Effect = 82,900 Total Damage

Ragnarök: Immune to damage Superslayer

81,829 Total End Damage

Dragon Maid Health: 4,000 - 81,829 = -77,829)

Only for her expression to turn into shock when its maw breaks right through the layer of magic, crushing her lower body entirely and pulling her along as the dragon rushes past.

You can only whimper, not having the energy to scream again. Igni hovers in shock for but a moment, turning to face where the monster is landing. You can feel it, the fire encasing her burning ever hotter and creating steam all around her. She flaps her wings again and utters the ugly child of a growl and a screech while swords begin to form behind her. One, a dozen, a hundred, thousands hover as she tips her own blade forward.

"I-Iron Cascade!!"

A hiccup interrupts the spell for a moment longer... but then the swords take off and rush this monstrosity; where they were before, more form and follow their brethren. An unending tide of steel.

(Iron Cascade: +82500 Base Damage, +10505 dice, +82500 Ray, +82500 Ray, +82500 Ray, +82500 Ray, +82500 Ray, +500 Hostile Legend Effect = 506,005 Total Damage

21,421 Final End Damage

Avatar of the End Health: 8,129 - 21,421 = -13,292)

You watch in awed silence; it is a new spell she made just a few days back, but a powerful one nonetheless. Everything that was not yet destroyed crumbles under the onslaught of blades and when it ends, the whole district is littered with swords stuck in the ground on every free bit of space.

And in the center lies the dragon, motionless. It was impaled by thousands of blades, the black of its scales barely visible below the ocean of metal.

It lies motionless; no new monsters crawl forth from its body and it does not regenerate again. Tension leaves your body with the breath you have been holding and you sink to the cleared ground, quickly landing at the first free space you find. A rush of air behind you shows that Igni followed and detransformed nearby. You quickly turn towards your fellow and jump into her arms with a sob.

With how her own body is shaking, you know you are not the only one crying.

Your home is gone. Everyone... everyone is dead.

Neither of you speaks for a long while as you embrace each other and cry.

Now that you are once again Bianca Vescovi and made your way back to your office, you find it empty. Not that it actually is, Gaia just can not be bothered to actually manifest her avatar all the time. She is there, though... granted, she is everywhere at the same time, but you can tell she has her gaze on this place in particular.

"Done. Did anything happen?"

You say nothing else and, going by the soft hum she responds with, Gaia noticed your mood. She only gives you a quick response before leaving you alone to your thoughts: "Nothing I did not expect to happen. Thank you, Bianca."

Nothing she did not expect... or nothing she did not make happen that way?

Your idle thought only brings you a faint giggle and nothing else. Sighing, you get back to work. It is still a few hours before you can go back home.

At least the work will help you ignore the bitter cold in your chest.

Jailbreak - PRIMORDIAL Plan
Though it is nighttime, the training grounds are filled with bright light of the midday sun, as well as the gentle radiance of the moon. It is pierced by weird beams of dark, almost not-light, launched at the stone blocks set up as the targets.

(Baleful Eclipse: +200 Base Damage, +50 Stationary Target, no dice = 250 Total Damage
Practice Block: 1000 Base Resilience, -750 Juggernaut, no dice = 250 Damage Reduction

Attack Ineffective!)

Though nothing comes of it, the sources of the radiance and the not-light, two magical girls, keep launching it at the blocks. Without exchanging words or even glances, they move closer and further to each other, aiming at one block and at two adjacent ones in turn. Sometimes, their dance ends with a burst of the dark not-light, and at times, nothing at all happens. And at all times, their lips don't stop moving, whispering one phrase over and over again. Then, suddenly, both of them turn to launch the not-light at two different targets.
Did it really work?
They pause momentarily, before rising into air in sharp angles taking them to the opposite sides of the line of stone blocks. Moving in synchronicity, they aim at the stone blocks at the opposite sides of the line, before chanting their spell in full voice for once: ""Baleful Eclipse!""

(Baleful Eclipse: +200 Base Damage, +50 Stationary Target, -150 Partial Eclipse, no dice = 100 Total Damage
Practice Block: 1000 Base Resilience, -750 Juggernaut, no dice = 250 Damage Reduction

Attack Ineffective!

Practice Block: 1000 Base Resilience, -750 Juggernaut, no dice = 250 Damage Reduction

Attack Ineffective!)

We did it! Wediditwediditwedidit!
Just as before, the attack isn't doing anything. And yet, the radiant girls launch themselves at each other to embrace, laughing at the success well earned. They land on the ground, before walking towards the exit. Previously unnoticed, a small dog laying on a patch of grass rises and runs to them. They stop to pet it gently, before pausing once again.
Are we really doing this, Rico. Yes, we need to know.
Frowning, the moonlight-girl speaks to the dog: "Ludger, can you please help us..."
"Woof!" was the reply of a tail-wagging corgi.
"Ludger, it is important. Now, I know you'll never do it of your own will, but please, just this once, bite me and Rico," the girl continued, and the corgi whined and shook his head, prompting the two girls to speak in unison: "Ludger, please? Don't worry, we'll heal!"

Hesitantly, unwillingly, the corgi nods once, then snaps his teeth at the hands the twins extended to him:

(Leviathan Bite: 400 Base Damage, -300 Biting The Hand That Feeds Him, +300 Loyalty Beyond Reproach, +55 Dice, +220 Layer of Sunlight = 675 Total Damage

Primordial Sun: 105 Base Resilience, +1964 Dice, +5802 Veil of the Solar Goddess, -4456 Juggernaut = 3415 Damage Reduction

Primordial Moon: 14526 No-Sell Threshold

Veil of the Lunar Goddess, girl)

Despite knowing how his bite was capable of crushing a giant living tree, everyone involved is surprised to see that the teeth slide off the hands without doing the slightest harm. Though the girls know that their Faithful Guardian did his best, what they felt never transitioned past what they'd call playful nips.
Rico? Eva? We do need to try...
The girls placate the despondent Ludger with hugs, before standing and stepping two steps awat from him. The twins order Ludger to sit, and brandish their scepters at each other. For the last time on that night, a now-familiar chant passes their lips.

"Oh, why are you here, girls?" Spring's Dream asked with a gentle smile, looking at the young Vescovi twins in front of her.

"Well, we were wondering, can we play tag?" The bolder one, Rico she remembered, answered. Spring looked at her, a little confused.

"Not the normal tag - Magical Girl tag!" The gentler one, Eva, responded to the unasked question. Seeing interest in Spring's face, she proceeded: "What we want is to transform, fly in the sky and try to tag each other with our spells."Oh, that was it,Spring thought. Then she frowned minutely.

"Isn't Sun's spell really destructive?" Spring's Dream asked, blushing minutely. "If I recall correctly, it really makes a-a mess of our clothes! I cannot allow that so easily!"

Rico shifted uncomfortably and started explaining: "Well, we've actually done some training. We managed to make our spells synchronize, and we had a different one as a result. It's only slightly damaging, so there'll be no harm. Promise!"

Spring's frown deepened at the implication that the girls had probably done some live testing...

"I'm not happy you decided to do some unsupervised testing, girls. However, this time and only this time, I'm letting it slide, because no harm no foul," Spring's Dream interrupted Rico sternly, pausing to see if her rebuke worked. From the uncomfortable fidgeting, it probably did. Spring nodded to herself, internally, before smiling gently once again: "However, I wouldn't mind you playing aerial tag, so long as you obey the rules I set out. Are we clear?"

The twins nodded frantically, causing Spring's Dream's smile to widen. "And yes, this does mean you can play tag. So long as it's supervised, because this kind of active game with magic counts as a spar. I'm coming with you."

This declaration was met with surprise, swiftly transformed into gleeful eagerness that Spring found positively infectious.
. . .

. . .

"Now that we're all transformed and I applied my spell, we're ready to fly. But first, the rules you will abide by. First, touching someone by hand or by spell counts, and I'll be keeping count, so no cheating. Second, don't worry about tagging me by accident, but try to avoid it if at all possible, because I'll be in the air with you. Third, be very careful with casting spells if they can miss into the ground. Finally - the moment I tell you to stop, you stop immediately and come to me. Are we clear?"

""Yes!""

"Good. Now, the bout starts on my mark, so let's go into the air," Spring suits her words to actions, ascending in the air while pacing herself to let the twins keep up. Hmmm, might suggest them train their speed, I know how fun it can be, Spring's Dream smiled to herself. Rising above the skyline, she begins the countdown: "Three, two, one, Mark!"

The twins dart away from each other the moment Spring starts counting, Sun diving low while Moon rises high, both launching their spells at each other. The bout, however, moves rather swiftly to below the skyline, forcing Spring to follow. Ten minutes later she declares a break to Sun, watching Moon arrive at the roof without being actually told.

"Okay, I can see that this is not working out all that well. You cannot exactly hide from each other, but Moon's moonlight is far more effective since she can launch a number of beams all at once, compared to Sun's dark beam," Spring's Dream summarizes what she'd seen from their bout, "Overall, I think the idea of going below the skyline to try tagging each other by hand was good, but you seemed far too adept at finding and evading each other."

The girls look at Spring's Dream with slight dismay and resignation - at least until they hear her suggestion: "So how about this - I'll be joining this tag, myself versus the two of you. I don't have spells to tag with at a distance, but I'm really really fast. So here's how it will go - I won't go so fast you cannot even track me, I can only tag you by touching your back by hand, and I will retreat briefly every time I tag one of you."

The twins nod enthusiastically, their spirits raised once again. This is going to be fun, Spring's Dream thought to herself as started the countdown.

. . .
LINE BREAK IDENTIFIED
. . .

In the end, Spring's Dream's superior speed, agility and experience had proven to be the decisive factors of the aerial tag battle against the Primordial Sun and Moon - even with their spells, their connection, and their numbers, even with all the handicaps she gave them, they had only managed to tag her thrice.

The first time she bad underestimated Moon's reflexes, who managed to dodge her first attempt at tagging and launch a blind spell her way she was simply too close to evade all the beams. The second time, she was caught by Sun's spell ambushing her while she was searching the Moon. And the last time, their teamwork allowed Primordial Moon to hem her into the path of Sun's spell.

As she called the end of the match and descended to the ground since it was already dinnertime, Spring's Dream allowed herself to laugh lightly, her voices and those of the twins joining together in exhilaration. This was indeed fun.

However, as they were landing, the girls paused, before Eva spoke softly: "There's something else we need to tell you after dinner. The reason why I didn't use this spell on Rico, despite also knowing how to."

Ow! It stings!
And though Primordial Moon was unharmed by the exchange of two beams of almost not-light, the same could not be said for Primordial Sun.

Ugh... what a weird dream that was. Though it felt as if you had fun in it, even though the memories are fading quickly.

Shaking your head, you get out of bed and start cleaning up. It is a little later than normal, but you do not have classes today; Spring said it is okay to miss them this time.

After all, you will go and save another Magical Girl today. It took a while for everyone to agree on a plan, but it sounded good to you.

Target.:
-White Glory is at the lowest floor of an underground complex with five floors
--it is mostly secured inwards, with a manned security post on the top floor
--on ground level is a triangle of watchtowers above the complex, each ~50m high and equipped with infrared-sensors
--It is placed on the foot of a steep hill to the north; forest covers the areas to the south and east, while an open plain is in the west
--There is one entrance, open in all directions, in the center of the three watchtowers.

-The complex is filled with explosives; they are rigged to explode in a way that makes the whole structure collapse to deny White Glory a chance of escape
--These explosives are activated from afar
--White Glory has a Contractor placed so that she can stall the activation for about ten minutes
---The timer starts once she has to begin stalling. For as long as you remain unnoticed or they do not think you will be a threat, there will be no bombs exploding.

Objectives:
-(Mandatory) Retrieve White Glory and bring her to Autumn's Dream

-(Optional) Do not kill a single enemy

-(Optional) Reverse-abduct the opposing Magical Girl

-(Optional) Find and destroy the hunter
--fulfilling this objective will not lead to failing the pacifist-objective

Welp, here we go.
You have some time to discuss and make a plan; I am having exams the next few weeks, so the pace will slow down somewhat.

If there is anything I might have forgotten, ask. I will add missing data to this Update retroactively and give out whatever the twins have at hand, but I will not notice that something is not there if no one tells me.

It was a tiring day, all things considered. Trekking through the countryside with a girl several years younger than you, trying to remain unseen from prying eyes... at least you could stay transformed and did not have to crawl over grass and rock in the dark.

You are Irene Dioli, Magical Girl Black Sky. With you wanders Primordial Sun, though she is not transformed right now. These weird nets you both wear would not be able to hide her from being detected... she does not even realise how warm the space around her gets after transforming is what you think. It is similar to how you felt when you first gained these cursed eyes, each time you look at her. Transformed, the girl is only barely not bright enough to hurt them.

At least these thoughts help you see her as your enemy.

I wish we hadn't split up...

With just the two of you, conversation was sparse and your magic would not offer much protection. The younger girl mostly keeps quiet and watches the path she crawls along with you.

Thinking of that... you do remember Ana complaining a lot during your journey to Kibo. So did you, mind, but Eva... or was it Rico? Sun was Rico, was she not?

Shaking off the thought, you get back to the previous one. The girl with you has not complained even once, despite the fact that she is bruised and sweaty and obviously tired, more so than you. Her breathing is laboured as you sit and eat; you are not really hungry for some reason, but Autumn said to force it down.

You finally made it on top of the large hill before taking that rest, so the hardest part is over. With the other thingies you carry, the next step should work out well enough. Eat, drink some water, advance. The sun is not yet deep enough for it to count as dusk, but it soon will.

Sadly, your quiet contemplation is broken by your... ahem, 'glorious' leader: "Strength to all, status."

"Moon speaking", the other twin's voice cuts in over your headset; so the one with you is Sun after all. "Ana and I are in place to start."

"Autumn speaking, all clear on my end."

You sigh and exchange a glance with Sun. Moon does know everything that went on on your end until now, but did not say anything about it. They still insist on not telling anyone but Ana and you about it for some reason. What did you do to earn their trust like that?

"Sky speaking, we reached the second waypoint a minute ago. I want to take a short rest, then continue onwards."

"Understood. I have confirmation that none of you was spotted so far, but we don't know where Soldier Supreme is. Be careful."

""Of course"", is what you and Moon answer at the same time. Sun massages her tiny feet with a grimace that swings into a pout and back, then into a smile and back. That is another thing you are pretty sure the twins are not even aware about: their expressions change near-constantly at times and you are pretty sure it is because of their mental conversations.

You push these thoughts away after a bit and wave for the younger girl to follow you again; it is time. Your path becomes a lot easier, though; now that the climbing part is over, you just have to walk. The canopy even shields you from some of the offending rays the sun throws your way, though Rico does not even seem to notice even if they shine right into her eyes.

Your observation of the enemy by your side is interrupted the moment you notice a small building ahead... and a girl lying on its top. It is only faint, but you can see the air around her whirling in many warm colours that are not usually there. Magic.

A quick move pulls Sun into cover with you, the girl quietly complying. One finger pointed at the barely visible girl shows her what you spotted... and now that you are still, you can hear the faint sound of chatter coming from that same direction. That might be bad... but on the other hand... you quickly tap your microphone. "Sky speaking, there is a Magical Girl ahead of us. We weren't noticed so far and I can hear at least a handful of soldiers with her."

A momentary silence holds everyone as your plan falls apart before it even started. Then Winter speaks up with exactly what you wanted to hear: "Compromising their sniper is a priority for as long as we act on the outside. Do you think you can take her down with just the two of you?"

"Ugh... if we were together, we could just blast her unconcious..."
While you can not see Moon's pout, you can definitely hear it from those words; Sun provides the visuals. Still, your particular magic might be able to do the trick just fine, so you flick her forehead lightly and respond: "She is good, but we are already close and there are two of us. Sun, you distract the soldiers with her... I take care of the rest."

Seeing that no one knew where Soldier Supreme was until now, there will be none of White Glory's soldiers there. Just a handful of regular soldiers... but probably not enough enemies for you to work with.

Suppressing a sigh, you motion for Sun to follow you as you start sneaking. "Moon, prepare the jamming."

As you speak, you tap a few buttons on the thingy slung over your back before setting it down in front of an old tree. Moon can remote-activate it now.

A few steps closer, mind the bushes... ducking a little even though the girl is looking the other way... take no chances.

Once you are close enough, you motion for Sun to wait. She understands and keeps quiet as you scoop some blood from your temples and have it harden into a bright prism, then send it flying.

Despite the fact it was barely audible and definitely not visible from that angle, Soldier Supreme snaps out of her lying position in an instant... yet she was lying down and did not expect the blow; your crystal smashes into her side and throws her off the building, but not out of your line of sight. You can see her flesh turning a faint pink where cloth was torn... which means that it is an ugly purple in reality; that probably makes for a really heavy bruise, if not worse.

Sun transforms right next to you and takes to the air as you wander forward, right towards the heaving Magical Girl. Seeing her like this makes your stomach churn... did you hit her that hard?

Yet, "Good evening" is what you tell her with a smile while Sun's appearance leads to the first shouts. "I hope you don't mind us intruding on your outing?"

Her only response is to draw a sword on you; her sidearm, just like the intel said. Soldier Supreme does not even try to get her rifle and instead readies herself for combat. Surely she will feel better after... no, stop. No helping people anymore. You do not like her being hurt, but trying to make it better will only make it worse. No matter how beautifully and friendly your blood glimmers in the evening sun. You will more of it to flow out of the cracks in your skin, soaking your dress from the inside and gushing out.

Dozens of crystals start flying around your impromptu battlefield, each one eyed by the opposition while you produce more to fill the air... and then her sword swings around, right into the charging Sun.

She easily bats aside Sun's scepter, but her retaliation just slides off the tiny girl's skin like water... and she sidesteps the crystal you sent careening for her head.

A quick nudge has the big crystals break into smaller ones you can throw around faster while your ally slides aside and has a dozen soldiers come into view. You can feel your smile widen at the sight.

This is perfect.

With a shower of crystals going down on Soldier Supreme, you force her to continue dodging by using difficult angles. The soldiers stop and watch her dance through your bright lethal storm for a moment, enough for you to break down each crystal again to lead yet another strike.

Then she flinches from a crystal glancing her injured side, the pain making her overstep in her measured movements. You clamp down on the opportunity and smash as much as you can into her.

"Protect the girl!"
It is the first thing you hear from the soldiers while your crystals polish her skin until it shines probably grate off every little patch of skin they can reach. Your magic roars as you take in the opposition; three of them fall onto their backs as you smile, but the rest aims at you over the crumbling form of their Magical Girl. "Fire!"

And while your crystals break into smaller fragments yet again to dart back, a hail of bullets is let loose on you.

Another wave of crystals continues to chafe her and you manage to land one hit right into her neck. The bleeding girl collapses to the ground, her transformation dissolving in the same moment as you stop your assault. Pain courses through you, the sharp stings and fiery burning competing for attention with your roaring magic.

"Scorching Sunlight!"
And then the world is basked in light.

The air around you begins to boil from her spell's heat, but the light itself does not harm you. You welcome it, absorb it into your white-soaked body and bring it to use sealing the wounds you suffered before.

You peel yourself out of the light and refill the holes in your dress with quickly hardening blood... but there are no enemies anymore. The soldiers in front of you threw their weapons away and raised their hands high.

They surrendered.

Huh, that is a first.

(Armour Restored)

You both blink at the men and women, then at Soldier Supreme's prone body. Before either of you can say anything, the one in the front goes to his knees before you. "Please, have mercy!"

...that person is really weird. Although you can see why they might assume you want to hurt them back. Urgh, the thought alone makes you shiver. How can everyone be happy if people are wantonly bad to each other? What would mother think of that?

"Okay!"
Thank god for Sun, the little darling. She just floats around glowing brightly, her light illuminating the surroundings back to day-like conditions... with the spell she used earlier, they definitely know you are here now.

For some reason however, her acceptance has the soldiers baffled. You look around for a moment, at the small pile of rifles, the building right next to them and your cheerful friend enemy. Hm...

"Actually, I... take it your superiors won't be happy about this?"
"...no, ma'am..."

He stays close to the ground for some reason while the rest remains as still as possible, obviously scared. You really want to make them feel more at ease, but you have nothing to do that with at the moment. Though... heh.

"I see. Sun, would you be a dear and take care of these?"

You point at the weapons, a plan forming in your mind in the time the younger girl needs to nod her assent and raise her scepter. Then she pauses, looks between her weapon and the firearms... before wandering right into their middle with a bright smile. "I know! Stealth is over anyway, so it doesn't matter.... Supernova!"

Again her light rushes out from beneath her skin, engulfing the small area she stands at in an actually searing brightness. You hear a few soldiers gasp and curse as you shield your own eyes, but even you have to blink spots out of your field of vision afterwards. The grass around Sun is burned away, the ground grey and black... and the rifles are molten, burned wrecks. Good.

While the soldiers are still orienting themselves, you whack each of them into the head with a small crystal, the cries of pain making you cringe a little. "I'm sorry for this. Anyway, please stay around here until we've left and call your superiors sometime during the night. As you can see, we knocked you all out and made off with your Magical Girl."

Most are still rubbing the quickly forming bruises on their heads, but the first two start to catch on to what you mean and start explaining to their comrades.

Naturally, people that were knocked out while doing their duty will not be punished as much as people that surrendered. You almost giggle over your own genius before turning to Soldier Supreme.

You can take her along no problem, but what do you do after that?

As you still ponder, you notice someone with a first-aid kit patching up the girl. That is good, you do not want her to get into a critical condition while you are busy. Then Sun pulls at your sleeve to get your attention, looking a little sheepish. "Um... Eva says that Ana ate the towers while we were busy."

...

You stare at each other for a long moment, then a heavy sigh finds its way out of your throat. The worst part about this is that you are not even really surprised.

Three fifty metres tall watchtowers with sensors... and World Eater just made them into a snack.

"She said there was no one on them, so she thought that would help... it kind of does, too, right? Now they are basically blind to anything going on here, right?"

You offer a smirk over the probably unplanned pun and idly stick a finger into your left eyehole. "You're not wrong... at least I hope they don't have any eyes above ground anymore."

It still feels a little weird that you can feel out your own skull like that, but there is no pain for as long as you do not go further than a few centimetres. Blood gently pools around your finger, thick and viscous in there. Sun, however, flinches at the reminder. You pop the finger out and spray her with blood before she can apologise. "No being sorry, I'm no little flower you need to watch out for."

"...'kay..."

Now she sulks and wipes away the crystallising liquid. You just giggle and motion for the downed Magical Girl. "Now we just need to get down and meet up with the others. Stealth is definitely out of the question, so we should advance."

Advance... you always wanted to say that.
Anyway, the two of you shoulder the unconcious girl, bid the soldiers goodbye -why are they bowing?- and make your way downward.

Still, what will you do with Soldier Supreme?

Today I learned how bullshit Splinter actually is. Sky lolnoped that boss for you... although the fact she rolled so damn high each time is partly at fault. Of her six modifier rolls (1d300), none was below 210.
I revealed Fragment's Scatter on her sheet, too.

[Green: Completed]
[Red: Failed, or is impossible/unnecessary now]

You are Anastasia Caro... and your tummy hurts.

It sounded like a good idea at that moment; you were hungry and those weird towers told the soldiers what is going on outside. Now that you ate them, they can not find out what is going on anymore. You even made sure there was no one on them before digging in, but... augh...

Most of it already vanished in the caterpillar's tummy, but there is still something left in yours. Your belly is bloated again and you feel heavy.

But you try your best not to show any of it; you said you wanted to do this and the others came along because they wanted to help you. Quitting now is wrong.

At least you have a few minutes to get used to the ache while waiting for Rico, Irene and Autumn; Eva already told you what the others decided and you agree. None of you can stay back to make sure the other Magical Girl stays put, so you have to call Autumn. Good thing the signal for her was to make Rico shoot a beam into the air... which she already did.

While you are still sitting on a bigger stone and feel miserable, you can already feel Autumn's aura washing over you. Its smell makes your mouth water again, even though you are already this full... a quick shake of your head has the thought go away. Not the time... and no eating Autumn.

She is actually with you before either of your friends shows up, so you get to explain what happened while you wait. Eva is watching the treeline carefully, her face twitching every few seconds. She is talking to Rico again, about something you have no idea about... how does it feel like to be connected to someone like that?

Shaking off the thought, you turn towards the bright light closing in with Autumn; it is really easy to see Rico even from that far away. Once she and Irene leave the treeline, you can see that they have the other Magical Girl with them.

Everyone stands together some distance from the entrance while Eva fusses over the injured girl... she smells tasty and you shudder over the scent of fresh blood, pushing it down with force. No.

"Good to see this worked out. We've got... maybe fifteen minutes now."
Autumn checks some kind of datapad before nodding. "Sixteen, actually. Glory told us that they decided to use the self-destruct after a set amount of time passes without contact. It doesn't really matter if I'm here now, so go ahead and bring her out. I will wait here with her... or follow if you can clear the way properly."

That is... good. Autumn is strong, so having her would be nice. It helps hold the cold at bay... urgh, you want this to be over so you can go back home. You are so tired the last few days, maybe going to bed early will help a bit. And with everything working out so far... maybe you are not useless after all.

A thin hand on your arm pulls you out of these thoughts. Sky gently strokes your shoulder for a moment and offers an understanding smile. Ah yes, Sky... she is a good person. She always was, ever since you met her... though she tries harder to be actually nice now, instead of trying her hardest to help. Actually... maybe she is more like a big sister? A strong and pretty and creepy big sister?

"We should get going then."
"Uh-huh... but they are all around the entrance."

You can feel them, just like you can feel the birds in the trees and... even the one person deep below. You know where she is, now that you are here. White Glory. Your tummy gurgles as you think about the matter.

(Become Whole Again: +72 Base Damage Healed, no dice = 72 Total Damage Healed

Soldier Supreme Health: -32 + 72 = 40
Grated Skin Restored, Six Broken Ribs Reset)

(Soothing Moonlight: +2167 Base Damage Healed, dice do not matter = 2,167 Total Damage Healed

Soldier Supreme health: 40 + 2167 = 1,500)

Eva is still checking the other girl over, Soldier Supreme. Even though she does not look any worse for wear now and is still unconcious. Would she fuss over you like that too, if you were hurt?

Ah, no! Think!

You shake your head and look down again. This is soft ground and with Rapid Digestion... no, the metal will take too long with that.

But... you do have Absolute Decomposition too, the spell you made together with Nightmare Child. You practiced it even and it is insanely powerful... though you did not show it to anyone aside from Night and Irene. It is a little scary even... and you can feel that it will end up killing anyone you use it on; even if you have to do it more than once, nothing can resist this magic entirely. You can never, ever use it on a friend... and you do not even want to use it on your enemies, really.

But just the ground... hm. It would help, would it not? And it is magic, so it should not make the bombs explode... and you can aim so there is no one in the way.

But should you?

[X] Melt your way through

"We should hurry"
Autumn has her eyes on the normal entrance, but... you would have to go through all those soldiers if you went through there. So before anyone can agree with her, you speak up: "I have an idea!"

When everyone's eyes turn to you, you realise that you might have said that better. Not that you can do anything about it now, but... whatever. "There is no one that way", you point at the ground, "so I can just melt my way through all the way to the bottom."

The twins look interested and Autumn looks at you in a similar way... but Irene is concerned after what you told her before. "Are you sure about this? I can go through the front no problem."

But you just nod and offer her a shaky smile. It is not that you like using your magic, but this is... more of using it as a tool instead of as a weapon; like a really good shovel. That is okay. A calm nod is your response to your older friend.

No one says anything when you look around. Rico nods encouragingly and Autumn gives you a thumbs up. Soldier Supreme is still lying on the ground and unconcious... you turn your eyes away from them and onto the ground while your stomach constricts and the heavy feeling of magic courses through your belly. It feels... wrong for you to use, magic that ultimately should never have been yours coiling around your center. But you already know it will work, wrongness or not. It is yours, after all.

Within a moment, the sloshing stops and your muscles press a stream of warm liquid up your throat; you quickly open up and keep your lips in position to make sure it does not splash.

And from your mouth shoots a stream of sludge, looking more viscous than it feels like coming up. The ground it hits starts steaming, hissing and vanishing within moments, a large hole quickly forming where you were aiming at. It only takes a moment longer until the stream stops coming and you quickly gather the last few droplets before spitting them out; their magic already dissipated, so they do not really do anything.

Before you, though... there is a deep hole into the ground, with light illuminating some parts of it further down. The others look baffled and awed... but the last one is just Rico, really. You just keep quiet and try to look as far down into the hole as you can; there is a lighter metal at the bottom... and you can sense the people by the entrance scattering... before a few start moving around and herding the rest.

"Alright, that looks good! Come on!"

You play over the embarassing silence with cheer and wave at Autumn before sliding into the hole. The ground all around is molten solid and you quickly get lower, passing by the first light before Eva overtakes you. Then Rico is by your side and Sky wanders after you. You do not dare looking back right now, but Autumn is surely watching and being proud.

At least you hope so.

The deepest you can get from the tunnel you dug is still a little above the one lonely person... though you are pretty sure she started moving for some reason. The room you yourself enter is empty except for a few tables and chairs, some molten partly... oops?

Your friends are right behind you, climbing into the room once you cleared the opening. You could easily walk through that whole tunnel... it is really good that no one was in the way.

"Wha-!"
Eva's shout is interrupted by something going off and... everything freezing. You can feel everything go stiff and in the ensuing silence, there is a soft clink. Your eyes are the only things you can still move, trying to force your muscles does nothing... but you can not see what the thing is.

Then you see him walking through the doorway, just barely from the corner of your eye. His suit looks sturdy and... and you can not feel him being there! Not even all the stuff in Kibo made that possible, how did he do it?

The expressionless helmet regards you for a moment, then he wanders out of sight entirely. Chills run down your spine and you try to force your hands to clench, your legs to give out, anything.

Nothing happens, each passing second filling you with dread and fear for your friends. He did just this thing and... and now you are completely helpless. Useless. What did he do?!

Rico is to your right and you can actually see her eyes moving around, focusses on something happening behind you; the almost inaudible tapping of armoured feet on the ground is gone as well and... you can hear something buzz quietly.

Then the figure below pauses for a moment, just before the room you are in starts to shake. A soldier from up above made their way down and runs through the door to your side-

(Shredder Line: +200 Base Damage, +500 Unexpected Attack, +6500 Shredded With Impunity = 7,200 Total Damage
White Glory Contractor: +1020 Base Resilience, no dice = 1020 Total Damage Reduction Unstoppable

White Glory Contractor Health: 7,650 - 7,200 = 450
Contractor de-limbed)

-only for a whirring sound, a pained cry and wet thuds on the ground, followed by the irony smell that always makes you so hungry. A tear finds its way into your eye, only barely managing to roll down from where it is. This is... not fair. Why now, after everything went so well before?

Your mind is racing, trying to bring your motionless body to move... trying to come with something, anything you can do... and then you notice it. The two people coming from above, one carrying the other. You also notice that White Glory is moving up to be closer to your level of the base.

Hunter snaps around for some reason, maybe he heard a sound. Then you hear a louder buzz and an angry hiss...

(Opticor: +1000 Base Damage 3000 Laser, -1500 Switched Targets, +1500 Magical Girl Slayer, no dice = 3,000 Total Damage
Autumn's Dream: +10000 Base Resilience, -9089 Juggernaut, +2118 dice = 3,029 Total Damage Reduction

No Damage)

...that fades out without adding any new scents to the mix; you are pretty sure this means whatever he did had no effect. Though there is this weird smell you remember from being close to Kibo's power plant, curious.

There is some more tapping, but nothing else happens for a few moments. Then a somewhat amused voice cuts through the silence like a knife, the edge audible even to you: "That was a pretty decent trap, y'know? Good thing I'm around, or the girls would have been in real trouble."

No reaction, although you are pretty sure that White Glory is coming closer... and there is rumbling from the outside; you hear metal tearing and screeching and- what is she doing out there?!

"But in the end, it's not going to fly. Maybe you'd have gotten away with it if you waited until all the girls are out of my sight from above... heh. You're planning to pull your little stunt again, aren't you?"

(White Glory Contractor Health: 450 - 765 Bleed = -315)

Still no reaction and you can not see him... but there is buzzing and explosions from nearby now, the person you are sure is White Glory weaving through something and stopping at times, or moving back, but she never stops moving... and the person whose blood you can smell from the side is dead... you can feel their life fade away, the body vanishing to your senses.

With another weight settling in your stomach, the numb feeling on your limbs is starting to fade slowly; but you can still not move in the slightest. No matter how much you try to struggle, it does not help... you are still bound in place, with your eyes still on the walls and Rico; that is why you can not see what produces the sudden crashing and tearing sounds.

(Forever Fall: +9600 Base Damage, -2400 Thrown Weapon, -3500 Through the Wall, -3000 Can Not See the Enemy, +6479 dice = 7,179 Total Damage

7,179 Total End Damage

The Most Dangerous Game (50%): 3,589 Total End Damage

3,589 Final End Damage

Hunter Health: 900 - 3,589 = -2,689)

What you can see is the body flying past you, with Autumn's grey and brown scythe buried in its chest. It lands against the wall right in your field of vision, lying there without moving; lights blink in a few places and the metallic material seems to shift a little, but it does nothing overall. The haze over you fades more and you finally manage to break out of whatever it is, just like your friends do the same. There are cries of joy and two bodies fly right into you, hugging you tight. Another, bigger one follows them a moment later.

You can feel wetness on your cheeks and a faint shudder all over your body... but the warmth all around helps. This... this was scary. So very scary.

There are arms and hands everywhere and you slowly relax, blinking away the last bit of wetness and finally turning around... to see another hole in the wall, with Autumn leaning against it and watching the four of you. Her tail is still, tightly wound around her thigh as it is.

Then you can feel the other person right- "Oh... it is good to see everyone alright."
You turn back together with the others, to find the girl you came here for. Long, pinkish white hair with a golden ring around each of her twin tails is the first thing you notice. Next is her faint pink dress and the white and red jumper.

Only then do you see her eyes, pure red with a white pupil.

There is a faint smile on her lips as she stands in the doorway; your friends separate as she strides into the room with probing steps, looking around until her eyes come to rest on the corpse. What is left of Hunter started leaking blood into a small puddle and now that you remember that was there, Autumn walks over and removes her weapon. She looks down at the body for a moment before shaking her head and turning around. "Yeah, we're okay. You are White Glory?"

Who else would she be? But you guess it makes sense to ask; the girl nods with a bounce of her hair before walking up to you. "I am. Please, can we leave?"

...you want to ask questions and find out stuff, but you also want to get as far away from this place as you can. No one objects, so Autumn offers a smile together with her hand, Soldier Supreme already propped over her shoulder. "Sure. Everyone hold on."

It only takes a moment for all of you to hang onto the older girl; White Glory has her hand, you and the twins are quickly clutching her waist, and Irene has a hand on her free shoulder. Then you are gone from the place, back on the meadow you visited just a few hours ago.

Everyone lets out a sigh of relief, including yourself. You let go of Autumn and fall back until you sit on the ground, letting the breeze cool you down some more. The other girls come to sit with you, but Autumn stands aside to let Soldier Supreme down slowly and look her over.

And White Glory... is sitting a bit to the side, combing her hands through the grass. You can only see her back, but she is hunched over and does not seem to care about any of you at the moment. No one speaks and you do not want to break the silence, either. Rico calmly leans on her twin and Irene let herself fall back to look at the slowly vanishing sun, a pool of black ichor slowly forming around her head.

So you go back to watching the girl you... you saved. You did it, did you not? You actually saved her... and everyone is okay. It is thanks to Autumn, but... but... now all will be good, right?

Your thoughts halt when you hear the giggle. It is quiet at first, almost choked... but then it grows louder as White Glory rips out a few blades of grass and has them go through her hands. She picks a flower and holds it towards the last rays of the evening, still giggling and then laughing in a high pitch.

You all watch her slump back down, only to bend over and hug herself; the giggles quickly turn into sobs while the girl herself starts shaking. She is crying.

A hand on your shoulder stops you from getting up; Autumn is there, her eyes calm as she shakes her head at both you and Rico... huh, your friend wanted to get up, too. But Autumn told you not to, so you keep sitting where you are and follow her moving towards White Glory with your eyes. The twins look at you and you look back, but there is not much you could tell each other in these moments.

Autumn for her part... she just sits down next to the crying girl, making no motion to comfort her or anything.

You do not know how long the girl cries, but her sobs ultimately die down. She keeps hiding her face until the shaking of her body has stopped entirely, then turns around to glance at you. The area around her eyes is red and puffy, her hair is a little messy and a few muscles twitch a few times.

"Thank you."

This is all she says. Silence takes all of you once more and nobody feels like talking until it is time to actually go home. Autumn takes up the unconcious girl again and all of you come around before she casts.

And then you are back, right at the central plaza. There are a few of the other girls waiting... but not Flower, she is elsewhere again. You have to go find her sometime. But right now, there are girls cheering for you and congratulating you and.... and Spring is there, too. She takes Soldier Supreme to the infirmary before Autumn and Strength shoo the others away. It is already night and you are... actually pretty tired. You want to have dinner and drink juice and go to sleep now.

But before you get to do that, all of you are herded into the same room you made your original plan in; just a table in the center, with a dozen chairs put up around it. Once everyone is done sitting, Strength offers you all a thumbs up and a wide smirk. "Total success, ladies. We caught some transmissions about the Chinese having evacuated the base before it blew up, so there are no casualties.

The wet sounds you heard just a few hours ago say otherwise, but you will not tell her that.

White Glory gently taps her finger on the table and offers a nod, though. "I had my Contractors corral them once your team made it past the entrance... though I didn't expect them capable of just going through four floors in seconds."

The redness around her eyes is long gone and there is no trace of what you saw back on Autumn's world. Now the girl is calm and friendly, her voice quiet. "I already started stripping all remaining Contractors of their power; the process should be over by tomorrow. I am not planning to ever use this magic again, in case you were wondering. And... I would like to stay here, if you would have me."

Strength was listening with a raised eyebrow and you felt weird hearing all of this in such a calm tone. Once she pauses however, the Japanese girl just shrugs. "Sure, I was planning on doing that anyway."

The rest of the evening is little more than a blur.

Were we born to fight and die?
Sacrificed for one huge lie?

Are we heroes, keeping peace?
Or are we weapons, pointed at the enemy,
So that someone else can claim a victory?

You wake from hazy dreams and get out of bed with vigor. Yesterday was tiring, but today will be a good day again.

You are once more the Vescovi twins. Well, Eva to be exact, though it does not really matter all that much these days. Both of you get up, pet the dog good morning and make your bed. The second one is still empty and unused with the both of you sharing, so you only have half as much work.

Another day has come and it is time for... classes. But at least they are good classes, not boring at all.
After that, though... what do you want to do today, with new faces around and people you have yet to meet and... oh, right. The funeral for the girls that died last week is today, too.

"Even with all the power I have, I am afraid. Afraid of not being good enough, afraid of letting people down. Maybe not you, or your mama and papa, or the elders... but there are so many people in the world. I am here and despite everything, I can not be everywhere. I am afraid of what happens in other parts of the world while I am here. There must be so many girls like the few we took in, but will there be someone like me for them? Someone who is willing to care? I fear that there is no one like that, that in idling I am condemning them."

[X] Even though you did not know any of the girls, you feel like you should attend the funeral.
[X] Check on White Glory; she knows no one else here, so she may like a friend or two
[X] Soldier Supreme should be awake by now. You kind of kidnapped her, so maybe you should go and say sorry for that?

You realise during class that something changed yet again. You are now different from before, feeling... whole. For the first time in a long while, you are truly content with yourself. All the irritation is gone, the final piece having clicked into place... and because of that, you can not really keep the smile from your faces.

Little else happens during class, though. Once you are let out, it is time to go about your plan for the day; splitting up to save time crosses your mind, but most people do not know about your magic and you rather they did not find out just yet. You want to get used to this first. Maybe tomorrow?

You were talking to Sky about classes and also what she thinks about the new girls while pondering. She keeps smiling over her soft responses while you wander left and right of her, with Ludger by your feet. Ana vanished to somewhere else, though; you have no idea where she is right now.

Either way, Soldier Supreme is your first target for the day. It was your decision to catch her, so you need to make sure she is alright... and maybe make a friend out of her? That would be nice, more friends are always good.

"Did something good happen this morning, Eva? You keep on smiling."
Sky jumped into a pause you made there, but her question makes sense. You nod one of your heads and fold your hands behind your back before leaning aside. "It did, but you will find it creepy again."

You like how smart Sky is; it was just a little hint, but she gets that it is in regard to your connection within moments. You see her forehead wrinkle a little as she frowns lightly before turning to you, then turning back to you. Heh, messing with her by just looking back is fun. "Okay? What happened?"

"I am now... stable, I think. I mean... I was always stable, but now I think it will not change any further. If that makes sense?"

It is actually pretty hard to explain to anyone who does not know this feeling. How to describe acting with two bodies at once, one observing and the other talking; how to make sense of things you did not understand a week ago, how to notice all the little things from your two points of view. You do remember times where it was not like this, but it now feels so shallow in comparison.

"...it doesn't. I'm sorry."

Oh. You sigh twice and shrug in response. "Okay, I guess. It's hard to describe, but I will think about it." "Let's just say I'm feeling better than ever right now."

Messing with Sky by switching where to talk to her from between sentences is also fun. She is frowning at you now, but does not say anything anymore. She does not have to anyway, seeing that the three of you finally reached the 'prison' now. It is really not much of that from what the others told you; just a building full of holding cells for Magical Girls, though they would not even be able to keep either of you inside for long. It is mostly so that the younger girls can cool down after they had a bad fight.

It makes sense to have something like that; you recall having fights with some of the boys back before becoming a Magical Girl, too.

You walk in and quickly wander down the corridor until you reach the only door with a lit sign; coming closer, all of you shiver as a cold wind whispers over your bodies and minds. Everything feels so slow all of a sudden, the cold settling deep below your skins and making you shudder. Ludger shakes himself and Sky looks around curiously before rubbing her own arms. "So this is what fighting Winter feels like. Brr..."

She is at the door first and starts knocking a few times. Only a moment later, the cold recedes and only leaves a cool touch on your exposed skin instead of chilling you to the bones. The door opens and reveals Winter's Dream, one dagger casually in her right hand and her hood pushed back. She nods at you for a moment before stepping aside and letting you enter. "You have visitors."

There is no response, though; the girl behind the silver bars keeps lying on her bed and ignoring you. Her black hair forms a small pond all around her head, the rest of her body hidden under a blanket... and she does not react even when you come to sit right before the bars. One of your heads remains turned towards Winter, who is working on a computer; you already heard that she is keeping an eye on Soldier Supreme, but you did not expect her to do it like this.

The new Magical Girl, however... she ignores you. Not even a curious peek in your direction, her eyes are closed and she evenly breathes in and out. "She was like this all night and all morning. Strength had to spoonfeed her because she refused to eat by herself."

Uh...
"Um..."
"...do you mean she threatened her with it?", is what you interrupt Sky with; the look she gives you appears as if she wanted to ask the same thing. Winter shakes her head, though. "She did that at first... then she actually went through with it because the girl still refused."

And while you talk about this, you can see the faintest trace of pink appear on Soldier Supreme's face. Aha, she is embarassed! So she can hear you and is not a robot like Iron, you can work with that.

. . .
Line Break Recognised
. . .

...you thought you could work with that, but it was for naught. You tried for half an hour to get Soldier Supreme's attention; chatter, banter, good jokes, bad jokes... the only thing you thought of but did not do was shouting at her.

The result: nothing. Not even the slightest reaction, she completely ignored you. Which is why you are more than just a bit miffed as you all leave; not even Ludger being around made her do anything. You apologising did not help, either.

"How rude."

Sky shrugs in response while you huff and sigh, the three of you again wandering; this time it goes back to your rooms, though. The funeral will be soon and you need to get changed.

No one said anything about dress codes, but it sounds like the right thing to do for today. You hope you have a set of plain clothes lying around somewhere, nothing bright or fancy for this occasion. Sky is lucky in a way; she can just go in her black dress, no need to change. That is why she comes with you, actually; to look through your things with you.

Though her face when you open the door is weird. She is looking around a lot more than last time she was here. "You two really need some things to fill your room with. It can't stay bare forever."

Huh. There are a few books on the shelf and you got a few extra pillows and a blanket for Ludger's basket, too. With one bed in disuse, that leaves a wardrobe and two desks with partly done homework on them... and plain blue walls.

There really is not much for you in here, although it does not really bother you. You only come here to sleep, after all. "It's fine, I don't use this room much, anyway."

Sky's shoulders slump a little, you almost do not notice before she straightens up again and shakes her head. "I'm afraid I can not accept that, girls. If you refuse to make this feel at least somewhat homely, then I will have to force that on you. But no matter, we have other matters to attend-"

There is a knock on the door interrupting her and you quickly bounce over to open it; on the other side is Chitin Dancer, looking tired and with a package in her hands. A tiny spider is climbing around in her hair and you do your best to ignore it while she hands it over to you. "Here, sorry I am this late. Half of the girls needed something for the occasion and I just remembered neither of you would have thought of asking... you're quickly starting to be my favourite around here, Sky. Good to see you get along... and if you excuse me, I want to crash in my nest and sleep for the next ten hours."

You do not even get to say anything and just listen to her babble before she waves and wanders away. Sky giggles a little before beckoning you to open the package. "Poor Chi. Let us see what she made you."

...there is a lot of black around today. A few of the girls -like Winter- wear trousers to their shirts, but most everyone either has a skirt or is clad in a dress; you are doing both of the latter. No idea why Chi made it like this, but you like how the dress works better with your long hair and the shirt/skirt combo goes well with your short hair.

Neither set has any particular adornments, but they fit you well and are comfortable. The same is true for everyone else... though you also see a few people in clear white, such as Strength. The boys are sitting here and there, too.

The funeral itself is... you can not really say weird, seeing that you never were to a funeral before. At least none you can remember well. You are further in the back, with Sky to your right and Ana to your left. To her left is Budding Flower, in her white shirt and with the same green leaves around her. In the front are Strength and the Seasons, talking somberly and allowing anyone who wishes to speak to come up and say something.

Behind those five are six urns, filled with the ashes of the girls that died. Each one has a name tagged to it, but none of them means anything to you.

Once everyone who wants to has spoken and the urns are brought into another building, the crypta, people gradually start dispersing; some are still there and talk, others go for a walk instead. you try to join the general mourning, you really do. It just... does not come. You do not feel as sad as you feel you should, not even close. No one you knew died and even the somber mood does not stop you from being somewhat relaxed.

It is on this somewhat unhappy note that you bid Sky and Ana farewell; there is still one more thing you want to do before dinner. Maybe you should also talk to Budding Flower sometime; she seems to be better than she was the last time you saw her.

Right now however, you want to talk to someone else in particular; she left the ceremony just a minute before you and is not far once you go looking. Though she does notice rather soon as well and waits for you to catch up with her once she does. You beam up at White Glory, who gives you a friendly nod in return. "Sun, Moon, a pleasure to see you... although today is not much of a day to celebrate, I am afraid."

You give her an agreeing nod and frown from her other side. "Yeah, it's really weird. I don't really know any of the girls that died and... I'm sure I should feel more sad about it than I do."

Glory rubs her wide forehead before shrugging and motioning for you to walk with her. "I understand the sentiment. It is difficult to find any sympathy for strangers these days. On the other hand, I highly respect anyone who is capable of doing so... and I respect the both of you for making the attempt anyway. Among other things, that is."

She speaks so formally and friendly. It is different from what you are used to, yet pleasant to listen. Glory has a nice voice, not too high and not too low, just like Bianca when she is a tiny bit agitated.

Both of you stay quiet for a minute or two, just wandering away from the city center and towards the more open areas. "I have come to like this city already, especially its outward districts. They are very well kept and easy on the eyes."

Now there is a note of wistfulness -you think- in her voice as she looks around and over the vast landscape one can see in the distance. You decide to ignore it, though; whatever bothers her, it would not be right to ask. For now, it should be better to give Glory some time to settle in. "Yeah, I like it, too. But I think I like the people more. There are girls from everywhere and everyone gets along."

"Heh, you are right about that."
Glory ruffles your shorter hair, much to your indignation. You only manage a squeak and to bat at her hand once before she lets go of you and giggles, though. Ugh, why does everyone have to do that to you?

...better change the topic.

"What have you been doing today? I haven't seen you in class."

You wander a little further before Glory responds; her expression is still indifferent, but you can tell from how she almost frowns that there is something bothering her. "I... do not feel well being inside at the moment. Strength was very accomodating once I brought it up; I will be joining you in class... next week, I think. Until then, I am free to explore the city at my own leisure. Now that my Contractors can no longer be of any trouble to Kibo, everyone can relax again."

She is right about that part; there might be other Magical Girls helping the Chinese government, but Glory would know if there was anyone like her. Aside from rogue groups, the city should be safe for the time being. Now that she mentioned them, though...

"What happened to your Contractors, anyway?"
Your question makes the older girl blink before offering another shrug. "I contacted all of them and gave them the choice to either agree with a termination of the contract, or to be ordered to commit suicide. All of them gave up on their powers... in fact, Strength sent the prisoners on their way just this morning."

This sounds a little mean, but you can kind of understand why Glory would do that. Plus, she just said that nobody died, so it was probably okay.

You spent some more time wandering around with White Glory and even invited her to eat dinner with you; it was a little weird and also interesting to have your food on the outside, sitting on one of the benches. Ludger and Spring were with you today while Ana and Sky kept Flower company.

Now that you are fed and said goodbye to your maybe-friend, you find yourself with a little time at hand before curfew.

What will you do with your evening? Choose two:

[] Find Strength and talk to her

[] Say thank you to Chi for the clothes

[] Talk to Grand Architect; she is a little funny, but you are curious about her anyway

[] Actually, how about you throw in some evening-workout?
-[] Write-in what to train

[] Go take a long bath; you earned it after yesterday
(Overrides the other choice to Double Down; you refuse to be clean and dirty at the same time)

[] Double Down
(This option will have both twins be present for whichever action you choose; if you do not take it, each of them will complete one action)
