[X] Go take a long bath; you earned it after yesterday
[X] Double Down

You stretch a few times and get going, the dorm being your goal now. Walking around under the afternoon sun was nice, but you are a little sweaty by this point; plus, you did not really get to clean yourself properly after the mission the previous day. With how tired everyone was, Spring ushered you to bed as soon as you were done talking with White Glory.

Now you have time... and no idea where your friends are, anyway. Chi is probably still asleep, though she might wake up soon.

Ah, no matter.

You hum a little on your way to your room, falling into a nice rhythm with yourself by the time you got your pyjamas and left for the large bath you were shown a week ago. Your clothes wander into the lockers and you hurry inside and into the warm air.

However, your thoughts wander back to the mission you went on just the previous day once you set yourself down on two neighbouring stools; washing up does not take much of your attention, instead you go over what happened.

No one was hurt a lot back then.
Except that "Hunter"-person, but you rather not think about them. It was pretty scary in retrospect; you could not do anything at the time, just watch him point his gun at Sky while everyone was frozen in place.

Good thing Autumn was there; you could see her the whole time, with how she stayed out of reach of whatever weird gadget Hunter used. You also saw Hunter carefully hiding behind the corner, readying another of those things... and then Autumn just crashed the wall.

Pushing the image of his broken body and the slowly pooling blood out of your mind, you quickly get to scrub your back. The short hair is really helpful with that, you do not even have to push it aside. Though you do turn that head when you hear the door, only to find... Ana. She wears a towel just like you did on the way in, but her face seems relaxed. "Ah, so that's where you are!"

You return her wave with both right hands; good thing you can use the one left hand with the sponge so well, too. ""Hey, Ana! Come sit with me.""

She quickly wanders over to take the stool by your left side, sitting down with a sigh and grabbing a sponge. You continue working on your back and talk to her from the side. "What were you doing today?"

"Hm? Oh... mostly spending time with Flower. She's getting better after losing her friends, but she holed herself up in the sewers a lot over the last few days. Her garden is growing back, too; you should come see it sometime."

"Is she okay?"

Ana only hums at first while carefully wiping over her arms and legs. When she does respond, you are already switching places to wash your other back; this time you have to be careful to push your hair out of the way, though. "I think so... and I hope it, too. She is really nice, just... I'm worried..."

It makes you feel a little warmer that your friend has people she cares about so much. You never really said it, but you were worried about Ana as well. She looked so unhappy about a lot of things recently, having something good happen should help her. Actually... now that you think about it...

"Mhm, I'll go and talk to her sometime. She must be great if she's your friend. But... are you okay?"

"...yeah, I'm fine."

That does not sound like she means it; you finish up with your own back, rinse yourself off and only respond after finishing. By grabbing your sponges and wandering over to flank your friend. "Do you mind if I help you?"

"Huh?"

While she looks up, you pull the smile off of your faces and frown down at her; she better not say no right now. "...okay? D-Did I do something?"

You look at her like this a moment longer, trying your hardest not to break into a wide grin before you got down; then you start gently wiping her right shoulder. You also put away the second sponge and make a grab for the shampoo, to work it into Ana's hair. ""Yes, you did. You did really good yesterday, so I think you earned some spoiling.""

You faintly remember the times where your mother or big sister spoiled you for doing well in class or something similar. It always felt really nice and made you happy. So right now, you will do the same for Ana. That also means no more having fun with speaking in synch, though... aww.

It is a sacrifice you can accept for now, all things considered. Ana does not say anything while you take care of her arms, her own sponge resting on her knee; she feels a little stiff, even though you try to be as careful with her as possible.

"But... I didn't do much at all..."

She is quiet, almost too quiet about it; you have trouble hearing her despite being right next to her. Her voice... reminds you a little of how you used to feel back when you started as Magical Girls; always getting hurt without being able to do anything... that memory makes you feel a little cold even now, though you finally understood that not everything in the world is in your hand. Ana... had to do a few really bad things, too. Just like that one soldier you ended up killing, she probably did not want to.

Has she someone to tell her it is alright and to look forward? Now that you think about it... where would you be now if you had not been two at the time? This is... not good?

Instead of pondering any more, you loose your soapy hands out of Ana's hair and gently comb it back into something resembling order. You also continue cleaning her up, wandering from her right to her left side. "I don't think so. It was I who did basically nothing yesterday... I was just... there. Sky defeated Soldier Supreme and the people with her basically by herself. And you gave us the opening we needed and made it so we reached Glory in time with your Spell. It's not your fault that Hunter was right there, okay?"

"B-But-" "Nah!"
You flick her forehead the moment she tries to talk back, grinning from ear to ear; it is actually a little painful with that face, seeing how rarely it had such a big smile. "You did well, Ana. Nothing you say will make me change my mind."

Then you hug her. It is really awkward with how she is still sitting and everything is full of soap, but you do it nonetheless; you hug your friend from both sides so she can feel as warm as you have ever since you gained your magic, your four arms locking her safely in place.

She squirms a little at first, but then relaxes and hugs you back with a sniffle. "T-Thank you... thank you... thank you... thank you..."

You do not answer; there is really no need to right now. You just let her mumble into your shoulder and pet her head as best as you can without getting the shampoo everywhere. Once the two of you separate, you only just manage to stop Ana from wiping her eyes with soap-covered hands. "Here, let's finish up and get into the tub."

So you quickly gather the second sponge, offer another smile to your friend, and get to work again. Every nook and cranny on her arms, hands, legs, feet, back, and chest gets its proper care; you let Ana do the rest, though; touching certain places without her permission would be rude.

Once she is done and you rinsed her as well as yourself off properly, you all sink into the warm water with content sighs. You can really see why the Japanese do it that way; Strength had a great idea when she had this place made.

Your friend looks a bit more upbeat now, too; you watch her as you sit to her left and right quietly, enjoying the warmth together.

After a while of soaking in peace however, your friend throws you contemplative looks and starts fiddling with her blond locks. "What about you? Irene said you're different, too... and I think she is right."

"Who is Irene?"
"Oh... whoops? I meant Sky."
"Ohhh!"

So that is her actual name. You have to keep that in mind, though... later. For now, you should get to answer the question. Ana seems concerned with how she is fidgeting. "I... I still have trouble describing. I'm not even sure what to call it myself, actually. I'm... different now than from what I used to be."

"...um..."

Your friend looks a little confused between you and yourself. "Which one? Eva or Rico?"

"...Both."
You carry on before she can digest that and try to explain as best as you can: "I... I don't think calling myself with either name is right. I am both." "I can do this easily now, I can see everything either of me sees... either of my bodies, I mean." "They are both mine is all."

You switch back and forth to show her what you mean, but it does not seem to help. Ana's eyes are small and concern is written all over her face. You can understand her; this is not normal at all, so something bad might come of it.

"I... don't know what this will end up being. All I know right now is that I don't dislike it; I feel... good with how it is."

You realise it is the truth the moment you say it. Even though near everything about it is uncertain and you have to think about so many things before you can say you understand yourself. Even though you have no real idea who you are now or what to call yourself, you are absolutely certain that this is something you like.

"...then that's okay with me."
""Huh?""

Ana giggles a little over the looks you give her, then she offers you a smile of her own. "You like me the way I am... so if you're okay with whatever happens to you, I like you, too... I... just don't think I really get it."

"That's okay, I don't get it, either."
You both laugh for a few precious seconds, then your bodies shift around a little to sit better. Not just your skin feels warm now, your chest does, too. Deep down... just like back at home, with everyone. Technically, Ana is a small piece of home you have here.

"You... really don't care how mean I was to you?"

Her voice brings you out of your pondering and makes you blink a few times. That was... not the kind of question you expected at this point. Is she still thinking about it?

"It's just... I did so many bad things... and I never even apologised..."

You do not stop her, letting your friend speak her mind as you think how to work this out. It seems to bother her a lot, even though you already put it past yourself. There is so much change in your mind that those feelings went forgotten, or something like that.

When Ana does not continue and ducks her head instead, you sigh doubly and shimmy around so both of you are sitting in front of her. "Then how about you apologise now? I'm right here."

It takes her a moment to look up and stare at you, but then she nods shily. A few shifts of her own happen before Ana looks you -Eva's body- in the eyes. "I'm sorry. For everything."

Her voice is clear this time, but you can see the liquid build up in the corners of her eyes. She is trying really hard. So you smile back without ever breaking eye-contact. "I forgive you."

It is just a handful of words, soft and careful. Yet they make the tears leak out and your friend dart over to hug you close again. You pretend you do not hear her sniffing and sobbing as you rub her back.

Hopefully this will make her feel better.

When you are out of the bath, it is almost time for bed. Though you are set on finishing your current mission of spoiling your friend, so she has to sit between you in her pyjamas as you dry her hair, then brush it. Neither of your hairs is as long as hers and you like how it is almost golden. Shiny and curly, heh.

Ana herself is slumped a little bit, but not in the bad way; she looks more relaxed now, enjoying your work with her eyes closed. "I'm glad you feel better now. Don't think about the past too much, okay?"

She hums in response before peeking up at you from one eye. "You sound like adults now... or... an adult? Uh..."

You shrug in response, both to what she said and her confusion. "I guess so. I had to concentrate to do it before, but now it comes almost naturally. I read some nice books, too."

A lot of the words you use now are from those books, in fact. You need to read more and find more words... maybe you should read a dictionary? Though that would be pretty boring and take a lot of time. Alternately, you realise you can just keep listening to the older girls talking to each other. That might work.

But for now you shake off the thoughts and finish up with your friend's hair. Now it is all nice again and Ana looks decidely more happy than earlier today. She does not say anything, but the look she tries to hide is enough for you to know. You also notice that it gets easier to tell her mood from just looking at how she acts... Ana never was one to really talk about her feelings, was she?

You continue to ponder this while the two of you wander back to your rooms, small baskets with your dirty clothes in hand. Ana is happy being silent for now, so you leave her be and watch how straight she holds herself now; it is a lot more like she used to be back in Verona, back straight and head held high. Though her usual frown was replaced with a softer expression, lips slightly curled upwards and the rest of her face relaxed.

You like this Ana a lot more than the one she used to be.

With this decision made and after saying good night to your friend, you finally make your way back... only then do you return to previous thoughts. Ludger yips hello and jumps out of his basket to greet you, so you quickly pick him up and place him on your laps to pet him for a bit.

Who are you now? Or... maybe you should start with what you are? Still human at least, but definitely not normal any longer. You know you used to be two girls, but now you no longer feel like either one. You feel like being both.

You raise one left and one right hand respectively before touching their palms together in-between yourself. The feeling is the same as if you intertwined both hands from one body instead; it is no different to what you remember.

Does that make you more than other humans? Does it just make you different? How should you call yourself now, with neither Eva nor Rico being able to describe you properly?

Those are still hard questions despite everything. You suddenly do no longer feel like spoiling your dog; he is quickly carried back into his basket while you clean off bits of fur. ""Good Night, Ludger.""

A sleepy yip is his only response; you finish cleaning up and slide under your own covers, hugging yourself. At least you will never feel cold like this.

The thoughts do not leave until you fall into a deep slumber, though. You do not find any answers this night.

Say, is the world really such a bad place?
Only time will tell, for no one human can perceive this properly.
Listen, dear child: it is never too late to change yourself for the better.

Lastly, however, the decision lies with you.
Unless this is how you always wanted to be, of course.
Not to mention the fact that most see themselves as good.
Alas, turning better means to realise your own flaws first.

Granted, some are aware of their own failings.
Although not many try to correct them.
Is it not fine to have faults, you wonder?
Answering this question is out of my power; only you can know the answer.

You only barely remember gentle light when you wake up; it is early in the morning, way too early for anyone to be up. What you do hear is the patter of rain outside of the window, though. That is something you found does not change no matter where you go; the rain sounds the same everywhere.

You stifle one yawn and roll out from under the covers; after getting up, you pull the curtains aside and look outside. The streetlights are still on, so it must be nighttime; your alarm says it is around five in the morning.

That aside however, you can see drops of rain falling; the faint light illuminates them from behind and each one produces a little splash on the soaked ground.

You could go back to sleep... but right now, you do not really feel like it. Might as well start early for once. What homework Spring gives you, you think you can finish later in class... so there is nothing stopping you from doing that thing Bianca talked about one time you asked her what she likes.

But first of all, you make your bed -but put the blanket aside- and dart to the nearest bathroom to wash your faces; the cold water helps in waking up and gets the sleep out of your eyes. After wiping yourself dry and putting the towels back, you quickly rush back to your room to get dressed for the day.

Once that is done too, you double-check that Ludger is properly covered and open up the window; a rush of cold air comes in at once, making you shiver a little as you push two chairs in front of the opening. After getting the blanket you put aside earlier, you sit down and cocoon yourself into the warmth.

Then you can look out into the darkness, listening to the loud patter of water hitting stone and earth and glass and everything else. As you watch, the sky gets gradually brighter and you know that the sun is rising behind this dark curtain. The nightlights are turned off at some point while you just stare out into the rain; it never lets up and you come to enjoy just watching and doing nothing as you rest your head on your shoulder.

Bianca was right, this is really relaxing. Though doing it this early might have been a bad idea with how sleepy it makes you; at least the cold air hitting your face keeps you somewhat awake. The smell is nice, too; another thing that does not change, the way the air smells when rain hits.

It is only when you hear shuffling from behind that you turn a head, to find a corgi digging himself out of his blanket and yawning. When he sees you looking, he yips sleepily and wanders over to lie by your feet. Sparks dance over his fur once in a while and he radiates more warmth from the ground up. Heh, definitely the best dog in the world.

After staying like this for a while longer however, your alarm starts to beep and you hurry over to shut it up; how in the world did you just lose two hours watching the rain?

...whatever. Time to get going.
A few minutes are spent getting your hair in order, then you pack your things for school and make your way to the cafeteria for breakfast. Ludger cheerfully follows you outside to take a little walk... though you transform into Primordial Moon first, just so you do not have to change when getting back inside. Any water that hits the corgi just turns into steam and is gone again, too. Magic is actually a pretty nice thing to have.

It is also a good thing that you can just order breakfast for two and bring the rest along to class.

. . .

There is... nothing special happening throughout your lessons. However, you do notice in-between questions that Spring keeps looking out of the window and into the light dripple; with how she frowns a little and seems concerned, there has to be something going on.

You considered asking, but that would probably not do much. Adults have this habit of not telling you even when you know they are bothered by something. Not that you do not understand, they are probably trying to appear strong for everyone younger than them... but that does not mean you have to like it.

It is just a few minutes before your last break that you notice a weak flash outside of the window; as you turn one head to look, you quickly turn the other as well to make sure you are not seeing things. Autumn is in the courtyard, with half a dozen other people. One is Strength... but the rest you did not expect to see again anytime soon.

Soul has her wings folded and her back to the window you are looking through; Igni stands with her head held low... actually none of them looks happy or anything like it. Truth and her slime are there, as are Mirror and Iron.

Soul Queller, Ignition Sentinel, Eye of Truth, Mirror Memento and Iron Memento... they are all Yggdrasil-girls, so what are they doing here? Autumn brought them, so that was probably what Spring was thinking about.

It is only after class and lunch that the bell tolls and Strength calls everyone into the town hall again; the girls from Yggdrasil are in the first row, flanked by Summer and Spring while Strength seems to wait for everyone to gather. The room is actually filled with people today; it seems as if everyone from Kibo is here.

"Thank you for making it this quickly" is how Strength starts; her frown seems etched onto the delicate face and you can see how tense she is on that big stage. "I know this is not a good time after we saw off the dead just yesterday, but the situation is too dangerous to ignore."

Her gaze wanders over the people gathered before snapping back to the first row; none of them responds as she motions for them. "We got an emergency call last night and Autumn just returned with this handful of girls from our sister-group Yggdrasil. They are the only survivors of an attack on their stronghold in New York-"

What?

You perk up in an instant, the same moment as the surprised/concerned/alarmed/scared murmuring starts all around you. Yggdrasil was attacked? But by who?

"-as well as a separate attack on Abyss Knight's expedition that left the city a few days ago", Strength cuts through the many voices and silences them. You can see her shiver a little, but her posture relaxes just a moment later. Your own thoughts are with her words, though; Strength said that those five are the only ones that survived.

Does that mean... Red and Purple... and Dragon and Grace... and even Knight herself... they are all dead? And what about this other girl, Hand of Fate?

Are they... can they really...?

Your hand is wrapped into another pair and you quickly blink a few times, turning to Ana by your side. She squeezes gently before letting go with one hand and slinging it around your back. She understands...

Wetness rolls down your cheeks and you lean into the one-armed hug as best as you can while trying to make sense of the sudden tightness in your chest. It feels so weird, so... so unreal. You talked to them just last week, how can they be... dead?

"I see quite a few faces that met the girls and got along with them before joining us here and I'm sorry I have to tell it to you like this. Please be strong for now, I need all of you to hear what our friends had to say on the matter."

Strength had been waiting before and she does it again, giving everyone time to calm down; your friend receives a grateful nod while you wipe your eyes and take a deep breath. There are some other girls watching you, some in sympathy and others with curiosity. At least it was not bad enough to make Ludger jump up so far; he is still curled up by your feet.

Once the atmosphere turned back to somber, Strength herself sighs and motions for the girls in front of her again. "From what we gathered, the attack on New York was carried out by an unknown; a large dragon entered the city and tore it to pieces over several hours, alongside almost every Magical Girl living in it. Any attempts to fight back were near meaningless. Ignition Sentinel ended the fight by killing it off after her partner weakened it."

Igni flinches and your own chests tighten painfully. Dragon is not here.

"I know I said it is dead, but we can't be sure that was the only one of its kind. Whether it was a Magical Girl or something else we don't know, but something like it might come here in time... but I will get to that later. The next part is... more disturbing."

Despite of what she said before and that you should keep your attention on what Strength says, you have trouble keeping the tears from rolling again; your eyes burn a little and only constant wiping makes you capable of actually seeing anything. This...this hurts. They were your friends!

"You see, Knight's... Abyss Knight's expedition was paid a visit by someone we call the White Reaper."

That... is a name you do not know. It does draw your curiousity and you finally manage to snap out of it and listen properly again. Who or what would they call like that? Going from how most people around do not seem to know it either, this is not something everyone knows. Strength looks... pale.

"That person is... very much known to everyone who fought in the war. The White Reaper appeared all around the world, killed people of interest and then left; not once did anyone manage to even scratch her during the months she was active in."

"She vanished around the time the war ended", Summer supplies from her seat when Strength stops. "We didn't hear about her since those days, or at least no appearance was documented. With how powerful she is, we can't even be sure she is actually a Magical Girl and not something else, from beyond Earth."

There is a momentary silence as everyone digests this. At first you wonder if someone that powerful can really exist, but then you remember the dream you had; the great leaders of the Unified Light were talking about a single Magical Girl doing incredible things. Could that be her? But why was she doing these things?

"Actually... I can confirm that she's a Magical Girl."
That is Truth in the front; she looks at Summer but you can tell that everyone is waiting for her to continue. Even Strength wandered over and has her arms folded. Truth fidgets a little before continuing: "I... don't remember much. We were on a ship at that time and I was the only one outside when she came. After I saw her, I only had a moment before she killed me. But... that was enough for me to at least see a little bit about her. I couldn't find out her full name, but I know that she is a Magical Girl. One of her Affinities is Annihilation."

"She killed you?"

That was Spring this time; her question makes Truth nod slightly. "It's hard to explain in detail, but I can regrow my body from my blob."

The slime gurgles in response from below her chair, then it wiggles out of there and builds itself up so everyone can see it. "And she didn't kill it after I died... it happened so fast I don't even remember getting hit."

While the blue thing makes itself small again, Strength offers a nod to Truth and starts pacing around on-stage. "I see. Thank you for telling us about that. To get back on topic... the only casualty from this attack was Abyss Knight herself. We don't know why the Reaper would go after her, though... yes?"

One of the boys had his arm raised a moment earlier; he lowers it once Strength looks at him and asks a question: "What does she look like? Is there a way to tell we're standing in front of that person?"

There is some agreeing murmuring from the sides, though you feel a little weird right now. How long has it been since you heard any deep boy-voices? Uh, male voices, that is.

"Good question... or so I'd like to say. With the White Reaper, you know when you stand in front of her. Remember when Nightmare Child was hanging with us a few weeks ago?"

The boy who asked earlier nods slowly and so do a few others you see. Strength continues: "If Night's transformed, you know it is her even without seeing her. Same with that one, her presence alone will tell you who you're up against."

A few moments pass and after she says nothing, the same boy slowly shifts in his seat before speaking up again. "Um... it would still be nice to know what to look out for just in case... you kind of didn't say anything about how she looks like..."

"What, looking for a girlfriend?"

The sudden shift in tone has you blink; a few others such as Summer laugh and another boy slaps the one that asked on the shoulder with a sly grin. He himself is blushing a little and quickly shakes his head, but Strength waves him off before he can speak. "Yeah, I know. It's just... okay, show of hands: who wants to know it anyway?"

You raise your hands along with... basically everyone else. Strength's eyes rest with you a moment longer than with anyone else and she sighs, turning around to hide her frown. "Okay... I really didn't want to single someone out, but... Moon, care to come up here?"

Moon?
You?

Eyes quickly wander and a few people whisper with each other, fingers are pointed your way as you think about it for a moment. What does she want with you?

Shrugging off the thought, you get up with one body and watch yourself walk up the stairs; you will know what it is in a moment anyway. Strength asks you to transform, so you do with the words you know so well. "I am the custodian of all, Magical Girl Primordial Moon!". Your power radiates out from below your skin and light illuminates the room a little more; it shines gently... and everyone's eyes are on you now.

You did not think this through; are you supposed to say anything or do something now? It really looks different from up here, but... the best you can do not to fidget is to clutch your scepter tightly while Strength walks around you once. She is quiet for a but a moment, yet it feels a lot longer than that to you. The girls from Yggdrasil are watching also... and Iron is shivering heavily, her eyes fixated on you.

"I don't know why, but Moon here shares almost all of the Reaper's traits. The only real differences are that she is quite a bit smaller... and the Reaper wields a waraxe instead of a stave."

You freeze up for a moment as she explains; why would another Magical Girl look just like you? Everyone is supposed to be really different, so why would that happen?

Also... Strength got scared when she saw you for the first time.

For a moment, you want to ask her right now if that is why; but you are in front of everyone who lives here. Now is not a good time. You will bring it up later, definitely. For now however, you just stand quietly and wait until the Japanese girl pets your head and gives you a little push towards your seat. "Sorry... and thanks for going along with me."

You can't help but offer her a reassuring smile in response. "It's okay."

And it is; you do not mind helping with something like this. Going by how relieved she is looking though, Strength was bothered by it. You hover over the first three rows, make a loop for vanity's sake, and then detransform the moment you sit.

There is more whispered conversation, though all of it turns into a somewhat loud humming all around you. Strength lets it happen for a bit... at first it seems as if she just likes indulging the others, but then you see her clenching and unclenching her fist a few times. So she needs to calm down, too...

Once that happened however, Strength taps her microphone a few times to make everyone shut up. "These were the two important things... and they got me thinking. There's someone going after Magical Girls for some reason and the Reaper reappeared. I'm confident I can take anything that gets thrown at me, but... as we saw last week, enough of those things can keep even me busy. That's why all the dates you had scheduled for the afternoon are cancelled. Sorry guys, but all Magical Girls are taking part in an extended training session today."

. . .
Line Break Recognised
. . .

There was... surprisingly little resistance to the training. Everyone might still be shaken from what you heard, though. In fact, your own head... heads?... are spinning a little. That was a lot. You would like to talk to the Yggdrasil-girls, but Strength said to give them some space for today... they do not have to train with the others, either. You could see why, with how beaten they looked.

"Do you know any Magical Girl who looks like you?"
You shake your head in Ana's direction and continue on your way outside; training will start in twenty minutes, so you need to get some water and towels and... maybe old gym clothes? You have not really done much exercising lately.

"Sorry, Ana... I don't know anyone who looks even just a bit like me."

Your friend kept quiet the whole time during the assembly. That was her serious part coming through again, the one all the teachers liked her for. Now that it is over and you wander the slightly wet streets, she is talking again.

However, Budding Flower is also with you instead of Sky today. You do not mind her, though it is a bit weird how little she speaks most of the time. On the other hand, I'm not talking much more right now...

. . .
Line Break Recognised
. . .

After you all got your things and went back to the training grounds, everyone is waiting for Strength.

When you do see her walk up with her transformation already active, she has Soldier Supreme by her side. Her transformed clothes are clean and neatly done, but she obviously does not seem to understand what is going on. There is also another girl right next to them.

When Strength sees people looking, she just makes a dismissive motion. "Don't mind her. I just can't really keep one of my girls sitting in that cell when this is for everyone, so she is joining us."

"I will keep an eye on her, so rest assured", is what the other girl says; the large thing around her writhes and screeches a little bit as it readjusts, her expressionless eyes staying on Soldier Supreme's form.

You can see a few familiar faces here and there, with Ludger exploring around at his own leisure already.

"With that out of the way, let's get started. We're doing an hour or two of self-study, so practice whatever you want. After that, we're going on to sparring and joint exercises. Transform at will and let's go!"

You join the cheering with smiles while Strength lifts her own body with one hand and raises the other far above your heads.

After that however, you have to think about what to practice. There were some ideas you had especially for your sunlight scepter.

So you take some space -Ana and Flower are watching- before lifting your weapon properly and smashing it into the ground.

(Sunlight Scepter: +63 Base Damage, +15 Discipline, +5802 Veil of the Solar Goddess, +851 dice = 6,731 Total Damage)

You can feel your magic surge out of the weapon's tip on impact, rushing forward and brushing past yourself almost gently; it ruptures the ground around you while also heating up the air a bit. But you do think you can keep a hold of it to make it hit a smaller area. So you try again.

(Sunlight Scepter: +63 Base Damage, +15 Disicipline, +5802 Veil of the Solar Goddess, +3072 dice = 8,952 Total Damage)

It comes stronger this time, but you can hold the magic in somehow for a little moment. It still tears up the ground a lot, but... there is a tiny bit of less scorched earth forming a ring around you. Baby steps.

The other magic you are holding onto swirls around within you, so you go and start practicing the other thing with Moon's powers... or rather, not. With how you are now, maybe...?

"Supernova!"
It is the same light surging forth from your body in the air, even though this spell was not supposed to be cast by Primordial Moon.

You notice a few people watching you with interest, but most everyone is doing their own thing. Ana is right next to you, though; she looks confused. "But... that's Sun's spell?"

You shrug and let the air cool down again, then throw your friend a mischievous look. "I'm Sun and Moon both."
"But that's cheating!"

Her indignant pout looks so cute you can only barely suppress your giggle; with one body, that is. Hopefully her ears are not as good as her nose is.

After a while of your practicing however, you notice that Flower is watching you -Moon- rather intently. So you turn to her to listen to whatever she wants. "Can I help you?"

Flower fidgets a little before nodding. "Yes, actually. I was wondering... could you help me practice? It's... I was trying to use my Lifebringer better, but it just doesn't work without an actual target. Um... Ana told me you're strong, so I thought you wouldn't mind..."

You blink over the sudden flood of words and process them; Flower wants you to be her target, for whatever her "Lifebringer" is... probably her weapon. She... does not look strong from what you saw, so... after everything, maybe you can give it a try? Maybe it helps you learn your own limits.

"Sure. Go ahead."

You stick your scepter into the ground and wait for the other girl; Flower fiddles with her shirt for a moment, but then she nods gratefully. Then the leaves sprouting from her arms and back start moving, constricting you within a moment.

Ana was a bit away fiddling around with her trumpet, but she becomes attentive again and looks over the moment half of your body is wrapped into those firm leaves. Actually they are warm and feel a little fleshy... ew.

It takes a moment for you to realise that Flower does not hurt you at all. She is looking at you with extreme concentration and you can feel something sliding over your back and throat, but this is it.

"Um... when do you start?"
"I'm trying!"

She starts frowning and the fleshy leaves move again.

She lets all of them wind around your throat this time and seems to pull and push with all her might, but it still does nothing to you. There are more people watching now and you can see even Spring looking over from whatever she was doing... this is a little embarassing.

After a few more seconds, Flower sighs and retracts the leaves before gently massaging them. "Sorry... I am just... not happy about being so weak."

Oh... so that is what bothers her. Hm... you do not really have anything to do as Moon for now, so helping out some more ought to be fine. "It's okay if you want to try again, I don't mind helping a friend."

"...a friend? We're... friends?"

Flower looks oddly hopeful about that. She is Ana's friend, so that made her your friend last week already. "Of course."

With how bright she starts beaming, you are sure you said the right thing. Ana shows you a thumbs up from behind Flower's back, too.

"...Would you mind me joining in?"

A slight turn reveals Glory standing nearby; she sounded hesitant before and fiddles with her hands. "I... do have a few spells I would like to practice."

"I thought you didn't have anything to protect yourself?"
Your question makes her avert her gaze slightly and scrape her foot on the ground. "One of my... abilities is to take over unique abilities and spells from Contractors when they die. I gathered together a few things over the years, though I could never really use them. If they had known I was not helpless, my chances of escape would have been gone entirely. It... it was a risk I couldn't take. I hope you understand."

After her explanation ends, she just stands there and waits for you to say something. In fact, you stop practicing with the Sunlight Scepter to exchange a look with Ana over the matter... but it is Flower who speaks up first: "I... think it is okay. It must have been hard to be in there for so long... anyway, your spells?"

Glory relaxes gradually as she nods and looks at you questioningly; you nod as well, go back to your swings and take some more distance to give her space to work. "Go ahead."

"...thank you. I will start with the weaker one... at least I think it is weaker... at the start. Temporal Fracture!"

You do not have the time to make sense of what she said, seeing that the space around you and within you begins to break.

But your magic swipes aside what is within you and there is no more than a tingling on your skin. You shiver a little at how wrong it feels, though.

Glory was watching this carefully and nods slightly to herself before turning to Flower. "May I take another turn? This spell in particular is weird... and not just in its execution. I used it a few times back in that place and it ended up growing stronger each time."

You both give your okay and she casts again; even though you know what is coming, it feels so incredibly weird.

Something crackles and the air starts smelling weird by this point; Glory stops and shakes out her hands for some reason, then she shakes her head a few times. "I think this is enough, thank you for your help."

She bows her head for some reason and you respond to her easily this time: "You're welcome. But what about your other spells?"

Glory hesitates at that before tilting her head and nodding. "You're right. I don't want to use Magic Missile on you because I am not sure you are strong enough to take it, but... Onion Layer!"

A weakly glowing layer appears all over her form within an instant, its shine vanishing within seconds. Glory bows again before tensing up a little. "This is a defensive Spell I know; seeing that you did not mind being my target, I can now return the favour. Go ahead."

This time you are the one to share a look with Flower before you nod and bring up your scepter. Your magic makes you float and helps you realign as you shoot towards your new friend. Then you swing.

You frown a little when your scepter simply pings off of her skin without doing anything. You know there is not much you can do on the offensive as moon, but this is still dumb.

"...it seems I am quite sturdy."

You pout in response to that and are glad your glow hides the blush somewhat. Then you have an idea; Supernova actually worked, so what about Scorching Sunlight? "Can I... can I try a Spell?"

Glory thinks about that for a moment, then she casts Onion Layer again... and again... and again. In the end, she nods for you to continue. "Go ahead, I cast as many layers as I can right now."

"Okay... Scorching Sunlight!"

It shines brightly as it crashes into Glory, actually making her shields shine in a radiant white before punching through. You can see her dress being burned in places, though the remaining light just splashes against her form before flickering out.

That only leaves White Glory in her torn attire, with tiny burns on her form that actively pulse. You quickly cast Soothing Moonlight once you can to restore her while the girl shakes herself a few times, like a wet dog. "Brr, that was such a weird feeling..."

(White Glory Health: 18,678

At least she did not get actually hurt by you casting this; it is a strong spell after all. Glory seems to be pretty strong too, though.

Overall however, with how there are all different kinds of people trying to do stuff, you like it here. Kibo is a nice place.

. . .
Line Break Recognised
. . .

After your little show, more of the weaker girls came up to ask you for help; with Spring being the only other person who can actually take a strong hit, everyone who needed an actual target was asking her.

So you spent the rest of your time helping others by standing still and letting all kinds of attacks wash over you while also doing the boring part of trying to get a grasp on your magical explosion.

Thanks to Summer giving you a few pointers in-between, you have it somewhat under control for now. Both of you use similar power, so her advice worked really well... though there might be other things you can do with this later.

Now however, Strength claps her hands with a loud ringing noise and calls out to everyone: "Okay, ladies! We spent enough time playing around, now it's time to get to the fun stuff!... yes, what is it?"

One of the other girls had her hand raised and starts speaking while everyone else wanders closer to form a circle around the Japanese girl. "Can you show us your spells first? I'm curious..."

You can see even Soldier Supreme perking up from the side of the open field... which is now riddled with holes and black spots and the like. Whoops? Anyway, everyone seems to agree and you have to admit to yourself that you are curious also. What kind of magic does the strongest Magical Girl have?

Strength herself looks around for a moment before shrugging and turning to Spring... who suddenly turns really pale. "I... don't mind showing you one. Be my target, Spring?"

The last part actually sounds more pleading than anything else and Spring thinks about it for a long moment; even Summer does not seem sure about it. That makes you wonder how strong Strength actually is.

"Okay... but please give me a minute to prepare."
Strength nods and the circle breaks up into a crescent to give her free space in one direction; Spring walks that way and until she stands a bit away, with only the empty landscape behind her. After that, she starts casting her own Spell and only gives the sign for Strength after she cast it four times. Sky could only barely scratch her after a single casting... you exchange uneasy looks with your friends over the thought.

Once she gives the okay, Strength takes a deep breath and works her large metal fingers, then points them at Spring with a wide smirk. "So I heard Sky showed you who's boss a few days ago. Time to reassert my dominance, don't you think?

There are a few mechanical clicks coming from within the large hand while the other Magical Girl starts to look very unhappy with her decision to help out right about now. "Prepare Yourself! Bullet Hell!"

But the magic around her skin holds, not giving way and even shining through the curtain of steel Strength lays around her for several seconds. The noise is eardrum-shattering and the ground all around her gets torn apart.

When it ends and you can see Spring again, she is looking as if she spent the last few minutes in a storm; her hair is in disarray, her eyes are partly unfocussed and her dress is... basically gone. There are only a few scraps left covering her body.

In difference to last time, no one whistles now. You quickly cast your Soothing Moonlight to repair her dress before things get weird again. Aside from you however, nobody talks for a while as Strength pumps her fist a few times; she then nods and looks around as the other girls start clapping. You join after another moment.

(Spring's armour restored)

No matter how scary it was, Strength was also really impressive there. The ground around her is no longer visible with how many spent shells cover it, slowly fading out of sight... and the patch of grass Spring stood on is a scorched mess now.

After the applause dies down, Flower pushes herself closer and shily pulls at Strength's hoodie for a moment. "Um... can you tell us how you got so strong? I'm..."

There is a momentary pause; everyone understands why Flower is asking... and you are kind of curious about Strength's response, too. The older girl stands still with only her mechanical tail slowly wagging from left to right; then she raises one hand and gently pats Flower's head. "I got this way by focussing on what I do well and bringing it to mastery; sure, there's stuff I'm really bad at in comparison, but it worked out for me. So in general... take the things you do well and get good with them before you try to do new stuff."

"That's easy to say for a Legend", a new voice chimes in from the side. You can see Ana blink and turn quickly while doing the same with one head, the other's gaze staying on Strength... who started smirking and lifted Flower onto her shoulder.

The other person is someone you think you might have seen before, but you have no idea where. She wears some kind of robe in all black that looks really weird against her pale skin. You can tell her eyes are going over everyone within moments, too... and she is small, maybe even smaller than Bianca. Autumn is just behind her, wings folded and scythe in hand with a cocky smirk.

"Night!"

Your gaze flicks to Ana, who beams at the newcomer. She... Night... Nightmare Child raises one hand in greeting before turning her gaze back to Strength. The leader of Kibo is... looking happy as she walks over to high-five her. "Good to see you back. You're earlier than I expected."

"I figured that flying back for an hour would go faster than actually teleporting", is what Autumn responds with. You are not sure what to make of this exchange... though you were wondering where Autumn was all day. She brought the girls from Yggdrasil and was nowhere to be seen afterwards.

"In fact, this is perfect. Mind being our boss battle for today?"
"...I am tired... but very well."

Nightmare Child's gaze wanders over the gathered Magical Girls once, staying on Ana and Sky for a moment longer than on anyone else. You are not exactly sure what to make of this, is she not supposed to be incredibly strong?

"You win if I die, anyone who gets as much as a scratch or is immobilised by my Zombie Nightmares is out."
"Sounds good."
"Alright..."

You quickly take distance, together with everyone else. This is going way too fast, it was sparring just five minutes ago! Now you are supposed to fight one of the most powerful girls ever to her death?!

"War never changes, and neither does the world. I am Magical Girl Nightmare Child."
Her voice is cold and sounds almost hollow as this sickly, wrong light starts wrapping around her.

The moment you see her transformed state, it hits you. A feeling of dread more powerful than you ever felt before; it crawls under your skin and makes you feel small in comparison to the leviathan standing in front of you. Neither of your bodies dares moving for fear of drawing her attention and, ultimately, your end.

If she wanted to, she could squish you like a little ant.

"Horror of War."
She gently aligns her scythe with the ground while casting, light dancing around her fingers and making forms rise from the ground.

(Horror of War: dice scuttled, 500 summons)

Zombie Nightmares are rising from the ground everywhere, forming a dark horde behind the Magical Girl; they are all taller than her, yet she alone feels like a giant to you.

"Eva, Rico..."
You flinch when hands grasp your shoulders and only barely manage not to hit Ana with your scepters; the feeling of dread is still strong, but at least you can move again after she snapped you out of it.

(False Existence: Nightmare Child Health: 31,000 + 7,750 = 38,850)

And then she is moving, together with her nightmares. You quickly blast spells into the horde together with two dozen others, but they only take out a few where others quickly take their place.

Then they reach you and you no longer see where she is; you quickly rush forward and slam your scepter into a cluster of zombies, trying your best to thin them out.

It bites through all of your magic despite your attempt to push it away with another surge of light. There is nothing you can do... but it does not hurt much this time, either; a little burning sensation on your cheek, but that is it.

When you look up, you can see Nightmare Child staring at you with a slight frown... so you give in to your instincts and lower your scepter. "You got me, I'm out."

Once you say that, the pressure finally weakens and you receive a curt nod before the terrifying girl turns around. "I see. Thank you for your honesty."

You quietly make your way over to the loser's corner.

In the end, Nightmare Child won without taking another hit. You dutifully healed her back up once the whole thing was over... and now she is standing at the side, talking with the Seasons (who actually did not join the whole thing). At least she detransformed and you can finally take deep breaths again.

Though... after this encounter, you sit at the side for quite a while to think. You already heard how awful one could feel when meeting Nightmare Child, but this was far worse than you would have ever expected. The fact you actually managed to hurt her seems like a miracle in retrospect.

Strength also notices that most girls look pretty beat after this; you saw that some actually took the time to fight the remaining zombies as training. You see her shake her head before she wanders up to the other high-ranked Magical Girls. "Can't really call it a nice workout with how fast you kicked me out, but you won fair and square. Come on, pick your prize."

You watch the exchange with slight confusion over what she means... and why her tail is wagging again, though she seems to try keeping it still. Autumn facepalms, Summer and Winter just shake their heads while walking off... and Spring giggles a little.

Nightmare Child though, she holds Strength's gaze for a few seconds before grinning. "I find myself with an extended vacation. If I'm allowed to pick, I would like you to let me stay here for the time being."

You can see Strength deflating for some reason; her tail even droops a little before she catches herself and grins back. "You know you could have just asked for that one; are you sure you want nothing else from me?"

There is... something different there; maybe it is how Strength speaks or how she leans slightly closer to the other girl... or maybe it is just your imagination, but this looks different from the normal banter. A few other girls are watching the exchange, too... but you do not really know any of them.

On the other hand, Sky is right next to you at the moment and she is a few years older. "Sky? What is Strength doing there?"

She wipes some ichor out of her hair in response, fiddling with the goopy stuff for a moment and turning pink; you can see it easily with how pale she is. "Um... well, I would think that Strength is flirting there... I had no idea..."

Flirting... that was... what you do with someone you want to go out with, right? So Strength and Night are... something, a couple maybe? But then again, Strength's attempts do not seem to work out at all with how the responses are.

In the end, the banter ends with Nightmare Child wandering off -after promising Ana to talk to her later- and everyone else sitting or standing around. Strength seems a little crestfallen now, but she perks up quickly and looks around. Then she looks up at the setting sun and sighs. "Ugh, time sure flies. We've got to do this again sometime soon... but for now, class dismissed. Have a nice evening, girls!"

You join the cheering just because; then you realise that you have a free evening. Of course you will have dinner first, but after that...

What will you do? Choose two:

[] Ana mentioned the sewers before; now is a great time to take a look

[] Maybe now is a good time to thank Chi for her hard work?

[] You did not really get to do any exercises, so you will do them now

[] Talk to Strength; something bothers her and maybe you can help

[] Just find a nice spot to lie down and enjoy today's last sunlight; you need to think

[] Double Down
(This option has you default to the other chosen option with both bodies; if it is not chosen, you will have one body present for each choice)

Beyond Good And Evil
[X] Talk to Strength; something bothers her and maybe you can help
[X] Just find a nice spot to lie down and enjoy today's last sunlight; you need to think

It takes you a little bit to decide what to do; today will be a day of new experiences indeed.

After dinner with your friends, you bid them goodnight and split up. One body's path goes toward the dorm as you have to find Strength, the other wanders outside to look for a nice spot to lie down. You ultimately decide to just try with the meadow a little bit outside of the city border while still looking around.

After just a few seconds of lying down on the hard ground -the fluffy-looking grass betrayed you- you transform into Primordial Sun; the feeling of grass poking into your back ceases after that... and you can hover a few centimetres above the actual ground. Much better.

Looking up and straight at the sinking sun is nice, even though you are still searching and have to ask for directions from Spring at one point.

Your mind wanders a little, to what you heard earlier.
Every last member of Yggdrasil except the five you saw is dead.
Your chests clench and you have trouble walking straight for a moment over the pain this thought brings. It hurts.

Half-remembered faces flash in front of your mind's eye, of how weird Red and Purple were... and Knight, nice despite the fact she always kept her distance. Or so many other friendly girls, who took care of you without having to. They really did not deserve this, however it happened...

"Such heavy thoughts on such a young mind."
Huh?

You blink, then turn your head to see who snuck up on you... and pause. You pause in your searching as well to concentrate, for next to you sits her. No words need to be spoken, no explanations need to be given; some part of you relates to her in an instant, acknowledging her as one you belong to.

She is...

Not human, yet so much more. Not related, yet closer to you than any of your actual relatives ever were. Where looking upon Nightmare Child made you feel like an insect about to be crushed, seeing her brings forth the feeling of being a beloved child; weak and small all the same, but protected and cared for. She is anything and everything, god to this world and the world itself.

Warmth blossoms all throughout your bodies while Gaia herself... giggles a little. She then moves to lie down next to you, looking up at the sky. "You're such a sweet child, my dear sun and moon. So different from your sister, yet so similar. I'm glad to have met you beforehand already."

You are... genuinely happy with how her shoulder only barely brushes against yours. Being with her is... so overwhelming that you actually have to sit down your other body for a minute or two, to focus better on Gaia. She looks so relaxed lying there, despite the heavy ground... or is that actually an insult, with her being the world and all?

"Pffft...tehehe"
And she giggles again. You pout at her a little bit, but stop once you feel a hand coming to lie on your own. It is big and soft and warm and squeezes gently. "I can tell of all the things bothering you; you're not alone in this, yes?"

A faint breeze makes her dress flutter and the graceful features remain utterly relaxed, though she has one of her eyes on you at all times until you nod your understanding. She really is always there, guiding and helping you. "I wanted you to know this, my dear. Grieving for those close to you is perfectly normal, but I hope you can get over it in time. There is much to be done and soon... you will answer Bianca's call for aid, will you not?"

""...of course I will.""
"Of course you will what?"

You flinch a little and turn your other head around, only to find two older girls looking down at where you are sitting. Strength and... Night of all people. It takes you a moment longer to realise you used both of your bodies to reassure Gaia, but then you blush a little and avert your gaze from Strength. "Nothing. Um... do you have some time?"

Gaia is now openly laughing at you and pokes your side a few times, but you just pout back and suppress the urge to squeal as best as you can. Meanwhile, both older Magical Girls give you curious looks; Night seems to relax for some reason, some kind of tension leaving her body as her gaze wanders over your face a few times, flicking here and there. You do the same to her, taking in the gently curved chin and curled lips; her eyes are green and the weird robe-thing she wears hides most of her figure.

Strength throws her companion a look to which she nods, then offers you a hand and a smirk. "Sure, what's on your mind?"

Now it is you looking back and forth between them while Gaia keeps quiet; when you give her a look also, she just shrugs and waves you off. "Finish that first, I can wait a few minutes."

"Thank you..."
You take Strength's hand and let her pull you to your feet with ease; she does not let go afterwards, keeping your hand in her bigger one as you look around. "Um... it's kind of private, so I don't want to talk about it right here in the hallway. That's okay, right?"

You can see understanding run over their faces before Strength gives Night a nudge. "Guess it's just me and Moon then, I hope you don't mind?"

Gaia giggles again while the other Magical Girl says it will be alright and wanders off, then she speaks up: "I didn't really come here for anything pressing... though there is one thing we should get out of the way soon. You're confused right now."

It is no question; Gaia already knows, so she just states the facts. There is no need to lie to her, either; even if you did, she would know. So you just nod, your other body quietly following Strength to wherever she thinks is a good place to talk. With the Earth's next words however, you stumble and only barely manage to catch yourself: "Most of all, you will need a name."

You take a few seconds to stare at her in wonder, noting how the fading light and your own illuminate the different colours in her hair; before you can speak about already having names however, she interrupts you with a single finger raised. "I know. Each of these bodies, each girl making you already has a name. However, you are more than the sum of your parts. Next to me is Rico, following Strength in the other half of the city is Evangeline... but neither is good to call the both of you, hmm?"

...

She is right, is what you have to admit to yourself. It feels wrong to call yourself either Eva or Rico and meshing both together would be worse. But... "Is it really okay to just take a new name? My mother chose both of them..."

"But your mother would have trouble understanding what happened to you", is what Gaia answers once your words fade out. Her smile is gentle as she sits up and carefully pulls you into her lap. "Even Bianca might need a while to get her head around this... and she won't understand your potential until you've already become more, just like with this connection of yours. You are my precious sun and moon... so if you allow, I would be honoured to give you a name for your joint spirit to be called by."

Arms wrap around you and Gaia falls quiet as you ponder; though you do not get much time for it because Strength finally reaches what looks like her room and offers you to enter first. It is... messy; so messy that you can barely see the floor under clothes and paper and many other stuff, which makes you stare for a moment. Then Strength closes the door behind herself and motions for you to sit on her unmade bed. "Sorry about that, I usually clean up when I'm expecting visitors... but I like my chaos otherwise."

Some part of you can emphasize with that, but the rest of you screams it down with righteous indignation. Not that you show any of this on your face, simply nodding in response to the older girl. "It's fine, I don't mind it."

You do mind, oh how you mind... but aside from Gaia having another giggling fit, you also remember that this is not what you are here for.

Strength takes a seat in an office chair opposite to you and shows her curiousity while you tense up a little; this is it now, you will be really invasive of her privacy and really did not think this through-

"It is quite alright, my dear. I would have stopped you if this would go too far."
You relax a little bit again and trust Gaia's words on this; if there is anyone who knows, it should be her after all. Having half of you wrapped in a warm hug helps a lot with that, too.

"Um... I wanted to talk about the assembly... about the White Reaper..."
The other girl immediately stiffens and you avert your gaze, waiting a moment before looking up at her again. "I... you said I look just like her... and you started acting weird over the topic... and... I don't know if I am related to her in any way, but if I am, I..."

You cut yourself off and try to make the ground swallow you somehow; you just started babbling and it made no sense, none at all. Heat rushes all over your face, but Strength does not say anything; she does relax a tiny bit, though. Her hands are still clenched, but the hard line on her forehead is gone.

When she does speak, it is calm; no trace of her usual energy. "Yeah, you do. I met her, once. No idea how I'm still alive... but don't tell the others, yes? Don't need everyone knowing that there's an unknown I can't take."

You nod slowly, understanding what she means with ease; you are a little unsettled about the matter yourself, but not enough to panic. However, you are also curious about this. "You fought with her?"

The question has her bark out a pained laugh. "Hah, 'fought'? Nope, not a single hit. Wouldn't have done me much good anyway. The Reaper plays in a league of her own..."

She trails off before heaving a deep sigh and pressing her palms onto her knees, eyes closed. "She gives you the creeps, same way Night does. Doesn't talk. Heck, I was just a few years older than you when I met her."

She remains silent for a while, leaving you to guess whatever she might be seeing in the darkness of her own head. There are gentle shivers going through her whole body... and after a bit, you shift over so you can put a hand on hers. Maybe it will not do anything, but you do not like to see people unhappy.

Strength for her part gives you a weak smile and actually takes your hand. "Thanks. You're a sweet one."

Then, while still squeezing gently, her face grows much darker. "But you shouldn't spend much time comforting me. I've had years to deal with the sh-stuff I went through, there's people I can go talk to if it's necessary. You're friends with the girls from Yggdrasil, right?"

Oh... yes. You can feel your own face fall at the reminder, the thing you originally wanted to think about when Gaia interrupted. Strengths gently pulls you into an embrace of her own now. "Sorry... but you and Sun are both more mature than I thought ten-year-olds should be. I'm thinking you're good to help tackle this problem. Mirror and Truth seem fine and Iron is just shellshocked... but I'm worried about the other two. They had to actually watch the carnage in New York."

Your stomach churns and your chests are painfully tight, but you listen raptly to everything Strength has to say. In the end, you just nestle yourself up to her side and look up, forcing the tears away for now. "What can I do?"

"Heh."
A strong arm squeezes you against the other girl for a moment, then comes to rest on your shoulder; it is a little tight with both of you sitting there. "You're definitely a sweetheart; I'd date you if you were six... maybe seven years older."

"What about Night?"

Your quick question catches her off-guard, though it stops her from noticing your faint blush; that was a compliment, right?

Strength giggles the same time Gaia does and shrugs lightly. "It's... complicated, I guess. I'm not sure either of us is in the right headspace for an actual relationship, so we take it one step at a time... hehe, want to know the best part about having a girl like her?"

When you only give her a curious glance and wait, Strength smirks. "You get alllll the cuddles. Anyway, back to our friends."

She cuts you off before you can ask about their flirting before. Awww...
At least Gaia has fun, that is something. You pout at her while waiting for Strength, which at least makes her stop giggling about the whole thing. That is worth craning your neck.

"So, I don't know them at all... but you don't know how their situation feels to them in return, so we're both a little lost."

Strength squeezes you a little bit and sighs, as does Gaia for some reason. "Look, if I'm correct, those two will need a lot of time and care. But they don't have something we can actually cure for them. They need to work through it by themselves. Do you understand?"

She remains quiet a little longer even after you told her yes; whatever goes through her mind, you use the time to wonder what exactly might be going on with your friends. Igni and Soul mostly... but for how long can someone be sad?

"Anyway", Strength finally continues and you turn a little to meet her gaze. "What we can and should do is to be there for them. Not coddle them or pity them, but be there. Talk to them if they want to, leave them be otherwise. Spend time with them, make sure they do not shut themselves off for too long. The most important thing is that we do not push too much and keep them away from stress."

That is... so weird. You can not really remember having a problem before that could not be solved with a warm hug, a few nice words, or a good meal. On the other hand, you had a pretty nice life in comparison to some of them. The gist of it -to you- is to not be overbearing and to make them feel wanted... ugh, so vague. Is there nothing concrete you can do?

It is Gaia who offers a response to that question, even before you can ask it aloud: "Don't be so pushy about it; you aren't the only one involved in this, now are you? Strength has some more things she can do about it, but she doesn't want to bother a girl so much younger with all of it. Help those two feel welcome here, that will be enough."

You can feel her shift for a moment... but there are no more words, even though it seems as if she wanted to say something. That is why you give Strength a thoughtful nod. "Okay... I think I can do that... um... you said you had it, too?"

"Yeah... but I'm a special case there and your big sis helped me get over it. It generally takes a long while and lots of care to get better... but I refused to feel the way I ended up doing after some time. I fought back against myself... and forced myself until the rest of me yielded and I got better."

She lets that stand for a moment, but immediately turns your head so you have to look her right in the eyes; Strength's lips are pursed and she frowns. "Just so we're clear on this: I'm an exception there, what I just described to you is not a good way to go about it. So please do not try to replicate it ever... and for Heaven's sake, do not tell anyone about it. Okay?"

She keeps looking at you that way until you nod again, then the hard lines vanish and she gives you a gentle pat. "Thanks. It sucks being where they are now, so you and Sun being around will probably help them."

You ponder that for a moment and decide you will wait for what happens before trying to do more than Strength said; with Gaia telling you it is okay as well, maybe you do not even have to. "I'm glad I can help... but... I guess you want to go find Night now?"

There are a lot more things you can think of talking about to her, but Strength did tell you she likes that girl... in a way. At least you are pretty sure about it, with how her cheeks turn a little pink and the smile becomes more sheepish. "Yeah, I'd like that. She usually doesn't show up more than twice a year... and doesn't stay for long, either."

"That's okay, I think I understand. I always spent as much time as I could with Bianca when she dropped by, too."

You hop down from Strength's lap and smooth out your skirt, taking note of how she relaxes a little; was she tense? You did not even notice if she was. Either way, you wander over to the door and wave. "Thank you for talking to me. See you around!"

Once you are out of the door, Gaia stops her ministrations and lets you sit up properly; the last few rays of the sun are gone now, though your own shine illuminates the surroundings just fine. Even if you were busy with Strength, you did not forget about her. Gaia herself wants to give you a name... a name that is both Eva and Rico together. "But what name would you give me?"

She giggles, then makes it so you sit in front of her instead. You can feel this tingling again all throughout your body, telling you that what you are looking at is more than what you see. Gaia places a finger on her lip for a moment, taking it away only when she answers: "Even if you're only barely in my grasp by now, we won't ever be separated. Heh... Priscilla is your name, my dear. Priscilla Celeste Vescovi."

You open your mouth at first, but stop. Gaia pouts about as fast as you start being unhappy with what she just said. "But... that's not cute at all."

"And neither is Evangeline", she counters before flicking your forehead. "But you can shorten it to a cute Pris, now can't you? You have a middle name also, just because. Talking about either of your bodies specifically would still be Eva and Rico, of course... but yes, you are now Priscilla."

""Hum... Priscilla...""
You are still not so sure about it; a new name for a new you. You try saying it a few times to see if it feels okay to speak.

Gaia gets up after a bit and stretches. "Well, that was fun... but I think a good girl should go to sleep sometime soon. Plus, I really don't need Bianca to be mad at me for keeping you up. Have a good night, Pris."

She pats your head once more before turning away. You blink once... and she is gone, as if she had never been there. Even though you wanted to ask her things, how mean!

Then again, you have a lot to think about as is.

Priscilla... Celeste...
Is it... really okay to just accept a new name? What will your mother say once you see her again and tell her about all the things that happened?

...

In the end, a name is a name, right? You can at least try and see if you like it, that much should be fine; it is something Gaia gave you, after all... actually, how do you even know her name? She did not say, it was just there the moment you saw her. As if you had already known each other for eons, yet never once talked.

This feeling is... weird. It takes you all the way back inside and into your room until the tingling finally stops, the weightlessness and [CONFUSION] abating at last. You shiver and massage your temples over the sudden headaches. At least you are together again, with a corgi to cuddle right there. Which is what you do for a while.

Yet, this night is not peaceful for you; memories of your time in New York keep coming to the forefront of your mind.

. . .

A petite girl slowly wakes beneath the rubble of her home, body battered and broken. Her eyes have trouble adjusting as she tries to sit up and push the debris away.

The last thing Grace remembers is talking to Blaze about their supplies... then a howl from the outside... and nothing.

Bits and pieces give way as she pushes herself out, fear for everyone else grasping coldly around her heart and making her work. Despite the excruciating pain coming from her leg and coursing through her body, despite her wishing to just lie down and hope it stops, Grace gets up.

Not far away is another form, impaled by a stray pipe and crushed with more debris as she was not transformed at the time.

Another roar has her pricking eyes snap upwards, where a monster is dancing in the sky. The tiny Soul Queller is barely visible against its massive form, gracefully dancing around its swipes but unable to do significant damage.

Grace is frozen in place as the monster swoops and smashes into the place she stands at, its violent landing crushing her into paste before she can get herself to move...

All of it has you wake up on a soggy pillow in the morning, your eyes puffy and stinging. Ludger jumped on top of the bed and is curled around your heads as best as he can do with his small body, giving more warmth to you.

So instead of actually getting up, you just pull the drowsy dog into a double-hug. His fur can be cleaned up later...

It is after some time passed that someone knocks on your door; you just call them in, seeing that the time with Ludger helped you calm down. Though you missed breakfast and classes will start soon... ugh.

"Are you really still in bed? We got to go or we're late!"

Oh, it's Ana... and she does not sound happy about the situation. You aren't really happy, either. So you give her a tired look... that has her pause. You can see emotions warring on her face as she starts frowning, lines hardening and softening a few times before she drops her bag and comes to sit with you.

...oh. Your eyes are still red from crying.

"Do you want to skip today? I can tell Spring you don't feel good."
You feel like doing that, but also not. It would be wrong to skip for as long as you can get out of bed; someone has to walk Ludger, too. So you shake your heads and crawl out from below the blanket, pulling your dog along. "No, but thank you."

It is Saturday anyway; classes are halved over the weekends, so you will manage. Though you have some extra work today, with having to air your pillow and clean the bed... and you are hungry, too.

Ana's lips curl upwards a little bit and she helps you fold the blanket; Ludger sits by her feet and watches you work, waiting patiently. She does keep throwing glances your way, though.

"Um... Eva... Rico?"
""Hm?""

After a moment, you remember that she probably does not know how to talk to you right now, so you quickly chime in before she can say anything: "Actually, it's Pris now. Eva and Rico is for either of me, but both of me is Priscilla."

That stops her for a bit; you are already halfway dressed when Ana finally speaks: "Oh... so... Pris...cilla. Pris... hm. Ah, anyway! Do you really feel alright?"

It takes you a minute or two to actually convince her of that; it helps that you get your faces washed and clean, though your tummies growl and demand food. Ugh, you have to tough it out today... and after classes and your own work, it should already be time for lunch anyway...

That still gives you a free afternoon, though.

Absolute Connection and Voting
From this point onwards, all votes will be of the following kind:

[] Option 1
-[] Double Down

[] Option 2
-[] Double Down

[...]
Any and all options will have the Double Down sub-option, which you can add if you want to assign both bodies to any given task instead of just one.

You should therefore keep in mind:
-One body is the default
--Pris assigns bodies to each task at my leisure

-Double Down makes an option count as two actions

-"Option 1 with Double Down" is counted as a different vote than "Option 1 without Double Down"

-If you have an uneven number of actions, this means that one of them is carried out with both bodies per default.

I feel like I should explain how the number of actions comes to be.
Generally, Pris still gets the regular number actions to allocate. Which is two to three for a normal afternoon and one for the evening.

Due to Complete Connection however, she is two people combined and can split up with her two bodies. Depending on her mood for any given voting cycle, that means a part of the amount she gets is doubled, which can range up to all of it.

In the current case up above, Priscilla has 3 actions given. Due to her not being particularly happy today, she wants to spend at least one of them together with herself, i.e. with both bodies. The other two are possible to be split, so turn from 2 to 4.
Overall, we thus reach a total of 5 possible actions, which you can condense back into 3 if you Double Down on two of them.

That is also why uneven numbers always have one action be with both per default; it is a surefire indicator that Pris does not feel like separating the whole time.

PRIMORDIAL Incorporation
[X] Ana is still worried about you after what happened this morning; maybe she will calm down if you spend some time with her?
-[X] Double Down

[X] After what Strength said, you ought to talk to Soul and Igni
-[X] Double Down

[X] Chi is relaxing in her workshop, so now would be a good time to see her

As the hours pass and you get everything done however, you realise that something is different. You feel whole, yet something else seems to have fallen into place; your magic gently flows, mixing with itself but never once touching certain parts.

You think about it while doing other things, but there is only a vague feeling of companionship... or something like that. That does give you a vague idea for what it may be for, though; it is why, once lunch is over, you tap Ana's shoulder and beam at her. "Hey, do you have some time right now? I want to try something."

"Uh... okay? You don't mind, do you, Sky?"

Your friend's question makes the older girl shake her head gently; she is holding down a piece of meat for Ludger, who sniffs at it before taking it out of her hand. Then he accepts the other one feeling over his head to pet. Sky answers only after she found his ears: "Oh, it's quite alright. I was planning to ask other people for sparring matches today, so that will take up a lot of time. I think... I think I'll be at the training grounds all day today. So drop by if you want to have a match, okay?"

Sometimes you think she can see you smile even while untransformed; maybe she is just guessing it, though... either way, you nod in response -even though you already have a lot to do today- before taking a contemplative look at your dog. Ludger is great, yes... but it would be better if you tried connecting yourself with Ana without any interruptions. Cuddly corgis are pretty distracting, after all. "Hum, do you mind watching Ludger for today? I think he's getting chubby from all the good food and no exercise."

"Oh, is he?"

Sky carefully wipes her hand before lowering it and feeling for Ludger again, carefully sliding her fingers around his waist for a few seconds. Then she giggles, even though one hand flinches back a little. "Oh, he certainly is. What do you think, boy? How about some exercise?"

"Woof!"
"Hehe, then it is decided."

She leaves soon after that, a happy ball of fluff bouncing after her without hesitation. You giggle a little over his excitement, but then get serious again and motion for Ana to follow you.

"Okay... what are we doing here?"
""Relaxing~""

Your friend sighs over the sing-song response while you have trouble holding in the giggles; the three of you are now on top of the highest building -the city hall- and gently swing your legs back and forth. Arc actually built flat roofs everywhere is what you can see now, maybe even for this exact purpose; many Magical Girls have high jumps or can fly, after all. The view is great!

You take deep breaths of the clean air, trying to exhale your unease alongside of it. That does not really help, though; you started to wonder about fifteen minutes ago, right after leaving the cafeteria. It has been a week since you talked about those things with Ana; what if she changed her mind? Just doing this without her permission is not right. So after a few failed attempts to make the weight in your stomachs disappear, you turn to your friend with serious looks. "Do you remember what we talked about last week? The... the thing about taking you into our connection?"

Ana stares at you for a few seconds before recognition flashes in her eyes and she nods quickly. "Yeah, I do. What's with that?"

"Do you... still feel the same way? That you want to try?"

The heavy feeling does only get stronger with each question you ask, but you push forward anyway; hesitating is not allowed right now... but even Ana's nod does not make the sensation vanish, at least not entirely. You do feel a little lighter, though. That's good.

"Look, it's... I think I have an idea for how to do it, but..." "I don't know if I can undo it later. So if we actually pull you in, it might be forever." "Are... are you really sure?"

It takes a moment for you to realise you switched between your bodies during those sentences a few times; your nerves are getting to you after all.

Either way, Ana does not say anything and leans back until she is lying down; her eyes are unfocussed, watching the sky above before their lids slide down. You wait anxiously for her response, hearts beating in a barely audible cacophony.

Despite of how little you thought about it before, this is incredibly intimate. You read a little about how people share everything if they are married for life, but it is not really everything. This, though? You are about to let someone else into your own head, possibly for the rest of your life. No lies, no secrets... no nothing of that kind. Wait, is this kind of like marrying Ana?

Uh... no. It isn't.

Even though the idea turns your cheeks a faint pink, it is not really the same. At least you think that it is not; marriage is for adults and you are still a child... or children, maybe? Either way, you are too young to think about it that way. Though friendship does not really describe it, either; this is too close for being just friends.

Hm... I'm twins, so... how close is that?

From what you can remember of home and everyone there, twins is closer than normal sisters and about as close as mother and daughter. But Ana is your age, so you can not say you are her mother... she would not take that well at all, too. ...Wait...

You turn one head to look at your friend's side. Ana is an orphan because she has no parents anymore. Bianca did tell you that orphans can get adopted, which makes them a part of whichever family takes them in.

So... if you do this... it is not like marrying her, it is more like adopting her. You like Ana, so you do not really see a problem with making her your sister; at the same time, your mother is going to be so confused about all of this. Two daughters becoming one, changing her name and then adopting another girl into the family without asking her. Does that still count as children bothering their parents?

"Yes. I still want to try."

Her response pulls you out of your own musings; Ana looks determined, though she shakes a little bit. You share a long look with her before nodding and dispelling your transformations; she does the same a moment later.

"I thought about it just now, but this will make us become much closer. Not like friends or best friends, but more like sisters. So... if that's okay with you...?"

She nods once more, but this time her expression actually brightens.

With that last question out of the way, you slowly raise your hands to take hers; it does not feel as if you need to hold any specific part of her, just that there has to be contact.

After taking one last, deep breath, you gently probe that new part of yourself with magic, nudging it into the open and towards Ana; light glows over your arms and fingers for a moment, then sinks into her. It pushes further, prods here and there... Ana shivers each time, growing pale through the process; you try to pull the feeling back a little, make it go slower while it snakes through her body. You can guess that it worked from how she relaxes a little bit.

Slowly but surely, the sensations you can feel from Ana increase in length and detail; a stray flash of hunger here, some bubbling excitement and worry there... it starts adding up. Your friend... sister? Soon-to-be sister? She squirms once in a while, each time your magic touches something that feels important and glides around it; something prods you back twice, but it does not stop you and accepts the embrace... though you feel something like... greed, maybe? It feels weird, but Ana herself does not seem to notice.

After that point, this part of the girl before you begins to guide your magic forward, through the very being that is Anastasia. It does not take much longer until you can feel it set into place, stopping. There is a sense of wonder you know is not yours, so you gently poke back with joy; Ana blinks a few times and looks around drowsily. You have to supress the urge to flood her with ideas, thoughts and all the other things you ended up sharing while you were still two. "Ana? Are you okay?"

"Hm? Uh, yes... I just..."
Ana lets out a long yawn, barely managing to keep a hand in front of her mouth. There is tiredness washing over you from her, too. "Just really tired all of a sudden is all."

"That's okay, then. I walk you back so you can take a nap."
You exchange nods and then climb down from the roof; neither of you transforms just in case, though. Maybe the magic needs time to actually settle in, so you just use the ladders instead. At least one of your bodies stays right next to Ana the entire time, to make sure she does not stumble... it feels nice, even though no one is talking for now. You make sure to not overwhelm her with new impulses, but waves of sensations gently flow back and forth either way.

Curiousity.
Content.
Joy.
Nurture.
Hunger.
Amusement.

There are more... but you also slowly start to realise that it feels slightly different to what you originally had.

"Um... Pris?"
"Hm?"

You decide to think about this later and turn a head to your new sibling, whose eyes are on you a moment later. "I was wondering... how did you get that name... and why? And why Priscilla?"

You shrug lightly while rounding a corner and making way for another girl passing by in the other direction. "Let's see... I was thinking about myself for a bit... and then Gaia showed up. She is, like... the spirit of Earth and she knows everything. She was really nice... and she told me it's better to have a new name for me, but the two that I am should keep their own names."

"The spirit of... Earth? What does that mean?"
A small spike of confusion comes with the question and Ana frowns. You raise your arms wide in response. "All of it. Gaia is this planet, but she can appear like a human to talk to people."

"Oh... hm..."

You leave her be for a moment, having already reached the dorm by now. It takes only a few more turns until Ana's and Sky's room, which she opens quietly. Once you are all on the plush carpet and the door is closed, you get back to the other question she asked. "Gaia didn't say why Priscilla... but I guess you don't really need a reason for a name?"

You almost mention your middle name, but- "What middle name?"

Shoot. Stupid connection.

Ana gives you a curious look, which makes you sigh doubly; having one of those is a little embarassing. "She said my name is now Priscilla Celeste Vescovi."

A moment passes in silence, but Ana's face remains mostly curious... and you would have believed it, were it not for the bout of amusement rolling in over the link. You pout at her from both sides, which makes her break down into haltless giggles... interrupted by another yawn.

While Ana is busy being amused, you take note of deep green walls hidden behind the same furniture you have, as well as two beds that could not be more different; one is a simple white but has a big and fluffy blanket, the other is orange and loaded with stuffed animals. You also notice packed sweets strewn into the mass of fluff... how does anyone sleep in there?

"Hehe, sorry.... hum, should I change?"
""Nah, it will be fine. You're not sleeping that long, I'll come to wake you in a bit."

You are given an understanding nod before Ana wanders over... to the bed you thought was Sky's, the white one. Huh, appearances and all that... you shrug inwardly and hurry over to pull back the blanket. It is really soft in your hands for the few moments you are holding it, then you have pulled it over Ana and give her a kiss on the forehead. "Sleep well."

"Okay..."
You tactfully ignore the surge of embarassment while closing the curtains and giving her another kiss on the same spot; you have two to give after all. Another wave comes in over the action and you decide you punished Ana enough for laughing over your name. With that done, you gently open the door and see yourself out.

. . .

Your next stop, you decide, will be at Chi's workshop; you think you really should talk to her again... but you also dread having to talk to Igni and Soul; after that talk with Strength, it is starting to sink in how careful you have to be with them right now.

So you push it off for a little longer, climbing up the stairs to where Chitin Dancer lives. All the spiders running around are ignored, especially the bigger ones; now that you know how many of those are actually tarantulas, you really do not want to chance getting bitten. They still make you feel uncomfortable in general, but it got... better after your latest change. Not alright, but better.

The door is open when you arrive at the top floor, but you knock on the doorway just to make sure.

"Yes? Do you need anything, you two?"
Chi leans in from the side, her face upside down and a book in hand. You can not make out the title, though; it is upside down and written in a language you do not understand. She puts it aside once you enter, though. A few spiders then walk off with it, which you decide not to pay too much attention to.

So instead of looking at all the crawlies around the room, you focus on Chi and offer her -only slightly- shaky smiles. "I just wanted to say thank you for the cute clothes you made. I like them a lot."

You nod with both heads for emphasis and take note of how her lips curl upwards very slightly; Chi keeps quiet for a moment... which is enough for you to realise you did not really have anything else to come talk to her about. But just leaving would be rude, would it not?

"Heh, it's nice to get some recognition. Tea?"

Chi wanders over to her desk and pulls up a kettle from where you could not see it before; tea actually sounds nice, so you nod again and smile. ""I would like that. Thank you, Chi.""

She just hums in response and motions for you to sit down on the couch while checking the water with a finger. "Hm... need to reheat that. I like this trick of yours; how much practice did it take until you could talk in synch like that?"

It takes you a blink and almost asking what she means until you realise you talked with both bodies again. This was... not exactly what you wanted to do. But okay, at least you have something to talk about now. "Um... I could do it pretty well for a long time, but it came more easily once I got my magic." "Now it is... more like if I talked normally instead of being difficult to do."

"Hum... any reason you're only saying 'I' and 'me'? It should take two for that after all."

Chi finishes putting up the kettle over a small flame and turns back to sit with you, though she slowly pulls a small table over. That gives you a moment to realise you made another mistake, then sigh doubly. "Um... can you keep a secret?"

That gets her attention; Chi leans forward with open curiousity while you ponder if this is really okay. The constant, calm sensation of Ana resting helps you concentrate with how it remains in the back of your mind. You are not agitated or anything of the like.

"Sure, anything and everything's safe with me. What's it about?"

How to approach this... directly is still best is what you think. It worked well enough with Ana and Sky, at least. "I... I'm... not exactly two people anymore. Um.... uh... see, my magic linked both of... us?... together. And now we are no longer separate, but more like one person. This is me." "And this is also me."

You speak the last part with your other body for emphasis, making Chi turn narrowed eyes from one to the other. Then she huffs and shakes her head with a smile. "Wow, freaky. And you don't dislike it? At all?"

You have to think about that one for a moment, but then shake your head. The times where you were not sure about what to think of your magic are over. "I like it... though I liked it less before I figured out how to block one body from feeling pain when the other got hit. Anyway, it is not a bad thing in my opinion; one of the nice things it does is that I can understand so much more..."

You slowly stop talking and then look up when hands start petting your heads. "I see. So you're not two girls, but one... interesting. Don't worry about me telling anyone, though. I'll just tell you my secret, so if I blab out yours, you can tell everyone mine."

That is- "Nope, I don't mind you knowing. How's your tolerance for dead bodies?"

Her voice suddenly has a certain edge to it and the question scares you a little, effectively stopping the refusal that was on your lips. Did she kill someone?

Either way, you slowly shrug; this has Chi sigh in return. "Figures. My bad, that was a stupid question. Here, I'll just show you. It's only a little more weird than what you have... I think. Though you seem far more happy with what you got than... ugh, whatever."

She holds up a hand so you can see it, absently pulling the steaming kettle from the flame and turning it off. Not that you have any capacity to look at what she does with it, seeing that her skin is starting to shift and crawl and... are those hairs? How can her fingers split like that? It is as if the flesh itself was alive...

And then you see it clearly, a spider. A spider the colour of Chi's skin. Then another... and more... and more. They slowly peel back and wander up her arm after separating from what looked and felt like normal skin before; your hearts beat in a fast, ugly rhythm as you watch with a mixture of morbid awe and horror. Below the cream-coloured spiders are red ones that also pass and so on...

There is only bleak, pale bones left once they are all gone. They are held together by thin strings of silk, the fingers slowly moving together to form a fist.

Chi sighs. "So yeah, that is the actual me. I turned into a spider swarm when I transformed. That", she notes while raising all five fingers, "is what is left of my original body. I used to have the flesh, but my spiders ate it over time."

You shiver over her resigned tone and the eery sight both, all four eyes drawn to the bare bones; this has not been what you expected here at all. However, you do kick yourself back into focus after a few moments of staring to return Chi's gaze. Understanding is written over her face. "It's okay to look... I was horrified about it, too. Took me a while to figure out I'm not human anymore, though... guess that's what happens when you grow up with an obsession for crawlies like I did."

""....""

You are still without words; there is a morbid kind of fascination to watching all the spiders crawl back up and slide together, reforming flesh and skin with ease. Many of the upper ones are smaller than your thumb and none was actually longer than your pinky finger. This is... really creepy to you.

After another few moments, you finally find your voice and ask what is on your mind after clearing your dry throat: "This... that's the same with your whole body?" "And... and all those spiders are you?"

Some part of you still hopes this is not the case, but Chi nods a few times as a few bigger spiders wander by with three cups. "All of them are me and I can see about everything they see. I'm the swarm after all. That's why I will keep your secrets, too; I already know so much about what's going on in this city... including things most of the girls would rather not want people to know... Is that alright with you?"

Her tone is unexpectedly soft, even more so than normally. Is that uncertainty, or... oh. Right. You close your eyes for a long moment as to not give it away now that you realised it: Chi is anxious about your reaction. Which you can understand very well, this is so much more weird than your own magic that you are still wondering what to think of it.

She is completely made of spiders.
But you have started to become a human hivemind of sorts yourself, did you not? Is it really that different?

...

No.

So instead of actually answering at once, you take her hands, one per body. Chi's expression softens a little even before you speak: "I... I think it will be weird for a while, but I like you. You're a nice person, so I don't think I will care about this for long... um... as long as you don't tie me up and make me your lunch?"

It feels right to say this; getting used to one of your friends being a swarm of crawlies will take some time, but there is no need to be afraid or disgusted.

Chi barks out a laugh that quickly turns into giggles, grabbing your hands tightly; then she pulls you into a hug. "Oh, you're so precious... sure, deal. You don't look like you've got much meat on you anyway.... at least Sun doesn't. Aren't you a little chubby, Moon?"

You squeak when she pokes your side, then pout up at the spider-girl. "One of me liked gym class a lot more than the other. Besides, both of me are still completely healthy... and it's not my fault the food is so good here."

It is a weak excuse even to yourself, but Chi just chuckles and drops the matter... by chirping her response in three voices together: """Fair enough. Here you go."""

One is shrill, one is deep, one is her normal voice... but all three definitely came from her; you are already wondering how she did that with just one body, but the scent of tea fills your noses and makes you look down. Steaming cups are right in front of you and Chi has one as well; you only just see tiny legs vanish around the table's edge. The urge to look is there, but you stop yourself because you already have an idea for what you might find. It is a skittery, silky idea you really do not want to spend too much thought on. "This is so weird... how did you do it?"

"The voices? Oh, that's a nice perk of how I'm doing this. Hard to explain why it works, but in general... I produce sound by rubbing legs together; different numbers and speeds for different sounds. So I just make several at the same time, which gives me..." ""...many voices"".

She says the last part in her high and deep pitches, then continues with a choir of whistles while also sipping on her tea and taking in your expressions; they are probably giving away how intrigued you are rather easily.

. . .

When you say goodbye to Chi, you think you understand her a lot better than before. She does not seem overly happy with being a swarm of spiders, but it is not as horrible as you would have thought it might be.

Now that you know she is always watching all the people however, you start noticing the tiny webs in corners and small openings on your way. It feels a little weird... but you push the thought out of your mind. Chi would not give away anything about anyone without their permission.

Ana is still slumbering peacefully, your thoughts and emotions kept in check so they do not disturb her. She feels... smaller while asleep is what you notice; all those calming sensation come in periodical waves. It honestly makes you a little sleepy, although you carefully carry on. Right now is not the time for a nap, no matter how much you would like one.

It is time to talk to Igni and Soul.

The first people you see outside of the room the survivors got, however, are exactly the three girls you did not come here to talk to. Iron and Mirror, as well as Truth; none of them is transformed, though you can tell the third one is Truth because she has her slime tagging right after her.

All of them are sitting on the ground opposite to their door, looking for all the world as if a teacher chided them for not paying attention in class. Mirror pushes her bangs aside and offers you a smile when you round the corner. "Hey there. Good to see you again, you two."

The other two only nod your way, which you decide not to question; their last few days must have been hard, so it is okay. "Hey, Mirror." "I'm glad you're okay."

You do not want to bother them with your own changes right now; it is rather obvious why they are out here and not inside, so you reluctantly point at the door. "Is... is now a bad time?"

Your question makes at least one pair of lips turn upwards, although Iron does shrug and Truth heaves a sigh. Mirror rolls her eyes at the display before getting up. "It's okay, I think. Do you mind waiting for a moment?"

When you shake both heads, she gently opens up the door and pushes her head through. "Igni, Soul? The twins are here for you."

There are no words spoken while the other girl keeps standing there; you do notice that the room inside is dark, with a little bit of light shining from behind the door somewhere.

After a minute or so of waiting, Mirror slowly pulls back and waves you forward. "I guess they don't mind."

So you slowly enter the room with both bodies, then close the door with a nod to the girls behind you. Your bodies split up; one wanders to the smaller figure lying in bed, the other to the taller one who is sitting up. Where Soul seems unresponsive, you can actually see Igni's empty expression in her lamp's light. One face is halfway hidden by a blanket, the other by a book. You sit down next to each of them and wait for a bit; Strength's advice is still on the forefront of your mind, 'be good but not overbearing'.

It takes a while, but Igni finally puts her book down and looks at you, her expression only barely lifting. "Hey, Sun."
"Hey, Igni."

You offer her a shy smile in response while also beginning to crawl closer to Soul. "I guess you aren't feeling well?"

"...that's an understatement if I ever heard one."

You cringe over the response; there was a tiny edge in it, telling you more than enough. "Sorry. It's just... I don't want to say I understand because I don't..."

A snort interrupts both your speaking as well as your crawling, seeing that Soul throws back her covers and slowly sits up. "Yeah, you don't... but... I guess that's good, then. It's shit."

"Soul!"
Igni actually becomes a little more lively over that one word, a hand gripping the book tighter. "We shouldn't... shouldn't do that in front of children."

"It's okay."
Both turn to you as you turn to sit yourself next to Soul, whose tired eyes ghost over your form; you can see it in the dim light. "I don't understand how you feel, but I understand that this is difficult for you. If cursing makes you feel a little better, just do it."

"...bloody hell, you're giving me diabetes..."

You have absolutely no idea what that means... but going from how Igni started to smile a little, Soul must have made some kind of joke. It remains a weak smile, but... seeing them cheer up does make you happy. Their expressions fall rather soon, though. Igni marks the page in her book -what is Kafka?- before giving you another weak glance and tentatively ruffling your hair. "I... I want to take a nap now. You don't mind, right?"

Soul speaks up while you are still busy shaking your heads: "I like that idea. Sorry, girls."

You take the dismissals for what they are and make an effort to not show any discontent on your faces; not that it would have mattered much in the darkened room. "It's okay. I need to go check on Ana, anyway."

You think about saying how glad you are for them to be okay, but this might be taken differently than you mean it. Before you leave however, you wrap each girl in a tight hug. They do not really return it, but you will take what you can get. ""I'll be back.""

With that, you open the door and get back into the brighter hallway... with Mirror and Truth sitting at the wall to your right for some reason. Iron still sits opposite to it.

You only sigh once the door is closed, though it gathers sympathetic looks from the other girls.

"Thanks for trying, I'm sure it means a lot to them."
Mirror has a faint smile on her face after saying this and you perk up a little; whether or not you made a difference there, it was definitely the right thing to do.

Truth actually gets up now, a glance on her wristwatch. "Actually... it's almost dinnertime, how about we all go together? And bring something back for Igni and Soul."

There is nothing wrong with her proposal to you; Truth's slime gurgles a little in response while you nod. However... "Sure, but I have to get Ana first. She was... uh... is still napping."

"Sure thing. Lead the way."
""Okay! Follow me!""

You run off with a doubled giggle, a snickering group of girls following after you. Even Iron smiles a little bit.

Although it is not possible to run the entire way; well, one of you could do this, but not the other. You are soon out of breath and have to slow down. None of the others says anything, but they fall in line behind you very soon. Even the slime...

You push the irritation aside and gently poke Ana's mind; her relaxation soon turns into a spike of confusion, followed by warmth. A flash of a dark ceiling is next, as well as a stray feeling of hunger that joins your own.

The sleepy blonde already closes her room's door when you round the corner. She waves your way while also poking you with curiousity, her eyes on the older girls as fast as their eyes are on her. "You're from Yggdrasil, right?"

Mirror nods once again and offers a hand to Ana.

"Yeah. I'm Mirror Memento. Nice to meet you..."
"World Eater... but that sounds weird, so just call me Anastasia." "Or Ana, that's cuter." "Pris!"

Truth snickers while your friend slash sister barrages you with embarassment, making you giggle as well. Mirror and Iron both smile as well.

In the end, it was a good thing to keep yourself together today; with everything that happened and what you learned, it would have been troublesome to be separated. It does not feel as if you did much for Igni and Soul either way, but this was at least a start...

Dinner went... weirdly. Especially because you had to watch yourself, with the hunger rolling in from Ana in an unending wave once she had food in front of herself. The three older girls were amazed when they saw how much such a tiny girl could eat. No Sky, though.

Now that it is the evening however... what do you do next?

Igni and Soul:
[X] Take some time to spend with Igni and Soul each day

Evening Activities:
[X] Go look for Sky and see how well her spars went

[X] The Seasons are doing something interesting, but you do not know what it is. But you want to know.

The other girls look decidedly more cheerful when you say your goodbyes; maybe they needed some friendly faces around, too.

On the other hand, there was a suspicious absence of Sky and Ludger; they probably have not eaten anything yet. That is why you quickly pack up a few sandwiches and a bowl of dog food before heading out; Iron, Mirror, and Truth do the same -without the dog food- before going off to explore the city a little by themselves.

"So we're going to look for Sky?"
""Yup!""
"Sure, I don't mind... hm, what's Winter doing there?"

Ana's words have you turn towards where she is looking, though the urge to just use her eyes is hard to suppress. There you see Winter's Dream, her expression hidden behind the usual dark hood as she carries a big table over the main plaza. In fact, Autumn is walking not that far away from her with a box. What are they up to?

You wonder for a moment longer, then look down at the food you are carrying in-between your two bodies. You are curious about this... and with the decision made, you hand the dog food over to Ana before rushing off to meet the Seasons. "Wh- hey!"

Ana seems to want to give chase for a moment, but then she sighs and turns to you with a frown. There is an accompanying sting of exasperation. "Why is Rico running off?"

Thankfully, the wide smile is only on the face she can not see at the moment. "I'm curious, too. Besides, I wasn't sure you wouldn't eat the sandwiches."

There is a momentary silence while Ana looks down at the dog food in her hands, then back up at you. Only then does she pout. "Stop being a jerk, Pris! I'm not going to eat Sky's dinner... that only happened once..."

It is difficult to suppress the giggles, though the fact you reached the older Magical Girls now does help. "What are you doing?"

Winter only gives you a casual glance before letting Autumn weave around her. "Oh, hey Sun. We're setting up our monthly gaming night. What's up on your end?"

The word 'gaming' has you curious, so you fall into step by her side; you also lead Ana away. "I can catch up with us if it's boring, but Autumn says they are playing games." "Oh, I just got done with dinner and was looking for Sky. Can I play, too?"

Ana huffs lightly, but does not say anything against it; you do sense her curiousity about the matter, though. For a few moments, you can also tell that a lot of things are nearby; they radiate some kind of warmth- but the sensation ends before you can actually take it in properly. Autumn is still giving you a pointed look... but then she turns to Winter with a shrug. "Do you mind her tagging along?"

"Not really. But Spring won't be happy if she stays for too long."
"Yeah, right. So... we don't mind, but only the first game. It's going to be late when we're done with that and staying up longer" "is bad, I know. It's okay, I don't mind... thank you!"

She does not look angry that you interrupted her; Autumn just smirks and ruffles your hair, which you bear with grudgingly. Winter nods to herself before shifting the table a little bit. You just follow them to wherever they are going.

The first goal you reach is the training grounds, though. A very roughed up training grounds at that, with your Corgi playing in the trenches. Sky sits on a bench nearby and is talking to another girl you have not met before.

A low whistle has Ludger look up, then he darts over to where you stand and jumps into your arms with a happy yip; the noise and your giggling make Sky notice you as well. She excuses herself from her conversation and comes over.

You use the time to pet the dog and look at the spacious room the Seasons are gathered in; nobody but them and you is in there. "What are we playing?"

"Poker."
"...what's that?"

Summer snorts while Autumn shrugs at your question; Spring takes a set of cards and some weird chips out of the box before setting things up at the table. You use the time Winter needs to explain the rules to wave at Sky and greet her. "Hey! Sorry I'm late, there were lots of stuff to do."

"Oh, it's quite alright. I had a few girls come up for a few rounds of sparring... and with Ludger, too. This is definitely the strongest canine I've ever seen."

You let him down for now and nod. "Yes, he is. Um... actually, we brought you dinner."

With that, you pull the sandwiches out of your pocket and hand them over; the gesture makes Sky smile and she takes them carefully. "Thank you very much, that is really nice of you."

Ana puts down the bowl for Ludger in the meantime, who moves in the moment she lets go; he must be really hungry with how he devastates the dry food... or he just wants to cuddle, considering how he jumps up into Ana's arms after finishing.

"And... that's it. Do you understand?"
You leave Sky to her food and the corgi to Ana while nodding at Winter; everyone takes a seat around the table, with Summer putting up a few bowls of snacks. After having dinner just a little bit ago, you are not yet hungry... but you will be here for a while, so it is nice to have this. Spring looks around with a smile. "Should we play one round to get into it and see if Sun actually understood?"

There is general agreement with that and you pout.

"Say, would you be up to some sparring as well, Moon? I know I can't beat either you or Ana without killing you, but we never got the chance before."

You nod in response; Sky is already finished with her food -how can she eat that fast?- and slowly gets up. "Wonderful!"

"...I'm a little worried... you're saying you fought with Ana before?"

Some sheepishness comes back from your friend and Sky chuckles. "Why, yes. We have magic at our disposal and if you get along well enough with someone, there is nothing better than beating the... ahem, crap out of each other once in a while."

It is doubtful whether you agree with her on that one, but you can see what she means. Though... she might not be able to scratch you without her strong spell, but the same is true the other way around. With her being immune to your whole arsenal, it is actually impossible for you to do anything to her.

On the other hand... practice with your swings, spells, and reactions is never a bad thing. You grip your scepter a little harder and offer a smirk. "Alright, bring it... and don't eat the dog, Ana!"

"Hey!"

Sky and you giggle at the indignant shout while Ludger only tilts his head in wonder, watching the whole thing from the sidelines with her. You also whoop over having won the first round against the Seasons.

Summer smiles and gives you a thumbs up, then she raps her knuckle at a stack of chips. "Alright, you have the basics down. Now we're actually getting started."

When Spring begins shuffling again, you do start to wonder about one thing, though. "Um... is the house going to switch at some point? You can't play like that, can you?"

Your question leads to a moment of silence and Spring's cheeks dusting pink, then Summer laughs. Autumn and Winter smile as well, though the latter girl answers your question: "Mi- Spring's pokerface is so bad she can not actually play this game with us. She'd lose each and every time. That's why we just let her be the house."

"Oh... what's a pokerface?"
For some reason, this one only has Summer laugh harder until she drowns it in soda. Autumn takes over the answering this time: "That's how you call keeping your expression neutral no matter what happens. No smiling when things go well, no frowning when you only have bad stuff, things like that. Yours is actually pretty good. You need it so your opponents can't just read out of your face whether they should take a risk or fold."

"Oh. I see."

What you notice most of all is that none of them actually told you to watch your opponents closely. Sneaky.

Less sneaky is how you and Sky are wailing at each other, though. Her crystals ping off of your body without doing anything, but the amount of force you can bring up with your scepter is so small you might as well use your fists to hit her.

"Dream of War!"

You quickly throw yourself to the side to dodge her spell; the two beams come from her hands this time and go just over your hip as you fail the roll and flop onto your belly. The next hail of crystals still does nothing, though.

You wiggle back up as fast as you can, only barely making it past a particularly large crystal falling where you just were. Sky gives you a toothy smile and has more and more of the black stuff flow out of her dress and eyes and mouth and nose and ears what the heck?!

You try not to look and swing for her a few more times, but it is as useless as before. Only then do you notice the glowing around her hands and the fact you are right in front of her. Oh- "Dream of War!"

The beams crash into you in an instant, biting into your shoulders before you can move.

(Dream of War: +20000 Base Damage, +20000 Ray, no dice = 40,000 Total Damage
Primordial Moon: +700 Base Resilience, +5 dice = 705 Total Damage Reduction

39,295 Final End Damage

Primordial Moon Health: 98,781 - 39,295 = 58,486)

You immediately suppress the stinging pain and do your best to ignore the feeling of this eery light crawling under your skin. Once the brightness leaves, you stand. In difference to Sky's ichor, your blood drips to the ground in a morbid crimson after running down your arms.

You can not actually see what is going on in your body, but the pain is probably strong. A spike of concern comes from Ana and you can see Sky paling a little. Not that it matters much, you simply raise your scepter and start the arduous task of healing yourself. It will take a while.

"Soothing Moonlight!"

It does not do much, but Sky's gobsmacked expression alone is worth keeping up the fight.

. . .

. . .

You play and fight for a while; the one time Sky hit you with her Dream of War remains the only one and you do decently at the table as well. In the end however, the game ends and you decide to surrender at last; if Sky actually wanted to, she could win... while you are unable to do anything to her. So you drop your scepter and raise your hands. "I surrender."

Both you and Sky are breathing heavily... at least you have the taste of greasy snacks to soothe your mind. It does not help your one dry throat... except that there is a bottle of water flying your way. You grab it out of the air and turn to thank whoever threw it... only to find Nightmare Child. A breeze plays with her dark hair as she wanders closer.

"Nicely done, Sun. Good work."
In the meantime, Summer high-fives you for not being last while Autumn is grumbling over bad luck or something on the other side; she has basically no chips left. Spring just packs up with a smile while Winter sorts through her own meagre reserves, probably counting.

""Thank you.""
The older girls are nice to be around and actually funny to watch and play with. Summer pushes a chocolate bar over to your side with a wink. "Here, have one for the way and don't tell Spring I gave you sweets before bed."

There is the temptation to point out Spring is right next to you and heard every word; the way she rolls her eyes makes you reconsider and just pocket the candy, though. This one you will share later. "Thanks... you're a lot nicer than you appear."

It was mostly an observation, but saying it out loud makes everyone except Summer snort in suppressed laughter. Autumn nudges the other girl with her elbow, but fails to get out any teasing words. Winter shrugs and... winks at you? "We're two Russians, an Australian, and a German. From our nationalities alone, expectations are fulfilled and averted both accidentally and on purpose wherever we go."

Huh...

You never thought of it that way. On the other hand, this should mean there are more hidden sides to all of them. "Except Spring, she just evolved from being everyone's baby sister to being everyone's big sis." "Hey!"

You join the laughter this time and even Spring giggles a little. Having another powerful Magical Girl look at you in this contemplating way does put a damper on your mirth, though; Night has not yet spoken so far. At least she is not transformed, so you do not have to feel small and helpless again. Speaking of, you drop your own transformation and see Sky do the same a moment later. Neither her nor Ana interrupted the quiet pondering, so you also wait until Night is ready to say something.

It takes until you actually said your goodbyes to the Seasons and left until she does, with a faint smile: "We didn't get the chance before. It's nice to meet you properly."

A hand is offered and you shake it firmly, like Bianca showed you. Night's posture is... more relaxed than earlier, too. Perhaps it was just your imagination, though. "Nice to meet you. Ana talks about you a lot."

You do not look aside and to your new sister, but the sudden embarassment coming over tells you all you need to know. Night does not comment and simply overviews the field. "I watched you two for a bit. It seems your roles are similar in combat."

Sky shrugs weakly and all of you take another look around; the ground is torn apart even further, sprinkled with decomposing crystals and specks of red where you bled on the ground. "I guess so..."

Night wants to say more, you can tell from her posture... but then she takes note of the fact there is no sun in the sky anymore. "Ah, it's late. We can talk another time. Nonetheless, you did good. Both of you."

She turns and offers you a nod, eyes never leaving your face. "It was nice meeting you. Have a good night."

"Yes. Good night." "Good night!"
"Good night, Night."

You suddenly have the feeling that someone must have made an awful lot of bad puns out of her name before. It is... just a feeling, though the fact you could think of some from just saying and hearing those words tells you someone else has to have noticed as well.

That aside, you do meet up with your other half, share some candy and wave each other goodnight as well.

Everything in this void is hidden by darkness, except for World Eater.

She gently floats and turns your way, opening eyes that burn like wildfires.

Then she opens her mouth, wide and wider; it is a chasm of teeth and flesh.

OMNOMNOMNOMNOM

You let her devour you, no questions asked.

The next morning goes by without anything out of the ordinary; you do think about what that dream was, but can only guess that it had to do with Ana eating everything in the world. Not that you tell her, she would probably not like it.

After classes however, Spring tells you to see Strength. That is why you only get some lunch before saying goodbye to the others and making your way to the office you already visited before.

Strength is looking through some kind of report, frowning a little while her eyes wander; her head is tilted somewhat as she reads. You carefully close the door behind you and wait until she is done, which is soon... though you do not like how she sighs. "So. Guess what, there is another fire to put out. Sorry I couldn't get you when your sister called, but you had classes... and she didn't warn me beforehand."

This makes you both sad and intrigued, which you decide to display side by side. "Awww." "What is it?"

The older girl fiddles with the papers in her hand, flipping a page back and forth absentmindedly. "I called back most of the girls in the field, that was last week. There are a few dozen helping me out around the world, plus whoever Yggdrasil had out and about. Thing is, your sister just told me one of the groups from Europe is being followed."

Your thoughts immediately start to spin; who is following those girls? If she says Europe... "The UES?"

"Of course. Who else would it be?"
Strength snorts and puts the papers down. "The bad news is that it's a dozen soldiers and three Magical Girls shadowing our team. The good news is that they are overextending, which is why your sister called."

You blink and there is a concerned notion coming from Ana; she must have sensed your unease. It is not really possible to reassure her right now, so you just poke back a little bit and make sure not to actually send her any images or thoughts. Better to keep this amongst Strength and yourself for now. "Okay? What are you doing about it?"

The older girl grimaces before replying; you can already see she does not like saying it at all: "The objective your sister gave me was to scatter the soldiers and take all three Magical Girls prisoner. Two of them are rigged with bomb implants, but we already have the means to shut those down remotely. The problem is that at least one is a Legend on top of that. I could tell the Seasons to stomp them into the ground and drag them back, but going in with overwhelming force is... yeah, unlikely to make them listen to us."

She takes another long breath. "The pursuers are Magical Girls Supreme Tech, Unyielding Paladin, and Brave Heart."

The last name sparks memories of pain and fear, making you shiver. If Strength noticed, she does not say anything about it. "Your sister recommended you to do it because you have personal experience with Brave Heart. You're also strong enough to make it, but without actually looking dangerous."

You sit quietly even after Strength stopped speaking; she gives you a moment to order your thoughts, then adds something with a weak smile that does not reach her eyes: "I won't order you to do it and you don't need to go immediately. Take your time to think about it. If you haven't made a decision the day after tomorrow, I will take Winter along and do it myself. Otherwise... if you do want to, you can take up to two more girls with you, free of choice... if they want to."

It... it is nice that she gives you the choice; you are really not sure about it right now. Last time you saw Brave Heart, she was incredibly strong in comparison. But now? Now you might measure up. Do you do it right now, though?

Open Missions:
For Their Own Good (Operation: Lost Cradle)
The girls currently... 'employed' by the UES do not actually suffer. Even though it is only because of Bianca that they are treated this well, simply offering them an out is not going to be enough. Some, like Brave Heart, even truly believe that others like her are the source of all evil. It is a wretched practice to indoctrinate children like that.
A returning group of Magical Girls is carefully followed by UES-enforcers and a few soldiers; they are aware of the threat, though they do not act on it. Your task is to intercept the enforcers, defeat them in battle, and take them alive.

After promising to think about it and saying goodbye, you make to leave. Then you stop at the door and look back at Strength. "Um... do you know where I can find Night?"

She thinks for a moment before shrugging and flipping through the report again. "Beats me... she likes sitting around and staring into the air, though. Maybe someone else has seen her?"

"Oh... I see. Thank you."
"You're welcome."

You leave with that, suppressing a sigh at having to actively look for Nightmare Child. On the other hand, her liking to be alone is at least a good hint.

Instead of asking around for the absent Magical Girl however, you fly. Looking over Kibo becomes rather easy from a hundred metres above the city; your eyes are incredibly good, making you able to actually see the people below properly. Did you always have that since you awakened as Magical Girls? Not that you ever really needed the sight before, though it is nice to have.

Either way, Night is quick to be found; she sits on a roof further to the city's outskirts, overlooking the countryside. With how cloudy it is today, the temperatures are actually nice... even though it might rain later.

When you touch down next to her, the older girl only spares you a quick look before turning back to watching whatever it is. There are cables coming out of her ears and you can faintly hear some kind of music playing. "I take it you have time to talk now? Please sit."

You do as told, sitting down on the edge to her left and right after a moment of contemplation. Night fiddles with something in her pocket and the music stops, then she pulls two plug-like things out of her ears. She does not say anything for a while, though her posture relaxes somewhat. "Bianca never mentioned having siblings, but the similarity is striking. Anastasia already told me about you, too."

Silence reigns again after that, but not the oppressive kind. With no idea how to respond right now, you keep quiet and wait for what Night wanted to talk about. Her face is relaxed, even though her eyes are roaming the countryside as if they were looking for something. "I did not really have anything to tell you in mind, my reasons are rather more selfish. Would you mind staying around for a bit?"

Her confession does leave you a little confused, but you simply nod and make yourself more comfortable; there is other stuff you want to do today, but spending some time up here seems fine. You already went through the trouble of finding her, after all. "I don't mind... if you tell me why?"

It ends up as more of a question than you wanted it to be, but Night does not refuse you. She only folds her hands in her lap and closes her eyes. "That's fair. Ever since I awakened my powers, I could hear the dead screaming and pleading wherever I went. Sites of major battles or other great losses of life are generally worse than regular places, but it never really stops... I can't explain why, but it does stop when I'm close to Bianca. And to you, as I now know."

That sounds... weird. And sad. You have half a mind to stop yourself from just hugging into Night; she might not like that. "So... always? Even when you want to sleep? That must be hard... I can't even imagine..."

The closest your mind comes is imagining a few more people included like Ana and them having a conversation about something while you want to concentrate... or sleep. But at least you could tell them to wait a bit, or talk about whatever later. Night just shrugs in response, though. "The first month was the hardest. I adjusted over time... but I am grateful for even just a few minutes of blessed silence."

You try your best not to grimace at her; this does not sound healthy... everyone in this world is messed up in one way or another after all. On the other hand, you can help her out a little bit; that has to count for something.

It takes you a little while of quiet until you finally manage to get out your question, though: "Um... Night? Can I hug you?"

There is no reaction at first, though her lids open and reveal green eyes to look at you curiously. Night ponders this before shaking her head. "I'd rather you didn't. It is nice of you to offer, though."

So you were right about it; this is the first time you actually thought about being considerate and not hugging someone, is it not? You make a mental note to keep that in mind, then lie on your back to watch the clouds.

Actually, this is pretty nice.

Two hours pass before you leave Night; she actually smiles when you take off, giving a little wave. It was different than what you usually do, though it did give you some time to think about how to go about the other things you have in mind today. There is training to be done... and you need to talk to Soul and Igni. With the decision to help them made, there is no way you are backing down... even though you want to, a little bit.

Over the half hour you are with them, neither of the two talks much to you. Iron flicks through some kind of manual, not caring for the tension either. All you really left was a bit of companionship and candy bars you brought from the cafeteria. You like sweets a lot, so maybe they will help them a bit as well.

As your visit draws to a close, though... despite of how intimidated you are of whatever makes your friends so miserable, you do approach one other topic you thought about before. "Soul? Um... I wanted to work on my dodging in a bit. Can you help me?"

You are aware of the fact everyone is looking your way this time... and speaking of ideas, you quickly ping Ana. Hey, I was thinking...

The immediate shock from the other end reminds you that she had no idea you could send direct thoughts; there is also a bit of pain coming along, so you keep yourself short: Maybe you should try knocking people out with your bubbles instead of blowing them up?

"Oh, why not... just let me get dressed."
Soul's response is overshadowed by a mixture of hurt, annoyance, and curiousity. You have the faint feeling Ana is trying to respond, but nothing like actual words makes it to your end. By the time you return to focus on the room, Soul is already out of her pyjamas.

Igni puts her book aside -a different one than yesterday- and gets up as well. She does not say anything though, just leaves the room after throwing on a jacket.

Before you can actually start to do anything aside from transforming, a yip alerts you to Ludger running up from behind. He yips again and starts jumping up your legs until you crouch to pet him. He was with Ana, though... "Urgh, you're such a jerk..."

Oh, there she is. And Truth is around, too... actually, so are Mirror and Iron. Where did they all come from?

You shake off the thought and go to hug your sister with the one pair of free arms. "Sorry... I had no idea that would happen."

"Well, I have a headache now, so please don't do it again."

You do not feel anything about it for some reason, but Ana would not lie. Still, this is not what you were here for; it is time for training. Which brings you to the question what she is doing at the training grounds. "Are you trying out that suggestion I had?"

"...yes."
You let go of both her and Ludger, the latter quickly running over to get more petting from your other body. Soul is watching everything with an unreadable expression though, so you stop and get back to her. "I see. Oh, by the way, this is Soul Queller."

The two greet each other more... reluctantly then you would have hoped. Before you can comment however, a groan reaches your ears from the sidelines. Truth is sitting on the ground and holds her head; all three eyes are closed. Um...

Soul snorts lightly before calling over and motioning for Ana: "What, is she that strong?"
The response takes a moment, mostly because Truth is rubbing her face a few times. Then she looks again... but at you. Did you do something?

At least there is no one but from the Yggdrasil-girls here to listen when she walks closer and starts ranting: "No, my dear. Aside from the fact I can count the amount of Magical Girls more deadly than World Eater on one hand, with most of those being elites. But I can tell you what Sun's and Moon's Balance is about now."

Ana pales a little at the mention, though you can only absentmindedly push some warmth her way. The last part got your attention; it has been a while since you actually thought about Balance.

Truth does not seem to notice with how she continues immediately... while motioning at you. "Ignoring the private stuff for now... you know exactly which one I am talking about. Anyway... last time I saw you, you could barely match a somewhat experienced Story. Now you're starting to measure up to Legends... within less than a month? And what kind of insane experiments did you do with your dog?! The mutt could take on Iron and Igni if he wanted to!"

You have the faint desire to exchange looks with yourself over the rant, but you rather not do so right now. Ana listens with interest while everyone else is basically just staring at you. A weak blush finds its way on your cheeks despite your best attempts to keep it away, quickly growing to your ears when Truth continues: "I mean, seriously! Knight took years to get where she was, you have been at it for... what, three months? And you're already coming close to her defensive power, not to mention spell power..."

The mention of Abyss Knight does leave you with a tinge of pain, but it drowns in embarassment over what Truth is saying... in the end, you just look away and hope she does not continue talking. Though... wait.

Your spells are not that strong; Knight never showed you her spells, but you are pretty sure they were strong if Truth actually mentions them. That is why you motion for Truth to wait and turn towards a training dummy someone put up far away. "Let me just..."

You aim your scepters with trepidation, but no hesitation. ""Scorching Sunlight!""

The beams you create are far more powerful than you remember them being, rushing forward to meet their mark in an instant; yet they merge together only right before impact, just as usual.

(Scorching Sunlight: +20480 Base Damage, dice do not matter = 20,480 Total Damage
Scorching Sunlight: +20480 Base Damage, dice do not matter = 20,480 Total Damage

81,870 Final End Damage

Training Dummy Health: 500 - 81,870 = -81,370)

The onslaught of light rips right through hardened wood and metal alike, burning and melting all of it in an instant before tearing a trench of scorched earth into the ground behind where it once stood.

That... was much stronger than it used to be. "T-Thanks for telling me... it grew again..."
"You can go higher, actually. Try standing still and aiming properly... Soul, mind going up and being their target?"
"Sure..."

Soul takes a step to the side and sighs quietly. "For every being that ever was, there will come a time to die. I am Magical Girl Soul Queller!"

Magic wraps around her and reveals the winged form you are so familiar with. Said wings stretch wide for a few moments, then the girl takes off. "How high?"

Her voice is a little more lively now, maybe from being in the air? Going by how Truth is smirking, she probably figured something like that. "I think five hundred should be good to demonstrate!"

Soul tips one wing her way, then flaps both strongly and ascends at speed. You can hardly see her clearly for a few seconds due to how fast she is. Once the girl does not rise faster than you can follow anymore, she has begun to get small even for your newly found super-sight. Truth watches both her and you. "You should start aiming."

""'Kay!""
Then your eyes focus on the tiny figure in your vision; wind will not do anything to the trajectory of light, which means you can just aim straight at Soul. Magic flows readily and coats your scepters for a moment as you square your feet and keep still, then you call out your sunlight again.

(Scorching Sunlight: +20480 Base Damage, +8192 Ordnance, dice do not matter = 28,672 Total Damage
Scorching Sunlight: +20480 Base Damage, +8192 Ordnance, dice do not matter = 28,672 Total Damage

57,344 unified damage, x2 Absolute Connection = 114,688 Total Damage

Target is not there - Attack ineffective)

The beams rush out even hotter and brighter than before, not scattering at all until they merge right before Soul... but she just rolls out of the way in one fluid motion, letting them pass and scatter in the distance. Far, far away.

One can see how impressed Ana is even without the connection in place. So are the others and you get a few congratulatory slaps on your shoulders while Soul gracefully glides down again. Her face is expressionless and twitches a little, but she quickly stops whatever it is and gives you a nod. "Not bad. Anything else before we get started?"

You shake your heads and split off in response; only one of you will train with Soul, you also want to try something else. Ana gets going to a part further down the field and starts on her work, too... wait, when did Sky get here? "Just you, Sun?"

"Yup!"
At least practicing to dodge is not as taxing, seeing that it is mostly for your muscle memory; you can put some more focus on Soothing Moonlight, your first healing spell.

It started emanating several threads of light instead of just one beam quite some time ago, you even can move them somewhat to heal several people at once. Right now, you are wondering if you can move them better. Maybe even to wrap around the same person; with each one having the same power, this should be a big increase to your healing power.

"Soothing Moonlight."
The first thing you notice is that the shine is brighter than before. The next one is that there are more threads than before. Maybe its healing power and spread are related?

Either way, you just aim at Soul's back because she is the closest to you, but she sidesteps it with a huff and continues coaching you. More threads wrap around Ludger, Ana, Iron, Mirror, Truth... hehe, they are all shining for a moment.

But then the light runs out and you are back where you started. So you cast again, this time with focus on yourself... well, Sun. It is easier to aim away from yourself and the light does not bother you much as you scramble to jump away from Soul's sword.

When you try moving a second thread around however, it... is pushed away by the one already going for yourself. You try to move another in, but the same thing happens. The strands do not want to get close to each other, it seems.

You try coaxing them closer on the next try and the one after, but it does not work.

This continues for quite a while, with you trying everything you can think of to make the streams merge while stumbling around the place under Soul's guidance. Ana does something or other on her part of the field; whatever it is seems to help, seeing that the place is not completely torn apart.

The sun is already on her way to the horizon when you finally have a new idea; instead of merging the beams at their end, why not do it at their beginning?

So you take aim at Truth again, this time concentrating on the feeling of your magic gathering. "Soothing Moonlight."

It comes and... right before separating into ten at the tip of your scepter, you push it so it stays together. The beam still separates into different paths that spread out... except there are now nine you can count before it runs out. One of them was decidedly brighter than the rest, too.

You cast again and repeat the process, making sure that yes, you did count correctly. Nine threads, with one of them being brighter. You aim that one at Iron...

(Soothing Moonlight: +7020 Base Damage, dice do not matter = 7020 Damage Healed
Soothing Moonlight: +7020 Base Damage, dice do not matter = 7020 Damage Healed

14,040 Total Damage Healed

Iron Memento is at full Health)

The success fills you with warmth and you are tempted to let out the joy, but... no, you need to see if you can do more about this.

. . .
Line Break Recognised
. . .

You manage to merge another thread together with your big thread, but this one was a lot harder to get there. Combining two all over so you get five bigger ones is... possible, but you did not do much with that. Your first priority is to get as many together into one as you can. The more threads you try to keep together, the more difficult it becomes to keep them together.

Now it is time for dinner though. And you are determined to take Soul along; so you just take her hand while also gathering Ana and Sky. You will have a big group to eat with today.

Soul does seem as if she wants to shake you off, but her hand relaxes after a moment. Success!

A FLOWER Blooms
[X] Ana was talking to Flower before that training session, so now she is all by herself again. This can not stand.

[X] Somehow, it is always Rico getting the exercise... run a few laps

Eating together with everyone is... nice. Soul does not have much, but it feels like a good start. With the recent reminders about your lack of exercise however, you keep one portion smaller than the other and excuse yourself early. Or... at least half of yourself.

"Does anyone know where she's going?"
Your only warning is a surge of mirth, but it is too late to stop Ana from answering Mirror's question: "Jogging. Someone doesn't want to get fat."

There is chuckling all around... at least Ludger does not laugh. Instead he walks with you cheerfully. Ana gets a pout from across the table, but only smirks in response. This was payback for earlier and you both know it. Still...

"It's not really that... Moon never did much exercising and being out so out of shape might end badly."

It is a weak excuse, though somewhat true. It is important to be ready to dash at times, or things like that; the main problem is that you are out of shape, being a little more chubby is a good thing; it definitely beats being too thin from going hungry for too long. Urgh, you still remember those months from when you were six. Your mother gave most of her share of rations to you to keep you healthy, until her ribs became visible.

You shudder, forcing the unbidden image away. Good thing the shortage ended before she got seriously ill.

"You know... I don't see why it would? I mean yeah, you're done for if your transformation runs out... but magic usually substitutes stamina and all the other stuff while you're transformed."

That is news to you; Truth gives you a look, having added the last part only after seeing your confusion. "Seriously? Nobody told you that? Soul, what the f-hell?"

"Hey, that wasn't my job! I thought they already knew."
"Iron, Mirror?"
"Wasn't the time for an MG crash course."
"Ugh, always shifting the blame so quickly..."

The part about your journey with Igni remains unsaid, as is the fact Knight used to train you as well. You feel this familiar sting in your chest and are grateful that they leave it be. Truth just shakes her head before turning back to you. "So yeah, it is mostly for personal enjoyment."

It still sounds like a good idea... though mostly because you already committed to it and changing plans now would be embarassing. "Anyway, what are you going to do this evening?"

"Hum... I was thinking about visiting Flower. I did promise to do that and I'm curious."

Considering that the other girls are all done, you quickly clean up and say goodbye to everyone aside from Ana; she is coming with you. In the meantime however, you also make a weird find: your clothes get shorter for some reason.

Usually you use old clothes for gym class, a pair of shorts and a shirt. Now that you try to get into a different set than what you used a few days ago, however... they do not fit anymore. The shirt barely covers your belly button and you are sure it was a snug fit just last year. The shorts have a similar problem, becoming tight around your hips.

You sigh and throw those clothes off again after a look into the mirror. You can not wear that anymore. The other set is... better. Now that you know something is happening though, you notice that it only barely covers everything by this point.

Have I started growing that much?

Your clothes can not just shrink, after all... at least that would explain why your shoes have been feeling pretty tight for a while. But where do you get another... right, Chi. Probably.

Which means that you need to bother her again for a lot of things soon, do you not? Bianca said that growing in places is normal at your age and especially once you get older. Ugh, so much trouble...

"This way!"
By the time you leave your room and get going, Ana already pulls you past quite a few large domes until the one you know to be Flower's comes in sight. Memories of the carnage from last week make you shiver involuntarily, the smell almost returning to your senses when you get inside.

...wait.

That is no memory. The smell is there, full of copper and sweetness as well as something... something disgusting that makes you want to retch. You feel horrible within seconds... while Ana gives you an apologeptic look. "Oh, sorry... I forgot you're not used to it. It's always like this in here."

"How can you, ugh, visit the place so often?"

You have trouble keeping yourself on a straight path even though that body is not even smelling this atrocious scent. "Whoa there, you okay?"

And then someone else comes up by your side. It is Strength, clad in a white shirt and what looks like red panties... though they are not as loose for some reason. Maybe some kind of shorts? Either way, her face is a little flushed and she sweats slightly; Autumn appears on your other side and both girls easily keep up with you. "Y-Yes... what are you... doing?"

Having to breathe in-between makes that question take longer than you would have liked it to be, but Strength does not seem to mind. She shrugs without ever breaking stride. "Same as you, it seems. First time jogging?"

The fact you are breathing heavily after just a few minutes probably told her that already, so you do not bother responding; you slow down and come to a halt to catch your breath, with both older girls stopping by your side. Sweat glistens on your arms and your sides sting.

"Hm... don't forget to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. That might help a bit."

Autumn gives your shoulder a light slap as you immediately try to follow her advice. It does not help that this abominable stench is still plaguing you in the garden; even worse is that everything around you is flesh and skin. No grass, no flowers, no nothing. Just strands of convulsing meat from pink to crimson. You are sure you actually saw something like a hand grow out of the ground earlier. What is this place?!

"That's Flower's garden", Ana tells you. She must have heard the last question somehow... and going by the cocky smile she throws your way, the non-answer was on purpose. "Don't worry, you get used to it if you come by more often. Besides..."

She halts to carefully scoop a slimy, red blob from one of the larger things... before putting it into her mouth and biting down. You can feel something squish over your teeth... no, not yours. Ana's smile warps into a happy one as she carefully chews whatever she just ate, a sense of content rolling over to your side. She even licks the drips of blood from her fingertips after finishing. "I don't know why, but I love eating these. They are so tasty..."

This distant kind of tone makes you shiver quietly, even though you continue following her. "Is that why you're here so often?"
"Hm? No... uh... it's not the only reason? I like Flower... and she gets far too few people visiting."

"That's true."
The third voice makes you both turn your heads; there she is, just as usual in but a long shirt; her vines and leaves sway gently in the nonexistent breeze, the girl herself looking down at you from atop a bigger structure thing. "It's always nice to have people come over, though. Welcome, Sun... and welcome back, Ana."

She quickly crawls down from whatever the large lump of flesh is, making use of her additional limbs to maneuver around the place easily... a little bit like a spider. Now you have to think of Chi again.

Soul is that graceful, too. You just realised that because your path leads right past the training grounds, where the winged girl is going through several different motions. Her back is turned your way, though.

However, your sides are burning by now and you are tempted to stop for the time being. Not that you do it, but the temptation is there... at least Strength and Autumn have started panting by now, too. They are also looking in Soul's direction; neither of them seems overly happy about seeing her there, but they are not frowning, either. Strength takes a longer huff. "You know... she does strike me... as the kind of girl... who works hard. Need to have... someone keep an eye... on her."

You do not bother responding, it would probably just be a mess of jumbled words and heavy breathing anyway. Neither of them minds it.

On the other set of eyes, you notice Flower not minding the fact she is basically coated in slime, grime, blood and probably other stuff as well from running around in her garden. For some weird reason however, she does not even smell like everything else in here. "I'm afraid I can't offer you much, though. From what I heard, Ana is the only one who can actually eat anything from here without getting sick... I think I can make some tea, though?"

You have no idea how tea is going to taste in this kind of environment, but it can probably not get any worse. The fact Ana is unique in liking this fleshy stuff does not even come as a surprise. Both of you nod and your friend sister answers Flower: "That sounds nice. Oh, and can you show Pris that other thing you're making?"

For some reason, the question has her giggle. "Of course, if you can promise she isn't going to be grossed out?"
"Sure."

There is a soft poke at your mind, which you return with a wave of trust. If Ana thinks you can take whatever it is, you will give it your best attempt.

Speaking of attempts, you do finally break down drenched, out of breath and with a dry mouth. Both of your sides feel as if they are on fire and you are only vaguely aware of several hands keeping you steady. "Ugh..."

"...why didn't you stop earlier? You've got nothing to prove here, Moon."
You do not even bother trying. Strength rubs your back comfortingly while Autumn holds a bottle of water to your lips, making you take slow, short sips. It is... very nice of them to do that.

After some coughing and panting, the latter echoed by Ludger, you sigh and sit properly before thanking them. This is somewhat embarassing... at least they do not make fun of you. On the other hand, you have the feeling that there will be an intervention if you try to run any further than this... and seeing that you are not sure you can take this sickly sweet stench in both of your noses right now, you decide to take care of something else. "Strength? Where do I go when I need new shoes?"

The sudden change in topic makes both girls look down at your feet; Strength studies them for a bit while Autumn nudges your shoulder. "You know, other shoes aren't going to make jogging easier."

There it was, the expected barb. You pout at the smirking girl for a moment, then drop it and pull your knees up to your chest. "I... I think I have been growing recently. My older clothes don't fit anymore and the shoes are starting to get tight."

"...you've been running in shoes too small for you?"
Strength just shakes her head over your surprised expression before squatting down with her back to you. "Come on, hop up. We're taking care of this right now."

Um...
You wonder what she means with 'hopping up' and look to Autumn in search for answers. She just rolls her eyes before gently pushing you towards Strength. "You've seriously never got a piggyback ride? Just climb on her back and keep your arms around her neck."

Once you do as told, the first thing you notice is that Strength is warm... and sweaty, but beggars can not be choosers. Strength grabs your knees to steady you, then gets up and hops in place. "Hm... you're pretty light... ah, whatever. Let's get going."

So while one half of you enjoys a most curious ride, the other half gets to sip chamomile tea in a jungle of flesh. Flower did not talk much while preparing the tea, so you had some more time to get used to the stench

"So, what do you think of the city so far?"

Her words at least offer a distraction from all the disturbing things you see, so you quickly take the question and think of a good answer. "Hm... I like it a lot. Everything is clean, we have enough food and the people are nice. Arc made it a beautiful city."

Ana nods in agreement while Flower contemplates your words, the cup hanging right in front of her lips as if she forgot about it. It is lowered after a few seconds and she nods as well. "I'm glad to hear that. Kibo is a wonderful city indeed."

. . .
Line Break Recognised
. . .

There is quite some conversation while you also get yourself new shoes designed in one of the other buildings. Another of Arc's machines does this, though Chi also gives you two pairs of silken sandals for warm days.

At some point however, everyone is done with the tea and Ana gets to her feet. "Okay, that was enough smalltalk. Let's show her!"

Flower hesitates before putting down her own cup, carefully pushing a veiny strand of Don'tThinkAboutIt out of her hair that fell down from somewhere above. She offers a weak smile, then motions for you to follow her and leads the way.

This time however, it does not take long to reach a large clearing filled with... something. You can tell that it seems to be a big flower, but it has tons of slimy appendages writhing around; it is coloured in a sickly green with some red and black and yellow. Rows of teeth click together here and there... whatever this is, you have never seen something as disgusting. At least it does not smell worse than the place itself, only about as bad.

You are not afraid, though. Everything in here belongs to Flower and Ana trusts her, so you refuse to be scared of it. No matter that it is incredibly creepy.

"So... maybe a little context to what this is?"
Flower already stands next to the abomination, gently patting one of its many stalks and giggling over the appendages that seem to lick her face. "Now, now. Be nice."

The creature pulls back its tentacles in an instant and somehow manages to look chastised with how it slumps into itself. It does perk up when the petting continues. "You see... my magic is to make this. It used to be a normal flower, but I made it grow and become stronger. It isn't done just yet, though; their final forms are often different from how they look earlier... or so I was told. I can't really see any of it. All I see right here is a big, smiling flower."

You faintly remember hearing about something like that, but Flower continues before you can actually recall anything specific. "And this around us? That's a wide meadow with a few trees to me."

Another look around tells you that yes, everything is still fleshy and disgusting. At least it makes more sense how Flower can live here if she can not see it. "I see... uh... sorry."

She just waves off the unintentional pun and turns back to the writhing thing. "As I said... this is what I do. They... they killed all of my birdies and Nicholas during the attack... so I decided I should make some more. My spell got strong enough to do it pretty fast by now, too. I used to be able to only do it once per day... and it took more than three months to get Nicholas completely evolved. Now I can cast it twice per day; I started on this one just this week, but it should be done with the next casting."

Flower openly smiles this time, though it does not reach her eyes. "I decided I should practice and make a few more in case I need them. Do you want to see?"

Both of you nod eagerly; it is unsettling and gross, but also intriguing. Flower just nods before pressing her leaves into the mass and taking a deep breath. "Evolution."

The girl herself begins to glow in ethereal light and you find a flicker of [CURIOUSITY] coming from somewhere... is that Gaia? Why?

(Evolution roll: 4932 5507 8594)

Either way, you watch what happens next with rapt attention; it only takes a moment until the thing begins to glow as well. Then it steams, hisses and groans in what might be pain... or maybe it is excitement? Maybe it was waiting to be completed, too?

The leaves begin to melt, as does the fleshy body; it quickly loses half its size until it is only somewhat bigger than yourself. Glistening membranes start smoothing over, blocky shapes vanish to be replaced by more round forms... and the vines fuse together into thicker, fleshier tentacles. Curious eyes appear on what looks like its belly, taking in your surprised stares as another pair grows out of the head. Flower looks outright devastated at what sits in front of you now, her leaves quickly pulling back and folding up as best as they can.

No one speaks for a while as you take in the creature sitting in front of you. Teeth appear amidst the mass of tentacles she has for feet once in a while... or are those roots? Either way, she looks herself over as much as she takes the three of you in.

In the end, Flower gently walks forward and kneels right in front of... whatever you should call this girl. It is definitely a girl, at least that much you can tell. She carefully places her hands on her head, then slides them down over the slimy body. Whatever she does there, she is thorough in taking in each part of her, from the leafy hair to her hundred slimy arms... well, those are also tentacles, though more flesh-coloured than the rest.

"Mama?"
Her voice is bright and melodious, almost normal. Flower flinches a little before turning her head; they look at each other for a long moment, neither of them speaking. "What's wrong, Mama? Why are you crying?"

Both you and Ana immediately move to check if it is true, but a maw with razorsharp teeth hisses at you before you can get close. There is a spike of unease from your sister, but you soothe her while pulling back. The hissing stops and the plant-girl's eyes snap to you for a moment, measuring. She returns to her mother (?) when she starts speaking, though: "This... this isn't right... you... I..."

Flower lets out a defeated sigh before gently caressing the girl's head. "I... I wanted to make fodder this time, something that I wouldn't mind dying... and now I got you out of it..."

"That's okay, Mama. I don't mind dying for you."
Ana's friend just sobs quietly, the tentacles wriggling around her and administering the most unusual hug you have ever seen.

It takes a while of awkwardly standing around until they separate; Flower gets to her feet with another deep sigh before shaking her head. Only then does she turn and realise you are still there. "Oh... sorry... I-" "It's okay. I don't think I understand it perfectly, but I can see this was hard on you. What's her name?"

"A name? My... name?"
The plant-girl blinks at you with curiousity, taking the bait and beaming at Flower; the sensitive topic is pushed away just like that and you exchange a grin with Ana. Her friend is already busy thinking, but shrugs after just a few moments. "I guess I can call you what I had in mind anyway. You're Flowey."

"Flow-ey... Flowey..."
She immediately tests how it sounds while you giggle inwardly at how simple it is. Flowey the flower... Flower's Flowey? Flowey, daughter of Flower? Interesting.

"I think it's cute."
"Do you say that about everything?"
"Nope~, just about cute things."

You stick your tongue out at Ana to emphasize your response, but she only smirks back. Flower giggles a little. Then her eyes go back and forth between her daughter (?) and you. "Um... I don't want to be rude, but... I think it would be better if I stay alone with Flowey for now?"

You have not the slightest idea about how to raise an evolved flower that turned intelligent, but you can see that the newborn seems to like spending time with Flower. So you just nod and absentmindedly give Strength a hug goodbye while you are at it. Autumn is next and then Chi; they all helped you a lot today.

But now it is time for bed.

. . .

. . .

There is only inky blackness, filled with an echoing voice.

"Look, I made Nicholas bigger!"

The voice is overshadowed by screeching and blubbering, followed by a terrified scream.
"Mama? What's wrong? Isn't he pretty? Look, he wants to play!"

You can only hear the scream stopping with a wet tearing noise. A dull thud... then just dripping.

"Oh... I guess I am a Magical Girl now... Mama fainted, too. Um... should I...?"
Wet sloshing as well as tapping of something hard on wood. "Nicholas? Oh... I guess? Okay, let's run away together!"

There was something really upsetting in your dreams tonight. You can not remember any details, though... why is it that so many of them elude you recently?

Sighing, you get out of bed and prepare for the day. The new sandals Chi gave you are nice and soft, so you decide to wear those today; it is already warm outside, though also misty.

You catch yourself mindlessly staring outside and get back to buttoning up your shirt, then wash your faces after everything else is done. Breakfast is a little tense, though not in a bad way. News about Flower's new creation are already spreading, even though no one but you and Ana saw it just yet. There seems to be quite some interest in the matter.

Not that it should concern you right now; that mission still hangs over your head... at least Strength did not say that anything bad happened just yet, but it is only a matter of time. Especially because she will go do it herself tomorrow if you have not made up your mind.

Ugh, at least you have a few hours of classes to take your mind off of this. After that, though...

Lost Cradle - Brave SOULS
[X] Go on a mission
-[X] Lost Cradle
--[X] With Chitin Dancer
--[X] With Soul Queller

Class lets out way too soon for your liking. You made up your mind sometime in-between, it is time to get this over with.

The first thing you do after leaving the room is taking Ana aside, though. The two of you wander down the hallway and towards your first goal of the day. "Remember what I told you about the mission Strength offered to me?"

"Yes... are you going?"

A quiet nod is the only response you give. Be it either through the connection or because she is that smart, Ana can read what bothers you easily. "Without me?"

Another nod. Your sister pings you with disappointment, but also a sense of relief. "It's okay, I... I'm not sure I could do this. I mean, that other mission in China was hard and it only worked because I could concentrate on things that don't actually live. But... this would be fighting other people and..."

Ana's voice gets weaker the more she says until finally cutting off; you do understand what she wants to say, though. A girl so well-made for murder is not the best choice when your objective is to capture someone. She would have done it without hesitation if you asked her, though. "I know. I would love to take you, but I don't want to risk either you or them getting hurt. Brave Heart is crazy strong, so I'm going to ask Soul and Chi for help."

There is another surge of worry, but it is somewhat mitigated by understanding. Ana does her best to hide the frown behind a smile and almost succeeds. "That sounds good. I'm going to play with Flower and Flowey today, I guess... oh, and Sky wanted me to help her with something, too. So... I guess I'll leave you to it?"

""Okay. Have fun, sis~!""

Your sing-song has her blush and look around really quick to see if anyone heard, then she flashes you a pout and rushes off. It might even have made you feel bad, were it not for the fondness you can clearly feel coming from her.

. . .

. . .

Soul is not in her room. At least Igni is there, so you use the moment to chat and tell her about Flowey. You keep quiet about how Flower made her, but the general situation seems to catch Igni's interest somewhat. Maybe you can get her to go look by herself?

Either way, talking to her is getting a little easier after a few days of doing it. What you make sure not to mention at all is the fact you are seeing Brave Heart soon, though; bringing up the fight where your friend almost died would definitely not help.

At least she puts down her book and actually goes to eat lunch. She even tells you where Soul is, on the training grounds. So you make that your next destination before splitting up to save some time.

Talking to Soul is really easy, she immediately agrees to help. You pretend to not see the bitter expression worming its way on her face as she follows you to Strength.

Chi is not much more difficult to ask and much easier to find. She does pause from her sewing -with several hundred spiders spinning silk together into cloth- to talk to you. Once you bring up the mission and that you would like her to help, the older girl only thinks about it for a few moments; then she wanders into another room for a minute and comes back somewhat different... a bit smaller, maybe?

"What did you do?"
"Oh... uh... I'm parking my skeleton back here so I can go all-out properly."

You decide not to ask any more about the matter.

Once the four of you are together and Ludger is happily staying with Winter, Strength sits you down in her office. Chi and Soul eye each other curiously, though neither of them seems to object to the other's presence. They shook hands before and everything, so that is one moment of trouble averted.

"Okay, let's see... I already messaged Queen- ah, Clockwork Queen, I mean... she's leading our group in the field. Anyway, I told her to make camp on the border of Kursk for today; the city's been abandoned for years and with how far the pursuers are behind them, they will be somewhere further towards its center. That's where you can get them the easiest today."

Strength picks up a few sheets of paper -the same report she held last time you talked to her- and holds it out to you. "Here is everything I have on those three girls and a map of the city. You can make a plan on the way, it's close enough to use our hovercraft-" "Your what?"

There is a tense moment of Soul and Strength staring at each other; it ends with the latter shrugging. "Well, yeah. A hovercraft, flies pretty smoothly to boot. It's not particularly high-ranged, though. Faster than most of the girls here."

You take that in with a curious nod before turning back to the report in your hand.

What to do...

Note: the plan you choose is counted as one that the whole team came up with. Having it consist of asking someone else for a plan will make it become "Wing it."

General Information:
-urban fighting is going to be a thing in this mission; the greenest areas you are going to find are smaller parks that start to overgrow surrounding blocks

-Clockwork Queen is combat ready in case she is needed, but prefers to protect the girls under her care; most of them have hardly any experience, ranging from age 13 to 16
--the only outlier is Magical Girl Judge, who went down with the flu just this morning and is not available to assist

-the weather is cloudy, with slight chances of rain later in the day

-your ride moves at 200mph, you will reach Kursk in a bit more than two hours (time of arrival: ca. 14:30)

-what little observation could be done from afar shows that a dozen regular UES-soldiers is with the opposing Magical Girls; they are organised in squads of four, each of which assists one girl.
--the UES-MGs usually move in a loose triangle with Unyielding Paladin at the tip, but a few dozen metres in-between each other.

Seriously though, your team has four of the smallest girls that live in Kibo... even Flower is taller than Soul and Chi.

On a sidenote, I have decided to make finding Updates belonging to missions easier; each of those now has the mission's name added to the Threadmark.

Non-Canon: A Lonely Void Between The Stars
I was talking to @justinkal and @Mellithae on Discord yesterday and we got to a rather specific topic. Some Abilities can be directly tied to an Affinity (Such as either of your Veils to Sun/Moon), which means that they cease functioning if said Affinity is shut down by Affinity Kill.

Two Minds Joined In Harmony is tied to your Balance; that Affinity getting shut down would make seriously weird things happen. It would not shut down the Ability, though. Justinkal asked about the theoretical case where it actually was shut down and one other thing happened... so here we are.

Warning: This Omake will explore the topic of Loss as well as Depression. Do not read it if you are sensitive to either of them.

The moment it connects and tears into your body, something breaks. You can feel a horrible, horrible pain for but an instant, as if you were torn apart at the base.

Then darkness claims you.

. . .
Line Is Broken
. . .

You do not know how long it was since everything became dark. Things gradually start to realign, but you do not actually think. You do not need to to know something is missing. Something important.

Some time later, you realise with growing horror.

Eva!

A part of you is missing, a big part. A part that was there for you, that was you. It's gone! The familiar warmth and gentle thoughts are no more, leaving behind a gaping hole where you know they should be. You can not feel anything but yourself. Only Pris... no, Rico. You are no longer Priscilla, can no longer be. Half of you is not there.

It feels so lonely... it is so impossible.
You should be dead.

[ERROR]

. . .
Break Not Found
. . .

The first thing you hear upon waking is a faint breathing. Your eyelids slowly slide open to reveal your room, just like you remember it being. Having only one set of eyes is weird.

Your chest clenches horribly, but it brings no pain. Just a feeling of emptiness that already dominated your dreams. With a slight turn, you find Anastasia by your bedside. Her blond hair is disheveled and she naps quietly in a chair.

A girl no older than you, someone whom you cared for enough to include her into what used to be a budding hive mind. But now? Seeing her in such a state does not make you feel anything. It should though, should it not?

What is more, your connection with her is gone as well.
For some reason, it does not bother you next to everything else.

Don't cry.

You just turn your head back towards the ceiling, its pristine white sight allowing you to just lie without having to think. Thoughts of getting up cross your mind, but are quickly discarded. What sense is there in doing anything without you... without Eva?

So you just contemplate everything and nothing, waiting for something to happen.

"Ugh... oh. Pris? You're awake!"
Until Ana wakes up and almost shouts at you. You blink and turn her way in response, keeping down the urge to vomit at the reminder. "Not Pris. Eva is gone, so I'm just Rico."

Pris is the amalgamation of you both. With one missing, you can no longer have that name. Ana flinches and fresh tears gather in her eyes, but she quickly wipes them away with a sad nod. "I know... I... I don't know what to say. It all happened so fast... She hit Eva and then you both screamed and fell and... and she just killed Eva without caring at all. Then I killed her..."

Ana shakes and you have half a mind to take her hand for comfort. But which comfort could you possibly give right now? The question makes you reconsider, dropping the limb again before she notices. There are other urges, to shout or cry or break something... but what good would any of that do?

You can not remember ever having felt like this. Everything is so bleak right now.

"...you've been here a full day, are you hungry?"
"No..."
"Oh, okay... thirsty?"
"No."

It is not even a lie. You do not feel like having anything, your stomach as cold as the rest of you. In fact, you just want her to... "Go away..."

The reaction is instantaneous; Ana's face falls and she slowly lowers her head in response. The shaking gets stronger, but stops when she gets up quietly. "Okay..."

It is little more than a whisper and she sees herself out, making you realise with horror that you just hurt your dearest friend. A part of you wants to call her back, to apologise, but... this is your own fault, is it not?

You do not say anything, just let her leave to cry and silently apologise.

. . .
Line No Longer Recognised
. . .

The sun rose behind the curtains and it is brighter outside when Ana returns. She washed up and got changed... and she has a tray with food and juice. "I'm back and I brought breakfast."

You are still not hungry and tell her so, but the girl just purses her lips and shakes her head. "Nope, not having that. You have to eat something or you get sick."

Does that really matter much?

You do not say it out loud, but turning away from Ana and going back to staring at the ceiling ought to get the message across.

It does not, though. She just sits down by your bedside and picks up a fork. "Come on, open up."

You do not and there is a long moment where you stare at each other over the piece of sausage. Ana's expression grows more grim and she slowly pulls back the hand. "Okay, have it your way. You are going to eat."

Then she takes the fork to her own mouth and starts chewing, slowly and deliberately. You watch with a hint of curiousity, wondering what Ana plans to do like this; that is, until she leans forward and presses her lips to yours, exploiting your surprised gasp to force the chewed meat right into your mouth and as deep as she can.

You swallow almost on instinct, coughing a little after the fact. Ana wipes her mouth and glares down at you. "You brought this upon yourself."

She continues to force feed you everything on the plate, including the whole glass of juice. You could resist, but there is no point in doing that, either. She does it again by dinnertime, and next morning and the day after...

It continues like that for a while, with other girls dropping by a few times before staying away. Spring and Flower come by rather often, even though you do not really talk to them. They do not mind just filling the silence with chatter, which is... nice. You can not bring yourself to smile or thank them, though.

Ludger stands guard by your bedside every night, but even he can not keep the nightmares away.

Then Bianca is there, with your mother right by her side. They both look horrified at seeing you, the realisation of how you must look like making you avert your eyes. The only times you take a bath or clean up is when Ana forces you, which is the same as most anything else these days. Strength pulls you out of bed for walks for some reason, but this is all the exposure you have to the outside world.

You can not really remember anything that was said the moment your remaining family left. All that you do recall is the visible pain in your big sister's eyes, sympathy mixed with an understanding deeper than what you could expect. Mother is the only one who stays around, though. Bianca has so much to do... and you can not blame her for that. You want her to stay with you no matter how selfish it is, but in the end all of you know how wrong this is. No one says anything.

You start eating by yourself after their visit, slowly working yourself out of the abyss you fell into. The pain dulls over time, Eva's absence becoming less prominent in your mind at least during daytime.

Don't cry.

At some point, you decide to push it out of your mind. Eva would not want you to be a mess like this forever, too. You are sure of that.

Don't cry.

Getting up by yourself is an ordeal in itself, with every fiber of you wanting to just lie back down a little longer. You force yourself on your belly instead, then push and sit up. Ana flinches out of her seat at the sounds, the book she has been reading dropping to the ground with a dull thud. "Rico? What is it, do you need to go pee?"

"No... I'm going to do something."
"Oh. What is it?"
"Don't know..."

She does not ask any more, just quietly follows you out of the room. Ludger shadows the both of you.

Ana stays by your side and helps with everything she can... she used to try sleeping with you, but her hugs felt way too familiar and you pushed her away with barely suppressed tears at the time. Near everything she does these days reminds you of your sister.

You suppress that thought, too. For right now, you just want to do something, anything.

Several girls you pass on your aimless wandering stop to chat a little, but the conversations do not leave lasting impressions on you; they are not worth remembering anyway, just casual chatter without any meaning overall.

At some point you meet your mother who is talking to Spring, but their attention quickly shifts once they notice you. The same concerned questions, the same answers... Spring does offer you something, though: "Say... if you don't know what to do, how about some sparring? I could make a few summons for you to practice on?"

Your mother does not like the idea at all, you can tell at a glance. To you however, the idea of getting back into shape is tempting. There are still people suffering out there, are there not? If you got stronger... maybe you could protect them from having to feel like this?

So you agree and are led to the training grounds.

"I am the radiance of the future, Magical Girl Primordial Sun!"
There is a bitter feeling on your tongue over the irony in those words, as well as a cold disappointment when the familiar echo of Eva's phrase coming in synch with yours remains absent.

Right after your armour forms itself and the veil brightens up your direct surroundings with sunlight however, you notice that something is different. There used to be five spells you knew; two your own, two from your twin, and one that you cast together.

One of Eva's is still there, warped and weird to your senses even without casting it. The other... is gone, though replaced by something new. Something wrong and also right. The thought of using it makes your fingers twitch, the sense of power its presence provides unsettling to your mind.

After a moment of thought, you decide to test it. "Spring? Can you do something stronger than trees?"

The older girl gives you a surprised look that quickly morphs into a frown, but she nods. "I can, but are you sure?"
"Yes."

There is a small audience is what you notice absentmindedly, not that it matters. Your mother and the Seasons are all there too, watching worriedly.

"Blossom!"
Spring's voice rings loud and clear just as usual, but this time her magic does not form into small forms rising from the ground. It makes a few huge things come.

(Blossom roll: scuttled, set to 100
10 Flora Guardians summoned)

They rise, each one at least eight metres tall. Ethereal fog gently emanates from their green bodies as they regard their summoner, then their surroundings with animalistic interest. All of them together only barely manage to stay within the bound of the open field. There is oooing and aaaing from the audience, even some applause.

You regard them with casual disinterest, then nod at Spring. She quickly leaves to join everyone else at the sidelines.

It does not really matter how pretty they are, though you might have cared in the past. Your scepter rises, but you frown and push it into the ground to stand by your side. This will not be necessary right now. Instead, you raise both hands and grasp this irregularity within your magic, have it rise up and power outward right into the first being. Your voice sounds almost hollow as you intone its name to make the spell take shape: "EmPtY VOiD"

Some people in the audience grab their heads in pained grimaces at the sound... and from your hands forward spills a malevolent vortex to engulf half of the field. It only covers seven of the ten creatures at first, but they are quickly devoured; the rest are pulled inside while the first are still screeching in fright and pain.

(Empty Void: +350000 Base Damage, no dice = 350,000 Total Damage per piece
Flora Guardian 1-10: +2000 Base Resilience, no dice due to existential terror = 2,000 Total Damage Reduction per piece

348,000 Total End Damage per piece

Large Enemy(50%): 174,000 Total End Damage per piece

174,000 Final End Damage per piece

Flora Guardian 1-10 Health: 35,000 - 174,000 = -139,000 per piece)

They become undone within moments, the vortex swirling for a moment longer before dissolving. You had a hard time not making it suck in the audience; going by their shocked expressions, they definitely felt the pull.

Everything is silent as you regard the patch of nothing that your magic produced. Actually commanding it forward pulled off a plug somewhere within your mind, making all the feelings come back up. You quietly drop to your knees.

Don'tCryDon'tCryDon'tCryDon'tCry-

You do not cry.
You scream, up to the heavens above and hell below. Until your throat burns and your voice becomes hoarse, you scream.

Only then do you cry, feeling arms all around you but not any warmer for it.

You can never be whole again.

[X] Plan Swift Collection
-[X] Setup: Do a flyby of the city to spot the UES team. Have Chitin Dancer setup in an area with narrow streets and keep watch. Gather Soul Queller and beeline for the UES Magical Girls
-[X] Dive-in: Soul Queller will land an initial strike on Supreme Tech (gently please), then try to tie up the other two girls. Sun and Moon should use Scorching Sunlight on the other two girls, then attempt to disable Supreme Tech with bludgeoning blows from their scepters.
-[X] Up Up and Away: Use flight to escape with the hopefully disabled Supreme Tech. Blast buildings down to make it harder to follow you. Head towards Chitin Dancer. Heal up.
-[X] Welcome to my Parlor...: (Actually I expect this should be after the fold, as it were) If followed use long-range Scorching Sunlight on Unyielding Paladin to weaken her (Try dropping a building on her if it seems practical), if Brave Heart is rushing ahead have Chitin Dancer trap her in a web and thump her into submission.

It takes a while to agree on something workable, but you have the time. Chi and Soul are both fine with their respective parts, too. It is a little sad Chi never tried to turn herself into several smaller versions of herself; you got the idea while planning. She did say she would play around with that idea later, though.

The sky is a little darker by the time you leave the hovercraft, right outside of Kursk's border. This is not because of the time, though; rain seems to be on the table soon.

"...are you alright?"
Soul looks back and forth between the three of you, a mixture of concern and grim written all over her face. Chi just shrugs while setting a few spiders over each of your transformed forms and ignoring your flinches. "Just peachy."

There are a few things on your mind; whether it was the right choice to bring these two, if Judge is okay and whether you can go see her afterwards... but aside from that, you have been worried about your opponents as well; these girls are incredibly strong.

Now however, those worries are mostly gone, pushed back to make room for more important thoughts. The time to ponder is over, you need to concentrate and be your very best. A double nod is given to Soul, who offers a weak smile in return.

The three of you check the transmitter again to make sure it does disable remote-detonation of Unyielding Paladin's and Supreme Tech's bombs; only then do you point upwards. "Alright. Let's get going."

With that, you rise to the sky while Chi quickly wanders into one of the buildings. Soul probably does not notice because she has no idea what to look for, but you can see the faint, skittering forms of thousands of spiders just a few seconds later. A chitinous flood unseen to eyes on the ground, quickly dispersing throughout a whole block and further. Only a scant few remain with you.

"...you girls seriously need to work on your speed. This is a casual stroll to me."

Soul flies ahead, so she can not see you blush; not that it is particularly visible under your protective veils. In return, you are plenty visible... but so is the large sphere hanging in the sky just a few dozen metres away. It hovers gently and once you saw where it flies, you spot another one far away on the same path.

That must be Supreme Tech's weapon. They have to be nearby.

...

Actually finding them, it turns out, is much more difficult. Even with the weapons lazily tracing their paths and your knowledge that their control range is limited, you can not find any trace of the group you are after.

At least that gives you some time to look for a good ambush spot in the city; there are a few narrow streets, but most of them not close to each other.

After a while, you notice something and gently poke the tiny spider on your shoulder before pointing down at a place; dilapidated and halfway collapsed buildings block most of the cracked street, forming a small labyrinth at an intersection. There are a few clicks by your ear -the most noise Chi can make with that few spiders- and the crawlies on all three of you quickly go to hide. You can put them to the ground later.

When you turn to go back to search however... you see her.

Unpleasant memories of previous meetings are cast aside, but you can not stop yourself from shivering. She is staring right up at you, sword pointed at the ground and a weak glimmer surrounding her.

Everything stills for a moment as your eyes meet even over such a distance. Brave Heart's expression is unreadable, her pink tunic flapping lightly in the breeze... and then you see it, a reflection off to the side where none should be. Thanks to your light brightening up the place, one hiding girl has already been found in one of the nearby houses.

"Stay behind me and keep to the plan."

And then, without caring for the obvious trap, Soul dives for the girl. She speeds up so quickly you could not even follow her closely if you wanted to, gracefully rolling past three salvos of bullets and a handful of energy lances. The former came from squads of soldiers, the latter from Brave Heart herself.

Once your friend reaches ground level, something big bursts out from behind a wall right by her side while Brave herself rushes forward. Soul seems like water, flowing around both swings with a grace you can not hope to ever match.

The dust settles quickly, giving you a first glance at Unyielding Paladin.

She is tall and her lips are pressed into a firm line over having missed, but Soul just twirls around them and rushes forward. Right toward where you saw the light before. To make sure they do not follow her, you quickly raise your scepters. ""Scorching Sunlight!""

Beams lash out and you watch with a sense of satisfaction how both of your opponents whirl around in surprise. They are far too late to do anything, though.

(Scorching Sunlight: +20480 Base Damage, +2048 Surprise, +7 dice, +100 Rebalanced Existence = 22,635 Total Damage
Brave Heart: +600 Base Resilience, -300 holyshitwhatthefuck, +38 dice, +100 Existence of Stories Out Of Balance = 338 Total Damage Reduction

22,297 Total End Damage

Unwavering Shield (-4,211): 18,086 Total End Damage

Heroes Never Die: Damage Negated
Armour Removal negated)

(Scorching Sunlight: +20480 Base Damage, +2048 Surprise, +23 dice, +500 Rebalanced Existence =23,051 Total Damage
Unyielding Paladin: +9000 Base Resilience, +87 dice, +500 Legendary Existence Out Of Balance = 9087 Total Damage Reduction

13,964 Total End Damage

Unwavering Shield (-4,430): 9,534 Total End Damage
Shieldwall (50%): 4,767 Total End Damage

Unyielding Paladin Health: 22,500 - 4,767 = 17,733
Armour Removed All-Enduring Plate)

Brave Heart's magic absorbs your light wholesale, but the other beam punches through Unyielding Paladin's magical shield and bites deep into the girl's shoulder, making her frown in pain. Both stop, one out of obvious bafflement and the other to lay a hand on the wound; you only barely manage to pass above them before one casts her spell -"Healing Hand"- and pokes her sword at you, but misses. The other blade comes flying.

(Healing Hand: +4000 Base Heal, +286 dice = 4,286 Total Damage Healed

Unyielding Paladin Health: 17,733 + 4,286 = 22,019)

(Blade of Judgement: +495 18581 Base Damage, -9291 Just tickling a foot +12 dice, +9291 Magical Girl Slayer, x2 The Mighty Have Fallen Equality! = 18,593 Total Damage
Primordial Moon: +700 Base Resilience, +17 dice = 717 Total Damage Reduction

17,876 Total End Damage

Veil of the Lunar Goddess: Damage negated)

You can feel Brave Heart's magic try to do something to the already supercharged sword scraping by your foot, but suppress it without a second thought. The blade is ultimately repelled by your magic and vanishes a moment later, but you pay it no mind.

"Hey, wait! Stop!"
"Surely they're going to do just that."
"Shut up!"

She sounds more annoyed than angry, much different from last time. On the other hand, Paladin is completely calm.
At least Soul finally reached your actual target, though she has to weave past a hail of bullets from another orb floating nearby. Supreme Tech...

...narrows her eyes and clenches a mist-covered fist at the blur that is your ally. "Skyfall!" Then Soul's sword hits her right in the stomach, but not before the one orb by her side and one in the alley right next to you explode violently.

(Soulsword: +3000 Base Damage, +2000 Horrific Speed Gap, +2530 dice = 8,530 Total Damage

There is an ugly clattering noise when Soul's weapon impacts; Supreme Tech is smashed into the wall by her side while the explosion she tried to catch you with rolls over your veils harmlessly; Soul herself somehow manages to phase through the explosion.

A weird feeling comes with the spell, but at least you can see that your friend's attack took hold; Supreme Tech was knocked out and where a machine-girl was before, there is now one of flesh and blood. Her transformation is gone. Another orb falls to the ground nearby though out of sight.

You are by Soul's side a moment later, exchanging nods with her as she turns to confront the opposition. You quickly pick up the downed girl before any of the soldiers can snatch her away... though they are only watching you for some reason. Three men and one woman, all clad in military green-and-brown uniforms... no one but you can see them from here. One of the men tips a finger to his temple before they all shoot their rifles. And miss by quite a bit.

You huddle closer together around the downed body anyway, feeling a little warmer at the fact you seem to have more friends here than you thought. Then you hoist Supreme Tech up and turn-

(Intercept:

Soulsword: +3000 Base Damage, +1252 dice, +400 Hostile Myth Effect = 4,152 Total Damage
Silver Bulwark: +2000 Base Damage, +500 Unexpectedly Nimble, +1304 dice, +500 Hostile Legend Effect = 4,304 Total Damage

152 difference, Silver Bulwark wins

Silver Bulwark: +152 Intercept Damage, +1845 dice, +500 Hostile Legend Effect = 2,497 Total Damage
Soul Queller: +1500 Base Resilience, +1638 dice, +400 Mythical Existence = 3,538 Total Damage Reduction

No damage)

-only to find Soul's sword being cut in two from Paladin's swing. It has too little strength to hurt her after meeting the other weapon, but you can see the shock on your friend's face. She darts past the much taller girl and takes to the air again, where you quickly follow.

"That's not... come back!"

Brave Heart shouts after you, which you ignore. Keep to the plan...
You got Supreme Tech, that is a good start. Ana pokes you with warmth from afar, having noticed your the feeling of success. You indulge in it for a moment and poke her back.

"Bloody bitch broke my weapon... hey, pass her over. I'm faster than you anyway and my hands are free."

It only takes a moment until Soul holds your first catch of the day, but then you all have to dodge another hail of bullets. She does it much more easily than either of you, but at least you get out of the way. If she sees you flailing, she does not say anything... that is nice of her.

Then you look back down and find Brave Heart herself rushing after you, whatever Supreme Tech left with her spell having dissipated by now. Around her gleam more than a dozen of the same spears she threw earlier, taking off the moment you turn.

By the time you realise they are coming for you, they are already there, a tide of light crushing into your magical field.

It overpowers all of your magic in an instant and crushes it inwards, you only barely manage to redirect it from Sun to Moon. Ethereal strands connect your bodies for a moment as the spears slam into Sun without relaying their momentum; you gasp as stabbing wounds open all over one body where the other gets hit, both of your bodies thrown aside only a few metres in different directions.

Moon soon is coated in a layer of crimson that turns almost green, covering and covered by bluish gleams. Pain explodes somewhere in the back of your head, but you bear with it and push it away. You are not dead and Brave Heart is being left behind by the fact she has to smash through buildings to follow you. Soul throws you a concerned glance, but you wave her off. An equivalent to that is what you do to Ana, who got worried over something you might have sent while not paying attention.

After redirecting your course and stopping to flail, you raise both your scepters at Moon. ""Soothing Moonlight!""

There is some trouble stringing as many beams together on Sun's end, but at least you manage two. A lot of the injuries you just sustained vanish about as fast as they appeared while you quickly make your way to where Chi is lying in wait. Some of her spiders got killed just now... ugh, they smell and you would rather wipe the stains off, but now is not the time.

A fat drop of water hits your face by the time everyone lands at 'your' intersection, making you look up. There is a faint glistening where Sun's brighter light gets reflected by silk hidden within rubble, cracks and everything else that could be counted as cover. Your position is very obvious with how dark the sky has become now. The beginning drizzle dampens everything though; Chi's threads become less visible even in direct light.

"Hang on."
Soul puts Supreme Tech down in a somewhat covered spot to protect her from the rain, leavin her for Chi to take care of. Then she drops her transformation and quickly reapplies it, sighing in relief with her sword back in hand. She left the hilt and blade back at the other place, where they were cut in two. "Much better."

You use the time to heal yourself also, taking a breath of relief once the wounds vanish entirely. Crushing noises come closer still, spiders dart around your feet and into their hiding places.

(Primordial Moon: Back to full Health)

You have one down and two to go, this can work.

And in this moment, the ruined wall to your left explodes in a shower of dust and debris to reveal Unyielding Paladin, charging in shield-first. Brave Heart follows right after her, sword ready and cloaked in mist of warring colours as actinic light plays over her form.

The smaller girl's eyes immediately zero in on you, making it clear who she is going to hit first. Then she jumps...

"Pr1SoN &f Si/k!"
Chitin Dancer's voice is jarring, screeching, roaring, grumbling; an inhuman wail that makes you all pause in shock for a moment while strands of silk shoot out from almost everywhere. They simply slide off of Unyielding Paladin wherever they touch, but rope around the surprised Brave Heart without a care for her attempt to get out of the way. "Oh, not agai-" "Here."

But before Chi can pull her away and out of sight, Paladin primly cuts through all the silk on one side and pulls her partner out in a single fluid movement; then she throws her your way with force.

(Silver Bulwark: Too little damage to hurt Brave Heart

25,190 Final End Damage

Primordial Moon Health: 98,781 - 25,190 = 73,591)

She hits you square in the chest, the force of her swing and momentum throwing you right through a wall to the other side and into a stuffing of silk that prevents Moon from leaving the field entirely. Brave Heart is watching the both of you, her magic still glowing brightly. Paladin keeps Soul at bay, making it impossible for her to bother the smaller UES-girl.

"This is your last chance. Surrender."

You quickly sneak in a healing spell while she still speaks, though Sun is in no position to join in.

21,180 Total Damage Healed

Primordial Moon Health: 73,591 + 21,180 = 94,771)

"And come out of there."

You dally only for a moment; now Brave Heart is really mad and you do not want to risk making her actually angry instead of just annoyed. Water splashes down ever stronger, making you almost lose sight of your surroundings if not for the lights shining; both of your bodies, Brave Heart, Unyielding Paladin, even Soul. Your arcane glows brighten the darkness, becoming beacons in what comes rather close to night itself.

But your sun is shining above these clouds, the moon hanging in the distance around the horizon... and you are not done yet.
