So. We have soul queller, chitin dancer, ourselves, and theoretically can get clockwork queen or judge.

Our opponents are:

Brave heart. Impossible to one-shot (and difficult to 2-shot), but not very heavy on the defense as long as it is split over several attacks. She can one-shot almost anyone with her spell, though we can save them with shining protector if our health is high enough. The unrevealed super is really scary. (My personal bet is affinity kill or possibly Auto max charge.)

Supreme Tech. A bunch of mystery effects, a limited range, and a bit of an anti-magic theme. Her offence appears near irrelevant, but I wouldn't count on that. She has no revealed defenses besides 2400 hp and 480 resilience.

Unyielding Paladin. A lot of defenses, her weapon probably does something horrible in intercepts. She can heal, can't have her mobility restricted, and has some kind of super mode.

4 soldiers with each MG. These are almost irrelevant, as long as we remember they exist. Hail of lead hurts, though I'm pretty sure sun and moon can take it. (It's just around 4k damage)

They move in a triangle with paladin at the front, and each is a few dozen meters apart.

Now, on to my tactics overview:

Brave heart isn't that hard to take down, but doing it with baleful eclipse requires an initial hit and then a leveled eclipse in the same turn, and I'd really rather not put ourselves at risk from her spell, especially sun. In the end, we just aren't the best choice against her. Could we do it? Sure. but it's not the best use of our resources.

Despite her previous losses to binding spells, that might not be the best choice - she knows about that weakness. Maybe ask Chitin to bind her if she gets an opportunity, but let's not jump straight to that. Instead, I would place Soul Queller as our best choice for dealing with her. Effortless dodge is perfect against her spell, and Queller has the APT and experience to take her down and do so nonlethally. Unless she's better off against one of the others, we should stay with that arrangement.

Paladin is very hard to take down, but I doubt she is going to pose a huge threat to Moon from raw damage. The real threat she poses is as a healer/buffer. I don't think she could hurt Sun either, and shining protector is a nice safety net. Soul Queller could beat her, but she doesn't really shine in that matchup. Chitin can't do much of anything - her bind spell doesn't affect paladin. So we can either stall her with moon, or fight her with sun. We should watch out for her super mode, but we are probably the best ones to face that, because our balance affinity works well against the increased existence bonuses.

Supreme Tech...We don't know much about her. I think any of us could take her out, but I wouldn't be too surprised if not. She has just barely (under a hundred) enough health and resilience to take our eclipse, but we could level it. Alternatively, we could just send Chi to prison her. Or maybe doing that much nonlethal damage would help incapacitate her, maybe paired with a bite from an attack tarantula? Either way, I'd like her down really fast. I don't see anything risky on her sheet, but she still probably has something, and mysteries are hard to plan for.

The soldiers can be taken down by Chi's prison, if they are in range. Soul Queller can handle them. Ironically, the biggest problem they pose is that they stop sun from using her scepter near them.

Regardless, we'll want to use shining protector against big attacks when possible. We may want to remove knocked-out foes from paladin's reach, or have chi bind them.

They start spread out, so we'll want to try to take advantage of that. It's an urban environment, so there should be enough cover for chi to sneak her spiders in near tech. Soul queller is way faster than us, so she can fly past paladin to get to brave heart while we distract/delay/fight paladin.

[] Plan Ambush Contingencies
-[] Engage once they are moving again.
-[] Cover Sun in a tarp and don't use any spells on the approach. Also give Soul goggles/glasses to stop dazzle.
--[] Chitin Dancer tries to approach Supreme tech as stealthily as possible, with enough spiders to bind 4 people.
---[] Chitin dancer leaves some spiders with sun to communicate when she is in position. (Well, as near as she thinks she can get.)
--[] Moon approaches from the front and starts the fight with a Scorching Sunlight at Paladin
---[] Sun follows a few dozen meters behind her and joins the fight once Brave Heart is engaged.
--[] Soul Queller goes straight for brave heart once moon attacks.
---[] Soul Queller takes out brave heart and her 4 soldiers. Watch out for the spell!
-[] Once Moon attacks, Chitin Dancer binds Supreme tech and the soldiers.
--[] If it doesn't work, she tries to retreat and whichever of sun or moon is more available takes over fighting her.
---[] Destroy her weapons if you can, otherwise just defend until you can...
---[] Try to baleful eclipse her, if you can get your other body in a position to cast.
-[] Use Shining protector against dangerous attacks (most notably brave heart's spell) if needed. Cast Soothing moonlight to heal whenever you need to.
-[] Once Chitin Dancer is available (from binding tech or Pris taking over), she tries to bind the other soldiers and, if she gets a chance, Brave Heart.
-[] Once Soul Queller is available, she helps with whatever is a problem. Unyielding Paladin potentially waking Brave Heart is considered a major problem.
-[] Sun and Moon try to stall Paladin. Don't kill her, don't synchronize Scorching Sunlight.
--[] If she is badly injured, Baleful Eclipse till she falls over
--[] Sun, restrain your detonate if necessary to avoid hitting the soldiers.
--[] If you can, use her as cover from the Soldiers' shots.
--[] Try not to let her block anything particularly dangerous with her shield.
--[] Use Synchronized attacks or Scorching Sunlight to break her damage barrier
--[] Be careful if she does anything dramatic.
-[] If you get a chance, use Supernova to create an opening for your allies.

[] Save It~

Can't remember whether we trained nonlethal Scepter attacks, and don't want to check right now...

Anyone see any holes?

EDIT: They may be in a different configuration when not moving, but we have no clue what configuration, so I made a plan for when they are moving.

We didn't train non-lethal, but we did train non-Detonate.

Also, might want to include a mention of giving eye protection to Soul and having Pris use Supernova to create openings for other people (especially useful for helping Chi catch an MG in a bind).

Sure, I'll edit those in. No one's voted for my plan yet, so no problems changing it.

We can probably assume they group up when not on the move. In other words, if we hit them while they are at rest we should expect Paladin standing watch and ready to leap at everyone's defenses.

The conservation of detail would probably have the rain forecast be relevant if we decide to wait them out and they finally go on the move.

[] Plan ambush
-[] bring anti glare googles for everyone who needs them
-[] Have chi scout the area stealthily to get the position of the enemy and their formation
-[] get into position
-[] have chi lockdown as many soldiers as she can or Brave Heart in the opening round, opening the way to take out Brave Heart
--[] she can run interference after that, trying to stun and lockdown enemies which do something we do not want them to do
-[] Soul Queller goes to take out Brave Heart asap
-[] Pris runs interference to keep the other enemies from interfering
--[] Dazzle the enemies with Supernova from a little distance
--[] Scorching Sunlight on Unyielding Paladin

the intention is to take out Brave Heart soonest, since she is the most likely to actually kill one of our girls.
then snowball the advantage to take out the others.

The dazzling supernova has a chance to make some soldiers miss outright, and will at least give them some negative modifier on their attack string. Enough distance should be had as to not kill them.
The Scorching Sunlight on Unyielding Paladin has a twofold purpose, it does test Paladin's defenses and tells the other enemies that they are better off finding cover.

You guys are way too chatty :V

By the way, @Mellithae, your plan doesn't show up in the tally for some reason.

Edit : Nevermind, that was just me.

The holes are the following:
1. We need to wait until they move, or they wont be in their triangle formation.
2. The next is that If we redirect DMG to moon, it wont get reduced and therefore need to be careful not get defeated.
3. Another Point is, that we need to defeat them quickly before they realize how strong/dangerous we are. Because if Brave Heart goes all out using her strongest attacks and the other 2 support her, then look at 2.
4. Tech has a anti-magic theme and like I fear the whole time, she could have a dispell ability or something of that sort. (Even when I hope she doeant have that and that putting her into a lockdown is enough.)
5. Baleful Eclipse needs to be upgraded or we cant hurt Paladin with it (except we have really big luck). If we dont do Dmg with it we cant knock her out. (maybe our melee-attacks wont hurt her either if we consider what a heavy tank Paladin is)
6. We dont have abilitys or training of destroying enemy weapons, therefore how should we do it then? (Against Tech)

7. If we knock Brave Heart out she shouldnt wake up from a healing spell. Just like our captured MG from the last mission. Thats why knocking the other MG´s out fast is really important, because then Paladins heals wont be that problematic.

These are the problems I can spot directly now.

But I really like how all started to discuss things with each other.

For this point at least, one method is laying a trap and then going all bright and shiny to make them come to us. Airborne Moon can easily tank any long range attacks they have access to, meaning they need to approach us to attack.

You know that this is a REALLY obvious trap. Even more so, because it will expose that there are others than the group they follow. Basically it gives our advantage of surprise away.

True, but a trap can still be effective when they don't know the form that the trap will take.

Even if they know there will be a trap, they still won't know what to expect from it. We'd still have the advantage of having prepared the battleground in our own favor.

Traps can still work, if the enemy has no other choice, than taking that trap. If not they can be cautious enough to prepare themselves enough. Especially if we dont know all of their abilitys and therefore dont know how they can/will react.

This might be a very stupid question, but would it really prevent the plan from working if the enemies were grouped ?
I suppose they are smart enough to stay in the Paladin's spell range even while moving.
We only need to stop the Paladin from reinforcing her allies, via Scorching Sunlight to the face according to the plan. How close she is to the others shouldn't matter, right ?

Non-Canon: A Lonely Void Between The Stars
I was talking to @justinkal and @Mellithae on Discord yesterday and we got to a rather specific topic. Some Abilities can be directly tied to an Affinity (Such as either of your Veils to Sun/Moon), which means that they cease functioning if said Affinity is shut down by Affinity Kill.

Two Minds Joined In Harmony is tied to your Balance; that Affinity getting shut down would make seriously weird things happen. It would not shut down the Ability, though. Justinkal asked about the theoretical case where it actually was shut down and one other thing happened... so here we are.

Warning: This Omake will explore the topic of Loss as well as Depression. Do not read it if you are sensitive to either of them.

The moment it connects and tears into your body, something breaks. You can feel a horrible, horrible pain for but an instant, as if you were torn apart at the base.

Then darkness claims you.

. . .
Line Is Broken
. . .

You do not know how long it was since everything became dark. Things gradually start to realign, but you do not actually think. You do not need to to know something is missing. Something important.

Some time later, you realise with growing horror.

Eva!

A part of you is missing, a big part. A part that was there for you, that was you. It's gone! The familiar warmth and gentle thoughts are no more, leaving behind a gaping hole where you know they should be. You can not feel anything but yourself. Only Pris... no, Rico. You are no longer Priscilla, can no longer be. Half of you is not there.

It feels so lonely... it is so impossible.
You should be dead.

[ERROR]

. . .
Break Not Found
. . .

The first thing you hear upon waking is a faint breathing. Your eyelids slowly slide open to reveal your room, just like you remember it being. Having only one set of eyes is weird.

Your chest clenches horribly, but it brings no pain. Just a feeling of emptiness that already dominated your dreams. With a slight turn, you find Anastasia by your bedside. Her blond hair is disheveled and she naps quietly in a chair.

A girl no older than you, someone whom you cared for enough to include her into what used to be a budding hive mind. But now? Seeing her in such a state does not make you feel anything. It should though, should it not?

What is more, your connection with her is gone as well.
For some reason, it does not bother you next to everything else.

Don't cry.

You just turn your head back towards the ceiling, its pristine white sight allowing you to just lie without having to think. Thoughts of getting up cross your mind, but are quickly discarded. What sense is there in doing anything without you... without Eva?

So you just contemplate everything and nothing, waiting for something to happen.

"Ugh... oh. Pris? You're awake!"
Until Ana wakes up and almost shouts at you. You blink and turn her way in response, keeping down the urge to vomit at the reminder. "Not Pris. Eva is gone, so I'm just Rico."

Pris is the amalgamation of you both. With one missing, you can no longer have that name. Ana flinches and fresh tears gather in her eyes, but she quickly wipes them away with a sad nod. "I know... I... I don't know what to say. It all happened so fast... She hit Eva and then you both screamed and fell and... and she just killed Eva without caring at all. Then I killed her..."

Ana shakes and you have half a mind to take her hand for comfort. But which comfort could you possibly give right now? The question makes you reconsider, dropping the limb again before she notices. There are other urges, to shout or cry or break something... but what good would any of that do?

You can not remember ever having felt like this. Everything is so bleak right now.

"...you've been here a full day, are you hungry?"
"No..."
"Oh, okay... thirsty?"
"No."

It is not even a lie. You do not feel like having anything, your stomach as cold as the rest of you. In fact, you just want her to... "Go away..."

The reaction is instantaneous; Ana's face falls and she slowly lowers her head in response. The shaking gets stronger, but stops when she gets up quietly. "Okay..."

It is little more than a whisper and she sees herself out, making you realise with horror that you just hurt your dearest friend. A part of you wants to call her back, to apologise, but... this is your own fault, is it not?

You do not say anything, just let her leave to cry and silently apologise.

. . .
Line No Longer Recognised
. . .

The sun rose behind the curtains and it is brighter outside when Ana returns. She washed up and got changed... and she has a tray with food and juice. "I'm back and I brought breakfast."

You are still not hungry and tell her so, but the girl just purses her lips and shakes her head. "Nope, not having that. You have to eat something or you get sick."

Does that really matter much?

You do not say it out loud, but turning away from Ana and going back to staring at the ceiling ought to get the message across.

It does not, though. She just sits down by your bedside and picks up a fork. "Come on, open up."

You do not and there is a long moment where you stare at each other over the piece of sausage. Ana's expression grows more grim and she slowly pulls back the hand. "Okay, have it your way. You are going to eat."

Then she takes the fork to her own mouth and starts chewing, slowly and deliberately. You watch with a hint of curiousity, wondering what Ana plans to do like this; that is, until she leans forward and presses her lips to yours, exploiting your surprised gasp to force the chewed meat right into your mouth and as deep as she can.

You swallow almost on instinct, coughing a little after the fact. Ana wipes her mouth and glares down at you. "You brought this upon yourself."

She continues to force feed you everything on the plate, including the whole glass of juice. You could resist, but there is no point in doing that, either. She does it again by dinnertime, and next morning and the day after...

It continues like that for a while, with other girls dropping by a few times before staying away. Spring and Flower come by rather often, even though you do not really talk to them. They do not mind just filling the silence with chatter, which is... nice. You can not bring yourself to smile or thank them, though.

Ludger stands guard by your bedside every night, but even he can not keep the nightmares away.

Then Bianca is there, with your mother right by her side. They both look horrified at seeing you, the realisation of how you must look like making you avert your eyes. The only times you take a bath or clean up is when Ana forces you, which is the same as most anything else these days. Strength pulls you out of bed for walks for some reason, but this is all the exposure you have to the outside world.

You can not really remember anything that was said the moment your remaining family left. All that you do recall is the visible pain in your big sister's eyes, sympathy mixed with an understanding deeper than what you could expect. Mother is the only one who stays around, though. Bianca has so much to do... and you can not blame her for that. You want her to stay with you no matter how selfish it is, but in the end all of you know how wrong this is. No one says anything.

You start eating by yourself after their visit, slowly working yourself out of the abyss you fell into. The pain dulls over time, Eva's absence becoming less prominent in your mind at least during daytime.

Don't cry.

At some point, you decide to push it out of your mind. Eva would not want you to be a mess like this forever, too. You are sure of that.

Don't cry.

Getting up by yourself is an ordeal in itself, with every fiber of you wanting to just lie back down a little longer. You force yourself on your belly instead, then push and sit up. Ana flinches out of her seat at the sounds, the book she has been reading dropping to the ground with a dull thud. "Rico? What is it, do you need to go pee?"

"No... I'm going to do something."
"Oh. What is it?"
"Don't know..."

She does not ask any more, just quietly follows you out of the room. Ludger shadows the both of you.

Ana stays by your side and helps with everything she can... she used to try sleeping with you, but her hugs felt way too familiar and you pushed her away with barely suppressed tears at the time. Near everything she does these days reminds you of your sister.

You suppress that thought, too. For right now, you just want to do something, anything.

Several girls you pass on your aimless wandering stop to chat a little, but the conversations do not leave lasting impressions on you; they are not worth remembering anyway, just casual chatter without any meaning overall.

At some point you meet your mother who is talking to Spring, but their attention quickly shifts once they notice you. The same concerned questions, the same answers... Spring does offer you something, though: "Say... if you don't know what to do, how about some sparring? I could make a few summons for you to practice on?"

Your mother does not like the idea at all, you can tell at a glance. To you however, the idea of getting back into shape is tempting. There are still people suffering out there, are there not? If you got stronger... maybe you could protect them from having to feel like this?

So you agree and are led to the training grounds.

"I am the radiance of the future, Magical Girl Primordial Sun!"
There is a bitter feeling on your tongue over the irony in those words, as well as a cold disappointment when the familiar echo of Eva's phrase coming in synch with yours remains absent.

Right after your armour forms itself and the veil brightens up your direct surroundings with sunlight however, you notice that something is different. There used to be five spells you knew; two your own, two from your twin, and one that you cast together.

One of Eva's is still there, warped and weird to your senses even without casting it. The other... is gone, though replaced by something new. Something wrong and also right. The thought of using it makes your fingers twitch, the sense of power its presence provides unsettling to your mind.

After a moment of thought, you decide to test it. "Spring? Can you do something stronger than trees?"

The older girl gives you a surprised look that quickly morphs into a frown, but she nods. "I can, but are you sure?"
"Yes."

There is a small audience is what you notice absentmindedly, not that it matters. Your mother and the Seasons are all there too, watching worriedly.

"Blossom!"
Spring's voice rings loud and clear just as usual, but this time her magic does not form into small forms rising from the ground. It makes a few huge things come.

(Blossom roll: scuttled, set to 100
10 Flora Guardians summoned)

They rise, each one at least eight metres tall. Ethereal fog gently emanates from their green bodies as they regard their summoner, then their surroundings with animalistic interest. All of them together only barely manage to stay within the bound of the open field. There is oooing and aaaing from the audience, even some applause.

You regard them with casual disinterest, then nod at Spring. She quickly leaves to join everyone else at the sidelines.

It does not really matter how pretty they are, though you might have cared in the past. Your scepter rises, but you frown and push it into the ground to stand by your side. This will not be necessary right now. Instead, you raise both hands and grasp this irregularity within your magic, have it rise up and power outward right into the first being. Your voice sounds almost hollow as you intone its name to make the spell take shape: "EmPtY VOiD"

Some people in the audience grab their heads in pained grimaces at the sound... and from your hands forward spills a malevolent vortex to engulf half of the field. It only covers seven of the ten creatures at first, but they are quickly devoured; the rest are pulled inside while the first are still screeching in fright and pain.

(Empty Void: +350000 Base Damage, no dice = 350,000 Total Damage per piece
Flora Guardian 1-10: +2000 Base Resilience, no dice due to existential terror = 2,000 Total Damage Reduction per piece

348,000 Total End Damage per piece

Large Enemy(50%): 174,000 Total End Damage per piece

174,000 Final End Damage per piece

Flora Guardian 1-10 Health: 35,000 - 174,000 = -139,000 per piece)

They become undone within moments, the vortex swirling for a moment longer before dissolving. You had a hard time not making it suck in the audience; going by their shocked expressions, they definitely felt the pull.

Everything is silent as you regard the patch of nothing that your magic produced. Actually commanding it forward pulled off a plug somewhere within your mind, making all the feelings come back up. You quietly drop to your knees.

Don'tCryDon'tCryDon'tCryDon'tCry-

You do not cry.
You scream, up to the heavens above and hell below. Until your throat burns and your voice becomes hoarse, you scream.

Only then do you cry, feeling arms all around you but not any warmer for it.

You can never be whole again.

As an apology for the downer, I am adding the Flora Guardian's sheet to Spring's known summons.

Edit: I would have given that sheet a crying Ram for a portrait... if I had found one.

Also, those replacement spells are terrifying.

Huh, surprised that went away for good. That's interesting to know.

So, the UES MGs are indoctrinated to believe that all MGs, including themselves, are horrible monsters, right?

How about baiting them into a trap by acting like a horrible monster?

Maybe fly into the city and start 'randomly' blowing up buildings?

The point is to convince them that MG aren't monsters after we capture them. It would be optimal to act the least monster like in this scenario, I think.

@Mellithae
Remove the line about trying to use weapon attacks non-lethally. Sun can't really do that (Moon probably could against soldiers though).

Also, we need some contingency for if the enemies aren't spread out in their formation at the start. Or a way to make them spread out before we begin fighting.

I would like to point towards the things I pointed out at flaws, because they wont work the way the plan is right now or at least dont make sense (like destroying the weapon).
