are you crazy. robespiere will eat them whole
better to have a trial
[X] Have the trial here in camp
If they just swear that oath, there's no problem. The National Convention is merely the stick with which to assure that they'll actually do it. "Take this deal I'm offering you, or else I'm throwing you to the Parisian mobs."

Oh, are we gonna get an update on what's happening outside Therese's activities? I'm interested to know what Napoleon's up to, did he help quell the Vendee uprising?

Quality over Quantity
Quantity is a quality of its own. How did France beat the reactionary hordes? Through mass mobilization! In other words, through quantity.
"Oh no, what ever shall we do? They'll kill us with their haute couture and extravagant taste in cuisine. The terror!" Brunswick feigns a fainting motion with his left arm over his head, dramatically caressing Kalckreuth with his right.
Has Brunswick seen the latest mode? It's truly something to lose your head over.

-[X] Demand an oath from them not to fight against France or its allies for the duration of this war. If they accept, release them. If they don't, you will keep them as your prisoners and take them with you to Paris: the National Convention will decide their fate!

I really want to use that +20 in a public trial so that a)They can go without Therese seemingly incompetent security with one of them having broke their legs and b)Stay on the good side of de Beauharnais and d'Oyré. But it seems like everyone is in agreement for this course of action. Well I guess the bonus will still apply here?

I would be willing to have a trial so as to decide what to do with the captured generals, provided that those who are voting for my plan would agree with that change...

Eh, something happened. I'll post the news update later today. Shouldn't affect your votes, in any way.

They'll be rolling their heads from the sheer amount of culture they'd experience.

so what about the ottoman empire do we have to be careful about them(i know they have declined significantly but still they are a sizable force)

If Napoleon doesn't invade Egypt will the Rosetta Stone ever be found? And will that have any long-term effects?
Well the Stone will be lost to history... thats the only thing we agreed on because it was luck that the stone was found.

Edit: Well... not entirely... we have a backup plan to who finds it, but it won't be anyone you know of.

Well... no translating hieroglyphics... no craze to discover ancient tombs and eygpt itself because we have no idea where to look... and it just becomes a less wealthy nation because of the lack of tourism

He's being merciful. His - and mine tbh - default reaction would be to throw them to the pre-comittee always so that their satisfied paranoia delays or cancels the snafu that is the terror at least until after the Vendee is dealt with.

There is still a sliver of a chance that the terror can be avoided and a way to do it is by not making Robespierre grandstand about traitors and concentrate on foreign enemies, or to be popular enough and argue against it by 'if I can forgive defeated enemies, we can forgive defeated misguided countrymen'.

Which doesn't have much chance with these stats and without further political support, that's why letting them go is 'merciful' and not necessarily wise, even if they keep their word.

To be fair, that quantity over quality approach did lead to demographic collapse.

Please, it's my only major issue with it. Taking them to Paris is a good as shooting them on the spot.

To General Napoleon (CGTM2002)
Oh, small idea I had, since my story with Davout was classified with sidestory, which suggests that it might be canon, here's a small thing Therese might do to help Napoleon out in his possible expedition.

To General Napoleon

Salutations, my old friend, it has been a long time. We both have come a long way since the chaos of the early years of the revolution, I became the hero of Valmy and the liberator of Mayence, quite the accomplishment for a young woman not even in the prime of her life, while you have also risen quite high from what I gathered, from a simple artillery officer, to General Vendemiaire to commander of the army of Italy and now it seems commander of the expedition to Egypt, your star has risen quite high, and may it rise even higher in the years to come.

Much has happened since we first met in the tribunal, much has changed and yet much still stay the same, when once there was chaos and madness within the National Convention, now there is naught but chaos and madness within the Committee of Public Safety, Robespierre has gone mad for all the world to see, he persecutes countless citizens with naught a whiff of pity. Britain pestered us then, now they pester us still, once it was Prussians and Austrians that caused the Republic much grief, it would seem that the Ottomans and Egyptians who will now cause you grief, to offset your inevitable grief, by commander Severin's recommendations, I am transferring a young officer from my army to yours, his name is Louis-Nicolas Davout, may he offer you good services in the wars to come.

May you have good fortune in the coming days, forever yours

Therese Auclair

Ok, so for anyone who's voting for my plan, know that I have decided to hold trial at camp instead of "swear an oath of non-fighting France or get thrown to the mercy of the National Convention" when it comes to what to do with the captured generals. If anyone disagrees with this change, then please let me know.

Considering that Egypt's always been a major agricultural center, I don't think the economy will do that bad without tourism. The losses for the study of history will be a shame, though.
