How many departements are there in France currently?

And has Napoleon created the job of 'prefet' yet?

Edit: also, what is the current status of Lasalle?

EDit2: did Lavoisier survive ITTL, given the changed political climate (executed in May 1794 OTL under false accusations of corruption)?

I decided to do it based on Magoose's Therese sheet:
Name: Denis Martin Severin
Class: Berserker
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Titles: The Soldiers' Champion, The Empress' Right Hand, The Empress' Attack Dog, Marshal Baguette

Stats:
STR: B
END: A-
AGI: B-
MANA: A
LCK: A

Class Skills:
Magic Resistance EX: As he comes from a world never touched by gods or magic, he is a void to all but the strongest of magics, such as Divine or True Magic. This includes contracts, area attacks, and Weak Noble Phantasms

Mad Enhancement D: In life he thrived in the blood and chaos of the battlefield, but was renowned for his organization and command, especially his unmatched skill with infantry. He receives a minor boost in power, though he retains most of his sanity and is capable of conversation.

Personal Skills:
Berserk B: A composite Skill of the Valor Skill and Mad Enhancement Skill, negating mental interference such as intimidation, confusion and fascination, and increasing melee damage. Simultaneously, when using this Skill, he turns into a beast that fights with his instincts.

Instinct B: The ability to always "feel" the most suitable development for oneself during combat. By being summoned as a Berserker, he may slightly disregard his intuitions.

Battle Continuation B: One does not know when to give up even to the very end. In life, he survived being shot and stabbed countless times, even surviving an exploding cannonball.

Noble Phantasms:
The Minci Sword Anti-Unit C: A well-made, if old-fashioned broadsword. A weapon seized on the battlefield from the dying grasp of a foe at Messina. A weapon held in trust until it's rightful owner is deemed ready.

That One Marshal's Baton Anti-Unit B: A baton of a Marshal of France, it is immediately recognizable due to being fitted with a masterwork axe head. Although he is the only one capable of wielding it in battle, legend has it the baton was briefly stolen and used against him by an unknown assailant.

Garde Mayence - Anti-Army B-: Severin commanded various formations across multiple fronts, but his first true battle and taste of command was at Mainz. Across the length and breadth of Italy, he commanded those same men, addressing and acknowledging them as the Guard of Mainz. Then, as a Marshal of France and commander of II Corps of the Empire, his corps was also known by that name, hearkening back to the finest soldiering tradition he had imbued upon the men of the Army of the Rhine. They heed his command even in another world.

Logic of Earth - Thaumaturgical Void: Anti-Thaumaturgy Noble Phantasm: EX As a man from a world with no magic or religion, the existence of such is an impossibility to her mind. Thus, through the Grail's power, this logic is temporarily imposed on the world around him, sometimes unconsciously. As he becomes more familiar with his other noble Phastasms and magic, this Phantasm will degrade in effectiveness until eventually becoming unusable.

Dialogue:
Summon: I am Denis Severin, of the berserker class. If the Lord has called me to serve in his heavenly host, then I am ready.

Leveling
Level Up: One must drill relentlessly to see improvement.
Ascension 1: My blade is sharper than ever. All the better to cut down those Prussian scum.
Ascension 2: Ah, my baton is here. I'll not have it taken from me again.
Ascension 3: My men... they march at my call.
Ascension 4: Vive La France! First, Forever and Always!

Battle
Start 1: Witness the soldiering tradition that has been passed down the Severin line through the generations!
Start 2: HAHAHAHA! You shall all fall before me!
Skill 1: The line will hold! It shall not waver!
Skill 2: Sound Pas de Charge!
Attack Select 1: I'll send you to meet the Lord!
Attack Select 2: No onions for you!
Attack Select 3: I shall enjoy this!
Noble Phantasm Select: Form up! Advance!
Damage: GAHH!
NP Damage: MERDE!
Defeat 1: The Heavenly Father calls upon me now...
Defeat 2: Death comes for us all.
Finish 1: VIVE LA FRANCE!
Finish 2: France first, forever, and always.

My Room
Bond LVL 1: Let's get you fit. First, some push-ups, sit-ups, squats, then a brief run. Huh? Copyright?
Bond LVL 2: Come, join me for a game Therese taught me and the others!
Bond LVL 3: Dragons, mana, Heroic Spirits, anime, Alternate history? Strange, but I could get used to it.
Bond LVL 4: You've certainly improved a great deal since we first met, both physically and at our game.
Bond LVL 5: Haha! If it were up to me, I'd welcome you to our brotherhood of marshals. I'll put in a good word for you with Therese.
Dialogue 1: C'mon, let's go!
Dialogue 2: Let's enjoy a nice route march! Know any good marching songs?
Dialogue 3: That's a lot of enemies there. Want me to kill 'em for you?
Dialogue 4 (Therese): Therese? What are you doing here? Me? I'm conquering this land in the name of the Empire, of course!
Dialogue 5 (Napoleon): Hey, Nappy! You sure got ripped! Wanna pump some iron?
Dialogue 6 (Artoria): Anglais? Die, treacherous scum!
Dialogue 7 (Nero): She looks like that Anglais, but isn't? And she's even more full of herself? Bizarre.
Dialogue 8 (Marie Antoinette): I don't care about politics, but your children are safe under my care, madame.
Dialogue 9 (Jeanne): Milady, bless this poor soldier with the grace and the might of the Lord!
Something You Like: France. Family, Julian
Something You Hate: The Enemies of France, Prussians, those with terrible taste in women.
About the Holy Grail: Magic cup? Magic cup. Looks solid enough to bash someone's head with.
Event: More weird magical things are happening? What needs killing?
Birthday: Happy birthday? Let me sing you the song of my people!

I based Berserker!Severin on Berserker Beowulf, particularly his skills and the way mad enhancement affects him.
I think we should also list Therese's Fate Bio in Apocrypha as well in case anyone wants to see it.

Seeing that Russia is starting to turn hostile to the French Empire, a policy of containment must be enacted. The Bosporus is a vital part of that policy. Helping the Ottomans is also important as they are one of the few friendly nations and a potential route to India.

The problem is, there are certain elements that see this as a win.

The Christians like the fact the infidel are kicked out of a holy city.

The Russian supporters like Russia taking up some arms and kicking ass, as they wish to push for a more... Franco Russian Allience.

And of course, there are the Monarchists who want Louis to start branching out.

Well we can make a deal with russia they get derdenels we take egypt or something like that i mean if we go to war against ottoman with russia might as well get somthing like a repulic in egypt

I really would prefer we persuade Russia to at least be neutral to us, if not friendly. We all know that Britain is itching to start the Third Coalition to put the upstart French in their place (and even after some blunders that have weakened their diplomactic prowess, they may still be able to pull it off), and we need to try and deny as many potential coalition members as possible. That said, only time will tell how things will go regarding Russia.

To Make Kings: Italian Edition
To Make Kings: Italian Edition

You had opened the door to Napoleon's office and get a great deal of annoyance as Napoleon did not look up to notice. "Pierre, I have already told you that I wish not to be disturbed."

"That's funny, he never told me that you did not want to be disturbed by me." You replied as you sat down, and a smile rose on your face, seeing the horror and later relaxation from Napoleon take hold.

He seemed annoyed that you were here. "Is there anything I can help you with?" He asked he went back to writing papers.

"Yes. I hope to see the list of the men you wish to make King." You replied.

Napoleon raised an eyebrow, before looking up and putting down his pen, chewing on his thoughts and something in his mouth, before he shook his head. "I did not think you would care about the death of the republics. They had chosen to elect a new king, and I am granting them their new candidates."

While the republics' desire for a monarch surprised you, even to this day, you did not take the bait that Napoleon was offering. He was trying to tease you, to play into your promise to him.

"May I see the list?" You asked.

That made Napoleon frown, before handing over the list to the King of Italy. as you looked towards the list of names he has chosen. "I didn't think you cared so much about this matter?"

"I do. Especially because it involves Brian." You replied as you gazed at the list.

"I would have thought you would try to make the other kingdoms have kings that would be more stomaching to a parliament?" He asked.

"I know I cannot stop you from doing that." You replied. "But what I can do is make sure the most loyal man can sit on the Italian Throne." You replied.

"You have trust in your judgment of character?" Napoleon asked.

"It hasn't failed me yet." You replied.

And you looked at the list.

Well, quite the candidates:

Which do you support?:

[]Thérèse Auclair: He want's to choose you? You are flattered but why?

[]Brian Auclair: Your Brother, your protector for most of your life, and possibly the last person that would wish to become an autocratic monarch of Italy. You know for a fact, he would have started a republic if Napoleon had deemed that from him. But you consider that if you support him, he would have a greater chance than the others for becoming King. The thing that troubles you, is this: His loyalty to the Revolution, to the ideas that it champions, along with his independent attitude, and ability to say no to Napoleon… may cause a great deal of friction between him and Napoleon. He is a masterful administrator, a brilliant soldier, and a capable General. And the fact he is a Frenchman, not Italian… well that can cause a great deal of trouble, to the more nationalistic of the Italians.

[]Napoleon: He wants to crown himself king of Italy? That is quite a stretch, considering that most of the northern Italians dislike him for forcing him to become republics, then into a monarchy under his crown. However, this makes a great deal of sense. He is Italian, he is the Emperor, and there may be a certain level of prestige that Italy can claim. That he is also everything that the Italians look for a king and more… well it is a no brainer as to why they would choose him?

[]Andre Massena: Napoleon's Man, through and through. That is the best way you can describe him. A vicious looter, and a masterful general, who, in a pinch, can be relied upon to be a brilliant army commander and administrator. He is of Italian blood, and the former nobles and the higher republicans who had gained much with Napoleon's victory were without question eager to see him crowned king. The problem is his corruption. Dare you say he could be expected to beggar his realm with vanity projects of wars of conquest with his neighbors or personal glory. But Napoleon loves him for his loyalty. And that man is loyal to his Emperor without question.

[]Joseph Bonaparte: Napoleon's brother. Possibly the only administrator that you consider Napoleon's equal in administrative and legal matters. He may have been a republican, but he is loyal to his brother. You don't know too much about him personally, but you know he is someone who takes his work very seriously. A man who can do the best for the Italian people, and for Napoleon. The best of both worlds.

[]Choose another: Write in a name here!

AN: You know something funny happened when writing the update.

I almost put Severin as a candidate for the Italian throne.

I then realized he had no business being granted a kingdom, even though he is a member of our inner circle.

Maybe a German crown, probably will make more sense.

Or we can send him to Sweeden when they have their succession crisis.

Hmmm...

I'm considering either Joseph or Brian, to be frank. Therese isn't cut out for ruling alone (not YET, anyways), Massena would be loyal, but too problematic overall and Nappy doesn't need his head getting any more bigger through more Titles.

But knowing Napoleon... He might try to do it on a another crown.

Like Spain.

He did a fantastic job in Naples OTL IIRC. I would like to see what he can do with the whole of Italy. Granted he was only King of Naples for a short while(2 years), but what he did during that time (and he got a lot done in such a short time) is very encouraging.

...I actually think Joseph isn't a bad pick, I know Brian wants it, but like I feel like if I had to put up anyone as like an intriguing pick I think this is the one I'd go for.

He did ask us to get him the job.
