Denis Martian Severin is now a Marshal of France.

His father works for us as a leader of our iron works.

lets just say that they will not be hurting for awhile even if we fire Matteo. but it may contain unforeseen consequences

BTW any chance we can invest in railroads?

Just trying to satisfy my inner trainsfan. We should already have been using horse drawn railcars to transport goods. It shouldn't be too big a leap to expand it to passenger service.

[X]No: Something about all this felt off. Especially because all this… hinged upon one man. What did Matteo do to earn this kind of ire… and why were they so insistent on being allowed to join your investments. That was a price too high… you worked far too hard on all this to be left up to another person. Not even Robespierre was worth that.

Seems like Amschel is unaware of the fact that Robespierre's reputation has pretty much crashed and burned after his latest stunt. Putting aside how trustworthy the Rothschilds may or may not be, the offer given isn't good enough, so we have no real reason to accept it. Robespierre is in a bad situation no matter what he does (either he keeps on track and fails to do anything or he starts depending more and more on his new "benefactors" to the point where it becomes easy to frame him as a foreign agent that seeks the downfall of France, which will set his reputation even lower... to the point where if he wants to rule France again, he'll have to subject the entire French population to the guillotine because he would have no real supporters), so his capture isn't as much of an emergency as it used to be.

Nah i don't want to fire them, far from it loyalty is at high demand in these times. I would like to just keep the contact.

I kinda get Rotchilds point of view here. For example he for one isn't telling us everything and Therese doesn't know enough to put the pieces together .

At first look it looks like British are in bad place but one shouldn't also ignore the fact that they just conquered India, so one could say that their ability to pay back and take on more loan is high, plus bankers always find a way.

Other thing is that war is profitable business and he still has a lot more to gain by giving loans to both Austria and Prussia who still have steam in them and indebt them.

Yes they could pay up French indemnity and go back to their feet after some time, but there's no reason not to offer them money to put them on war footing now and indebt them long term.

Basically for Amschel France winning was actually good thing, because he managed to go from the safe investment at first look to even better one as now what should have been quick victory for coalition became potentially long conflict in which Rotchilds and the banks can earn even more money by giving loans to interested countries.

What he is doing now is trying to get an in on our side and is negotiating from what is for him upper hand (basically he has most of European powers in his pocket and is offering us his pocket , but with string's attached, it could be useful to take offer now as latter it would come at greater price).

Of course from Therese's side what she needs to do is basically reverse the board and threaten his investment, basically otl continental system (French dominance of Europe) and crippling one of his indebted powers so that they aren't able to pay back making it net loss for him and then bring him on negotiation table where he will take her and France more seriously.

Just a business.

no.

Outside of the scope of the quest...

the closest we can do is invest in a steam ship in 1807.
Not even horse-drawn trams or railcars?

IIRC the first public railway opened in 1796. It mostly transported coal, but it also transported passengers. Heck, we should already be using some to transport all that iron as a method of reducing the bottom line.

It's just I can't think of a... very... plausible (Ha) method for THerese to learn about such a method and a way that could possibly allow her to think outside the box.

Plus France does not have the infrastructure or the wealth to build railroads... like that. just yet at least.

I agree, Therese is already talented enough, no need to go to far from the Marshall part of the quest .

Also, hopefully we get a contact so we can invite Amschel and Dennis, as well as respective Severin/Rotchilds Patriarchs to the dinner one day .

Maybe also invite emperor Alexander (he was actually otl reason why Nappy got light peace treaty and light punishment first time around after his loss).

But mostly to have Severins and Rotchilds in one room, it will be dinner to remember and ultimate goal of Napoleonic wars .

Well farther then being a consort is,

THat is more likely then peace in Europe... so an impossibility.

If we somehow make Alexander a friend, it will end in tragedy.

We all know how it goes down, and Napoleon may be forced to fight russia.

Maybe we can invite Oudinot and Macdonald and Lannes.

Let them snuff out the candles with pistol shots like they did OTL

What he offers is simply too little for what he asks for in return.

Yeah no. Offers little and wants someone loyal to us gone because they can't be corrupted by them. Not really being a business man if he can't compromise and holding a grudge.

Once again, he Is lacking a lot of information we know.

Same with Therese in a sense.

From his perspective he holds all the Cards, heck from Therese's perspective without OC knowledge he holds all the cards and even with it if we follow otl timeline he holds all the cards.

Basically even if we offer investment and to change some laws in France for him to switch sides from his perspective he has British in his debt and that debt is rather secure and will grow (British hatred of France and India).

He also has Austria/Prussia potentially on his disposal (i wouldn't be surprised that he is here to give some profitable loans to them) and given that the France is tired of war it looks like we are a weaker side , if we hold out, well war is profitable business.

Basically to reverse a table we would need to crush one of the great powers indebted to him for him to feel a loss in his pocket and get Continental system equivalent in Europe where we get to dictate economic policies for him to take us seriously.

Basically for him this is just a familial grudge and a good deal in exchange for it. We basically get access to his pocket and some financial security in exchange for revenge and influence.

Honestly seems like a waste of an event if this end like this with the only real reward kwning IC about the bankers' threat.

If this somehow starts another coalition my disbelief might go through the roof.

The deal is worth it, but integrity is priceless.
