"And it is not the Emperor that is the truest threat to the Revolution."

From perspective of the Children he is a threat, but he is nothing new as Robb also was a tyrant and they are beginning to see it. Napoleon while potential threat and not zealous supporter of the republic is still necessary evil in their eyes because he is the one that stands between them and hordes of reactionary armies. Plus playing nice and legal can pay of now that elected officials actually have some authority and support in the heighest levels of the court .

"If we wish to win, we must win control of the Empress. The same one you have cut off, and proclaimed as nothing more than a traitor to everything she stood for."

In his attempt to weaken Napoleon and cut of head of the snake Rob just made all Republican forces flock to their Empress , the pillar of the democracy and republic in France making Therese even more politically powerful.

He leaves much of the day-to-day governance to the Elected Legislative and the Senate. (Unknown Effect.)

I suppose that means that he will leave most of internal affairs to the Legislative branch and Senate while he focuses on true thing that brought him glory , military . And also forgein politics.

Ironically with this, by listening to his wife he truly did made himself into protector of the Revolution. He brought in much needed stability while still holding to principles of republic. Plus velvet hand makes it so that he isn't solely responsible for the France in case of bad times which lessens the need for Forgein adventurism to appease the base at home.

Very satisfying to see that my write-in achieved the desired result. The Children immediately backing off from violence and Roachpierre losing his handy source of radicals to throw at us is a pleasant surprise, but that velvet glove national spirit was the real prize of this mini-turn.

Indeed, now Nappy won't be forced to make rash moves, half of his actions were driven from his ambition, yes. But other half was there to maintain cult of personality on which he based his entire regime .

Now he can actually draw his legitimacy from the people in more peaceful way .

The thing is, Napoleon did kinda see himself as a protector of the revolution, and the Republic.

Then Robe Spat on his efforts, tried to kill him, and otherwise make things difficult.

Plus you know, killing children.

There are lines that a few people won't cross.

Napoleon is at his heart,a general and millitary leader. While he is a brillent legal mind, and skilled administrator...

Basically the perfect Emperor. Now he's basically that, with a bit of... republican.

Well the thing is, he still might have to deal with counter revolutions, and other bullshit. Thankfully he won't need to be a full on autocrat.

Despot with a lot of power? Yes?

Unlimited Power?

No, not unless Napoleon needs it, and the Senate gives him it.

It could be worse...

It couldhave been even better.

A nat 100 could have done great things.

INB4 We turn France into an industreal super power.

So... I did not expect to do this when I woke up this morning.

I just spent the last two hours fighting a fire before emergency personal showed up, filming all the while, and got at least 1 half hour of raw, fire blazing, fire fighting action while me, my father and my neighbors saved my friends house.

At the current time, everyone is safe as far as I know, my friends house is safe, and a few fields down... my other neighbors place is utterly destroyed.

Shit... I need a shower, some water and a sit down.

Oh man, sorry to hear that you had to go through that.

INB4 We turn France into an industreal super power.

To be fair from what I remember of earlier chapters of the quest we have basically total control of the Rhine and Belgium to in term of coal and steal we are pretty much set and should we try for some colonial ventures, perhaps not even us but people ITL future, I can see us being the next superpower. Considering the current morals of the French Gov they might even keep a lot of colonies, or at least more than they kept in OTL.

I hope you feel better and that this accident quickly go behind you, hope your family and friend are good.

While correct, we have not gotten all the infurstructure to exploit them... what we need is time.

So...

I do have a request:

What do you all think some of the Marshals think of their new rank.

Hmmmm...

Lannes (to Napoleon): "I am grateful for your trust in me, my Friend. I will prove that I am worthy of it!"

Kellermann (sighs): "Well, I guess I can show the Kids a few tricks yet and do what I can to help France. But I'm getting to old for this and you better let me retire soon enough!"

Ney: "Wait, I am still allowed to personally lead a charge in the front as a Marshal, right?"

Lannes (to Napoleon): "I am grateful for your trust in me, my Friend. I will prove that I am worthy of it!"
Lannes, a true bro if there ever was one. Now if only we can remind him that, yes, he needs to work with people and not be a palidan like figure.
Kellermann (sighs): "Well, I guess I can show the Kids a few tricks yet and do what I can to help France. But I'm getting to old for this and you better let me retire soon enough!"
Kellerman: I just want to retire Dammit! but you keep dragging me back in!
Ney: "Wait, I am still allowed to personally lead a charge in the front as a Marshal, right?"
Therese: Don't tell Severin that, or he'll never stop doing it.
Thrilled, until they see they are not the only Marshall :V
Massena: What is the meaning of this? There are 15 of us?

Very excited to see the diplomacy around Spain, It's a great oppurtunity to lower tensions and postpone the next war a little.
I dream of setting up a concert of europe, but I doubt the English have accepted their defeat yet.

Edit: A concert could never be as tight as otl given this one would be led by a revolutionary state, but I think we could definitely keep the peace and extract political freedoms from the monarchies in a more peaceful manner.

Well if a concert of Europe is achived... that will not be happening, unfortunatly.

Napoleon still lives, and he still has a great deal of power that Britian would never allow.

WE might have peace for a few years. That is it.

I am currently wondering about the outcome of a very bad idea. If an expeditionary force is sent out to stabilize Spain, what would happen if we insist its official name be in French?

… I think most would want that, for the propaganda effect and linguistic effect…

And now Spain is post WW2 Germany with occupation zones.

Sorry. I forgot to say the joint expeditionary force.

But that was an expected way of handling the Spanish Crisis and an effective one too as long as European powers don't end up permanently partitioning Spain intentionally or not.
It could be worse.

We could have a nation that would benifit from a disunited Spain and a land border with one of the occupying forces…

Oh and the worst thing about this entire next update.

You can only choose one plot line.

I have an idea, we give Spain (and its crown) to a royal from a kingdom that has been neutral in all of the coalition wars.

@Magoose, has anyone been neutral so far in these wars?

Somehow, I reckon no one in Europe would be very happy with us handing over Spain to the Ottomans. :V

What about Denmark-Norway or Bavaria or Sweden or the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth or one of the minor Catholic principalities?

Although I do admit, handing it over to the Ottomans would be funny.

Edit: Al-Andalus will rise again!

No one in Europe will agree to hand over Spain to a minor power.

As for our neutrals… Denmark, Sweden, Bavaria was technically a belligerent because HRE, but no troops were sent…

The Ottomans are no longer at war with us due to failure on Egyptian front..

But other then that… war!
Somehow, I reckon no one in Europe would be very happy with us handing over Spain to the Ottomans. Just a hunch. :V
I mean… you are right, but the ottomans also won't be just… sitting on the sidelines here.

Poland has been particiand… Denmark is neutral, Bavaria is kinda… hostile to France due to HRE.

And other Catholic powers are kinda to weak to do anything.

What about each Kingdom in Spain forming a Spanish Confederation ruled by a Spanish Regency Council filled with appointed delegates and holding a referendum in each country on whether or not they prefer a monarchy or a republican government.
