Is the Egypt mission even still on at this point?
Such a political upheaval usually reshuffles the whole strategic priorities, and if Robespierre is pulled from our expedition becuase of this we cannot say that the news didn't reach us in time.
Maybe the first step of it, the Sicily invasion and all its mediterranean control goals would still be going on, but the whole plan to conquer Egypt in order to conquer India (in order to get rid of Generale Auclair) would look dead in the water to me.

We cannot waste the oportunity, we have an inside help that is preparing to march south to help us.

I think we are going to pull a classic napoleonic France move. We'll start our expedition, smash Sardinia and Sicily, and open up a path between the routes of the Royal Navy.

At that point the exact reasons of the Egyptian invasion are gone, but the geopolitical situation hasn't changed, the resources are all here, the information has been gathered, and we've been *so* successful so far!

So why not invade? Just go for it! the Egyptian people cry out for liberty and freedom from the oppressive and medieval rule of the regime from Constantinople! Spread the ideals of the revolution as far as they will go!

And if the British lose an area they were invested in? Well, that's just icing on the cake. What could possibly go wrong?!

This sort of logic was rife in France at the time, so I wouldn't be shocked if something along these lines occurs.

To be fair here, this is a quest about being a French Marshall, not a French politician or industrialist. The military will always come first and foremost, until 1821 probably.

And I am perfectly okay with that.

That depends on what the three Consuls decide. I think at least Sicily is definitely still on the Table. Egypt...might be another matter.

Brian is now the First Consul of France, with Napoleon as his Second. The third Consul is…

Maximilien Robespierre

If they don't start a comedy triple act I will be disappointed. Auclair, Bonaparte and Robespierre could be the Marx brothers of France!

The Spanish Caribbean has fallen to the Small, but dedicated Haitian volunteers

The British sugar interests are going to go utterly ape here. A slave revolt is knocking over Spanish islands, disenfranchising white "property owners" next door to the British occupied plantation islands? And the Royal Navy hasn't descended on them like the wrath of God?

Pitt will not be remembered well in English history.

(And looking at what is going on in the British Caribbean, it looks like the Second Maroon War would happen soon in our history. With the Haitians wrecking faces in the area, we might see a much worse 2nd Maroon War in Jamaica. I'll bet the British blame the French for it if it does.)

@Magoose: Also, I'm sorry I haven't been able to come up with a write in for the vote. Brain fog has been bad of late and the words just aren't coming to me.

To be entirely fair, the British have plenty of other Problems at the Moment. They rolled THREE rolls lower then 5 in the last Rumor Mills, two of them Nat1's. I can buy that they have too much on their plate at home to worry about the Caribbean right now. Though things may not stay that way, of course.

Well yes. My point was that the failure to respond is going to increase British political turbulence. The big plantation families have a great deal of power in the British parliament since they use their wealth to buy rotten burroughs, that the Pitt government has given ships to France while letting the Caribbean get out of control is going to be a scandal.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch. Brittish republic when?

I'm betting that as soon as Brian is Consul, he will send a fast ship after us with orders to come back home.
THat is a possibility, but right now, you are not going to get a message until... after Sicily has been attacked and after he makes sure France won't implode because... dear lord, we have plans for the Life of Brian.
We'll start our expedition, smash Sardinia and Sicily, and open up a path between the routes of the Royal Navy.
Sardinia is a diplomatic expedition, Sicily is a military campaign.
That depends on what the three Consuls decide. I think at least Sicily is definitely still on the Table. Egypt...might be another matter.
Well it depends on how successful we are when we get to sicily.

... I mean they already are. Max is even the one everyone hates!

TBF, after the shit show that was the war of the first coalition... Pitt was sacked, and they are trying to find a new man to take over and fix the problem.

There is also a... Considerable British fleet on the way to start bringing the Wrath of God on whoever gets in their way.
Pitt will not be remembered well in English history.
Pitt is going down as the man who could not stop France for situations that were entirely out of his control.

After all, who would expect some surveyors to cause so much trouble?

Oh yeah... and despite the Haitians doing so well, they are not equipped to handle a functioning naval force, or a highly drilled regular army.

Cause spain, did not have that.

Well...

We'll see who the prime minister is...

I don't know how to pick for a nat Crit, but everyone else is pretty much found out already.

Fasquardon has a point about Haiti and Britain. They've done amazingly well so far, but they lack the institutional and structural advantages that Britain has. They have the most advanced economy on earth and are doing very well in their trade interests. The collapse of the Spanish will actually be a major boon for them, as the markets of Spanish America suddenly open up for business where the British can outcompete the native production

Both Haiti and the US are overextended, so I don't think they could step into that role, so it would only take 1 good roll from Britain paired with one crit fail from Haiti for the entire house of cards to fall apart.

The war has just begun! I wouldn't be surprised if things go to shit before the expedition even reaches Egypt.

Can we reach to open new diplomatic ties with the US? And the revolutionaries in South America? We could use the trade routes to stabilize the conomy.

The Problem with not having a rumor mill is that all those rolls will occur off-screen, and some people will hate that.

But since you are going too far away from the action of Mainland European politics... and even world politics.

You won't get anything in the way of news except if you sacrifice actions for it.

Speaking of suspense and other such maddened... stuff.

there will be a time skip of about a month to sail to Sicily.

Do not Fret however... you'll be free of Tallyrand and free to do whatever you see fit for your Sicilian campaign.

Up to and including conducting your own diplomacy.

and all thefusterclucking that can cause.

and instead of Rumor mills, you will get Staff reports, messages from your corps commanders about-the men, about their current situations, casualty count from disease (if there is disease), morale, and they offer their advice and assessment on the campaign so far.

and if you decide to split them up, if they fight in any battles... and win.

Edit: can someone roll a d100 for wether Louis, charoltte, and Therese get seasick.

oned100 for each.

All the more proof the kids are becoming specialized: Generale Capet is learning every aspect of military life, Charlotte is a writer best suited for a small but comfy estate, and Therese is French Wonder Woman.

Rolling... wish me luck and here goes nothing...
Well the kid is nothing but strong stomached.
...Welp, I will try.

EDIT:
WHY!?
Poor Princess going off and leaping onto land because the Sea sucks...

somehow that makes more sense then I thought it would.
Ah, nevermind, found out.

EDIT: Well, that's something, at least.
Therese being an impeccable woman who takes the struggle and just tells it to fuck off, she's got wars to win...

oh this is going to be so fun to write.
So from the looks of it, Charlotte is seasick out of her mind, Louis should kinda sorta hold up and Therése weathers it like a born Sailor.
Yeah... cept that Charlotte is going to be on the boat to shore because she can't stand the sea...

know what fuck it, I'm making her afraid of the water! And Therese will gain a trait for that mark my words!

If by some Miricle or Charlotte sues the crap out of her uncle for stealing all her royalty money, she'd have enough to burly a cozy estate.
If in this Timeline the Asterix and Obelix Comics won't feature a Character based on Therese, I will be very disappointed in AU!Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo.
You know just for you, I'll say yes, no matter what happens.
