[X]De Lisle and ROAD TRIP
We might be able to, but that would certainly require the full and willing cooperation of the crews of the ships we're sailing on, and we don't know yet how enthused they are about this campaign.Could we not just say "fuck it" and like just sail off and 'accidentally' run aground in like Sicily or something and decide to just like pincer the rest of Italy between us and Napoleon and use him as a political shield?
It was actually a conscious choice by us to make the first officers you work with respect you for your competence and gain trust from you in battle. To differentiate the men from the future officers who you will be working with.I have my worries that this quest would seem kinda chauvinistic if every other country is sexist as hell towards Therese but France is magically okay with her doing anything. I mean, sexism is basically never addressed in this quest and to have it come full force with countries that aren't France would seem like a double standard.
Plus they are using us as propaganda. In a nation who has a national hero who is also a woman, it helps the morale. My read is that republican France is fighting for its life, and while this doesn't make it less sexist it does make it less willing to shit all over its military heroes. You don't openly insult someone you might need later.
Need I remind you that Kellerman and Doumoriz went to bat for you and basically lied to the trial by saying you were following orders. Not really the case most times. If the person is acting disrespectful to authority, the authorities during Revolutionary France's time didn't really mind tossing them in a prison cell or having them sent to the guillotine. Hoche got sent to a prison cell despite playing a large hand in clearing Alsace of Austrians. If they didn't like you, they was always willing to find someone else, France wasn't exactly short of competent people
We plan to.Still, this is something the QMs need to be very careful about
I mean you can, but it might lead to some... very questionable and uncontrollable outcomes.Could we not just say "fuck it" and like just sail off and 'accidentally' run aground in like Sicily or something and decide to just like pincer the rest of Italy between us and Napoleon and use him as a political shield?
Among other things: gathering supplies, planning strategy with your naval attaché, plan to disobey orders if you wish, train soldiers..promote men of competence to higher command, that sort of thing. Also question for the GM because it's going to take at least somewhere between 2 to 4 turns to get to Egypt do we start voting now on what we do to prepare for it besides picking a XO and where the kids are going to be or we get at next turn?
Again you can disobey orders but the consequences will outside of your control. On the upside, with Napoleon still in Italy and not in Egypt, he might just steamroll to Naples anyways and secure a slightly better supply line than Toulon - Malta - Alexandria rather than Naples flipflopping for two years
You do have a motivated core to work with (The army of the Rhine that we're bringing with). If we've got a demoralized force, some victories in Sicily could absolutely lift some spirits. I'd very much be down for a diversion.
That is a possibility. It's kind of like an island hopping campaign. And we can tell command as much.
Again, you can always do something else. The supply lines need to be shorter and more secure. And if we can take Malta, all the better. If we do this, we need our asses covered.
Actually, it depends on a variety of factors. Political and military allies that you make over your campaigns (which will happen more naturally), what your brother is doing with Nappy B, who you beat in battle... how competent you are in several skills...
It's a Plan.I say we blitz through Naples , malta and maybe join up with American marines and fight the pirates in order to secure Tunisia and Tripolia before going for Egyp
It could just be some American mercenaries taking matters into their own hands?Uh, didn't the 1st Barbary War happen in 1801? The Americans aren't involved yet, much less with their current domestic troubles.
Isn't that this entire quest in a nutshell?
