You Believe that as a man your age, you should retire, and put your efforts into protecting France and Her People.
Administration: 18
You are old and relegated to more training, administrative, and nurturing the new generation of Staff officers… at least before your imprisonment.

Traits

The Old Man of the Army: After Valmy Hill, you were relegated to more… administrative Roles within the army's command structure, and when the war of the Coalition ended, you were sent to be an administrator. Your Age, Experience, and wisdom were seen as a thing that many in the army needed, and while you did not like being relegated to Staff work, you found it as a way to train the next generation in Staff Work, and make them gain a better understanding and appreciation of what really goes into making an Army Function.
-You are not seen as necessary for a field command in the French Army currently and are given a great deal of leeway in your training of the new Staff of Officers under your command.
-Many young officers write and subordinate themselves to you, to learn from you, and your wisdom.
-+20 to all rolls training younger officers and subordinates, in all facets of Military subjects.
- +5 to all battle rolls in addition to any bonuses from stats.

Favored: Your Actions in Paris to Protect the Emperor's sister and his niece have not gone unnoticed by the Emperor, and the people of the Empire.
-Gain Influence with Napoleon.
-Can make requests both in military and political nature
-Unknown Effect

Half Hand: Your efforts to protect Elissa and her daughter were not without a price. Your left hand lost two fingers, and you suffered other minor ailments from imprisonment that you will need time to recover from.
-You are permanently maimed on your left hand.
- -5 to combat rolls.

Old Ways: You were a soldier of the Old School of the French Army, and are a bit behind when it comes to some of the more aggressive, and forward-thinking tactics and strategies that have been developed, fostered, and nurtured by this new Army. You are not behind in a traditional sense, but your thinking is… a liability in some situations.
-You are slower to pick up on the young generations' thinking.
-You are… not the best field commander, even with your experiences.
-10 to battle rolls unless you get a crash course in the new Ways.

The Grandfather figure: Kellerman views the Empress as an adoptive granddaughter, though that was when she was under his command in the Army of the North. And while his family is somewhat confused by that, they accept the fact and hope to welcome you with open arms.
-Kellerman views your family as part of his family.
-Unknown Effect.

General Uniform:
A deep blue tailed officer's coat, white blouse, dark-gold jacquard waistcoat, and faint blood-red silken cummerbund, with a pair of long white pantaloons and good quality rider boots. A gift from revolutionary figure Robespierre.
+2 to Decorum

Excommunicated: The Holy Father has stripped you of the Temporal Protections of the Catholic Church, damming your souls to eternal Damnation. There will be a roll every turn to discover who might desert the army. The lower the better.)

Renewed Purpose – Time was not on your side, and neither was luck. The dangers of warfare threaten to claim your life, yet you persevere. You are alive for multiple reasons. Therefore, you cannot allow yourself to fall, as long as you draw breath.
+So long as a close bond is alive, you receive a +50 to surviving injury rolls, and only critically fail injury rolls on a roll of 1.
+Close bonds (List can expand): Brian, Louis, Charlotte, Napoleon.

The Stormrunner!: They claimed it was impossible. But you have a knack for doing the impossible. From Storms to Hurricanes, to the most brutal of weather the world throws at you, you can do battle with little trouble fighting in conditions that should otherwise be impossible for any sane commander. (Suffer no maluses when fighting or commanding in inclement weather like rain, snow, blizzards, sandstorms, etc.)

The Amphibious Frogs: The actions taken at your victory at Palermo and its immediate aftermath have unofficially made you one of the foremost experts on amphibious invasions in all of Europe. The Kings and Emperors of Europe now fear their coastlines having a French Fleet beyond them, with you leading the Vanguard for an invasion that they can only barely predict. (When Amphibiously invading, you will gain a +10 to all rolls when the invasion is known, and an additional +30 if the invasion is unknown by the Enemy defenders.)

Shot (In the Chest): The Bullet went through your chest, and the great surgeons of France worked tirelessly to prevent the Wound from being infected or killing you. They succeeded, but you are not in the best physical shape.
- -30 to all combat rolls, and -10 to all military rolls.
-The Scar above your breast is an unsightly sight for any who see it.
-The wound will heal by December 12th, if you do not aggravate it.

Empress of France: You are the Empress of France, perhaps only as a consort, but your words carry the same authority as your husband's in certain circles.
+10 to all personal rolls while in France and Her Allies
Unknown Effect when out in the Rest of Europe
-You may ask a subject of your anything, and they will try to please you.

Pregnant: You are With Child, though how many children you do not know. But conventional wisdom and society asks that you take it easy, try not to get yourself into stressful situations, and for the Love of GOD, Do not get Shot!.
- -20 to all combat rolls
- You are a Woman carrying a Child, what sort of madness makes you wish to lead men into battle!?
-+5 to certain personal rolls.
- The Propaganda people love you… for some strange reason.

Omake Writing Prompt Lists (TO Be Added to)
Omake Writing Prompt Lists (TO Be Added to)

The Newspapers of Therese Auclair: There are many opinions from the many newsmen and women of the Parisian News Scene. It was… very mixed, ranging from hero worship… to outright revival.

The Letters From Home: Brian has always kept every letter that his sister and family have sent him, even the ones that are embarrassing, personal...and above all else… Things he wished he forgot.

The Burial of Astor Auclair: It took Brian seven Hours to dig his father's grave. It took him only twenty minutes after that to realize that if he did not work soon, he and his sister would die.

Volunteers: Brian was not entirely sure about the volunteer battalion coming through and being raised for the Army. But he was not going to waste a chance to prove himself… and to keep his sister safe.

The Life and Times of Brian Auclair: All he wanted was a quiet semi-retirement with his family. Now he was chief of staff to his brother-in-law. And now he wishes he had shot him.

The Marshals Of France: They may not be the Marshals yet but their stories are still being written.

The Bravest of the Brave: He lacks training, he lacks competence in high command. He is brilliant on the tactical level. He is brilliant for being indefatigable… He is Brave, and that is all the Army needs to survive.

The Fox of the Rhine: There are men who would be destroyed by this command, who would work with just surviving. He wished that the men would have faith. The Prussians were right where he wanted them.

The Falcon of France: Louis Capet is called a lot of things in his life. Prince, Orphan, Basterd, Son. But never Falcon. It was a name Napoleon had given him in a dispatch commending him. One he didn't know how to feel.

The Holy Prayer: Father Astor felt cold. He felt wrong and violated… because good men and women were being denied the right to Heaven.

The Ministers: Paul Barres and Tallyrand hated each other on principle. But they needed to work together if France were to survive.

The Eagle: Napoleon dreamed of himself as Philip, and the growing child in his wife's belly Alexander. He would hold out his hand… and the World would be theirs.

FOr these Prompts, YOu get 15 to 20 points for rewards.

Sorces of the French Revolution (SzechuanSauce)
Well, if anyone wants to learn about the historic French Revolution, here are some books that I think you guys would find useful.

General Overview
- Liberty or Death by Peter McPhee: I've mentioned this guy before, and it is not to be exaggerated that he is one of the best scholars on the French Revolution today. This book, while not exactly always giving great detail, is a great summary of the events of the French Revolution, from its origins, all the way to the Consulate and what exactly the revolution meant to contemporary and future people. Also, the book has a whole lot of great source material that you guys should look at to get a more focused look on specific parts of the revolution.
- A New World Begins by Jeremy Popkin: Again another really great historian of the French Revolution, his is also an overview of the revolution from its origins around the mid-18th century to around the time Napoleon took power. What is special about his account is that it takes a more internationalist approach, making many mentions of the colonial affairs in Saint-Dominique, and a more personal one in a sense, because it makes constant mentions of minor figures of the revolution like Ménétra, a glass-maker in the Ancien Regime who quickly found many responsibilities in the new one, enthusiastic revolutionary Goujon and his also enthusiastic, but more cautious buddy Tissot, the former who would die young as a martyr in 1795, and the latter living far longer, preserving his friend's memory.

Specific Parts of the Revolution
- Becoming a Revolutionary by Timothy Tackett: This book is an overview of the beginning of the French Revolution, that being the convocation of the Estates-General, all the way to a little bit before the flight of the king to Varennes. It covers wide range of topics such as the opinions of the deputies, what their social and economic backgrounds were, the parliamentary tactics practiced during these times and the origins of famous clubs like the Jacobins or the Society of 1789.
- The Fall of the French Monarchy by Munro Price: A book focusing on the French royal family and a rather obscure but nonetheless important figure, the Baron de Breteuil. This book traces the struggle of the French monarchy to stay alive or at least powerful through the French Revolutionary days, with attention being paid to the various methods taken to do so and also attention is paid to the opinions of the royal family and the baron.
- When the King took Flight by Timothy Tackett: This time being a very specific subject, this book is, as the title shows, about when the king attempted to flee the country. Examining his motives, which, despite what some might say, were completely against any compromise with the revolution, repudiating everything he says he was forced to do etc. It also pays attention to the reaction of the deputies and the people, who were, at least the majority, angered by what the king had done, especially the Parisians who burned every royal symbol they could find and no longer showing the deference they once had for the monarch. It also shows the slow growth of republicanism, arising from anger at the king's flight.
- Twelve who Ruled by R.R. Palmer: Most probably the best book focusing on the critical years of the Committee of Public Safety, this book focuses on the titular twelve who ruled, or at least, ruled by the consent of the National Convention since they had to get their membership renewed every month by said convention. It focuses on their activities, but a lot on what the terror looked like, what its impacts were, and rather controversially for some folks, about how absolutely critical it was in the reorganization of the country, centralizing the administrative apparatus, forging a better army, vanquishing its foes, and doing something about the darn economy.
- Jacobin Legacy: The Democratic Movement under the Directory by Isser Woloch: Now this focuses on a relatively obscure part of the Directory. Despite common opinion, the Jacobins did not simply disappear after Thermidor, they were scattered and no longer had state support, sure, but they were still there, the clubs transformed into Constitutional Circles, and the Jacobins, or perhaps democrats is more appropriate, were not a bunch of frothing at the mouth revolutionaries, they were respectable people of varied social backgrounds who, while finding the new Constitution to be not so good, were determined to work with it and possibly transform it into something more democratic. Also, something neat is that it brings to light obscure figures like Rene Vatar, one of the leading Jacobins at the time, a printer for the Committee of Public Safety and writer of what people then considered to be the Jacobin newspaper, the Journal des Hommes libres.

People in the French Revolution
- Robespierre: A Revolutionary Life by Peter McPhee- Again written by McPhee, this is a work that traces one of the revolution's most foremost figures from his childhood days all the way to his death, examining the origins of his beliefs, what his beliefs actually were, his actions during the revolution, his personality, relationships and much more.
- Abbe Gregoire and the French Revolution by Alyssa Goldstein Sepinwall: This one focuses on one of the most peculiar members of the French Revolution, and also one of the most celebrated, the revolutionary priest turned constitutional bishop, the man himself, Abbé Henri Grégoire. It focuses on him fully, exploring his beliefs, many of them seemingly contradictory such as being a dedicated revolutionary and a dedicated Catholic which some saw as being mutually exclusive, his belief in women's education despite having incredibly sexist views even by the standards of the time, his belief in freedom for the Haitians despite him having a large influence of future colonial thoughts, his belief in Jewish emancipation and all the complexities that come with him.

I'll add in some more later, and you guys could put in your own recommendations or books about a specific topic you'd like to know about.

Alrighty...

So I've got some bad news.

Again. (Fuck I hate this)

The Concert of Europe (Minor Powers or out of the Way Great Powers):

Status: Great Power (Declining)

Leader: Seliem the III

Heir Apparent: Mustafa.

Government: Absolute Sultanate/ Caliphate

Relation with France: 8/10: The French are not an enemy to the Ottoman Sultanate, or to the Followers of the Prophet. They are not treacherous and honor them with their honesty and their shared interests.

Army: 7/10: The Army's reforms have brought it into the modern world, and while many are not… perfect, and there are traitors among the world… The nation is prepared for a modern war.

Navy: 7/10 The Ottoman Navy is not the finest instrument in the world, but a powerful instrument nonetheless.

Manpower: 9/10 Bringing the Arabs, the Turks, the Egyptians… all the peoples of the Empire together is something a powerful Caliph can do.

Sailors: 7/10 The Sailors are well drilled, well trained, and well disciplined.

Wealth: 9/10: The Nation of The Great Ottoman Empire, is extremely wealthy, as many of it's rich heartlands are untouched by war.

National Spirits:

The Embassy of France: The French Embassy Here is pursuing the Interests of Emperor Napoleon... They are quite convincing, with a Marshal as a diplomat. Sérurier is a fine soldier... and his manner has impressed the Sultan.

A Decadent Court: The Court of the Sultan, despite its very elegant and proper appearance, has a problem of corruption, and there are traitors amongst that court that seek power and influence.

A Greek Problem: The Greeks have been a rebellious thorn in the Empire's Side for centuries, and they have never given up their attempts to gain freedom.

The Egyptian Prelude: Egypt is still highly controlled by the Mamluks. And they are not the most loyal. Perhaps it is time to send a governor to make it… more loyal.

The Sick Man of Europe: The empire is in decline. The many problems plaguing the Empire are causing it to decline, and rapidly. There is a chance to save it… but time is running out. There may not be time to deal with the sickness until the Empire's collapse is inevitable.
Status: Regional Power

Leader: Charles I Theodore

Heir Apparent: Maximilian Joseph

Government: Absolute Electorate of the HRE

Relation with France: 4/10: The French Empire, with the Revolution under control, may be what we need to secure our interests, perhaps even secure the royal crown that you so seek

Army: 5/10: Benjamin Thomas, a Former American British loyalist who had fled in exile after the Revolution, had been reforming many of the Army's more… outdated needs. It has been a good thing as well. Your units, while not Prussian, are some of the finest in the empire.

Navy: 0/10 You have no navy to speak of.

Manpower: 5/10 Your state, despite fighting in your Emperor's Wars, has not suffered greatly in the measure of casualties and loss. You are virtually untouched.

Sailors: 0/10 These men cannot be called sailors. They are farmers and soldiers.

Wealth: 5/10: You are not a rich country by any means, but you are one that is known to have strong people and good rulers. You do not want.

National Spirits:

For Want a Crown: For Decades, the Elector of Bavaria has desired a Crown like that of Prussia. You will do anything to do so, except… accept the status quo.

The Sign of the Cross: Your People are very much Catholic, and the Pope's Words hold more weight than most nations, especially France after the Revolution.

Elector: You are an Elector of the Holy Roman Empire… If there is an Emperor election, you will hold a very decisive election and vote, where your Prince will carry weight.

Unpopular Ruler: Prince Charles is not well-liked by his people, and some would rather see his brother on the throne.
Status: Rebellion

Leader: The Dublin Council of the Republic of Ireland

Heir Apparent: None

Government: Irish Republican.

Relation with France: 7/10: This man is your Friend. He fights for Freedom!

Army: 5/10: The Irish Republican Army is made up of Deserters… Traitors and men who have never fought before.

Navy: 2/10 John Paul Jones and those Americans taught you how to fight the British… and you have not begun to fight.

Manpower: 7/10 The Irish will fight for their freedom, and never for a British Tyrant.

Sailors: 5/10 You have a habit of taking things from the British Navy. Like sailor traditions… and much more.

Wealth: 2/10: A Poor impoverished nation that Tyrants from across a sea has been reshaping the nation to their own end? America would laugh at the Irony.

National Spirits:

Rebellion: You fight in a civil war for your Freedom. For GOD AND IRELAND!

Oh Emerald, you are a Beauty: The Irish People are among those who would rather fight and die then to fall under a tyranny again. They know what awaits them… better to be die fighting, than live as slaves.

A War Without Uniforms: This will be a war where civilians are going to be fighting as irregulars. It will test the resolve of the British Empire. And it will break them.

The Flying Pigs: French Mercenaries in Ireland have arrived… and they are doing everything they can to fight the British.

(If the war is lost, there will be severe consequences in Ireland. Possibly a very… harsh repression and possibly even a forced relocation)
Status: Regional Power

Leader: Gustav IV Adolf

Heir Apparent: Gustav

Government: Absolute Monarchy

Relation with France: 3/10: The French are not the Swede's enemy, not when they can be a help to reclaim the lost Glory of the Past.

Army: 6/10: The Army of Sweden is a Shadow of its former Glory. The days of Charles the XII are long gone. Her officers are not the well-oiled Machine who led through faith and fire.

Navy: 5/10 The Swedish Navy is a strong instrument in the Baltic but is not the force it once was before Russia rose to prominence.

Manpower: 6/10 Sweden has never had a great population, like Russia or France.

Sailors: 7/10 These men are some of the finest Sailors in the World, the world never forgets the Vikings. But while you are not the British… you are not the French.

Wealth: 6/10: The Nation of Sweden is a very wealthy nation, one that has many… mineral and trading wealth that it has to exploit due to its unique position in the Baltic and the North Sea.

National Spirits:

The Ghost of The King: Charles the XII has been dead for over a century, but his shadow casts long over the Swedish Army. There has not been a hero to lead them for a long time.

The Finnish Frontier: The Finnish problem… the Russians wish to expand to the West… and see that as a juicy Target that Russia wishes to conquer.

The Wealth of Nations: Sweden is among the vital arteries of the Baltic sea, and the great positioning and natural wealth have made it very wealthy.

The Discontent Officers: The Officers of the Army demand victory. If they do not have one, they will find a King that will give them victory.
