On the "Less readers over time" thing.... That's not a problem with the quest itself. It's something that will happen to ANY Quest or Story that has gone a long time without a update. No matter how Popular it actually is.

What? ...Oh. That's not what I was talking about. The average number of ratings for each Reader Mode page of Ignition show a slow downward trend, and although that isn't a perfect method of gauging readership, it's the best one I have. Well, that and occasionally checking "Ratings Received" and noticing the spots where new readers stopped like-bombing.

The approximate quest peak can be found with the Agneyastra Interlude back around page 600 while the highest on the last five pages of Reader Mode has about half that number of ratings. The average is a little worse off. Across the quest itself, abrupt drops (without recovering afterward) can be noted around some of the more infamous incidents. Overall, I'd estimate an approximately 60% drop rate just among those who make it past the first few updates; I expect the overall "Eh, not reading" rate is rather worse than that.

Man, I am glad to see this returning again. I've missed this a lot.

Overseer Interlude: Sidereal
QM's Note: Oh hey, I forgot I had this thing laying around. This has already happened and is in Agneyastra's archives should Jade care to ask for it.

Stickied: Regarding Recent Government Leaks
Greetings and salutations, people of Remnant. Over the last few days, we've had multiple leaks of classified information on the subject of new medical technologies and the mass implementation thereof. There have been questions about the specifics of said projects, whether it will shift the balance of political power, if the base scientific knowledge will be released to the public sector, and so on and so forth. Most of all, people have been asking who is responsible for a proposal so major it was sent to the highest levels of all four kingdoms within a short period of time. I can answer that last question right now:

Aliens.

I am entirely serious. The closest translation for my name is "Sidereal" and I am the individual assigned to Princess Jade Agni's ongoing humanitarian projects on Remnant. While visiting your world, Princess Jade saw how monstrously outmatched you were, pun intended. Although reclaiming Remnant from Grimm is a long-term project, Princess Jade saw no reason she should not endeavor to make your existences less painful in the interim.

This thread was created to address the first project of many and the one which was so recently leaked: Artificial Vessel Distribution. As their name indicates, Artificial Vessels are empty versions of a given individual's body. Should the original prove to be inadequate, whether it be because of a chronic disease or fatal injury, artificial vessels are a valid alternative to a failing body. We simply construct a newer, healthy version of your body, switch your soul, and move on. There is no risk of death, mutilation, deformation, etc.

While the construction of relevant factories is ongoing and expected to take the next decade, a few proof-of-concept modules will be available in select hospitals across Remnant. Considering Remnant's population, I am sorry to say that the vast majority will not be able to switch vessels until approximately one decade from now.

Allow me to preempt one of the most likely concerns: we are physically incapable of implanting mind-control mechanisms or anything similar, nor can we let you look like someone else. Should a given body be too different from the original, your souls would promptly reject them with rather obvious results. I don't even have any means of "mind control," nor do I believe they exist in the first place.

Although we are currently constructing our own infrastructure, donations of Dust and raw materials would both be appreciated. Dust is unique to your world and there is a possibility the project timeline could be accelerated should it prove sufficiently useful. Please contact your local government branch should you be interested in doing so.

Anyone intruding on our manufacturing facilities will almost certainly be killed in rather short order. Considering the Predator and Seeker Droids (otherwise known as "Killer Cat Robots") patrolling their perimeter and the rather high walls, you have no excuse for doing so. To put it bluntly, even a small delay imposed by a saboteur could result in hundreds of lost lives. That's simply unacceptable and the nature of Semblances would make any such sabotage difficult to detect until it was too late.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. Questions related to current activities or technologies will likely receive a refusal, but that is technically an answer.

Remnant (Worldwide) Moderator & Staff Notice: As far as anyone (including at least Mantle's government) can tell, Sidereal is who and what he says he is; at the very least, he has plenty of killer cat robots far more advanced than anything Remnant has seen before. Please refrain from deliberately agitating our alien visitors.

Having completed the first steps of necessary public relations, Sidereal directed his primary consciousness away from the thread, devoting a trio of dedicated sub-processes to moderate it in his absence. Government censorship was not new to the people of Remnant; few would blink when they realized the limits of his patience. For now, he had more important events to worry about.

Remnant history indicated that any major public works project would face significant resistance in its final stages, whether it be from massive Grimm or opposing kingdoms. Counterattacks would be inevitable with the sheer amount of space Sidereal needed to clear of Grimm. Assistance from local Hunters would be necessary to drive away larger Constructs, a necessity Sidereal was not looking forward to. Requesting assistance implied weakness, weakness which would encourage attempted industrial espionage and generally make his duties more difficult. Creating utopia wasn't easy. Disposing of the bodies of hostile intruders without the public realizing was even harder. Lingering Aura made cremation unacceptably difficult.

Unfortunately, [Elder/Agneyastra] and [Primary/Jade Agni] were unable to provide him with air superiority and/or cloaked droid models, nor did he possess the designs necessary to replicate any advanced ocular stealth system. Outside patrols would need to be kept to a minimum outside of emergencies. He couldn't simply imitate local technologies; any negative opinions would unacceptably damage [Primary/Jade Agni] and "stealing" military designs would generate paranoia in droves. Despite this, Sidereal found himself quite tempted. The motives of whoever Enchanted Remnant remained unknown; if he successfully claimed enough space in a short enough period of time, would the Enchantment counterattack? And if so, how? Would it freeze time in dangerous areas as he suspected it had done for Remnant's moon? Would it unfreeze Remnant's moon, likely sending destructive fragments raining across Remnant, vastly changing tidal patterns, and generally causing catastrophic ecological damage? Could it direct such a bombardment to eliminate problem areas? It's what he would do.

Sidereal desperately hoped his assigned tasks weren't outright impossible. Between unknown Enchantment contingencies and the potential for biological minds to act against their own interests, Remnant could easily go from an easy uplift project to a deathworld making a genuine attempt to kill all intelligent life it could reach. Admittedly, what he knew of Agneyastra's home plane also tended in that direction. Ancient civilizations really needed to do a better job of cleaning up after their own destruction. The current state of affairs was simply irresponsible.

Been watching this quest for a while and have found this game to be quite a good read.
Suggestion for accelerating land links; create minor link then give of your own energy to strengthen the link into a full bind rather then trying to force it. If donated mana's colour is same as land in same ratio the efficiency of the expenditure sound increas and duration needed decreased

You sweet summer child.
He is obviously not telling the truth.

I am sure that Jade and friends would love to help with that bit if Sidereal can give us a time table.

Aaaaaaand I'm even more behind on this.

I haven't even finished Wildbow's Pact yet, much less Twig or Ward. How am I ever going to start participating in this?

I think I know the biggest problem of the quest as it currently stands. We don't do stuff. Sure, we are learning a ton of stuff but we have yet to do thing one with any of the stuff we are learning. Hell, the one time we did something without a direct learning opportunity stated up front we wound up mind controlled by a forgotten knowledge God. So there was that pile of "fun", then we hit Valdemar and decided to become an apprentice to a mage.

I know that Sidereal is mounting a civilization-scale uplift, but complaining about tech access is silly. The fact is that Jade will show up one day and dispense a bunch of magi-tech that makes all the progress it's made technologically (but not industrially) obsolete. It won't even take half a year.

You know this is how we roll, so yeah.

I now want to know what happened to the forgotten knowledge god.

AAAAAAAARGH!

Reading only the updates instead of trying to tackle the discussion as well, at least until you catch up? :p

We escaped. A powerful magician of that plane/planet, who was a friend of ours, managed to kill that particular minor goddess by blatantly abusing some curses that had been placed on herself (among other things). She seems to have ascended to... some kind of divinity?

The other one.

The knowledge god was the one who originally cursed Siofra. She still has an enchantment on her from that other god, one that had a DO NOT TOUCH label just for us.

I lol'd.

Despite having seen the first section of this before, I don't think I have any major comments. There's useful and interesting data points here, but nothing I feel like analyzing at the moment. I'm going to have to kick my brain a few times to get it to properly shift gears to "Ignition". Not an easy task, kicking one's own head, let me tell you.

BURN THE NECROMANC—oh, wait, that's me.
Please go ahead, as setting ourselves in flames is a strategy that has yet to fail :V

But seriously, I was happy seeing Ignition as the top voted option of your quest poll.

However, about the last updates? As I recall was Jade precog-dreaming her first meeting with Indira so I just skipped them, I didn't want to like her.
