Lo and behold did Ignition arise from the threads long buried. It's questers attentive and ready to vote, and SV did tremble.

Oh, come on. It was never buried, it was just—

...Okay, maybe a little brown dusting over the top, but it really isn't as bad as it looks! ( :V )

I have to catch up, but I think the reason I dropped off was archive fatigue. I had a lot to get through to catch up, and I didn't particularly care for the series involved, so my attention waned.

Glad to see it back, though.

It Lives! This was one of the few long quests that really dragged me in and kept me interested throughout (along with the likes of Gate Quest, Xander Quest, and Anderson Quest), so I would in no way be opposed to it returning in some shape or form.

BURN THE NECROMANC—oh, wait, that's me.

Hi guys. It's been a while, hasn't it? Either way, during the break I ended up getting some rather useful feedback that pointed out a couple major errors. That led to me noticing more errors on my own and generally led to a depression-assisted mini-Grief-spiral when combined with the apparent trend of fewer readers over time and a recent (single-incident-based) reaming in the "where players go to scream" QQ thread. Not fun. I didn't want to rez this just to ask if people still wanted to play it, so the doubts simply stood alone. Rewinding to pre-MGLN-freeze would eat 80% of the quest and undo basically everything, so that's similarly unacceptable.

Imagine my surprise when the poll in the new snippet thread placed Ignition in the lead even above the quests that had recently updated. So, I finally got around to nearly-finishing the most recent update and here we are. I'll put it up about 24 hours from now should people wish to proceed.

I know at least a few players wanted more adventuring and exploration in Ignition, but I can't promise that'll happen; see previous pre-hiatus posts on quest direction. With that disclaimer in mind...

?
I'd be delighted to see this return, of course.

If your issue is with the Time Freeze itself, we'd probably all be fine with a heavily lampshaded reason for why it's suddenly not possible anymore. Something like another Planeswalker passing through briefly screwing up the local bubble of planes that was allowing us to do so technobabble technobabble technobabble. Or if you want to avoid even mentioning the possibility that other Planeswalkers exist, just say Kyubey did another experiment that poked an Eldrazi to the same result.

You could even tie it into why our selection of Planes to travel to is limited beyond "any possible plane imaginable".

More Alivaril quests is always good. While I'd like more Consumption and Fragmentation, Ignition was the first quest I ever read and I have a lot of nostalgia for it.

Nah, it went beyond that; the time freeze is simply the rough timing as opposed to the end-all issue, although I do consider its existence a mistake all on its own. The issues were incidents I like to think I've now learned from as opposed to ongoing problems, although pointing out the existence of a few is what will hopefully keep them from being ongoing problems. For example, narratively sidelining Nanoha: She did help Jade a bunch during timeskips, but that wasn't exactly shown onscreen. That'll probably stick around for a bit longer since she's a bit of a workaholic and now she has an impending deadline, but it can be avoided now that someone pointed it out.

The OOC handling of the Sidhe "Family" vote was another notable recent incident. Yes,
Jade's view of the subject is a little screwed up, IMO.
but vetoing it during execution instead of warning during voting was my fault.

QMing is a learning experience, but longer quests inevitably run into the problem of having learning experiences be a thing. Ones that haven't gone on as long and were made later can attract new readers without worrying as much about past mistakes while older and longer ones continue to have them pose problems for new readers. Related (edited into first post yesterday):
Fair warning for new readers: I, as a QM, made several major mistakes across the course of this quest. Feedback helps me learn from them and avoid repeating said mistakes, but I'm told a few major ones continue to make new readers drop this story years after they were made. Despite those, the tone of the story gets progressively lighter until I'm told the difference is "like night and day." If you can push past those — skipping chapters if you feel you need to — I don't think you'll find any ramps next to those particular shark tanks in future chapters.

That being said, I really do appreciate feedback. If something makes you drop the story, even if it's just simple boredom? Feel free to PM me about it. I won't bite your head off.

Considering this was the quest that introduced to you, and I actually started my own Planeswalker quest loosely based on it, how could I not have voted for it? I spent an entire quarter catching up on this.

I've been planning an omake for when this quest resumed. Who here remembers Aria Summers?

Was that even a question? :V

On the "Less readers over time" thing.... That's not a problem with the quest itself. It's something that will happen to ANY Quest or Story that has gone a long time without a update. No matter how Popular it actually is.
