Oh boy!
MTG's mana coloration / mana costs and the system for this quest are not identical.
This is somewhat interesting. I do wonder how the color pie will be redivided, if it exists in any form, if the concepts of MtG's canon color pie are the only ones that will be distributed or if new ones will be added or some will be removed, etc. etc. lots of wondering. But of course Miss Majou doesn't know anything about any of this, so I'll probably be wondering for quite some time.

Alivaril already having an idea of what the MC's powers will be like before the wish is actually a pretty interesting tidbit. I suppose it's that the mechanics and metal framework of it are set as the system of the quest, and the rest of the specifics are painted on by the wish.

Ignition doesn't have the same theme of things breaking apart/already being broken like Fragmentation and Splintered. This is unacceptable, QM! :D

It's going to remain mostly the same, but I tried to make it just a little more concrete in order to avoid the massive amounts of arguing we had in BTEA about what actions were what coloration. *shudder*

I may have failed miserably. We'll see.

Are you sure about that?

Well, morality nonsense and breaking away from the white/black nonsense people come up with is good. Kind of have been considering an MtG quest with a non-standard color pie myself, though I've been putting it off since BTEA has so many of those arguments, so maybe my brain's just focused on that opportunity.

Are you sure about that?
That smiley's never nice to have a QM give you!

Besides, 'ignition' is the start of a chemical reaction and release of energy from the breaking of bonds, so I think it does fit the naming scheme so far. But that's just me.

I think we should just get it over with and ask the question. Also it seems pretty likely despite the 'revealing' of magic that most of it is still hidden given that no one knows where witches come from, unless this is an alternate universe and things work differently here and witches aren't formed from magical girls.

Yes, this is mainly just an elaborate way of watching this thread as I have no idea what vote would be optimal.

The obvious way to avoid color arguments is to just only use colorless or that new diamond mana, and summon lots of cute Eldrazi drones to help us out.

I feel like we're going to get a non answer about witches, like them being born from despair or something. Still worth a shot though.

(As a sidenote, I really really wish we got to see incubators that weren't canon levels of dickishness sometime. Noir qubes had a surprisingly good characterization and it was refreshing to read about him because of it, or even play from his pov for a few threads.)

"I want your love, Kyubey!"

Amusingly enough, another quest (Puella Magi Contrivit Magica) did something rather similar to this, at least in terms of end result: wishing for Kyubey to do everything he could to help the PC. I am proud to be the person who thought up said wish. :lol

Update will be up in about two minutes.

EDIT: Did I say two minutes? I meant thirty seconds. :V

...Honestly, this feels a little off to you. Despite what you may want, the world isn't fair; it seems rather odd that Kyubey came to you right when you were really rather upset. Additionally, he has no thumbs; you don't see how he could possibly sneak in to your room. Unless he's been hiding under your bed for the past few hours or something, which is really creepy and not cute at all.

"What's the average life expectancy of magical girls?"

"Telling you the average would be both discouraging and misleading, as there do exist those who die during their very first witch fight. They manage to drag the average down significantly all by themselves."

You blink and try to ignore the sinking feeling in your stomach. You didn't know about those girls. The magical girls everyone talks about are the ones who have lived for several years.

"How limited is my karmic potential?"

"I'm afraid I'm unsure of how to answer that question. You could likely wish for all the people on a single floor of a hospital to be healed and have that wish be granted."

"What does the contract say?"

There's a slight pause. Somehow, you don't think he gets that question very often.

"There is no written contract. We can use the term 'agreement' if you prefer. In summary, in exchange for your wish, you will be expected to kill witches wherever you encounter them."

Well, that's nothing you didn't know already. Still, something that open-ended makes you just a little bit nervous. At least there are no loopholes to exploit, right?

"What's in this for you? Why turn people into magical girls?"

"Part of my job involves keeping humanity alive. If there were no magical girls, witches would wipe out all life on this planet."

...That's the first you've heard of Kyubey having an actual 'job'. The forums would love to hear about this one.

"Where do witches come from?"

"They are entities born from accumulated despair and sadness. So long as humanity survives, witches will continue to be created." he pauses. "Unless you were to somehow lose all emotion, but I do not believe you would consider that an acceptable trade-off."

You try to imagine a race with no emotion and promptly shudder. Without any desire to do anything, they'd all just lie down and starve to death. No, witches are definitely the lesser of two evils.

I say hold off as much as we can, see if we can get access to mana without contracting somehow.

Also that was almost precisely the non answer I thought it would be. Nice weaseling, kyubes.

She posts on meguca-related forums and doesn't have a wish in mind for if she gets the opportunity to go magi. She has had years to think about it. I don't believe this.

There's a difference between having no wish ready for Kyubey and having narrowed your possible wishes down to a single one.

Most people don't desire just one thing, after all.

[X] I wish for all of Kyubey's race to have the potential to become the same magical girls human girls turn into so that you can help up fight witches.

:lol:rofl::lol

@Khaos

He just said we have enough potential to affect ONE floor of a hospital with a healing wish, not an entire race.
