[X] Little Brass Gear Cube
[X] The Marbles
man, it's always a delight to read an update of this- I don't mind the wait, because this has always just been really fun to read. I'm happy to see another update- and hear that you're feeling better! c:

I am a pretty consistent lurker, but, after reading your Author's Note, felt the need to comment and participate simply to try and hand you the dopamine all authors crave.

With no exaggeration, this is my favorite quest I've followed of all time. It's engaging, it's got depth, I love the way you write character interactions and the clear thought you put into them. More than many quests and even fics I've read in the past, this most often feels like a window into a consistent world rather than an artifice of human make. Literally every time I've gotten the notification for Hold It In, I have immediately dropped what I was doing to read through it and I have reread this quest no less than 3 times.

Thank you so much for writing this, and sorry that I've lurked on it for literally years without participating or handing you the author dopamine.

[X] Moleskin Diary and Cards. (Deep layered thumps and scritches, the sound of 52 cards and 150 pages moving in tandem.)

Glad you're doing better @Prok.
@Prok did you intend for Jaune to say his two uncles' names are both Janus?
I'm assuming it's a reference to the two-faced Roman god.

Gym-bro Cardin isn't quite to the level of Pope Cardin, but it's certainly up there. I appreciate how nuanced you make characters feel without making it seem forced.

[X] Little Brass Gear Cube. (You genuinely have no idea what this is, but you know what sound gears make.)
I just think this one seems neat.

I know the reference, but how would that work when they're two different people.

And agreed. Depth without conflicting with their canon personality is nice. Though Pope Cardin? Where's that from?

[X] The Rosary. (Tiny little tandem staccato beats,
tiktiktiktiktiktik-)

[X] Moleskin Diary and Cards

I've never before considered playing a book as an instrument. This has potential.

Welcome back, Prok!

Cardin being a gym bro aside, I kind of want to see how Port reacts to us doing tempo and mixing thanks to the Transistor and playing off each other.

Oh! Two of these reminded me of songs!

Gears are cool and AWESOME. Glad to see this back frfr

@Prok I want to take a moment to express in my awkward, not great with words way, that this quest is always worth the wait. That when I woke up this morning and saw the notification in my email, I knew exactly what I was doing with my lunch break at work. Because you write consistently great stuff, and I'm always happy to see more of it.
I also wanted to say, and I think I've said it before, that us having to wait is fine. This quest, excellent as it is, doesn't pay your bills, take care of your family or your health, or pass your classes. And those things matter more for your wellbeing than our entertainment.
But, if validation from pseudonymous names on the internet can help, then I'm happy to provide it.

Yes, a cannon is a musical instrument, I will die on this hill (by cannonfire :V).
Tchaikovsky would agree with you, and so would I.

[X] Root Vegetables. (Snap! Crunch!! But you can only use each one once. Who ever heard of an instrument you can only use once?)

If you use the Transistor to cut the vegetables, that's not only more uses out of each vegetable, but also a different and unique sound that can be changed depending on how it's done!

This is genuinely a good instrument though

Very versatile - you can get a humming sound from rolling, a sharp clack or chime against other marbles or a solid surface, a rattle or rainfall patter if you put them in a bag...

It's great on a technical level, but I'm not sure it "fits" Jaune in particular?

Consider the following.
Process-based Marble Machine
that is all

[X] The Marbles. (Low and warm, glass and metal rolling across wood, scrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-)

also really glad to see you back Prok
and jokes on you, I'm sticking this through to the end. you're stuck with me forever

It's from Lords among the Ashes, and it's two quests, one here and one on SB, where it's about Ruby Rose, and Jaune Arc being inserted into a VR type simulation supposedly for a couple in-world weeks, but the Virus Cinder uses fucks up the Programming, so it's multiple YEARS. Really good story, with PLENTY of awesome.

Lords among the ashes (RWBY/CK2 quest)

Here you stand, two weeks before the Vytal festival is about to start, a leader of your own team...

I thought that we were supposed to provide uses?
[x] Jacks
- [x] Juggling, and bouncing off of surfaces, preferably at the same time/in the same flow of motion...
[x] Sunglasses
- [x] Don then and transform into The Music Man(!): A being with no understanding of concepts beyond music, and no inhibitions towards sound, singing, motion, or looking like the most doofus of soofuses to ever doofus. Jaune swears to not acknowledge the existence of such an alter-ego, nor the events that occur while under the influence.
