I went back to the relevant chapter and found it disconcerting that Cerynia was labeled the PROTECTOR of the emerald rivers, which is an alarming thing for a Grimm to be named, enough to make me think that it may not be a Grimm at all.

You look up and stare into the eyes of the beast.

Well, you were half-right- it's only managed to get back its left eye, which is currently staring down at you, wide and bright with complete and utter hatred for you, and something else you can't place.

… No. You can. You can, you just needed to adjust your sights for 'things Grimm shouldn't be able to do.' It's subtle, but it's still there. That eye, bound in place as it is, gives off the impression of a small, cornered animal, that wants to run very, very, very far away indeed.

So, just to be clear; we lost the chance to show Oz a living magical artificial intelligence (which may have allowed us to stabilize Ludens as fork #3) but because of that he asks the right questions to prod us into logic bombing ourself with Salem, since I assume if Ludens was alive that segment of our discussion time would have been filled with discussion about Ludens?
