I come from the opposite angle apparently as I have never seen RWBY. So the importance of names and locations elude me and you do not really explain in-story. Like I have no idea who Glinda Goodwitch is or Ozpin either, but apparently important and powerful?

You can get everything you'd need so far out of the first couple episodes, it probably wouldn't take more than an hour tops.

Never played Transistor, no trouble with keeping up with the quest.

As for the vote... I'll contribute when my blood to caffeine rate is somewhat better.

[X]Well?
-[X] Tell Lumen and Creme about yourself and the Process.

I want to say that you do a fantastic job characterizing Juane...and, well, with characters in general. I mean, goddamn. This update was right in the feels, man. And yeah, I can totally understand Ada's reaction to Juane's declaration of murderous rage. The guy is normally nice, unaggressive, polite, pacifistic, and not very threatening. Hearing him go all TFS!Gohan out of nowhere would be quite the surprise.

[X]Well?

Because why not?

Hey, @Prok, is it either assumed Jaune would have asked Ada about telling them or possible to ask specifically? I think telling them is the right move, but don't want to risk overshadowing her own big thing if she's not cool with it, and different quests can run that very differently.

Well, if you're familiar with Harry Potter...

Ozpin is basically the Dumbledore of RWBY, though he's unique in his own right. He's the headmaster of Beacon, the Hunter Academy of Vale (one of the four Kingdoms of Remnant). He has a lot of influence and prestige. He appears to be quite young, however, contrary to the Dumbledore comparison. His power is...not especially well defined, but it has to do with time.

Glynda is kinda like McGonnegal (spelling?), though much more of a powerhouse. Her power is telekinesis...with extremely high fidelity/control.

And Juane doesn't know about him yet, but Qrow Bronwen is another close associate of theirs, and he's one of the most skilled and capable fighters in the series, and he's Ruby's uncle. His semblance seems to be, hilariously enough, bad luck. For everyone around him when he's using it, friend and foe.

Compared to the likes of them, right now, Juane is hilariously inept and unskilled. He wouldn't last five seconds against any one of them. But they'd all respect Juane's capabilities once they get even an inkling about what he can do. They'll recognize that Juane is a guy with ludicrous potential, though he'll need a lot of time to realize that potential...and in the meantime, he's very much a squishy support wizard who has to outsmart his enemies and needs the time and space to even attempt that.

But yeah, Juane's whole "snap of his fingers, and another Cell appears in front of him" thing really cements him as the wizard archetype.

...dear god, Ruby is going to outright drool over Transistor. She's a weapon nut as it is, and Transistor is basically a huge, levitating, sapient-AI-housing, spell-casting, semblance-learning, cyberwarfare-extraordinaire greatsword made out of pure math.

Which is missing the point of the question.:V

It was asked how well understood the story was without background knowledge.

Honestly, you're not sure how much of this is on you. If her first idea was to just move to Mistral, as much as she complains about being penniless and treating Mistrali as a single language rather than seven dialects in a kimono, you... You get the feeling she doesn't do things by halves.

You say that like English isn't three languages stacked on each other's shoulders, wearing a very big trench coat and one of those glasses with the nose and mustache.

Still, you have to wonder, as you sip on the remnants of your milkshake, if maybe you should- ow, ow, brainfreeze, brainfreeze-

This- shit like this is why I love this quest. Because who hasn't gotten a brain freeze while trying to mull over something important before?

And I forgot to vote.
Derp.

Odd... All I see is just this one option...
Jokes aside, is there any reason not to?

I suppose if you were concerned about hostile parties learning about the Process, then the possibility of Creme's White Fang brother overhearing something or some similar scenario would lead you to withhold as much information as possible.

Because there's a certain someone who wants humanity dead and gone, and if she realizes what we've got J-crew is gonna join Amber in the club for people who've had a hit squad ambush them.

Of course, I don't think that'll be a serious issue in the near future. By the time it's a problem we should be surrounded by some of the best Hunter trainees around even if Beacon falls.

Well, this is a quest that was clearly RWBY from the first post. Some background knowledge or the willingness to at least wikiwalk on it is to be expected.

Niether character has appeared in story, why would it have to be described who they are so far? We as players decided to name drop them, because they are within Jaune's expected knowledge.

:lol
And you are still missing the point :V
I've been kinda curious about this, so humour me- how... ignorance-friendly, would you say this story is? Like, if you were somebody who'd never actually watched RWBY or played Transistor, could you follow along fairly well?
Prok literally asked how well I can follow this.

Nothing about if it is better or worse for it.

Even with zero interest in RWBY, I am still invested in this because it is only Transistor quest I know ;_;

That's my stance for quests in general. As a player, you should be expected to at least go check a wiki and read a paragraph or two when the rest of the players bring up a person of note when a vote is name dropping them without introduction.

It was Prok's job to introduce Weiss, because we can assume the Jaune has no knowledge of her. But when the players vote to name drop Glenda or Ozpin in a conversation Prok's job is to either say, "Jaune doesn't know about that" and deny the meta-knowledge jank, or roll make the conversation flow smoothly and ensure the tone stays on point.

The only things really important that you need to take away are that they there are people famous and powerful enough to act as a deterrent for the current big bad in the local area. They can be introduced later.

So the player without the other players knowledge can either go research who was name dropped, or just wait for their actual introduction to explain why they're so well known.

For example. If Harry Potter already knew who Dumbledore was at the start of the first book, he would just roll with the fact that people were name dropping him because he didn't need to ask who they were talking about; but the readers would have no face or details to put to the name in the first part of the book. Later we would see those claims verified when Harry meets him and he's given a chance to showcase his wisdom and cement his place as a guiding figure.

True though that may be, that hour is several weeks of your life you won't be getting back.

Because RWBY volume one is so bad. Like, I do enjoy the show. I enjoy it a lot!

But volume one took me literally weeks to get through.

... part of me really wants to do this, but... I'm not entirely sure. Just feeling kinda paranoid about it.

Me? I don't understand what a brain freeze is. I've never had one. I've had...teeth freezes, I guess? But I don't understand how brain freezes work when your brain has no ability to physically feel anything.

When you eat something cold, like icecream, and it causes you to have a sudden sharp headache that passes after half a minute or so.

...why? That's super weird. Why would you get a headache but not have teeth that are painfully cold first, or at least on top of that? Headaches are caused by pain in the muscles of the head.

When something very cold touches the roof of your mouth, the nerves sometimes respond by causing rapid constriction and swelling of blood vessels. The pain hits the head. It tends to happen when one is eating something cold really quickly. Teeth feeling frozen rather than a brain freeze is the other potential outcome, but they are 2 distinct thongs caused by similair circumstances.

That's right, the brain has no pain receptors, and in fact some specific types of brain cancers are actually treated while the patient is awake in order to test where the tumors end and healthy neurons begin. But brain freezes are not an accurate term for what actually happens to you when you get that headache. What happens during a 'brain freeze' is that the sudden drop in temperature causes the arteries in the back of your throat to suddenly contract, which the brain interprets as pain.

What you call teeth freezes are different, those are just when your teeth are worn down sufficiently that it exposes some of the nerves typically protected by the enamel (Or more accurately exposes the secondary coating that protects the nerves but conducts cold more easily). If your teeth are healthy enough that there aren't any holes in the enamel coatings, then the cold won't penetrate and thus you won't feel any pain in your teeth.

Might as well make it a secret revealing session. It's not like Creme and Lumen have a reason to give this information to the wrong people, right? :V

Well, I barely know anything about Transistor, and I've been following along nicely, so you haven't messed up that part.

On the RWBY side, I can only guess, but let's be honest here; pretty much everything that has happened in-quest is basically OC content. The only exception is the terminology, and even that's simple enough to grasp.

I come from the opposite angle apparently as I have never seen RWBY. So the importance of names and locations elude me and you do not really explain in-story. Like I have no idea who Glinda Goodwitch is or Ozpin either, but apparently important and powerful?
In other words, you understood the relevant part (that they're important and powerful), so I'd say Prok is doing good enough :p
