I don't see him as particularly angry or impulsive, but your reading of the character may differ. I'm not sure where you see great anger in him (he even excused the actions of the wizards that killed his family instead of being vengeful), and his choices so far seem to make him less impulsive than many other kids his age, so patently untrue is an exaggeration.
Birdsie paraphrased canon, and missed out what else a Holly wand represents.

According to Garrick Ollivander, holly was one of the rarer kinds of wand woods; traditionally considered protective, it worked most happily for those who might need help overcoming a tendency to anger and impetuosity. At the same time, holly wands often chose owners who were engaged in some dangerous and often spiritual quest.[1]

I'm not sure how much of the book canon is true here, and the first part of that doesn't apply to Harry in my opinion. If the dangerous quest part is still true I might reconsider, but I don't want to make choices based on information that might not be true in this quest.

Impetuous perfectly describes this Harry.

Not sure why people think the Holly wand is weak or average.
It's like this. Phoenix Feather is solidly middle of the road in terms of power and stability. No affinity for or against the Dark Arts. An 11 inch wand is average, Power and finesse in balance. Supple is middle of the road in terms of jack of all trades vs specialist wand. And Holly amplifies the properties of the core(I have no idea how to conceptualize that with a Phoenix feather). In that sense, it is an all-rounder jack of all trades wand, given its value in gnosis from its affinity with us and Priori Incantem with His wand.

Phoenox feather is a powerful core. It being able to use both light and dark magic equally is a plus. The perfect balance of power and finesse is a plus. Supple flexibility is a plus. A 5 Gnosis wand is pretty potent.

It isn't an all-rounder jack of all trades. It's a powerful wand with a powerful affinity towards us. It wants to be used, and is capable of performing any type of magic we want.

Perhaps I should rephrase it then. It's a wand that has an Extraordinary affinity for us(Whatever precisely that mechanically), is neither bad nor good at anything and gives us Priori Incantatem with His wand. You can't however, stack wand affinity with a Trismegistus pick to become godlike at something. For example, the now invalid wand of the Maestro is optimized for fine detail work such as Transfiguration, and explosively accelerates our ability to learn new magic such as Transfiguration. If you stack Trismegistus(Transfiguration) on top of that, you get a shot at getting powerful enough in transfiguration to turn all your problems into nails so to speak.

Edit: If we're trying to get as much power as we can as fast as possible, tricks like that are probably going to be something we need.

This isn't true. Holly wands specialise in defensive magic. Both Charms and Transfiguration can be used for defensive purposes.

Ahhh so the power comes from the legend?

Not the Legend but whatever special means were used to create it or maybe the specific cores/wood provided where far from the usual variation they there. Maybe a super special Thestral. Only the combo of Affanc Hair plus Ancient Roman Wand Wood would get us close to the Elder Wand but that would leave us in massive gnosis debt and thus isn't wise.

Ah ok, iget it now thanks woulde thoght the legend played a bigger part though

You mean the Legend of Death? I don't know how Birdsie intends to handle things with regard to it...but it is possible that there was some involvement with the entity known as Death. Perhaps it enhanced the Wand to the absurd power it has. /shrug Regardless of the case, replicating the combination ourselves would not get us a wand equal to the Elder Wand. There was some more to its creation than just the core/wood would tell us.
