There's a time to spend and a time to save. When we've got 2-3 turns left, no clues and our lives on the line is when you start spending. Runes are probably relevant to what's going on, so we'd better cash in now so we don't get ourselves killed with 40+ Gnosis in the pocket.

I know it's painful, but life comes first and foremost. Everything else can be handled later.

If we don't spend the gnosis now, then it's quite possible that we'll have to burn it just so we don't die. Yeah. Like... without Thrice-Great-Sovereign and its advancement doubling for Trismegistus fields, it's completely possible that Eternal Ancient Runes Mastery as described in the blurb would be a 48 gnosis achievement at our level. Rending of Untold Infinities might be a 38 Gnosis achievement.
