Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

kinda excited we've learned about maggy this early. Wonder what we should do about her and her normie family since their probably not dead yet.

-Waiting for Harry to find out that he was actively disappeared into the foster system.
As in, his grandfather couldnt find him either, and he was only one of several people looking.
Wonder if it will occur to him to ask his godmother :V

-This is where it occurs to me for the first time how this might look to the rest of the Council.
If Harry walks into this Caul and walks back out clean under his own power, his reputation in the Council is probably going to acquire all sorts of additional curlicues.

-Plot hook trigger early.
Either we didnt kill Arianna Ortega quickly enough to stop her sharing information, Martin has some sort of contact, knowing or not with Nephandi, or Martin reported to Red Court intelligence that shared information with the Ashraaaf.

Either way, this triggers immediately as something that takes a slot next turn.
Margaret Angelica Rodriguez-Dresden Mendoza was conceived in February 2003, and thus born in November 2003.
So she should be turning 4 in November 2007. Her foster family live in Guatemala.

Question is if we move fast enough to keep the fosters alive.

-For those interested, here is confirmation that this fucker is the local equivalent of a Nephandus archmage..
Ashraaaf is not a name, its a title:
Nephandic Title
In the current era, only Infernalist Nephandi assign much importance to these titles. Though considered traditional, the following honorifics (aside from Ashraaah) are rather archaic, and the newer generation doesn't pay much attention to them anymore. Capitalization is a matter of taste, combined with the desire to not get cooked by a pissed-off elder.

Adsinistratus: A specialist in temptation, corruption, subversion, betrayal, and renunciation of previous ethics and loyalties. Plural adsinistrati.

Ashraaah: A powerful Nephandus who has created her own Realm(s) and largely exiled herself from Earth. Plural Ashraaahs.(See Gilledian.)

Aswad: A "bodhisattva of the Abyss" who appears to be a normal person but is actually a Nephandus of deceptive and astonishing power. Sometimes also used to refer to Nephandic Archmages or (rarely) Oracles. Plural aswadim. According to rumor, only six or seven such entities exist, but they are, by nature, deceptive, so there may be fewer of them... or more.

dregvat: Old name for a Nephandic pawn, cultist, or ally.Plural dregavi. Often referred to as "the dregs," this title is never capitalized, as dregs are not worth that much respect.

Gilledian: Absurdly powerful and deformed Nephandi whose paranormal talents and scars have left them unfit for earthly reality. Named for the infamous French Infernalist Gillesde Rais. Plural gilledians or sometimes gillediai.

Lila: Old name for a Nephandic elder of the feminine gender. Named, of course, for Lilith. Plural lili, lilai.

Prelate: Nephandic elder of formidable power and influence but subtle tactics. Plural prelati.

Shaytan: Violent Nephandic stormtrooper, AKA cannonfodder. Plural shaytans.
Yes, thats essentially what Mikaboshi did to create the Wicked City.

So basically this is the Ashraaaf Marcus Drusus. Once-human Yama King.
This is a horrifyingly powerful magic dude. Only humanborn Nephandus that might be more powerful would be one of the aswadim, the literal Nephandi bodhisattva.

-Either way, we're going to have to invade some NeverNever pocket to find and kill this guy.Which means probably not this turn. Because even if he's here in the flesh right now, high-end Nephandi explicitly have a (contingent)teleport escape spell called Abyssal Escape(Spirit 5, Correspondence 5, 10 successes) that pops them back to some refuge in the spirit world.

-Oh, he's Starborn as well?
And he's implying a very transhuman approach to soul/mind-sculpting that reminds me of what the Pathfinders(the Fomor front group) used to do to themselves. As well as a hilariously optimistic list of ambitions; eat God indeed.

Of course, Nephandi. He can very easily be lying about any or everything he has mentioned here; its a thing they do.

That said, the familiarity with shucos(Guatemalan hotdogs sold as streetfood) speaks to a familiarity with modern/recent cuisine that suggests that he's spent significant amount of time in modern society.
And I caught the old gold coin that appears to support his identiy as Marcus Drusus.

-Its worth noting how apt it is that two years of cohabitation with the Shadow of a Fallen Angel has prepared Harry Dresden specifically for engaging with this kind of insidious talker.

Or this is a part of how this Labyrinth goes. Harry is undergoing a spirit quest. He willingly and actively stepped in with the express purpose of doing this. The quest giver getting access to information about him, up to and including temporarily getting "Intellectus: thing related to Harry Dresden" is almost expected.

Grab them, move them, park them next to the Carpenter house.
Send the kids off to Catholic school in Chicago.
Assuming we can reach them before someone murders them in the process of abducting Maggie.

Yeah both are definitely possible.

Or he could have just been mining the dreams of the people whose minds he invades. It is not necessary to visit modern society in order to know it.

Might just get overshadowed by everything else, especially since the council probably won't be eager to share the specifics of this place around. If they just leave it at him being present here with the rest of us then it won't necessarily have quite as exciting an impact.

Possible, but unlikely. The existence of Limos puts hard limits on his ability to mine the dreams and memories of others.

Man wouldnt have needed Harold Shaw to build him a memories eating demon thing if he himself was a master of extracting and reading said memories at any kind of accelerated speed; he'd have built his own without risking the security break.
Or even just ripped the dev work out of Shaw's head and done the work himself.

In fact, what we've seen thus far suggests that his paradigm has limitations like Kattrin's.
Im guessing the Seer moniker is what they call a clue.

=====
Also, it doesnt mean he was physically present in Guatemala. Its possible he did possession of mooks to look around. If he managed telepresence in the Hidden Halls, and was daring enough to do so, walking the streets in someone else's body seems very much the sort of training wheels that evil wizards start with before breaking into magic fortresses.

Besides, the memory of Susan there is very much that of someone who has experienced her firsthand to craft a vision that passes Harry's muster. Harry dated her for two years, and even Soulgazed her IIRC. Man has all sorts of circumstantial bonuses to identifying her. Thats a really hard thing to try to fake.

There's 20ish junior Wardens here, as well as the Merlin's entourage of OGs.
The Council is going to insist on multiple independent assessments of every wizard who walked into this place.
And I dont blame them.

He didn't create the Wicked City (realm) in Quest, he stole it after killing its previous owner.
I dont recall that quote, and would appreciate a citation.

I do not buy that anyone could vanish Harry away from Ebenezer. He should have been able to scry him using their shared family connection if nothing else. Not to say he wasn't hidden, but that maybe the Blackstaff did not look as hard as he could have because he thought 'if he's lucky he'll never know'.

Anyway vote closed, time to see how hard Harry can annoy a two thousand year old once-human horror.

It's the quote I gave you earlier in regards to why Molly killing a Fallen Angel isn't completely out of the question for our timeline.

On that note it should also be kept in mind that Mikaboshi was once mortal and he became one of the lords of Yomi which means that as a mortal he somehow killed something with at least the theoretical power of an angel, either by drawing it away from its domain or finding some hidden weakness. These are the kind of secrets that no one ever speaks of for obvious reasons.

I mean wasn't charities blood only barely barely enough to find molly in arctis tor for harry? While she'd only been gone for like a day and its harrys specialty and is her mother not grandparent? Which probably weakens the connection. Oh and while in the same city for where they were kidnapped.

Harry's specialty yes, but Harry is also a baby wizard. Also Molly was in another layer of reality, not another city and that is not even getting into the fact that 'the foster system' isn't some arcane machine, it has a paper trail that can be followed.

well yeah but one specialty, two his gramps probably had never even had a conversation with harry at that point, were likely on opposite sides of the planet, third the trail was probably cold by the time he knew he was lost, and fourth mother to daughter rather than grandfather to grandson. All of those probably make the tracking way harder likely not impossible but definitely far harder.

To put it another way Molly who is not at all related to him had a source from her mother and he was able to track her outside of his realm of existence as a baby wizard. Ebenezer has both a paper trail and his own blood that he can literally sacrifice to track down Harry if he feels the absolute need to. Curses and subsequently tracking flow excellently downhill. All of that before the fact he is an insanely powerful wizard who literally taught Harry thaumaturgy.

harry had barely managed it and molly had been gone for less than a day at this point and the way to the place she was in was in the same city at least. I don't think the connection matters much when saying not related to him. His gramps had likely never once had a conversation with him at this point had maybe been in his presence a hand full of times almost definitely weakens the sympathetic connection which would be weaker anyways on account hes the grandparent not the parent. Paper trails fair though.

Fairly sure eb had problems finding his daughter at times even if he did find her occasionally.

Sympathetic connections are active not passive as long as Harry didn't do anything to literally differentiate his blood from ebenezers he would always remain his blood grandfather. The father of his mother.

They also don't particularly care about time the distance is what matters in that instance he tracks her essentially an infinite mundane distance using her mother's hair how long she was gone from this realm of existence isn't of particular Import in that example.

As an example Harry now that he knows Maggie exists could literally use his own blood to track her down because she remains his blood even though he's literally never heard of her before and had no idea about her existence before today.

He has limited reach inside reality, which is why he needs minions in the first place. In any case, he didn't actually care about the knowledge collected. That was Shaw's personal project they happened to be exploiting for the bio weapon.

Only the people immediately with Molly know the details of it though. Masking the follow up as investigating the damage done by mind control and other evil wizard stuff wouldn't be completely out of line.

The point of Shaw's demon thingy wasn't (from Hollow Man's perspective) the ability to store memories, but the ability to self-propagate.

@DragonParadox do these look okay doing something a bit new with the perfected metals.

These are along the same lines as the gemstone bones internal Alchemy meant to reinforce existing body structure and bring it to new heights to refine and strengthen what is already there.

●●●● Apogee of Poise Culmination

A light quirk of the lips (happiness, amusement), a minute clench of the hand (aggression, anger), the slightly bowed head (depression, submission), the lilt of tone (Smug, schadenfreude), a slight twitch (trauma, readiness), A tense of the abdomen and shoulders (aggression, attack). All signs of communication, emotional, physical and reactive, instinctively given and instinctively interpreted. These pills by boosting and enhancing the bodies and minds natural interpretation and instinct about implicit communication can grant a near preternatural instinctive grace and readiness.

Similar to Enhanced Pheromones (●) (Mage The Ascension 20th Anniversary: Pg. 660) The character gains two additional dice for a certain Social-based dice pool, provided that he's got an opportunity to turn on the charm and let micro expressions and provocations do the work. Although such Alchemy experiments don't confer Talents and Skills he does not already possess, they can add to his attempts at Etiquette, Expression, Intimidation, Leadership, Style, Subterfuge, and, of course, Seduction.

As well as granting a heightened Appearance and Wits cap as dictated by the quality of the pills. 1 success grants both an Appearance and Wits potential increase of one to a possible 6 in both attributes; further successes are divided between Appearance and Wits potential to a maximum of eight in both stats.

Further successes can be allocated to time between pills. The initial interval between doses is Weekly and is set by successfully crafting the pills. The second is a Monthly, the third interval is quarterly, the fourth interval is Biannual and The fifth interval is Yearly intake.

Failure to keep on this regimen grants a negative dice penalty equal to the Attribute over the Mortal cap and they increase difficulty by the same amount for a number of days equal to the number of dots over the mortal Attribute cap. After a number of weeks equal to the above mortal attribute it fades away back to Mortal standards. In that intervening time the character's social impact is particularly debilitated, reducing the difficulty to ignore or resist their influence by two.

●●●● Superlative Organelle Dissolution

This powder, meant to be taken with food once fully digested and distributed throughout the body, improves and reinforces the organs and organelles of the body. The rods and cones of the eyes, the hair cells of the ears, the olfactory organelles of the nose and the organs of the cardiovascular system though these perfected viscera require double the intake of calories to keep functional.

Similar to the Sensory Enhancers (Mage The Ascension 20th Anniversary: Pg. 661) this ingested dust sharpens sight, smell, hearing, and in some cases touch. It gives a -2 difficulty to relevant Perception rolls. However, any bright flashes and other major stimuli can overload the heightened senses, which will blind, deafen, or otherwise debilitate for a full round per success. A difficulty 6 Stamina roll prevents the temporary overload. This powder also grants one additional bruised health level as a result of the organs improving.

As well as granting a heightened Stamina and Perception cap as dictated by the quality of the powder. 1 success grants both a Stamina and Perception potential increase of one to a possible 6 in both attributes; further successes are divided between Stamina and Perception potential to a maximum of eight in both stats.

Further successes can be allocated to time between meals laced with the powder. The initial interval between meals is Weekly and is set by successfully crafting the dust. The second is a Monthly, the third interval is quarterly, the fourth interval is Biannual and The fifth interval is Yearly drinks.

For any purpose other than soak, stamina is considered halved until it fades back to Mortal standards.
With level 5 Alchemy you're able to use three dot Supernatural powers and at matter three you're capable of perfecting metals. Plus I was hankering for some materials that just weren't nondescript stronger than titanium metal that have distinct elements to them that tie into the greater World itself.

I wanted to put a note or something like when Molly either learns or studies or makes these that they have names like orichalcum and Luna Argent but it doesn't feel right to call them that because they lack the depth or feel necessary or something along those lines. I gave them different names because of that but that's what true silver and Auruamite are.

Something like they're a half step away from being those things but one's lacking the unyielding elasticity of purpose of the wish metal and the other lacks the protean touch of the moon goddess.

Same with perfected iron something along with missing the touch of the strands of Fate wound it tight or something like that.

●●●●● Auruamite (Perfected Gold)

Is a heavy golden material that is perpetually warm to the touch and almost seems to glow with an inner fire. It is soft enough to twist with the hands, but elastic enough to retain its given shape once set. Its luster and color are similar to that of gold, except it presents more red and warm hues than gold in even its purest forms. Like gold, it can be spun out to fine, thin threads or hammered into thin leafs. This Greater Gold is still gold, and has many of the qualities that regular gold has, like superconductivity and malleability, but enhanced. Any electronic device using Greater Gold circuitry may also grant -1 difficulty on relevant rolls. It is completely impervious to corrosion and is considered chemically inert.

Greater Gold, due to its Purity and nature resonates particularly well with magics granting a -2 difficulty to enchant, enhance or have spells cast upon itself by its owner acting as a unique and specialized instrument (Magickal Difficulty Modifiers Mage the ascension 20th anniversary Pg. 503).

When used as a Magical Tool/Focus for Hellfire, Shadowcasting, Pyrokinesis, Psychokinesis, Conveyance [non-teleportation], Weather Control (Forces) or Mana Manipulation, Ectoplasmic Generation Enchantment (Prime) spells, the sorcerer reduces the difficulty by one on her spellcasting. Any spell cast from an imbued item crafted primarily of Auruamite Reduces the difficulty by 1.

●●●●● True Silver

is a soft metal that has the same gleam and luster of polished silver. It is cool to the touch, and shines brightly beneath the light of the moon. It has an almost liquid sheen that reflects its protean nature; it can be molded into nearly any shape or form with a minimum of effort, although only in the hands of a master craftsman is its true beauty made manifest. It has a bluish color not normally associated with its mundane equivalent, and has a mirrored surface. It is sturdier than silver, and can be forged into weapons that do not lose their edge easily, Like silver, it can be spun into thin threads and is deadly to Theriomorphs, usually dealing aggravated damage to Shapechangers and the like.

Due to having resonance with vision quests and crossroads so True Silver behaves as a unique and specialized instrument (Magickal Difficulty Modifiers Mage the ascension 20th anniversary Pg. 503) for spells associated with seeing - such as other places, other times, and across the Gauntlet.

When used as a Magical Tool/Focus for Shapeshifting, Healing, Biocontrol, Psychic Healing (Life) or Summoning, Warding, Conjuration, Psychoportation, Clairvoyance, Conveyance [teleportation] (Correspondence) and Oneiromancy spells, the sorcerer reduces the difficulty by one on her spellcasting.

●●●●● Kypris (Perfected Copper)

It shines brightly and is fiery red in color. It can also have a rich green hue that tends to hold and catch the light, glowing with an ocean-depth. It is a superconductor, perfect conductor of heat and electricity and is chemically inert. It offers up absolutely no electrical resistance whatsoever. Even when it is melted down, the electrons are led through its substance without a single joule being converted to heat. Any superconductor has the capability of being a far more potent magnet than any other permanent magnet. Therefore Kypris can have magnetic ratings which are usually only possible with electromagnets.

Due to having resonance with thought and protection Kypris behaves as a unique and specialized instrument (Magickal Difficulty Modifiers Mage the ascension 20th anniversary Pg. 503) for spells associated with that deflect, protect with and from, or redirect magic.

When used as a Magical Tool/Focus for Alchemy, Cyberkinesis (Matter) or Fascination, Illusion, Cyberpathy, Animal Psychic, Anti-Psychic, Mind Shields, Psychic Hypnosis, Psychic Hypnosis, Psychic Invisibility, Psychic Vampirism, Synergy, Telepathy (Mind) spells, the sorcerer reduces the difficulty by one on her spellcasting.

●●●●● Siderite (Perfected Iron)

Siderite is the least lustrous of all the perfected metals and appears the same as normal worked iron. Siderite is exactly like iron; it is usually a dull matte black, not susceptible to rust. It is heavy, soft, and brittle. Siderite is not generally magnetic, but the shaping process almost always causes it to become so, especially if an iron or steel hammer is used. It never suffers metal fatigue - siderite can bend like rubber and spring back with no creep or deformation at all. Siderite holds an edge that never dulls. Siderite has a grey gleam that may glitter a bit more than ordinary iron, but other than that nothing about it makes it look particularly special at all.

Due to having resonance with purpose and existence or Fate. Siderite behaves as a unique and specialized instrument (Magickal Difficulty Modifiers Mage the ascension 20th anniversary Pg. 503) for spells associated with that strengthens and or reinforces the purpose or existence of an object.

When used as a Magical Tool/Focus for Binding, Astral Projection, Channeling (Spirit) Fortune (Entropy) or Chronomancy, Divination, Precognition (Time) spells, the sorcerer reduces the difficulty by one on her spellcasting.
