Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

We're immune to cold Environmental Hazards, even supernatural ones, and we get some more dice to soak direct attacks made via cold, like a frost beam or ripping heat out, if I remember correctly.
ah so if mab went forever winter on the world we'd survive that if she threw her own personal attacks at us that are cold based she'd probably still shred us to bits.

Salt is super cheap, easy to store safely, doesn't release horrible fumes that could melt our siblings' lungs, and isn't regulated even slightly.

I'm not opposed to using bleach, muriatic acid, or any other relatively easily available household chemicals, but from a safety standpoint given our living situation, I think we will have the least trouble convincing our parents to let us keep a garden tub out in the garage or storage shed filled with super saturated salt water.
Eighty dollars and a hundred kilos of storage space for salt.
As compared to around thirteen dollars for two gallons of concentrated Clorox.
You use it, you open the drain and let it run out of the tub.

Or just make a freezer that freezes enough ice to dump in a tub.
Zero degree water is deadly.

Anyway, this opens a lot of ideas here. And we could probably use this (or, rather, a smart door idea) as a poor man's teaching charm. "Lock the door until the students learn the lesson" or something like that. What would we be rolling when trying to teach someone something anyway? Intelligence + talent we are trying to teach? Or would it be some social attribute?

Teaching the hard way without charms would be Charisma+Skill you are trying to teach since what matters is less raw mental acuity and more getting the skill across to the student.
 
Going back to how to craft when inside a bath of bleach, I pointed out before that o e of the ways that the 'Multiple limbs' shintai feature can manifest is as telekenesis. With that, Molly should be able to craft from the comfort of her vat of acid.

And helping with multi-action penalties would be good enough to get anyway.

I think inverse diving suit should work. It'll be a challenge to make gloves that wouldn't hinder us, but we are Exalted. We should be fine.

I'd want the telekinesis anyway, as being able to do multiple things at once with less of a penalty is really useful, as is the sheer utility of we ever get captured or similar.

Alright, so here is my Shintai Idea.

The Glorious Apocalypse Princess

Shintai: Devil-Tyrant Avatar Shintai
Strength +1, Dexterity +4, Stamina +1

Demonic Aspect:
-Demon Armor (x2): +4 Soak
-Hardened Devil Body (x4): +12 Bruised Health levels
-Swift Stride: Movement speed and jumping distances are doubled.

Appearance:
A terror born from the Nuclear Radiance of the Long Night and the fear born from the Nightmare of Atomic Armageddon, she walks forth clad in the armor seemingly carved from Brass and Basalt, yet paradoxly Finely-crafted and customized exactly to task. In all appearance, the armor appears to be made with exceptional craftsmanship with its own unique flourishes and decorations.

The core of the Armor is made from Basalt drawn seemingly from the depths of Lanka, the Demon City of the Rakshas. Yet savants of the occult, if allowed to study the material, will realize that this Basalt has no origins in Lanka, instead hinting at a far more ancient and forgotten origin. Indeed, for the Basalt that makes up the core of the armor is far older then even the most ancient of the Bedrocks of Lanka.

The Brass that highlights the Basalt is no less impressive. If observed under eyes that can see beyond the mundane, Green writing, glowing faintly, can be seen. If one can read the arcane and forgotten language then they would understand that the writings are wards made from litanies praising the rise of the Glorious Apocalypse Princess.

She wears the Horned helm of Ruin and Glory, marking her as a Demon Royal. On her shoulders sits the heraldry of the Demon Empress to be, the badge of Glory that strikes fear in the hearts of those who understand the magnitude of the terror to come for the same represent the Creation Ruling mandate that the Empress wields, taken from the hands of the cold dead corpses of her opponents.

But not all is lost, for the Heavens are not blind to the terror the Princess represents and saw fit to send forth their finest Knight, who tempered indifference with Compassion, doubt with conviction, indulgence with temperance and fear with Valor. Thus, the Empress to be wears the Mantle of Sunlight, that shines not with the balefire of Nuclear Annihilation but with the light of the resplendent dawn, representing strength, superiority, order, glory and striving for the absolute. For all things must end, even the Long Night and there must always be hope for tomorrow.

But whether the gambit of Heaven awoke the Spark of Solar Glory......only time shall tell.

Transformation:
The Empress to be stands unmoving and unflinching under her foe's onslaught, hardening her body to break her foes against her immortal flesh. She waits until the light of hope begins to shine in her foe's eyes before she utters one and only one word.

"No"

The shock of the absolute act of defiance spreads at an ever expanding rate, the word travelling through the filaments of her World, calling forth its very foundations to aid her. She flares her Anima and immediately collapses the same into her flesh, producing a brief, blinding cataclysm of emerald flame even as Dark Essence flows into her, beginning her transformation.

Her heart begins to palpitate and her blood gleams with the green light of Armageddon. The same tainted essence flows through her veins like blood, transforming her flesh with the materials of a Demon City for older then Lanka. Her form is clad in armor grown from her own body, even as her hair takes on a brassy sheen and hardens into a helm fit for a Empress. Material flows within her body, forming replacements limbs and organs and so that the same may be made of hardier material and not pathetic flesh.

When the light clears, the Empress to be stands transformed, her demonic nature stamped unmistakably into her flesh as her anima roars once more.​

Notes:
The Transformation pings off the legend of the Infernals in ExWoD, where Shintai are the shadow of the Demon Emperor they might become should they ascend to a throne above the Earth with the dawning of the Sixth Age. They are heralds of the new age and by definition, do not belong in this one. For within their hearts ticks the doomsday clock, a promise, a world engine, a reflection of what should be. Thus they can't help but rejects what is for what could be and set forth to make their world a reality and it is minutes from midnight.

It referenced both the origins of the Infernal's power being derived from the Yozis power, what they become and the Horror of Nuclear War. The same also includes the fact that the Heavens have reached out to Molly and keeps the hope for tomorrow which also references the fact that they were once Solars who were changed.

The form and theme of both the appearance and transformation represents Great and Terrible power but also one that is tempered by Hope and Faith which references Molly's upbringing as well as her character. There is no redemption for Infernals but even the darkest of days and the Blackest of Nights must end and a new Dawn always rises, representing the death of an age and the birth of a new one. Though if the Dawn is Green or Gold, if not in form then in spirit, is yet to be decided.

Reasons:

Size and ease:

Devil Tyrant Avatar is human sized. What this means is that any place that Molly can enter into, she can transform in with no ill effects. So, we do not have to worry about being underground, in a building or even being in a car. We can transform with no extra difficulties due to location, size, and other such restrictions. We can also do all the things Molly can and are not penalized for it nor is her appearance reduced to 0 like in ALL the other Shintai options.

By comparison, we have Demon -Emperor which is at the minimum 12 ft tall and has stated difficulties going through a door. It's huge size also makes fine manipulation extremely difficult if not outright impossible, due to the gigantic size and what form we take.

Incarnate Apotheosis Shintai is a natural disaster such as a living sandstorm, inferno, pool of living acid studded with eyes, amorphous shadow, or swarm of demonic locusts etc. It also operates on the swarm rules found on page 391 of V20, which…..yeah. It does soak damage so there is that but still.

Then there is Devil-Beast Shintai, which is an animal form but suffers a –3 penalty to all attempts to perform fine manipulation due to its lack of proper human hands.

Stat Spread:

Then there is the Stat Spread. Devil-Tyrant Avatar is the only Shintai that offers +4 Dex.

Strength +1, Dexterity +4, Stamina +1

Dexterity is the absolute key to both avoiding getting hit and hitting enemies. You can make up strength with the Venomous Demon Aspect +3 Lethal Dice and charms like GSNF and augment stamina with Demon armor Aspect for +2 Soak and charms like VLE, but if dexterity is low, we are not going to be doing much in combat except bleeding out.

To put it simply, if we do not take max dex now, we will never be getting another Dex booster as there is no other dex booster at all.

You can also justify rolling it for just about any physical task. It encompasses gross agility, fine dexterity, general flexibility, hand-eye coordination, and running and movement, being prone etc. This especially combos well with Devil-Tyrant as the shintai can do all the things Molly Can do, so we do not loose out on any ability and instead get a flat boost on what we can do in combat.

What this means is that we roll like this.

Dex 4 + Melee 5 + Shintai 4 + Stunt 2. So 15 Dice without a Excellency in combat without needing to spend any essence and 24 dice with an Excellency. This is immediately out of the gate at E2 and will only increase once we get to Dex 5 for a max of 26 dice.

Demon Aspects:

Devil-Tyrant Avatar grants us 7 Demonic Aspects and builds off our Human form. What that means is that we can customize it as we see fit. However, it should be noted that if added to a shintai- Demon Aspects are forever locked behind the shintai. So what that in mind….

Aspects Already Gained:

Demon Weapons – Melee Sword from our Head demon.

Transcendent Anathema – By Rage Recast.

Aspects to take for the Shintai:

Demon Armor (x2)– Adds +4 Soak.
Swift Stride – Doubles Moment Speed and Jumping distance. Applies to Flight when we take it, so it is not rendered redundant.
Hardened Devil Body (x4) – 12 (3 x4) Bruised (–0) health levels.

We can purchase Essence Ox-Body charms in our base form but does not apply to our Shintai and if we do not take at least 4 HDB then our base form will have more health levels than our shintai. So, by taking it HDB 4 times, this makes our Shintai competitive in High Essence fights as it has the Equivalent of taking x4 Ox-Body technique and can keep up with High Essence enemies that do boatloads of damage in single attacks.

With this our health levels look like this….

-0/-0/-0/-0/-0/-0/-0/-0/-0/-0/-0/-0/-0/-0/-0/-1/-1/-4/Na.

As you can see, this allows us to get hit, a LOT and fight high level opponents with a reasonable degree of failure. The point of the shintia is to act as a buffer against dying and having a ton of health levels would aide in that. Anything more then 4 is a waste as we will be getting other charms to heal/mitigate damage. But similarly, anything less then 4 makes us much more squishy then we really should be in a super mode.

In addition, we have greatly reduced wound penalties, thanks to the -0s and can put off taking Ox-body charms for our base body as they would not be that much of a Priority.

I like it though being honest I don't know enough about exalted to argue if its that good an option or not I just like it kek. Also its not quite a giant form and I don't really want a giant form honestly dex is king and we can't use the giant form in a lot of places.

It is interesting that her dreams are of being underwater. And we have no Boiling Hell charms.

Perhaps in employing the little rejects, castoffs and impurities, she gives them Names and Purpose. We see this with Dresden and Major General Toot-Toot Of the Za Guard, and how he began to grow in size and power after Dresden named him and gave him a semi-permanent job. Purpose translated to power.

I wonder whats going to happen when she forms her Hell with its inhabitants.
Especially since the fluff is explicit that somehow the Hell has existed before she created it, because timeywimey bullshit.

-Appearance having immediate narrative impact, and justifying its purchase in the first scene with Harry Junior.
One wonders how many little narrative maluses are there that we havent actually noticed.
Gonna have to deal with the Touch of Frost thing first before even considering App 3, because Im sure her siblings notice.

-Loling at Daniel trying to keep a low profile.

mollys definitely a high willpower build like dresden if better at subtlety.

This specifically interesting because, maybe somewhat obscurely, it reminded me of alchemical symbolism.

A green lion (Green sun princess here) devouring the sun, which is perfection and the symbol / planet of God (and Sol and Solars here).

Isnt it because we just got a Boiling Oil Charm?

We got Charred Sinner, so the dream may be related to the new Charm.

QM stated that it's important the liquid be deadly due to impurity, so electricity or temperature stuff like boiling and freezing won't work - and she won't get protection from them like she does impurity/poison. So yeah, Clorox or oven cleaner.

Oven cleaner is more expensive but more toxic by volume. Actually, drain cleaner might be a good compromise. Decent volume to dilute in water and more toxic than bleach. Good for carrying in the car or whatever.

Molly should ask Father Forthill and Harry if she can keep a few bottles of clorox/oven/drain cleaner at their places, that way if it is closer or she wants to avoid Charity or the kids seeing her in a bad state she has the option of going there. Pretty sure Forthill would say yes, and asking Harry would just be hilarious.

Age 14
Blond hair and the top half of a girl's angelic young face appeared at the top of the ladder. There was a quiet gasp and her blue eyes widened. "Holy crap."

I jerked the tip of the blasting rod up and away from the girl, releasing the gathered energy. "Molly?"
The rest of the girl's face appeared as she climbed on up the ladder. "Wow, is that an acetylene torch or something?"

I blinked and peered more closely at Molly. "Is that an earring in your eyebrow?"
The girl clapped her fingers over her right eyebrow.
"And your nose?"

Molly shot a furtive look over her shoulder at the house, and scrambled the rest of the way up to the tree house. As tall as her mother, Molly was all coltish legs and long arms. She wore a typical private-school uniform of skirt, blouse, and sweater-but it looked like she'd been attacked by a lech with razor blades where fingers should have been.

The skirt was essentially slashed to ribbons, and underneath it she wore black tights, also torn to nigh indecency. Her shirt and sweater had apparently endured the Blitz, but the bright red satin bra that peeked out from beneath looked new. She had on too much makeup. Not as bad as most kids too old to play tag but too young to drive, but it was there. She wore a ring of fine gold wire through one pale gold eyebrow, and a golden stud protruded from one side of her nose.

I worked hard not to smile. Smiling would have implied that I found her outfit amusing. She was young enough to be hurt by that kind of opinion, and I had a vague memory of being that ridiculous at one time. Let he who hath never worn parachute pants cast the first stone.

Molly clambered in and tossed a bulging backpack down on the wooden floor. "You lurk in tree houses a lot, Mister Dresden?"
"I'm looking for your dad."

Molly wrinkled up her nose, then started removing the stud from it. I didn't want to watch. "I don't want to tell you how to investigate stuff, but generally speaking you won't find him in tree houses."
"I came over, but no one answered the door when I knocked. Is that normal?"

Molly took out the eyebrow ring, dumped the backpack out onto the floorboards, and started sorting out a long skirt with a floral print, a T-shirt, and a sweater. "It is on errands day. Mom loads up the sandcrawler with all the little snot-nosed Jawas and goes all over town."

"Oh. Do you know when she's due back?"

"Anytime," Molly said. She hopped into the skirt, and wriggled out of the tattered skirt and tights in that mystifyingly modest way that girls always seem to manage to acquire sometime in their teens. The shirt and pink sweater went on next, and the ripped up sweater and, to my discomfort, the bright red bra came out from under the conservative clothes and got tucked back into the backpack.

I turned my back on the girl as well as I could in the limited space. The link of handcuff Anna Valmont had slapped onto my wrist chafed and pinched. I scratched at it irritably. You'd think I'd been cuffed enough times that I should have gotten myself a key by now.

Molly took a wet-wipe from somewhere and started peeling the makeup from her face. "Hey," she asked a minute later. "What's wrong?"

I grunted and waved my wrist vaguely, swinging the cuff around.

"Hey, neat," Molly said. "Are you on the lam? Is that why you're hiding in a tree house, so the cops won't find you?"
"No," I said. "It's kind of a long story."
"Ohhhh," Molly said wisely. "Those are fun-time handcuffs, not bad-time handcuffs. I gotcha."

"No!" I protested. "And how the hell would you know about fun-time handcuffs anyway? You're like ten."
She snorted. "Fourteen."
"Whatever, too young."

"Internet," she said sagely. "Expanding the frontiers of adolescent knowledge."
"God, I'm old."
Molly clucked and dipped into the backpack again. She grabbed my wrist firmly, shook out a ring of small keys, and started trying them in the lock of the cuffs. "So give me the juicy details," she said. "You can say 'bleep' instead of the fun words if you want."

I blinked. "Where the bleep did you get a bunch of cuff keys?"
She looked up at me and narrowed her eyes. "Think about this one. Do you really want to know?"
I sighed. "No. Probably not."

"Cool," she said, and turned her attention back to the handcuffs. "So stop dodging the issue. What's up with you and Susan?"
"Why do you want to know?"
"I like romance. Plus I heard Mom say that you two were a pretty hot item."

"Your mom said that?"
Molly shrugged. "Sorta. As much as she ever would. She used words like 'fornication' and 'sin' and 'infantile depravity' and 'moral bankruptcy.' So are you?"

"Morally bankrupt?"
"A hot item with Susan."
I shrugged and said, "Not anymore."

"Don't move your wrist." Molly fiddled with one key for a moment before discarding it. "What happened?"
"A lot," I said. "It's complicated."
"Oh," Molly said. The cuffs clicked and loosened and she beamed up at me. "There."

"Thanks." I rubbed my sore wrist and put the cuffs in my coat pocket.

Molly bent over and picked up a piece of paper. She read it and said, "Ask Michael about duel? Whiskey and tobacco?"
"It's a shopping list."
Molly frowned. "Oh." She was quiet for a moment and then asked, "So was it the vampire thing?"

I blinked at the girl again. "Was there a PBS special or something? Is there some kind of unauthorized biography of my life?"
"I snuck downstairs so I could listen to Dad tell Mom what had happened."
"Do you eavesdrop on every private conversation you can?"

She rolled her eyes and sat down on the edge of the platform, her shoes waving in the air. "No one says anything interesting in a public conversation, do they? Why did you guys split up?"
I sat down next to her. "Like I said. It was complicated."

"Complicated how?"
I shrugged. "Her condition gives her - an impulse-control problem," I said. "She told me that strong emotions and uh, other feelings, are dangerous for her. She could lose control and hurt someone."

"Oh," Molly said, and scrunched up her nose again. "So you can't make a play for her or-"
"Bad things could happen. And then she'd be a full vampire."
"But you both want to be together?" Molly asked.

"Yeah."
She frowned. "God, that's sad. You want to be with her but the sex part-"
I shuddered. "Ewg. You are far too young to say that word."

The girl's eyes shone. "What word? Sex?"
I put my hands over my ears. "Gah."
Molly grinned and enunciated. "But the bleep part would make her lose control."

I coughed uncomfortably, lowering my hands. "Basically. Yeah."
"Why don't you tie her up?"
I stared at the kid for a second.

She lifted her eyebrows expectantly.

"What?" I stammered.
"It's only practical," Molly stated firmly. "And hey, you've already got the handcuffs. If she can't move while the two of you are bleeping, she can't drink your blood, right?"

I stood up and started climbing down the ladder. "This conversation has become way too bleeping disturbing."

Molly laughed at me and followed me back to the ground. She unlocked the back door with another key, presumably from the same ring, and that was when Charity's light blue minivan turned into the driveway. Molly opened the door, darted into the house, and returned without her backpack. The minivan ground to a halt and the engine died.

Molly Carpenter appeared and opened the door for us.
The last time I'd seen Molly, she'd been an awkward adolescent, all skinny legs, bright-eyed interest, and hesitation of movement offset by an appealing personal confidence and frequent smiles and laughter. But that had been years ago.

Since then, Molly had gotten all growed up.

She strongly favored her mother, Charity. Both of them were tall for women, only an inch or two under six feet, both of them blond, fair, blue-eyed, and both of them built like the proverbial brick house, somehow managing to combine strength, grace, and beauty that showed as much in their bearing, expression, and movement as it did in their appearance. Charity was a rose wrought of stainless steel. Molly could have been her younger self.

Of course, I doubted Charity had ever worn an outfit like Molly's.

Molly stood facing me in a long, gauzy black skirt, shredded artistically in several places. She wore fishnet tights beneath it, showing more leg and hip than any mother would prefer. The tights, too, were artfully torn in patches to display pale, smooth skin of thigh and calf. She had army-surplus combat boots on her feet, laced up with neon pink and blue laces. She wore a tight tank top, its fabric white, thin, and strained by the curves of her breasts, and a short black bolero jacket bearing a huge, gaudy button printed with the logo "SPLATTERCON!!!" in dripping red letters. Black leather gloves covered her hands.

But wait, that's not all.

Her blond hair had been dyed, parti-colored, one half of her head bubblegum pink, the other sky blue, and it had been cut at a uniform length that ended just below her chin and left most of her face covered by a close veil of hair. She wore a lot of makeup; way too much eye liner and mascara, and black lipstick colored her mouth. Bright rings of gold gleamed in both nostrils, her lower lip, and her right eyebrow, and there was a bead of gold in that little dent just under her lower lip. There were miniature barbell-shaped bulges at the tips of her breasts, where the thin fabric emphasized rather than concealed them.

I didn't want to know what else had been pierced. I know I didn't, because I told myself that very sternly. I didn't want to know, even if it was, hell, a little intriguing.
But wait, that's still not all.

She had a tattoo on the left side of her neck in the shape of a slithering serpent, and I could see the barbs and curves of some kind of tribal design flickering out from the neckline of her tank top. Another design, whirling loops and spirals, covered the back of her right hand and vanished up under the sleeve of the jacket.

She watched me with one eyebrow arched, waiting for me to react. Her posture and expression both made the effort to say that she was way too cool to care what I thought, but I could practically taste the uncertainty she was working to hide, and her anxiety.

"Long time, no see," I said, finally.

Had a HARD time finding a non sexed up pic.

Ironically, I nerely rejected this before looking up the color of Brass and realising it fit.

The cloak/Mantle gave me some trouble till I rememberd Abyssal redemption and made it a nod to the solar origin of Infernals and was a neat way to reference Mentor 5 that we took.
 
my favorite part is the solar 'good' thing and going mostly for dex. If ujus plan involves a more normal sized one instead of a giant of some kind and hopefully the nice aspects I'd vote for it. Honestly really like the current one though I don't know enough about mechanics to really say if its the best plan though.
 
Usually "Infernal redemption" isnt a thing that exists, both due to Infernals not being absolutely corrupted like Abyssals were and not really needing redemption thematically, and due to Primordial charmtech being just different than just polarity flipping with a Monstrance.

But with the White God around, who I would say seems like a Primordial or at least in the same weight class, being influenced by your local Primordial is completely fine for Infernals.

Especially if it hearkens back to already extant, if buried, themes.

Edit: Imagine if at some point in the far future we could innovate White God Charms, maybe Theion conversions as his themes and charms are...very OT God.

yeah really the redemption possibility is what really gets me. also the thematics that all infernals have a sort of corrupted solar thing going on as far as I know. especially since God often has a star, sun, good theme going on which is heavily compatible with the solar stuff buried underneath the infernal.

All Infernals and Abyssals are modified Solar Exaltations, yes.

This is why they are called Solaroids, and are a step above other Celestial Exaltations like Lunars and Sidereals.

Except SMA, which is super cool...
